Hi all, first post!
I recently purchased an unlocked international version of the Galaxy Note 4 from Amazon. Loving the phone so far, I rooted it on the first day since it didn't come with any warranty anyway.
My question is regarding recovery mode. I read that by clearing the system cache from the recovery mode menu, battery life drastically improves. I mean battery life on the Note 4 is pretty good as it is but who doesn't want more battery life?
Anyway, when I turn off the phone and enter recovery mode by holding down power, home and volume up, I get the green android bot on my screen, and all that happens is the robot flashes once every few seconds, that's about it. Nothing else happens, no menu, nothing.
I tried searching online but couldn't find any answers so I thought I'd try here. Any help as to why this is happening and how to successfully get to recovery mode would be great. Thanks

When the flashing "thing" happens.. try pressing and releasing the volume up + down button.. or try pressing them alternately.. It MIGHT do the trick and allow you to access the menu.. You can try... Thanks

My Asus Transformer wont stop rebooting and when I turn it off, it takes me countless times to hit the power on/off button to turn it on, then it just randomly reboots every time I am connected to the internet. I have not rooted my device nor have I done anything to affect its stock state, any help at all would be much appreciated!!
I always have to hold my power button for a few second to boot it from a completely off state... Are you doing that? Or just quick pressing it?
As for the rebooting issue, since you are completely stock with out root, then I would start by uninstalling any recent apps. maybe if you remember what new apps were installed around the time the issues began... I would start there. otherwise, factory reset and see if that helps... Beyond that, i'm not sure what you can do with a stock non rooted device. good luck

I have managed to do a factory reset, and no apps were present, yet still when I went to the browser it rebooted and now I am struggling to turn it on, after the first lock screen, it reboots again. Yes, I am also holding the power button untill the screen glows. Thanks for the quick reply!
If a factory reset does not fix it, then back up any important data and get on the phone with asus to do a warranty repair (assuming you are past the return date from where you bought it)
I have returned the device and am getting a new one in a few hours. I hve done some research and i understood that the new firmware update does that to the transformer 101. Can anyone confirm that? Or am I safe to update the new device which i will recive? Thanks!
heya guys,
I'm on stock FW on my GS4S i9505 and yesterday morning i update to 4.3 OTA.
It was working all day just fine without issues or lag for the matter.
Today morning when i woke up, my phone was plugged into the charger and was turned off.
I turned it on by couple of mins later it would freeze and wont unlock, just black screen with a red light flashing on the top left of the phone.
I had to pull out the battery and put it back everytime i wanted to try and boot it.
I did that 3 times within 10mins and the 4th time it just stopped turning on all together.
Anyone has this issue and maybe can give tips on how to fix this if possible?
Thanks in advance.

You will need to go to SamMobile.com and download the official odin flash firmware
for your phone's exact model and flash it using Odin.
That will get the phone into good working condition with the stock 4.2 firmware.
After that you can use the phones built-in updating system again and most likely it
will work just fine. Just be sure that the battery is at least half full before the phone
starts the auto-update process.
Perhaps you installed some app or game from the playstore which did not play nice
with your phone and caused the 4.3 update to get stuck or it could have been the
battery if it did not have enough charge in it.
You should try to get the phone into download mode to see if it can be Odin flashed.
Hold the volume down key at the same time while holding the the power key down
for 20-30 seconds and see if it goes into download mode.
If it does you have nothing to worry about.
NOTE: before trying download mode be sure to remove the battery for 5 seconds
and replace it, making sure the phone is in a power off state before trying to boot
it into download mode.

Thanks for the reply dude.
I'd love to do that, but i dont see how this is possible since the phone doesnt boot up at all anymore.
Any ideas?
Maybe your battery is dead? Because it's known issue on Galaxy S4 phones.
Try another charger.
I tried with my wife's S4 battery and my colleague's S4 battery.
Also tried with 3 different charges that came with the S4, no dice... :/
I had to take it back to the store, it was under warranty still.. they are sending it back to Samsung and will get it back in 2-3 weeks, same phone repaired or a refurb i guess.
After doing more search and with the help of some falks from #Android @ EFNET, we came to the conclusion that its an issue with the EMMC chip just like the first generation of Note 2 and S3.
What's pissing me off is that Samsung fixed the issue on Note 2 with a new patch of phones, so newer phones didnt have the EMMC issue as far as i can tell. SO why the hell would they still use it for the S4 is beyond me.
Just a word of advice, if this happens to anyone, make sure you run a backup as soon as it boots back up the first time.
In my case, it booted 3 times by removing the battery and putting it back and froze 3 times, there was no 4th.
If i tried to backup the phone the first or second time it booted, i could still have my data to be restored on the new repaired phone.
This should be marked as closed unless some other people with the same issue want to discuss it here.

It could be the battery itself. They do go bad. Check it to see if it has any bulging.
Fixed problem by wiping cache from stock recovery
Anyone else flash factory image and now has no sound what soever? Completely clean factory image flash and no headphone or speaker sound. Only vibrations. Made sure everything was up all the way and tested on YouTube and play music and notification sounds. I saw one other person post they had the issue. So is it anyone who flashed factory image or everyone?

I have sound, but the button works backwards.
I was just coming in to ask the same question - no sound at all on my N10 on 5.0 factory image. Strange. Makes it really useful as an alarm clock, eh?
Fixed it. If you have the issue reboot into stock recovery and wipe cache. Works after that.
No sound on Nexus10 after upgrading to lollipop
I have the same problem as others with no sound from nexus 10 since installing lollipop.

I've tried following these instructions several times so far. Each time I get to the point where I'm pressing the power button to enter recovery, the screen goes blank for about a minute, and a "No command" message is displayed, along with a picture of a dead android robot on its back. The only thing I can do at that point is to hold down the power button until it reboots normally. I never see any option to wipe cache. Suggestions?

Mine did exactly same. Sounds worked after boot though..
My N10 with Android 5.0.1 will always cut off audio if I power it on with a headset plugged in. I just unplug the headset then reboot and wait until the desktop is displayed before using the headset. That's never failed yet.

When You see screen with android on his back (and triangle/exclamation mark), just one more step: hold Power button and tap Volume Up once before releasing the Power. A list of items should now appear at the screen. Now, you can wipe the cache partition (~10 minutes to complete).

I need help. I wiped out the cache partition following the above instruction but unfortunately, still no sound. The only way I have sound is via my bluetooth speakers. Any idea what I can do next?
I ran into this problem a couple days ago when booting after a recharge, with 5.0.1. No sound coming out of my Nexus 10, no matter what I did. Simply rebooting the tablet fixed it.
Just restart phone
All I had to do was turn my phone off and on. Running Nexus 4 on Lollipop.
Cause of the Sound Issue...
This is what we know based on several trial and error tests. The issue occurs when you have the tablet plugged into a charger and unplug it. Not sure why the issue is caused this way but each time it happens that was the case.
Solution...
After charging your Nexus 10 you will have to reboot the device once to get the sound back. You could go in and clear cache although its generally easier for most people to just restart the device. Have noticed best results when the tablet is on then turned off and back on again as opposed to just turning it on from a dead state.
I know this is annoying and more of a temporary solution but it will get your sound back just the same until Google pushes out an update to fix the underlying issue. It is annoying having to reboot the device each time you put it on the charger but for the time being it works.
Hope this helps.

For me it also kills the front mic but the back one works. The solution of restarting fixes sound and mic for me.
So its not just me. Good.

Reboot With NO Attached Devices
Try rebooting your Nexus 10 with all connections to external devices detached and off. This means NO power supply, NO bluetooth, NO HDMI cable, NO headphones, etc.
You may need to do this a few times. This worked for me when no other remedy worked, and I tried everything.
so last night my phone randomly froze and rebooted into the command page with the little android guy saying no command. So I had to reboot system and all is well. anyone have this happen to them?
That sounds like you booted into recovery mode. Not sure if this can be done with a button combo or not. If you were able to boot fine, it should be nothing to worry about.
I believe once you see "no command" you can hold power button and tap VOL UP then release both buttons and you will see some options, one of them being reboot, which will go back into normal Android.
Yeah it was recovery mode and it did it all by itself which was weird but no its fine and I got the security update seems even smoother if that was possible
This just happened to my phone at the beginning of a phone call! I didn't know what to do, so I just held the power button down a for a few long presses and fortunately it rebooted. Seems OK now, but leaves me a little worried!
