I am surprising my daughter with a Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 either for her birthday or if she pulls all A grades this last quarter. So far, the tab is rooted with TWRP 2.8.3 installed and the stock ROM, but debloated. It seems that most CM12 based Roms have broken camera. What is my best choice for a custom ROM with working camera? Any input would be great.

Only the stock-based roms have working camera, anything cyanogenmod doesn't have the camera working yet afaik. I would recommend updating TWRP to TWRP 2.8.6.0, a lot of things have been fixed or improved.
Actually I might be mistaken. According to the OP, Cyanogenmod 11 has working camera. Obviously that's a kitkat rom, not a lollipop rom.

very beautiful , nice custom http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/development/4-4-2-rom-100-stock-4-4-2-sm-t530-t3005520
Thank you both for the info. I am confused. Is the 2.8.6.0 TWRP linked to above for the Tab 4 8.0 rather than the 10.1? Confirmed working on Tab 4 10.1 SM-T530? Thanks.

TWRP 2.8.6.0 for the Tab 4 10.1 confirmed working on SM-T530NU but I'm sure anyone with the SM-T530 can also confirm it's working, as repey6's signature implies

Hi guys
I use screen cast a lot on my n4. And it worked fine. But on Friday I restored my stock backup and then did the ota to 4.2.2. Then I flashed the latest faux kernel beta.
This morning, I wanted to use screen cast so I started it, created my video for like 5 mins. When it saved, I watched it but it was just a black screen! You can still hear my voice though. I ticked these two settings in developer settings (in attached screeny) as it said to do on the gplay page but still no luck!
BTW, I was using PA 3.0 beforehand.
Any help? Any suggestions on what I can do?
Cheers

Anyone?
Same problem here with an AOKP Unofficial 4.2.2. Reflashed back to AOKP MR1 Build 3 (4.2.1) and it works again. So it looks like this is being caused by 4.2.2.
Well i got this fixed by going back to Paranoid Android (4.2.2) so i dont know whats causing it.

Strange. I experience the same problem on Paranoid Android 3.1
Despite writing to the Developers, they won't fix it or even acknowledge.
this is a shame, i wanted to stay on stock, but i will try to flash paranoid to see if i manage to get screencast to work.!
Screencast was found working on Slimbean. But not any other mainstream custom/stock 4.2.2 ROMs. Such a shame.
I don't think the developer of the App is to blame for this. This looks like a framework change in Android.
So any devs know why it broke?
Still not working? I get black screen while recording on my S4 ATT 4.2.2.
Any Solutions??? or ALTERNATIVE
Hey folks,
Thinking of selling my Note 4 and migrating from T-Mobile over to Verizon and picking up a used Note 3.
But I'll want recovery and AOSP options.
So which Note 3 should I buy?
From what I can tell, I should NOT buy any Note 3 that has Lollipop.
Can anyone help me focus on which Note 3's are safe to buy then?

Man, thank you so much!
For anyone else reading this in the future, here is a list of firmware for the Vzw Note 3.
I marked in red what we should look for, per davekaz post.

Just so you know.... unless you buy a Verizon Developer Edition Note 3, you won't be able to flash AOSP based ROM's due to the unlockable bootloader on the Retail Verizon Note 3.
As far as recovery options for the retail version, you can use Safestrap. It's a modified TWRP recovery which works with the locked bootloader, but you have to stick with ROM's that work with it, and can't flash AOSP based ROM'S because of kernel incompatibility. You won't be able to flash regular TWRP, CWM, or Philz on a retail Verizon Note 3, even if it's on 4.3 or 4.4.2.
Oh Gheez, I hate safe strap. Thanks for the heads up on it. Ugh.
I looked around but didn't see any developer editions for sale.
I've posted on several adds over at Swappa to find out the baseband version of those phones for sale.
Guess I'll have to live with SafeStrap.
Edit. Found a 4.4.2 retail version for sale.
Put Safestrap on it and flashed AllianceROM 4.4.2 and everything is working better than expected.
There's plenty available and I don't know which one to choose so a statistic pick might be my best option. I'm talking mostly about non-MIUI ROM's cause that's the kind of ROM I want, close to stock Android.

If you want close to AOSP, try AOSP from vova.vafin... The best AOSP for Reno2
In my opinion, they're all pretty much the same as far as battery usage is concerned (which I believe is the main concern, regarding this device).
Some have a better camera, some have more stuff built-in, some are multilanguage and some aren't.
All in all, I like Bule's BlissPop (can't remember where I got it from), but mostly because I just like BlissPOP. Also, if you plan on getting an AOSP only to end up installing xposed, gravitybox, and a whole bunch of addons, might as well get a ROM that already has most of those addons...

Also pitching in for this one. I've tried one of the first AOSP posted here, the sSmooth one, but after a while it just ran crap. Went to global MIUI stable, for some reason the USB wouldn't interface with PC and finally ended up on this rom. Fastest by far. And I infinitely prefer it to MIUI. I've had a couple of soft resets, but nothing major.

Using build April 22. I always prefer original CM than others because it contains no craps no bloatware no Chinese/Russian non-translateable texts.

NOUGAT IN POLAND!!! DOWNLOADING RIGHT NOW, SO EXCITED!!!
I ve root..can i update normally or i have to download the zip and flash via custom recovery?
Working pretty well, seems to be a little bit faster than MM
Feels snappier now. It also supports the "fastboot oem off-mode-charge 0" command now too, so its the perfect replacement for specialized Nexus 7 installs.
So uh... if I have root, what do I do to get it to nougat rooted?
The stability/cuts with WiFi is better in this new ota?
Flash with full version ota with FlashFire it'll inject root and keep the TWRP recovery all in one shot.
Any idea for release date on LTE no-US model ? (RoW)
I didn't have the update
I tried FlashFire it got me stuck in a boot loop
Got the update notification as well! Downloading it right now!
Full for wi-fi k1 5.0

the thing that's keeping me from updating is xposed support. Also did anyone keep their root after upgrading?

G'day,
Let me start by saying that, I'm a noob and mind blown by the number of different roms and mods you can do. I am trying to find the best suitable rom for my mother android device, I have looked into the lineageOS and the resurrection remix and they look great! I have tried to look at more however too much information for me to absorb. I have read about the issues regarding the battery consumption issues( not too worried). What I am wondering If I want to go for the resurrection remix 5.8.5 which runs on Android 7.1.2(reason its stable release, as I've read), what version of Gapps would I require? the latest or an older version? I am seeking some guidance on flashing the roms and what could be the best approach for me. I'll also attach some images from CPU-Z on the phones hardware and model numbers if it helps.
before I finish, I would like to thank everyone for their contributions and for helping me out

Hey, first off im pretty sure resurrection remix is for G900F (klte) model which is different from what you have G901F (kccat6) model.... therefore you should exclusively look for a cusom rom for G901F otherwise you would end up with a bricked phone and an empty pocket since you'll have to buy your mom a nee phone ?

Thanks for the reply, I've been looking at the lineageos which seems to fit my requirements, the loader would be twrp and make a backup of the device before doing anything?

Yup, always do backup first in case it doesnt boot or anything, also what i do is always have an official FW in your computer so you have an option to flash official FW in case something goes wrong with the backup. GL ?
