Interesting idea.
But you should tell people how to check if they got a factory WW version with worldwide LTE support or just a Chinese version cross flashed with WW software...
Buy real version i mean the version that is written on the phone box. On the Chinese version it is written CN, and on the Taiwanese is TW. The international version is signed with WW. You can see it in every unboxing video on youtube
I got mine from an ebay seller. Out of the box there was an update awaiting. Installed that and when I checked it was WW.
4GB 64GB 2.3Ghz version. Along with a Zenpower battery pack, Here is the link:

ZE550ML from EXPANSYS, TW on the box but it got auto updated to WW as it booted. Will it have band 7 LTE? any way to check?

Can't you check the regional version on the phone somehow? Isn't it reported in recovery or fast boot?
If you got to rely on the box label it would be too easy to mislead buyers by some of the sellers ...
This is a good question, does anybody know the answer?

Not sure the definition of real ww version, but I got my 4gb ram 1.86ghz 32b from an authorized retailer in Hong Kong, everyone claim there's only cn version came with this configuration. It is the ww version came with ww firmware, also Google play store pre loaded. $270 out of the door at fortress shop, time square in causeway Bay Hong Kong. Rocking it on tmobile 4g network.
ZE550ML from Expansys. It's WW version. Just put an NTT Docomo network LTE sim (OCN mobile one service) in it today and it is fine on the Japanese LTE bands

Having WW ROM with Play Store doesn't mean much as long you can cross flash CN or TW to WW...
Having LTE coverage would only be a sure sign if you know for sure your provider ONLY uses one of the LTE bands that are not enabled in the CN or TW version in all of its network.
I don't know the real definition of WW though, I believe the phone has to report the factory region somewhere but I don't have it yet to find out...

Hmm I guess so. But I am inclined to believe that the home-grown version of the phone (i.e. TW version) would have the best possible hardware. For instance, LCD panels type, camera sensor, memory type, etc. Because that is usually what differs in other phones such as Sony or Samsung. And in all cases the home-grown versions tend to have better parts. Xperia T comes with different panel types but the original panel type had much better viewing angles (even though its a slight difference).
Anyway this is my experience. I am curious as to why you are looking for the original WW version. The TW version still supports all bands I think.

Hello All,
I just picked up a second GSII for my wife, From Amazon.com. My first phone was from Germany. This time the Phone is from Hong Kong.
Is there anything i should be worried about in regards to having the HK version of this device as opposed to the Euro version?
Can i flash the HK device with EURO firmware such as KG3?
I noticed the Box is 20% taller than my euro box. (this may be due to the HK Power socket)
On the back of the BoX
Euro Box - Shows all the specs WIFI, Android tech, Super Amoled plus , DIVX FULL HD PLAYBACK Multi Codecs, Bluetooth, GPS DLNA 1650 MAh Batter
HK Box - Just Super Amoled PLUS and Android tech. Thats is.
Inside both boxes look the same with same plastic info over the screen
I wanted to know should i keep it or return it? And should i be worried about this.
thank you for your help..
hmm that bigger box doesnt look right..
In addition the hk box says I9100 but euro box says GT-I9100

Return it. No e or ce markings possible fake.

You guys are right, im returning this. I opened the box since its from amazon and i can easily return it. There is no E or CE lables. I have included a photo.
Left is HK
Right is Euro
FYI both say Made by samsung

Isn't the phone functional ? Why do you wanna return it ? Just cause it's from Hong Kong ?
Did you try to boot it up, see if it works / performs the same way ?
No i did not, I contacted Amazon and I got approval for a return. Im going to purchase from a different vendor.

Have you turned it on and tried using it? I sure that HK doesn't use CE mark like Europe does or FCC like America does. If the phone works and is fast then it's legit. You could also try rooting it.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I did not want to bother to even turn it on. Can you even load the EURO variant firmware such as KG3 on this HK variant model? I was thinking there could be issues and I did not want to risk trying.
I think hardware wise it should be almost the same. My version is south america one but I still am able to flash whatever firmware I want. Also if you want to install custom ROM, it doesn't really matter that much.
its FCC/CE standards, hong kong doesnt have any, though i havent seen any confirmed sources which state that the galaxy s 2 is being provided to the hong kong carriers or a country specific version..
By the way, not every country has the same versions as others. Some countries only have a 1 GHz processor and a worse screen.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
I don't have the HK version, but I am from HK; therefore, I can't tell whether it is legit from the box alone. However, all my friends who have the HK version is same as mine (UK version). Specs are the same. You can flash all the roms. And I have been flashing HK roms into mine as well. Everything is fine.
Regarding the box from HK - mine looks identical to yours.
The box is larger simply because the different plug types included.
For the CE sign - that an European norm - why would you find it on a box that is for sale in HK?
On the other hand, you will find the CE sign on the battery and on the phone itself.

No CE label
Hi, I'm using my phone from Hong Kong which I bought in a large electronic shop. I checked the back where the battery is and there also no CE label on, just like your image above
My phone works fine and is now upgraded to ICS.
If bought from Hong Kong rather direct from China I assume it will have an English language option?
Also will it get any kind of update support I assume not outside the region?
Phones bought from OPPO directly, http://oppostyle.com or their(!) verified Amazon store, have an international warranty and have the international firmware and hardware (T-mobile bands are added).
I suggest buying directly from OPPO just to be sure you have warranty (and it's usually cheaper!).
bought mine from Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...iveASIN=B00BA8ZWPO&linkCode=as2&tag=m0494a-20
everything comes in English with the International version, even the paper work inside the box
and yes it gets constant OTA updates from Oppo. but this last update releasded yesterday was not OTA

The pre-order is for the "Midnight Black" Find 5 (only available in 32GB). The white model is available in both 16GB and 32GB (showing in stock as of this post).
Chinese stock rom has English language option too.
also you can install CM10.1
Hi all!
I have a friend, who lives in Hong Kong and would be able to easily buy and get the phone back to me (his sister is an air stewardess) so yay for me. The 64gb option works out to be about £410-420 taking into account currency rates, which is a massive saving!
Problem is:
1) I can't check the Hong Kong version of the Google store so I can't check the availability but my friend says it's not there yet. Does anyone know when they usually stock it? I've tried using Hola extension to see if I could emulate an Hong Kong I.P address but didn't get anywhere with that.
2) Will be any band issues etc if I was to use the phone here with a sim-only contract here in the UK? How would after-sales work?
Thanks for any help!
2. HK should be the international version and fine for the UK. Zero aftersales unless you return it via the route you got it.
I'm visiting Hong Kong today and tomorrow. Can you buy the international version In any shops or is it only the Play store?
so the OG roms google released are only for one model. Since they have two Nexus 6p does the same OEM roms work on both models?
i.e. these:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en#angler
The best way is to ask your friend to order one sim free in the UK and send it to HK. So that you can enjoy the VAT free but to pay £20 something for delivery. Then send it back to UK for you. You will also have the local customer service in the UK.
However, I think those UK sim free vendor with international delivery does not have stock at this moment.

Hmm yes that is an option but then I'll have to deal with getting the tax back etc. I think I'll risk it with getting one from HK as it'll be a bit more straight forward. There doesn't seem to be any quality control issues does there?! Hopefuly I'll get a good one and won't ever need to worry about returning it etc..

No, I'm saying the HK should be the international version with UK bands fully supported. The US version only supports some of the UK LTE bands.
HK version support below freq (6P) - it lists
GSM/EDGE:850/900/1800/1900MHz
UMTS/WCDMA:B1/2/4/5/6/8/9/19
TD-SCDMA:34/39
CDMA:BC0/1
LTE (FDD):B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/9/17/19/20/28
LTE (TDD):B38/B39/40/41
CA DL:B1-B5、B1-B8、B1-B19、B3-B3、B3-B5、B3-B7、B3-B8、B3-B19、B3-B20、B3-B28、B5-B7、B7-B7、B7-B20、B7-B28、B39-B39、B40-B40、B41-B41

Hi All,
I just got an A2017G from an online retailer based out of China (I am in Canada). The phone is on an old firmware version A2017Gv1.0.0B11. I cannot see any OTA updates but I know that Nougat has been released for this phone. I can see that there are no updates on the ZTE site for the Hong Kong region and it's stock version is B11 so I assume this is from Hong Kong, but I really have no idea on how to check.
I would like to know if I can tell which region this phone is from and which version of Nougat I should be able to download and flash from B11.
I can see a list of them (for example b04 for Australia, B06 for Turkey, B08 for Germany) here

I think the difference is mainly in things like the Wifi frequency, but I could be wrong. I never found a good clarification of this topic either...
B11 is a pretty new MM ROM and also I think a rollback ROM to regress from Nougat. Mine came with older than B10, I flashed B10 MM then B04 N
German B08 is newer and maybe supports VoLTE if that's of use with your carrier.
Pretty sure the main thing is the ROM was for the same model phone. Don't use an A2017U or A2017 ROM on an A2017G. When it's started first time (or reset) you choose language so as long as locale is correct it should work but it needs to have correct telephony bands to access local celular networks. With location set it should run on the correct wifi channels.
B06 did the trick. Just used sd card update method.

Yeah, the point is that Aliexpress vendors buy A2017's, install A2017G software on them with a special process, and add a paper on the box saying that you won't get OTA's and it's actually not a G, but it seems to be in Chinese.
If that was the case, the software would have said A2017G but the phone, A2017. Just wanted to make sure

Yeah I understand. The phone was from Gearbest. I wouldn't get LTE if it were the A2017 so I would have known right away. Not that I trust Gearbest more than Aliexpress (I haven't ever had a problem with either with about 4 or 5 purchases on both), but this one seems legit.

actually I think only A2017's come with it, and i think the Aliexpress sellers put it there.
Nothing pre applied. I've double checked the box and no screen protector. I think the gearbest site says it comes with one so just be aware it doesn't. I have never used a screen protector on my phones and have never had an issue. Also mine came with Euro plug by ZTE with a cheap adapter in the mail bag, so another confirmation it is the a2017g. It was a good deal for $300CAD. I am really happy with the phone.
I am waiting to receive one from GearBest. I think it will not come with Portuguese language. Could you please confirm if Portuguese language is supported on the original ROM, or on the B06 upgrade?

Honorbuy mobile shop is already offering the global version. Unfortunately just in black and just the 4 GB option.
The question is, if this website got the global version already, why aren't we seeing it on bigger and more known ones (like aliexpress, cect shop, tradingshenzhen, etc..)
What do you guys think?
The phone is released in HK & Singapore if I am not wrong (or about to get released in SP). So there is a global version floating around the markets.
HB was also the first EU dealer to have the CN version in their EU Warehouse. Those guys are fast.

Please check the item tile,if it includes "Global Version",then the phone is Global Version. If item title only says "Original",it's a Chinese Version.

Yeah but youre in UK. I live in USA. Plus the link you posted is selling it for about $350 when I can get it $100 cheaper elsewhere.

Still too expensive from there. What do you think about buying from Aliexpress? Do you know if they sell the real official global version there?

Had terrible experience with Mi Global Store on AliExpress and Gearbest; I ended up canceling both before going with TradingShenzhen. I trust TradingShenzhen, WondaMobile, and Gearbest because of their reliability and consistency.
becareful with ali, those marked global version might be global rom. i prefer those saying presale seen more real. also i m doubt there are global version with xiaomi.eu rom, that is not global version!!!

Appreciate the help. But WondaMobile and gearbest are selling the mi max 3 too costly.
I wanna make sure I get the official global rom that can be rooted without any problems. Also, theres something call antirollback. Is this a good thing to have on the phone?

So you suggest I buy presale mi max 3? I'm just confused here. Should I buy the chinese version then flash the global rom on it? Hope you can my remove my confusion about this phone. Thanks.
Chinese version... Global version... They are all the same in different box and charger plug maybe. Why would you care about the rom... Flash and use whatever you want...
I bet everyone is buying Xiaomi products not for the software but for the reasonably/cheap priced hardware.

rumors saying the global rom ali is selling is fake global rom that may damage phone, also giving user trouble flashing official rom. i cant confirm if it is true, but i wont risk it.

The key word here is RUMORS coming from MIUI forums... Since when official MIUI forum had any credibility!? It's like middle east market over there - everybody tallks, nobody listens... Not to mention thair moderators which have no idea what is going on behind the Xiaomi's doors but act like insiders...
Fake? Maybe... You could say the same for the 9.6.6 one as well which is straight from Xiaomi's servers and has the same mobile data issues like the "fake" 9.6.4 one.
Damaging phone? Comm on...!? Problems flashing roms is mainly(if not all) user's errors.
Anyway... I get what you are saying and respect that...
Ordered what I thought was China version last Sunday from eBay, shipped Monday from Texas, got it today(Friday)... genuine GLOBAL VERSION, factory sealed with locked bootloader, complimentary US plug adapter... Go figure...

I usually buy from nvsrp. But I wanted the 6gb/128gb Chinese version which is only available at the time from Trading Shenzhen. But all other phones I buy from him on eBay. I bought my mi Max 2 4gb/64gb and 4gb/128gb both global rom from him. If I could not get the mi Max 3 I was contemplating a Nokia 7 plus, but Trading Shenzhen came thru. My two cents.
