It was announced at CTIA this week! CPU 1GHz & 4" Super AMOLED Screen (capacitive) with Android OS.

The Samsung GT-i9000 is the Galaxy S and runs Android 2.1 out of the box.
The only thing that stops me from getting this 'Superphone' is the lack of flash on the camera! Why, Samsung, why??

It's also rumoured to be the first phone designed entirely in Japan (other phones have all been designed at least in part by Sony Mobile in Sweden).
I'm fairly curious as to how thick the phone will be, given that the Snapdragon 800 will probably pump out more heat than the S600 or APQ8064.

What I would really want to see...
The Nokia N900 was the best phone I've ever had, so what I'd really want to see is a Nokia Lumia 900 (or L900?). Just slightly larger screen, modern specs and with the slide-out keyboard. Could also get that 41 MP PureView in that brick!
Well, the Lumia 900 is a real thing, but it's not what you're asking for; it's a WP7 device (not WP8) with no physical keyboard and very outdated (by today's standards) specs.
Most aspects of the N900 would be wasted (or worse) on a modern smartphone OS. For example, the resistive touchscreen (incapable of multi-touch) would be very bad for navigating UIs designed for multi-touch interaction. The hardware keyboard is a feature I would like to see return, but the specific keys on it would probably be a bit different as the N900's keyboard was more designed for interacting with "a pocketable Linux computer" than "a modern smartphone OS".
It also had atrocious battery life, even by smartphone standards. That was mostly a fault of the OS, which was poorly optimized for battery life (it basically ran a desktop Linux distro with a touch-friendly window manager). The only way I could justify calling it "the best phone" would be purely because of its OS (which was, as previously mentioned, basically Debian GNU/Linux compiled for ARM and running an X11 window manager designed for a single window at a time (small screen) and touch-driven (or stylus-driven) interaction. You could easily become root, you could compile most Linux programs for it (you could even install the GCC toolchain to the phone directly!), it had a powerful shell (which really benefited from that keyboard), and so on.
The closest thing today is probably Sailfish OS, made by Jolla (a new Finnish company made by former Nokia employees who had been working on Maemo/MeeGo). There's currently one Jolla phone available; it's still a bit prototype-ish but works and is a pretty cool intro to the OS (which doesn't look much like Maemo anymore).

The battery is kind of a deal breaker to me, even a 10.1 tablet can have 7000mAH
WTF Samsung
lol that is bad
I sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo am not going to buy this... Tab S / S2 have better specs!?!?
Never mind that screen...
RAM spec is waay to low. Battery capacity is bad. And sceeen should be tab s quality
What are you guys comparing it to? As a tablet it's a fail. But that's not how it's being marketed. As a movable TV and entertainment device its specs are fine. The display at 127 PPI makes it painful for close-in reading but 1080P at a distance looks great. Eight hours of battery life is also decent considering no one is going to be using a GV as their primary consumption device due to its complete lack of portability.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T677A using Tapatalk
I didn't let specs get to me for me to decide if I was going to get this tablet. I use it to stream YouTube, Netflix etc etc. Works very well for that.
The battery works fine for me.

Still the same camera.. Screen looks pretty bad in comparison to that S7 next to it...
Man 1080P on a 6" screen is going to look terrible.
I had high hopes of a QHD display.
