Nothing. Use either or. Banks and or PA always my go to. Different strokes for different folks. Nice to have options. Nice to have another very solid gapps packages provider back.

Nothing wrong but some people like me love the bloat that is included and the option for various packages.

I like how thorough his gapps are. They are a bit big but worth it.

AOKP for A500

So I just found the AOKP forums, and I have an Acer A500. I see build 28, but I don't see a thread for it. Is it safe to download the A500 version of build 28? I am also on Thor's CWM recovery version 1.7, which is CWM 5.5. Will flashing this do anything to internal or external SD storage, or the CWM installation?
There WAS one, then it was revealed that the AOKP was using Thors kernel without permission, so it was banned.

So will this overwrite my current CWM install, or format any of my SD storage? I want to be able to flash back to my current ROM without losing anything.
Personally, I'd steer clear. Last time I saw a status update on it, it was pretty unstable, would reboot on suspend unless you turned off animations, and generally pretty crap. The only part that worked properly was their donation links.
The leak-based ROM's on here, or Thor's current release, are FAR more stable.
However, AFAIK, it won't touch your recovery partition or wipe SD storage, but I can't guarantee that.
From what I'm seeing, the later builds are much more stable.

That's not the only thing they were using.
Let's talk the entire Device tree And no credit was ever given.
Monkeys couldn't write a simple bat file if you ask me.
A conglomeration of a bunch of blind thieves leading other blind thieves around in circles chasing each others dung trails....
"Hey, if we steal and cut and past a bunch of code together, maybe a smart person will come by and make it work!"
But by God, their donation buttons worked ... at least they "look" like they did

In all fairness, it works fine on my SGSII. It was ported to the Sprint variant.
This same version? The one using a ripped off copy of Thor's old GIT tree that doesn't work properly?

No, the version in my signature runs perfect on my E4GT.

S4 firmware dumping ground

This thread steered in a direction I originally didn't mean to but now it serves another purpose.
We'll have this thread as an S4 dumping ground, where we dump S4 firmwares, discuss them and try to see if and what apps work with the S3.

Lightly modded mb5 here still, getting a bit itchy though so I might have a change of scenery soon if the new update looks ok

I am never fully satisfied but I'm the most satisfied with Omega though. ^^
Btw, there's an S Voice app out which is from a GS4 system dump. Should we rename it to voicetalk.apk to have it launch with a double home click?
http://hotfile.com/dl/199986593/6b163c0/S-Voice_Android_phone_J.apk.html
Modified Omega V39 .
Remove more bloat change boot animation added sound mods .
Dont bother to update a stable rom until a better version or better firmware is released .
All these incremental updates are usually only minor changes .
I would build a rom through the kitchen but really not much difference if any to the roms already modded .
Non Touchwizz stuff never liked any of it and have a strong preference for TW Launcher .
jje
I'm running Ultima V11 right now, Nexus 4 launcher, kept some bloat like Samsung apps and S voice, runs really smooth and I think I'm in love.
Ok so I renamed the SIV S Voice to Voicetalk and replace the S3 one and set the proper permissions, rebooted and now tried it. Much much much faster and looooads better at perception. It now almost fully hears what I say despite me not being a native English speaker.

PA 5.0?

I came accross a video today which showed PA Lollipop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOFOyrWPPe4
The video is in a different language so i dont understand it. My question is that is it real? theres a DL link in the description but ive searched online and theres nothing about PA 5.0 for the D802.
Seems legit... Maybe @mike criggs could tell us more.. No idea as to how stable it is and no idea as to why its not in xda as of yet... But ill give it a try!!!
Does someone dare to try it and teport back?
₪LG G2₪
Downloaded and tried to install but it just hangs on flash in twrp...
Hmmm, its odd since its claimed to be PA yet theres nothing on XDA, PA's Google+ page or on any other phone?
I wouldn't recommend flashing something that hasn't been publicly announced. Remember what happened with houston's test builds? These are real zips, but I don't believe they are meant for the public yet.

Its in testing status. If course there are no pa features. Kids now days need to learn and read. I've been running it for the last week. Stable enough for me. And I'm sure pa is getting closer to adding their goodies.

Can someone point me in the right direction? I'd like to try and build PA for the 6p but i'm not sure where to begin. Apparently I need to do a hardware bringup(?) and a google search didn't bring much up.

I mean, what do you think the ROM consists of right now? What are you planning on doing once you figure out how to do a device bring up? FYI, device bring up guides can be easily found on this very website.
The ROM is stock right now. Without repo access what exactly is going to be Paranoid about it? What features do you think are in the current source?
There is basically nothing but aosp right now. I don't understand what you are wanting to actually do.

Well. You could try cherry picking old features out of github, on top of current source, but you will probably find a lot of problems and conflicts. Basically until there is a release, you won't know what features are being brought back, so essentially you could build any ROM you want now.

Am I mistaken in thinking that the guide assumes you've already synced? I've tried to do that as outlined in the AOSPA manifest for marshmallow, but apparently that is the private git.

what you should have said is, Linux is my b*tch, i own smali and i will smoke any kind of framework that force closes on me because android is like my mind.
Taking a few classes means that we will see a new ROM on the HD2 before you finish.
No disrespect, but that task needs some talent mate, i don't pretend to have it but you need to be a hardcore android programmer to be able to even scratch the surface.
Let alone build and maintain a ROM.

Paranoid Android for Pixel C

EDIT: Looks like the official builds are on their server now, and can be found here http://get.aospa.co/official/dragon.
Just wanted to give anyone who's interested a heads up. Looks like the pixel c will be officially supported by PA, they currently have a test build out.
https://plus.google.com/+YamilGhazi/posts/J96qSfq3RBB
After being unable to get GMD gesture control working on the N preview, I decided to give it a try. So far working great, no issues that i've come across so far. I used OpenGapps nano and supersu 2.7.4. If you do give it a try, you should probably post some feedback in that linked post for the dev.
Great !
Thanks for the info !

I'd totally flash this but unlocking the Pixel's Bootloader gives that boot delay doesn't it? it really annoys me lol

No, it comes unrooted. Also, as a precaution to make sure it doesn't accidently try to force encrypt the tablet, as I think a lot of their builds do.

My biggest reason for not using N right now is GMD gesture controls doesn't work for it, and not sure I want a tablet without gesture control.
Well PA for our Pixel C is very close to stock now... I prefer DU since day 1 - ok, I wish I had some transparency settings like on Temasek but maybe my dreams get real For me not a big deal to switch from DU
