Well, looks like it's finally about that time.
After 8 years of being with Virgin Mobile, I'm finally leaving. I bought the Asus Zenfone 2 and it will be arriving in a few weeks. I think I'll be going with straighttalk as they're offering 5 GB of monthly data for bring your own device.
I'm going to start development on that device. However, I will still keep updating Pac ROM when there are significant changes but I won't be as active on the desire 816 forums anymore. I won't forget to keep checking up though. It's been great working with everyone here so thanks to all who made it a great experience deving for this phone!

Ok, I have been an official owner of this masterpiece since January 6, 2010.. Lol, Stayed up partying that Sunday night.. Never went to sleep.. Sobered right up when I saw the Press release.. Bought it 5 Minutes after the site finally came up after refreshing every 15 seconds.. Whew..
Now, here I stand.. Ready to embark back home to VZW and I have about 5 months left of my account being put on hold.. So no rush.. But.. i see the HTC Desire is coming.. I know I already run A10 from Modaco but I kinda Like the Hardware not for nothing.. So, can Nexus Roms be back-ported to this device since we initially ported it over to us.. In so, is it coming to VZW along with att/t-mobile, Any word.. I know the Legend is going to Sprint, Which i am getting for my Father in law, I last got him a Tour..
I am also seeing that the Nexus comes out for Verizon March 23rd, a pretty solid Google Employee spilled the beans.. So another option could be to Continue to Sell this Nexus and transfer to that.. Then load Modacos Sense Ui CDMA Rom (When Available)... So I guess I ask if Devs, PPL, Gurus, can help here.. I gather and prob 90% assure myself i'm not the Only one in for this... So I guess Keep the thread alive.. Maybe it'll stay here with ideas, workarounds, additions, dev requests with links and etc.. Hopefully until and while these FUTURE devices arrive..
Thanks Guys.
Hope You Guys Liked My Vids... Gonna Make More when More Desire Updates arrive..
I think my head exploded trying to understand what your question was lol

Just wondering, since it says you are in New Jersey, is english your first language?
So what are you saying like.. you want a Desire?

I just got it. I know there are maybe 6 people with the device, so it should've gone out to everyone, right? Either way, I'm not holding my breath for development

I hear you! I missed this post, so I started a new thread with a link to manually download the JB update. It's sad that there is about zero interest in this device! We are there, but our numbers are few!
Anyway, I think this is the last non-nexus Android device I will buy. It takes the mobile operators soooooooooo long to provide updates, and then they end of life it without any support, wouldn't be such a problem if there was a healthy development support, but it is sadly lacking for the G2 - although 'childofthehorn' was awesome in providing the first root access!
so, i have owned my mate 7 since last january. i only used it for about a week (burn in period) and then installed CM11. i was happy until i got itch to try lollipop on my phone. for the last 6 weeks i have been using the stock emui rom and have been living in hell! its just so horrible! i spend alot of time helping people with their phones (flashing roms etc) and feel envy as they enjoy stock custom roms with great features.
last week i managed i was given a nexus 5 after it turned out that the phone had a damaged cell radio so it was useless. i installed the latest CM build and have been loving it (i missed it)!! playing with it has made me somewhat angry that we dont have cm12 on our mate 7's and the odds are good that we will never have cm13.
a few weeks ago after some googling i stumbled upon huaweis user forums. it seems that huawei is starting to pay attention and is willing to at least hear our demands. one particular individual is Taylor Wimberly. he has managed to get sources for a few phones and im hoping that we can convince him to help us get kernel source for us.
so, please help me by showing our need on Huawei Community: Developers Forum. you could also message Taylor Wimberly on his G+. in both cases, i implore that you be civil and courteous. please leave any ideas/suggestions. hopefully something good will come from this.
:crying::crying: I'm beginning to regret ever selling my GX8 for the mate 7. At least I'm rest assured that the GX8 will have CM 14. 1 very soon whiles the amazing mate 7 seem to have no future when it comes to custom roms and even official Android 7 update. What will Huawei lose if they just roll Android 7 or emui 5 for the mate 7 because there isn't that much of a difference between this device and the mate 8.
Huawei is a disappointment and a failure when it comes to updating slightly old devices....
The mate 7 is going to be my last device I will ever purchase from Huawei and they should consider me a dissatisfied lost customer as well as a potential product advertiser.
Year in year out, mobile phone manufacturers release flagship devices with amazing specs yet fews years down the line, it is considered old and no updates are pushed for it.
It's time consumers demanded more than just updates from these manufacturers.
Until then, goodbye HUAWEI.
Dude! I know how you feel. While Huawei is great at hardware, they are **** at software! The problem with the mate 8 and 7 is that they weren't officially released in North America. This made these phones obscure and thus very little interest in building custom ROMs.
The mate 9 will be officially released in a few weeks and will attract devs to build custom ROMs. It sucks but at the same time it's great because future Huawei phones will get better support. For now, I suggest you either upgrade phone, or learn how to build AOSP Android.
Where is the problem with the software right now? Which features of Android 7 / EMUI 6 do you want? I understand that getting updates is always great, but with updates from KitKat to Lollipop to Marshmallow I can't really complain, this device is now more than 2 years old. It was fine when you bought it so why are you unhappy now? I cleaned up my whole device, reformatted external sdcard and flashed Ale's KangVIP rom. My Mate runs so smooth now.

The problem is that ROM itself. Emui is not a pleasant ROM to use when compared to more AOSP ROMs. Even the new emui 5 is still kinda ****! Most major reviewers state that the downfall of Huawei devices are it's software. For those that tolerate/like it, great! But not all of us do. Sadly interest in these devices is not great so dev support is very low.

Yeah, I agree with you but I wish I could build a custom rom for the mate 7 but I'm not a programmer and I have no idea how to even start.

Are you indirectly suggesting that I try KangVIP rom?
It will be great to try that too...

You hit the nail right on the head... Rightly said.
Since my Nexus 5 died a few weeks ago I have had to go back to using the mate 7. Going from CM13 back to emui has been horrible but I have no choice. To make matters worse the only development for the mate 7 has stopped. For those of us that want a stock ROM we need to pool together and pay a dev to build a ROM.
I mentioned before that the only way we will get a ROM is by putting out a bounty or donating a phone to a good dev. I'm willing to put in money or maybe even starting a GoFundMe....... I'm sure there are many mate7 users that are willing to do this. It might even start a conversation on how horrible Huawei is with regard to source sharing and development.

Its been a nightmare for me as well coming back from CM 13 to stock on mate 7.
As a new Xiaomi phone owner I have no idea what to expect. Do we get 2 year full support? Android Q and Android R?
They say one but do different.. because they make so much new phone,in their interest is to sell as more they can so.. you can be happy with one year support.. but hardware are so good and we have developer who give new lives to this phones when Xaomi stop supporting us.

? That don't sound so good. I assumed that 2 years was to expect, but I after buying this phone remembered that 2 years are, most likely, only for flagship phones. I hope We will see at least 1 year.
i also hope so. I only know that we will for sure get MUIU 11 and Android Q.. maybe
The good news is that this phone has sold really well, which increases the chances for good custom ROM support after Mi gives up on it.

Hopefully that's the case... Also a new Xiaomi owner here
judging from the previous iterations of xiaomi phone models, they only provide a single version upgrade to launch OS. you can expect that trend to continue.
but with the kernel code posted in github, this phone will be receiving XDA support for at least 5 years after xiaomi stops supporting it... given that the Redmi 1S is still being supported :good:
I usually use phone for about two years, but lately around 1 year (that is bad). I hope I can use this phone for atleast 2 years. Xiaomi phones have good development community, so phone can have support for longer.
