Hey all, I'm new here and any help I can get would be GREATLY appreciated!
I recently bought an Ouku android 2din radio from eBay. It is running jelly bean 4.2.2. It is actually a pretty sweet head unit and everything works.... except for one very frustrating feature. GPS signal cannot be detected no matter what I do. I have mounted the GPS antenna on the roof of my 2009 Mailbu, and it STILL will not detect a signal. I have also downloaded an offline GPS app (Sygic), as well as Google Maps, and Waze. Google Maps will find my location while sitting in my garage on wifi, but will lose location as soon as I pull out of the garage, even if I have data tethering turned on from my galaxy s6. I have also tried a handful of GPS fix apps - as well as letting them run out in the driveway for over 20mins to detect satellites.. None of them work. I am beginning to think that it is more of a software issue than hardware, due to the fact that I have routed the GPS antenna to many mounting spots with no luck ( I have also checked the antenna pin on the connector, etc. and everything is in tact). One of the main reasons I bought it was for the in-dash navigation! I am now considering a factory reset, but I need some advice as to the best way to backup my apps. Also, does anyone know if a factory reset will wipe the home page apps? I really don't want to do a factory reset, though.
I am desperate at this point, so anything.... ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
Your gps antenna is broken, I got one with my head unit and it was faulty. Bought a new one and it works.

Will it? I'm having GPS problems, it jumps all over the place even when Im sitting still, telling me Im moving when Im really not, telling me Im someplace other than where I am and even fails altogether and loses my position. I replaced the antenna, relocated the antenna but neither of these solutions work. Joying wants me to upgrade to Android 6 but Im doubting this is going to work. I dont want to send my unit in for hardware work but if I have to I will... in the mean time, will a USB receiver work?

Did a firmware update which was provided by Xtrons support, and also there's an issue with Tasker if you have Tasker automatically start your hotspot when it detects your phone connecting to the unit's bluetooth. You need to install an additional Tasker plugin to fix this, it's called "Nougat+ Tasker Tethering Control".
I have the same unit. Is there a way to prevent all apps from closing when the unit goes into sleep mode?

Mine doesn't do that, so I'm not sure.

I think I will put all apps I want to run on startup on the first tab then. Even tasker doesn't boot at startup/wake up.
Which firmware do you run now?
How good is this unit?
Pros and cons?
I'm thinking on putting this one on a LEON MK2 2007

I am pretty glad about this unit. Android has so much more options and capabilities than my older RNS510 unit.
Some cons that I have experienced is that the unit sometimes restarts itself. I am not sure yet what causes that.
And sometimes when I open multiple apps in a short period of time the unit freezes. The only way I got it to restart is to push the power button for +- 10 seconds.
In the 1 or 2 months that I have this unit, this only occcured 2 or 3 times.
One small little thing is that I wanted to use TomTom Navigation but the 3D view shows a blanco map with only the street names. So I just use Google Maps now.
And I found it very hard to get a decent reception with the DAB+ Antenna from Xtrons.
Overall I am glad with the unit. It is definitely an upgrade compared to my older version of the RNS510.
This unit responds very quickly and has a lot of options.
Let us know what your choice will be!
I'm thinking of getting one of these. What is the boot time?

If you really want to improve your DAB+ you got to find your antenna amplifier in your car and it should look like this... https://www.kufatec.de/shop/media/images/popup/DAB-Antennensplitter-fuer-VW-Golf-7.jpg it fits almost in every Volkswagen/Audi/Seat or Skoda
If so, you have to swap your FM amplifier with a DAB+/FM amplifier, i know Calearo ain't cheap but is european made and it works really well in my car, and i had to install a sharkfin antenna to receive DAB+ and GPS because i had no other option. (sorry for the many adjusted posts, technical problems)
Want to upgrade my android 4.4 MTCB - I use Tomtom as navigation. The PB88UNVP is interesting as is had 4GB RAM. I've read android 8 units have problems with the 3D navigation of Tomtom. Is there a known fix for Tomtom, or is it possible to install Android 7 on this device (don't know if there's a (custom) ROM that works with this device).
ok, got a PB88UNVP. Tomtom - no 3D navigation. Will use an other navigation app.
Unit works fine, but the WIFI connection is not reliable. When waking up, the unit tries to connect to a access point. Sometimes that functions without any problems, but other times it doesn't find any access points (while I know there are). Turning wifi on or off does not help. From time to time, the wifi can't be turned on or off (seems to be frozen on the on/off toggle switch).
I like the unit, bit the wifi problem is a big problem for me. Is this a known bug / problem with this or other devices?

yes getting the same problem on Xtrons PE88jccpl (Android 8, Octa Core) sometimes the wifi connects perfectly but other times getting authenticating, authentication errors. Also, having problems with the speed when its connected it starts out fast and perfect but slows down to .2 to .3 mbps after a couple of minutes. Xtrons support sent me a link to update and I updated both MCU and android but still getting issues. (I put the img and update.zip on a usb stick and once I inserted it asked if I wanted to update) Not sure if I am supposed to wipe the device after updating android

Thanks for your reaction. I also received the download link for this update. MCU 2.88_3 and Android image with build date 20180703.
I installed this update this morning. Checked the wipe everything' option to be sure to have a clean install.
Had the wifi not connecting 2 times today with the new update
I've not noticed the speed collapsing. I did download navigation maps (couple of GB) without problems. When the Wifi does function it functions well, the next time the system wakes up from sleep it's an about 50% chance it functions.
Have you tried downloading the speed test app to test?
Morning all
Bought a new work van which come with a sony double din headunit and the bluetooth was useless kept dropping the connection while driving, So before i crashed into the back of someone to keep reconnecting it i bought a new headunit, The one in the link below.
https://ebay.co.uk/itm/9-Android-8-...lf-Touran-Caddy-Jetta-EOS-Sharan/142821418704
So far so good apart from a few issues
The torque app does not pair with my OBD2 dongle but works fine streaming from my phone using the amazon music app
The wifi is next to useless and very slow, I can see my home wifi network and can connect to it, Then it disconnects straight away, The aerial symbol shows a maximum strength signal then shows the empty aerial signal with zero strength
Using my mobile in the van as a wifi hotspot works ok but is very slow and pretty much unusable
The canbus decoder is wired wrong i think, I open the drivers door and it shows on the headunit as the passenger door is open and vice versa, The passenger side sliding door shows as the correct door open as does the boot
Have bought the DAB+ add on box but will not be fitting that until this weekend possibly if i can sort out the above issues
Front and rear cameras are also on order for reversing and dashcam useage, again these are not going to be fitted for the same reason
Other than that its a good headunit but can the issues above be sorted out or send it back and get the xtrons one as it's exactly the same?????
I have uploaded pictures to my google drive of,
Whats in the box
Headunit fitted in the dadhboard
Headunit showing different screens
Headunit specs android version, memory, kernel etc etc
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1BNqfitMlJSrCySuVWI4ncMUDB6KUSES9
This is the xtrons one would it be any better or would it suffer from the same issues??
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XTRONS-9...613935?hash=item1ca766c2ef:g:uJIAAOSwRChayxq7
Any help on the above issues would be appreciated as i am still in the time frame for sending it back via paypal if its not fixable
I bought the head unit for my Passat b7, seems like a good unit but my iPhone 7 keeps disconnecting or even not connected at all to the phone, also my mobile WLAN connection seems sometimes working sometimes not.
Ladies and Gentlemen, some assistance please if you can.
I decided to upgrade the head unit in my 06 chrysler 300c this weekend, which was perfect timing as the stock head unit decided it absolutely hated the FM band Friday night and refused to play it.
At any rate, the head unit in question is a Hizpo octacore 4gb ram 32gb rom, running android 8.0.
My brother is a stereo shop installer and did the work, we got it up and running stellarly! Added a sub and amp while we were at it and with the already amplified boston acoustics stock speakers, I'm extremely pleased with the audio output.
Here's the rub. This morning I shut the wifi down as I was leaving trying to get it to tether with my phone and pull data via usb cable so I wouldn't have to hotspot the phone. I seem to be struggling to get it to pull or recognize any storage devices via usb. The phone in question is a Galaxy S9 running android 9. I've tried following the instructions it gave with the debugging and all, but still no joy.
Which brings us to when I got back home I attempted to turn the wifi back on, and it wouldn't connect, didn't even appear to be attempting. So I did a factory reset, and now I've lost the navigation that came with the head unit that worked offline. I'd like that back.
So can anyone provide any assistance in my quest? I've searched youtube, no luck, I've done some searches up here and can't find much on the Hizpo brand, and nothing that seems to be along the lines of the issues I'm having.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've wondered if it would be worth it to try to upgrade to android 8.1 but I'm not in a big rush for that as I'm still learning this head unit. My primary concern is trying to get the navigation back and get the USB ports to actually let me transfer some music and videos to the dang thing. I've been trying to put some music on it via google play, but the wifi is incredibly slow for some reason, I've got a brand new super fancy router for the house and all the other devices that hit it (there are many, my house is not short on teenagers) and work well, I realize it's on the slower wifi network and the playlist I'm trying to download isn't exactly short. lol
Many thanks for any and all input!
Hi All,
I have just installed a Klyde PX6 unit in my CX5 (with Bose). All is fine except for a GPS issue (built in). The GPS is showing a huge lag in position and speed updates as can be seen in the videos. One video shows same app running on Klyde unit and my mobile.
I need to send commands directly to the MT3337 GPS chip or replace it with a non averaging unit (real time/ live updates). It would be good if I can access the NMEA data stream to confirm it's the GPS chipset/module or the the android service being delayed/not serviced regular enough.
Klyde unfortunately have been a little more than useless with their engineer saying its normal GPS behaviour. Maybe for China but not for the rest of the world. I sold GPS modules for 10 years and never saw this behaviour.
Any clues on how to address this?
You should use the GPS mouse which has been delivered with the unit, instead of using the OEM on the roof.
You would have the same behavior with most OEM installed GPS antennas, independent of the car.
I am using the supplied GPS antenna.. there is no way to interface the tomtom Mazda factory one.

This PX6 is using a MT3337 chipset. I'll try interfacing to the NMEA (TX DATA) stream from the MT3337 and see if it is delayed at that point. If so, then it's a config issue in the MT3337. If it's not delayed there, then it's a Klyde issue.
Also discovered the ODB2 Bluetooth interface is not working.
Illumination wasn't working originally, I had to put a 4.7K resistor to ground as it wasn't pulling low enough for it to register lights were off...
Not been a great experience with this Klyde thing. Was looking forward to importing them for resale, but not now if this is the sample unit performance.

tbh... I still have 3 different Klyde units working in car and bench and had some more in the past.
None of your reported issues have ever been observed on any of my units.
OBD2 BT issues are only if you bonded any phone before you added the BT stick. BTW... not all sticks are working. That is a common thing in Chinese radios.
btw... If you have any issues, you just should ask Klyde. They are really responsive, at least if you ask Fany.
Hi Rigatoni,
As I said, I have asked and they are not so helpful. Insisting the GPS functionality is normal. If I drive atv60k/hr and stop, GPS takes up to 15 secs to show a stop or slow down. I have sold GPS in a past life both commercial and military and never seen such a lag before. Even old SiRF and Siny chipsets are so much faster.
Klyde did give the pinout if the GPS module, so I'll start but analysis of the MT3337 data stream. I have a few other GPS modules here I can try pop in it.
Anyone know if there is a config file in Android or the Klyde somewhere that sends the commands to the GPS module to set it up, eg set buad rate, sample rate etc? Or is the MT3337 just running default settings?
As for the ODB2 I wasn't aware of that issue, and again Klyde hadn't advised of it. The ELM unit was also supplied by Klyde. So how do I undo the hijacking of the serial port by a phone and release it for ODB2…? Factory reset?

Strange with your GPS... never seen that. I use TomTom in my units and it doesn´t lag more than 1 second in bad cases.
To change the GPS module you need to get into the rooted system. Out of memory I don´t know the exact path. I also have only a PX6 on hand, but this has a complete different MCU and I don´t know if this is the same. Will have a look tomorrow after the files for it to change.
To get the phone off of the unit, you need to first of all close BT connection on your phone.
Then remove start the radio and remove the connection from the radio... completely.
Shut down the radio
Turn BT on your phone on and remove the connection in your phone.
Close BT on your phone again or shut it down.
Put in the OBD2 dongle in your car
Turn the radio on and set the PIN to 0000 or 1234 (depends on the dongle) There are no other possible PINs available, just one of these 2 written in here.
Search for the OBD2 and connect to it.
Start BT on your phone and search from the phone!!!
Enter the PIN as written and that´s it.

Hi rigattoni,
By chance did you get around to looking at this?
Ok so I have installed a different chipset (oh and seems Klyde didn't even know what GPS chipset is in their unit, as it's not MT3337 as they advised), and the result is the same.
So it's a Android issue, maybe the location service NMEA data queue is not being cleared it refreshed fast enough. I don't know enough about Android to know how it works, but I gather the NMEA data from GNSS module is read and saved or queued somewhere, then this is read by the location.service routine when required.
I could also be that the GPVTG sentence is being dropped by Android, are the NMEA sentences accepted by Android location service filtered?
Can anyone help here where to look it's even possible with unrooted unit ?
Cheers,
Mal

Indeed I'm experiencing this problem (lag) while using an adapter and the OEM roof GPS antenna... Why is that?? It's a pity because OEM antenna is perfectly placed and concealed...

I just know out of tests that I had the best results with the GPS mouse.
All external antennas I tested have been worse.
Hello,
I have exactly the same problem.
It's also from Klyde with a PX6.
Is there a solution?
