Hi,
I hope someone here can help me. The other night I was browsing the net at home (wi-fi connection) and after a while, if I'm not wrong, I've seen that the phone lost the phone/line connection, but I was not that worried: 1)I was in an area of my home where the cellphone line is not that good, 2) I was about to turn off the phone. The problem is that the next morning I turned it on and got "No service" and there was no way to get the operator line.
Tried the following things:
1) I didn't have the last version of MIUI so I updated it
2) Tried with an old release
3) Made a full wipe
4) Tried another kernel
5) Tried two different radios
6) Set a just rooted-Stock Rom
7) Tried an old august backup
8) Tried sim of different operators
All these things didn't produce any good result.
I also can tell you that the bars of the signal (close to the clock) are visible and the line is very good but if I try to select manually an operator I get "error" something like "now is impossible to connect to this operator, try later".
I really hope someone can help me and is not an hardware problem (but now I don't really now...)
Thank you and have a nice day!
sorry for my poor english that i did not read all post
but
first of all , get outta home , find somewhere outside because there has better single.
try flash a new radio.
go to MOBILE NETWORK SETTINGS ---> NERWORK OPERATORS
select "SELECT AUTOMATICALLY"
and ... sometimes MIUI does have single lost problem , if all of these don't work , try flash Stock ROM to determinate if its ROM problem , radio problem or , in the worse scenario , the hardware problem
Yes ok...thanks for the effort but is clear that you didn't read the post. I tried all of that and trying to select manually doesn't work.
Any radio version suggested?
Try the KB3 or the new kf1. Kd always gave me radio dumps couple of times a day with miui
Tried with KF1 no luck.
Any other suggestion?
Ok one update:
typing *#*#4636#*#*
I can see my operator, my IMEI but NOT my phone number.
My phone number doesn't show as well. Did u manage to get your phone to work again? If not, have u tried putting a different sim from the same or a different operator?
I tried almost everything...nothing works. Tried different sims, different operators...nothing.
What model do you have? And did you by mistake flash a wrong radio. A one that wasn't supposed to be for your phone ( I'm outta ideas)
Try
*#*#72786#*#*
Put msl
Select yes
U need to move the EFS files into root of SD.
Nv.log
Nv_data.bin
Nv_data.bin.md5
U must flash a compatible radio first then move them with root explorer
Reboot the phone and ull be fine

So I faced the no network signal issue yet again today, and I know I may be the Nth guy who's repeating it again, but since I searched throughout the forums, and the web, but to no avail, I desperately need help here.
Mine is a Defy+, with stock rooted 2.3.4 Asia retail unlocked. My carrier is Vodafone India.
This is what I did:
- Took a backup of everything, even nandroid.
- Installed Defy 2ndinit, and got the bootmenu installed.
- Reboot>vol down on blue led>bootmenu>recovery>custom recovery
- Here I did a factory setting>Wipe Data>Wipe Dalvik Cache>Wipe Cache.
- Next>Install zip from sd>11.10 JB Defy+ Quark's ROM>Update v2>Custom GAPPS
- At this point, the phone rebooted coz there was no other option.
At first boot, it took a loooooooong time, but finally I booted into JB! Result!
But alas, there was no network signal to be found, while my other vodafone india handset had full signal.
Hence, I couldn't set up my google account, and thought, that I could fix it once I proceed.
- I tried the airplane mode on/off method: No success.
- I tried rebooting several times: No success
- I tried clearing cache & dalvik cache and then rebooting: No success
- I tried fiddling with the baseband switcher, and trying different profiles, other countries etc etc: No success.
- The phone wouldn't connect to the WEP, WPA2, or No authentication(open) ad-hoc wi-fi interent connections that I shared via my laptop either. It easily connected earlier on GB 2.3.4 stock.
- I tried manually searching for a network as well, and found EVERY network EXCEPT for Vodafone India, which my sim could register to. This, while my other vodafone phone was lying right beside it with FULL signal.
The ROM was working beautifully, with all the bells and whistles, albeit a bit laggy, but that could easily be fixed later. The main problem being that this issue, doesn't lemme get data access on my phone either, so its essentially just a dumb-phone then.
This had happened earlier as well, when I had tried to multi-boot ICS CM9, with my stock 2.3.4
Then, I couldnt part with the stock ROM, and hence I believed that the no network issue could be due to multi-booting, and would be resolved with a complete install.
Now, I love JB, and everything it comes with, but I am stuck with this essentially simple issue. Please help me out here.
Hey gautam,
i have a defy on vodafone mumbai (not a defy+) and i dont seem to have a problem. I hadvent used CM10 i was on 7.2 and i used central europe as my baseband in the baseband switcher. But actually i had signal straight out of the box with 7.2. I would suggest you try with another sim card. Or try downgrading. It could be because 11.10 is custom kernel one but nogoodusername is also an indian and is using custom kernels. I doubt its a baseband problem because you can see and register on other networks. I think possibly something was corrupted by your install since not even your wifi is not working some radio drivers could be bugged.
If its not your sim a reflash of OS might be required. If you're downgrading to GB you may need to reflash your kernel to get off Quarx's

Will try and find out if this works..
Please keep sharing any other solutions in case this doesn't work..
If you have IMEI number use Baseband switcher , play with is a little bit.
if not , backup your rom , flash stock SBF. <wipes and all with stock recovery>
boot to stock FW , and now you 2 options :
Case 1:- You don't have signal , and even if you don't have IMEI number in stock , root it and use the baseband switcher on the stock , make sure you reboot every BB switch , and that Signal bar even tries to increase <even a little bit.>
Case 2:- You have signal .
please try these steps to get network

Thanks, It resolved weak network issue which I was facing from last 2-3 weeks
Strange behaviour. Yesterday the phone worked correctly (on jellyblast rom and savie kernel). Today stopped to go ("emergency calls only"). So I tried every type of wipe (/cache /date /dalvik), to fix the permissions, to flash a stock rom with odin (from this forum) and finally to change the rom (I tested creed... I think I'll keep, if the phone works). To reset the APNs and to to install ITV CSCs (after stock installation). Nothing. Everything else seems to work. Also if i put another SIM into the phone (Wind IT e TIM sims work). It could be a carrier problem? (it's a virtual carrier under Vodafone IT). I'm trying a nandroid (which carries a bit of dead bodies of flashes)

its a sim card problem. visit your dealer and get it replaced
Have patience brother. Might be a network problem only. Try going to flight mode then deactivate again.

I hope fix the network soon (however is strange that the SIM WORKS in a nokia 1112 lol). In any case I've to talk with the revendor (postal office).
It's very probably is a sim problem... Neither the airplane mode seems to work...
*edit*
Yesterday, in android setting I saw Vodafone IT -79dBm signal (correct?); today I saw TIM IT (is not my carrier), -73dBm (edge only but doesn't work)
I noticed a strange other thing... I haven't /csc folder with ITV (maybe due nandroid with no EU-Rom). I'm trying to re-put in it (by other nandroid) and /efs is empty (never caused problems, however), and I today I'll go to ask sim replacement (as other works)
*RE-EDIT*
Nope. I replaced SIM. Still happens... Works on another phone but not on mine. Another SIM of another operator WORKS. So I'm trying another one firmware (XXLK3_XEULL1_XXLK3) that seems to be the most near to my phone default.. we'll see...
Still doesn't work =( Same problems
....maybe with a Vodafone only CSCs?
I don't know what to try (If won't work I'll change operator..again) =(

Ok, I'll try.....
Tried already with several stock firmwares (with correct csc). Nothing..
A strange thing is how the cell is recognized on google play/Kies: it says Vodafone GT-5360 and doesn't work with Vodafone or Tim (but works perfectly on Wind) ..... but it's an unbranded phone and however worked with other operators....
*edit*
I haven't anything in /efs (don't know If I used to have something in it) but phone still "works", and my imei is the same on the box (so nothing of illegal, I hope). I need a tool for that? Can interfere with mobile signal?
Galaxy toolbox generated a file of 1024kb named efspart.img.save (doesn't open) which I've restored... (?)
Now, when phone starts, I sees an android.phone stopped to work..... Can be useful to push it from adb; how? (I read something about it somewhere on xda, but I want to be sure it's useful to do it)
I noticed another strange habit.
When I'm covered by 3G (WCDMA?) phone works well (I've wifi, data, network operator); when I'm not, as is locked on WCMDA only (why?), I can't phone (emergency call) but the data packets still works (so isn't a network problem, it is?); I can't select in phone info (dialer mode) the GSM Auto(PRL) which seems to be 2g preferred (I think I'd resolve setting this).
There's a manual configuration to force the parameter? Now I'm on stock rom and stock kernel, but the signal fly away sometimes
thats a provider maybe

i'm on the same problem here ...
I tried the 272 code, and it shows me that I have a ZTA vendor code available, and an option to 'install it'. the phone reboots, clean the cache and resets. may be an rewrite on the CSC sector. question is: my SIM is ok, and my phone started to behave just as described.
I'm trying to figure out here too.

Nope, it's the only operator which works with the phone (maybe damaged but out of warranty), no sim problems in other phones both in 2g and 3g; csc already done; but it goes in wcdma preferred (i want force gms auto but I can't select it in dialer mode... only wcdma and unknown) and 3g data connections works with emergency call mode(??)

I've:
PDA S5360XXLK3
PHONE S5360XXLK3
CSC S5360ITVLL2
It seems to be correct.. I can force "2g preferred" in some manner editing a file?
However, I'll try various wiping/flashing =(
Now I'm on stock rom (odexed) and kuro kernel (which works on stock), the issue doesn't happen often now ... (When happens, I've to disable radio and then switch from 3g preferred (I can't choose 2g preferred) or 2g only (if I'm on it) and then re-enable radio. In worst case (very rare, NOW) I've to reboot.
Now, seems to works the sim which didn't work when I made the topic (great step ahead ^^)
Hi guys been searching all day when I can grab some free WiFi, basically I rooted my s4 gti9505 with auto root and then installed custom recovery, and flashed PAC rom. I'm unable to make calls or receive mobile data but can use WiFi. My settings say baseband unknown .. I'll attach a picture of my settings here in this thread. I have attempted to flash a modem/radio in Odin but this didn't seem to make any difference, the problem is I'm not sure if it was the right thing to do (didn't make a back up of my phone foolishly before flashing PAC rom)
I'd appreciate any help with this guys! My network is vodaphone UK if that makes any difference to any advice given...
Thanks in advance!

will do this too, have just finished flashing MGA modem twice using your steps, will flash rom again..i wonder if i should wipe/factory wipe as i would when installing new rom...ill try it!
no luck -still no network. im running out of ideas

going out now for a while but thought id ask - do you think that installing official stock rom (perhaps from your s4 unrooting guide) would help flashed via odin? from searching i can see that some folk suggest that stock will reinstall everything i need...im hoping so, i really wouldnt mind going back to stock, anythings better than this

did you put modem in "phone" in odin?
hmmm weird! i guess your imei is not corrupted, sometimes while flashing rom in cwm, efs partition is not detected, so flashing modem twice should work
you can try with an other modem, use new one (but im sure to flash it twice)
another option is trying to flash your stock firmware

yes put it in "phone" mode, thats the second or third one i have flashed now so im not sure it wont help but for sure ill try again!
are you able to determine that its not corrupted? would it state as such if it were? im going to flash a stock firmware as a last resort. lost after that haha

So I'm practically in the same boat. I'm currently on P.A.C. man nightly 09/18 (Vodafone Germany branded device). I never had similar problems, but now I can't call (or be called) and I'm not able to use mobile data.
I nearly tried everything:
1) I checked the IMEI (saved it before switching over to custom roms), but an IMEI number is still there.
2) Went back to stock to see if it's a problem of P.A.C. man ROMS or not. On stock it didn't work either.
3) Went back to P.A.C. man ROM and flashed modem XXUBMF8 via Odin 3.04 (from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025)
4) Flashed the modem again after I flashed the ROM because it didn't work either.
So I'm completely lost now, I really don't know what to do next. I had mobile data for a couple of seconds every now and then, but nothing stable. And since the problem came up (yesterday evening) I can not make any calls at all.
Can someone help me?
Edit: The very strange thing is that I have full reception balks in the notification area (only in grey). But still, I guess this means that the device is somehow able to detect a signal but can not connect to it?
Edit2: I apparently have no Device-ID. May that be a problem?
So I took some screenshots to show you guys my problem a bit better. For some reason my mobile data now works (currently HSPA, but it's extremely slow). But I still can't make any calls (or get called too). =/
Edit: So to sum this up: the strangest thing about this problem is, that even when I go back to full stock I can't make calls. =/ What could be the problem? An IMEI number is present in the settings (althouh the 'IMEI SV' under 'About phone' --> 'Status' was one digit below the current one that I can see under those stats). The whole problem makes me believe that my provider can't sort my phone number to my device (I'm on Vodafone; but if that's really the case: why the hell does mobile data works sometimes?!). The other possibility: something with the modem/radio is broken. Could this be the problem? The thing is that I also tried to flash a custom modem, but the problem is still there...
I'm really concerned that my phone just became an expensive paperweight
Slightly different than my problem in that I didn't even have any bars for reception..my problem was fixed by changing the custom recovery software (originally I used philz to flash PAC), But I flashed cwm and then used this to again flash PAC, and all was good..don't ask my why but it helped me so you might want to try this...

Thank you for your answer!
You also flashed a different modem didn't you? Did this help or was it only the custom recovery? I'm confused because I used CWM before and never had problems. But then this mess all came up...
Yes I flashed several modems, that didn't help..only using a different custom recovery to flash my custom Rom again helped..hope you get sorted!
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
So I tried to flash PAC with TWRP 2.6.0 (it worked before), but the problem is still there.
I'm really confused. I really don't know what I can do or try to fix this mess... Is there some USSD code or something to find out if my device is missing some ID codes or if the modem is messed up or something?
Edit:
Update: For some reason I now can receive calls/SMS but only when I'm on GPRS speed. Outgoing and ingoing calls are no problem then. When my device is on HSPA or HSPA+ speed however, the old problem of not being able to call or be called is back. On one hand it's good that I'm somehow able to make calls again on the other hand it gets stranger and stranger. I know that it's a bug on PAC man ROMs that you can't change the mobile data speed options (LTE/HSPA/GPRS etc.), but I think that this could be the problem (or at least a part of it)...

Actually I can change the data in my phone between 3G and 2G (don't have LTE support here in my country)
Have you checked your APN? Think that might be a problem.
Also please post the steps you take before flashing PAC (ROM, kernel, recovery, etc)

Within Wireless & Networks --> Mobile Networks --> Network Mode? On PAC? It always crashes when I try to change something there. In the PAC bug post this seems to be a known bug, my mode is also set to GSM/WCDMA/LTE. But whenever I enter the settings to change this, only 'LTE' is chosen as option. I don't have LTE on my plan and I read somewhere else that Vodafone has major problems with it's LTE network here in Germany and that it may be better for customers without it to turn it off.
About APN: there is definitely something strange. I can enter the settings and I see three different APNs that were not created by me (they must be the standard carrier ones): they are called Vodafone DE (for Germany), 1und1 (pretty strange because the settings are the very same on this one, only the name is different) and Vodafone DE-MMS.
The strange thing now is that I can't change any value of the Vodafone DE APN... When I go into its settings, everything ia greyed out. This was the same on the stock ROM...
Now when I create a new APN with the correct provider settings (found via Google on the VF homepage), the phone still won't work. When I put the device aside for a few minutes, the Vodafone Deutschland DE APN is the selected APN again although I never went back to it...
Is there some option to take a deeper look into the modem stats to see what's the problem?
Install stock ROM

I tried that already, but it didn't help. Same problem...
I factory resetted the phone, wiped cache and dalvik cache and then flashed my Vodafone branded stock ROM via Odin that I had on my device when I got it. Didn't help for some reason... But: should I also try to go back to stock ROM via KIES? I haven't tried this method until now...
Edit: About my flashing method: I went from the stock ROM to rooted (via CF Auto root with Odin). For PAC I then flashed TWRP 2.6.0 and then in recovery factory resetted the phone, wiped cache and dalvik and then installed PAC. After that I installed GApps. I used this method before and it worked without any problems...
Edit2: I found this thread, it appears to be the same/a similar problem with the S3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1805709&page=6
Now is there something similar for the S4? I think I tried calling ##72786# on stock ROM and it didn't work...

Delete the unused APNs.
Do you have mobile data?
Also I asume that you're running the latest vertigo's build, because with me GSM/WCDMA/LTE is always selected.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4
Sometimes I have mobile data, but only for very limited time; for the majority of time, I don't have mobile data and can not make calls.
I also tried to delete the unused APNs, but still no change =/
I tried to use a different Micro SIM in this device, but the same problem appears. No data, no phone although I have grey reception balks.
any update on this one?!
Hello guys,im expiriencing strange issue with wifi in last couple of weeks.Im sorry if someone already posted thread with this issue,i couldnt find it anywhere on XDA.
Here is the problem:
i have sm n9005 and i was using stock 5.0 first, and then decided to try some custom roms.It was all good, and i changed couple of those.
At one point,i did firmware/bootloader update for some of the roms,i cant remember which one exactly, and phone started to act strange.
It could only see and connect known wifi networks (my home and work ones) and as much scanning i used,it simply can not see/scan other
networks in the area. Its really annoying. When i do factory reset/data on any rom,its all good for some time, sometimes like few hours, sometimes
few days, but it all gets f_____ up again, and i can only use networks i already used in the beggining.I tried few times to flash stock rom via Odin,
it was all good, but after some time (as i said, sometimes less sometimes more time) its acting strange again.Maybe im flashing wrong stock rom
in Odin,i cant really tell whats going on.Current baseband version is n9005xxugpof3,if anyone knows how to solve this, please help,i will provide
any data needed in order to solve this annoying problem.Thank you in advance and God bless you!
p.s.
here is the version of stock rom i flashed, its N9005XXUGBOA5_N9005XEOGBOA4_N9005XXUGBOA1_HOME.tar and i think its Poland version
or something like that.
update:
tried to flash original italian ITV stock rom,all worked fine for a day or so,and it all went back wrong again :/
Phone is not showing any WIFI network, but when i add it manualy, which i tried with my home network,
it works well. Also, its sending me notification when available networks are on,but when i enter wifi
section, list is empty again : / Mac adress in my wifi options is ok,and IP adress is unknown.
Any ideas, guys,i would really appreciate any sort of help? Thanks!
