[Q] Can we supercharge? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If so, how? I did a fair amount of searching and checked out the original supercharger thread, sorry if this is a simple question but if it is then a simple answer will work. I've had previous phones supercharged but it's been a long time since I've run any scripts. Vzw S5, moar rom 5.0

[Q] Question about Flashing ROMS & available ROMS

Hi, I've been reading through the forums for the past couple days and I just have a few questions about flashing a new ROM to my phone. First of all, I'll start out by saying that I have a new ATT&T Galaxy S4 I337. It is my first Android phone so I'm still getting used to it, but I am fairly technically savvy so I believe I am capable of doing the more complex tasks.
So anyway, I just have a few quick questions. First of all, I wanted to know, if I flash a custom ROM, will I be able to restore my information afterwards from a backup taken through Kies? Such as contacts, calendars, music, apps, accounts, etc? I understand I also need a kernel backup for recovery in case of failure, but will I be able to restore personal data normally?
Next, I was a bit confused about which ROMS will work on my phone and which will not. I see there are a lot more ROMS available for the Verizon version than the AT&T version, but it seems some will work on both. Is this the case? I just want to be safe as to not cause myself unnecessary headache later.
I like the ability to customize, and I liked the idea of the Aroma installer. Are there any ROMS available for the I337 that have the aroma installer built in? Is it possible to use the aroma installer for any ROM? I was a bit confused on this.
Finally, can you guys recomend any particular ROMS? I was looking for something with a fairly stock feel, fully unlocked features and settings and cleaned up bloatware, although maybe not everything. I want something that will run cleanly and smoothly.
Thank you so much, all the information on this site has been so helpful and useful.
I have a guide, and it also has 2 threads for a starting point, check them also, before using my method. I have tested these roms to work with your device...please read the info in my guide.

You can ask questions in my thread.
Good luck sir.
Thanks you.

[Q] Different Threads for GPE and normal S5?

This is directed toward the Moderators - Seeing as the Google Play Edition is a different phone than the normal SM-G900V, can we get a different section of threads for each??
I don't post a lot but I spend a lot of time on XDA. I'll try just about anything with my phone, but I am by no means an expert. I currently have the VZW SGS5 (SM-G900V). I am rooted with Super SU Pro installed and working great (SU Binaries updated and Knox Disabled). I have just installed Xposed for the first time and am looking for other things to do with my phone. As soon as SafeStrap or another method is working to install Custom ROMS (TW Based or otherwise) I will most likely do so asap.
Maybe I am not understanding their similarities, but it seems logical to have different threads for these phones so that we don't have to sift through things that pertain to a phone we do not have and possibly even try to install something that is not meant for our phones.

After we get some kind of custom recovery for the retail version like safestrap I would like to see all the DE threads moved to the Verizon Galaxy S 5 Original Android Development section like it's done in the VZW Note 3 development section. It would cut out a lot of confusion as well.

Q&A for [ROM][G900H][4.4.2]Zephyr Lite v3,Rooted,Knox Free,Debloated,Odexed, ANK1 TW Rom
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [ROM][G900H][4.4.2]Zephyr Lite v3,Rooted,Knox Free,Debloated,Odexed, ANK1 TW Rom. possibility for a custom kernel for lollipop g900h
hey, i own a galaxy s5 G900h exynos variant. there are absolutely no good custom kernels for this model. is there a possibility that someone might make one with cpu, gpu OC and more governors. i have become so frustrated that i want to learn to make roms and custom kernels myself. if anyone would please build a kernel for us or guide me through the steps then u will be making a lot of people happy.
Many thanks!
Installed all ok.
Just need to install Samsung email app from bloatware zip you provided. What should the permissions be set to?

Never mind. I Found the correct folder and file settings you kindly provided in post #111 on http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/rom-zephyr-lite-v1-rooted-knox-free-t2841674/page12
For the un-initiated, (like me) copy the required app's folder (from the bloatware .zip) and paste it to your system/app folder, set the permissions and reboot.
Voila!
Thanks again for rom for G900H. Lolipop is certainly smoother / faster than KitKat!
I am new at this so very sorry about this question.... Will this rom work in India... on India phones?
Hello,
I would like to know, for some of my apps like Facebook, Clash of Clan, Fling ... When I launch them, i have a black screen and the app crash.
Do you have a solution ?
I read on a forum that maybe CoC is not compatible for Lolipop. But what's about Facebook ?
Best regards, thank you
EDIT : I reinstalled the rom. Maybe the problem came from Titanium Backup, cause I did a restore.
Bloatware
Hi, I installed your ROM. So far so good. I was wondering the other bloatware file how do I instal it, I mean there are certain apps from the stock ROM I would love to use.
I've been using this rom for a week now and it's super! Love it!
Is this basically lollipop Boad build but lighter, faster and without boatware? If I have already installed stock Boad on my g900h, and I already have a custom recovery should I follow step 2 or just wipe and install via custom recovery?
Updating
Hi,
1st of all congratulations on a great Lollipop ROM for the G900H.
I have installed on my G900H the Zephyr Lite v4 BOA7 version, comming from the BOAD Stock ROM and everything works GREAT!!!
My baseband/BootLoader is already BOAD.
So I just want to know if I need to do a clean install to instal the Zephyr Lite v4 BOAD, or just a "simple update."
Thanks,
youpi for zephyr rom 900H

request for custom kernel
hey there. been rocking your rom for about a week now. great battery life and performs quite good. did a full wipe before installling. everything looks good. not many bugs as such. i just wanted to request you if you could make a cystom kernel with your rom. with governors, cpu and gpu oc and extra i/o schedulers. our G900H has no good ones . i would be happy to test whatever u build. just pm me or email me at [email protected]

Asking about root for Lollipop (a small community rebuke)

Hello guys,
at first I want to say that I am really happy to be a member of this community, where so many users from different countries with different devices come together
and conducting experience exchange. This community is really important for every G3 user, especially to be updated on latest software or to solve problems.
But what really drives me nuts is the ongoing asking about how to root Lollipop in every possible thread.
The answers are mostly the same, what makes this question (let it be a post or a thread) almost useless.
Not only that it annoys me if I am continuously reading the same things, it also makes the whole forum confusing and relevant informations may go missing.
Why we cant create a seperate thread for rooting Lollipop whereto all this issue regarding threads will get removed?
And let us be honest: If you are not able to collect knowledge about rooting from the already existing threads, you shouldnt do it anyway.
Sorry but that had to be said
Just my 2 cents!

Wrong section for your REBUKE. We have Mods who determine whats right or wrong to post and they delete or move threads accordingly.
This rant is a waste of time and space. IMO should be in the Q & A Section but thats for the moderators to decide.
The next big thing will be to ROOT the G3 in its Lollipop/ART state which is why you see this question asked everywhere.
whoever comes up with a way to do this is worthy of praise.
I think the hardest thing to do is 1) Tell everyone at once that it doesn't exist yet, and 2) Tell everyone once it's achieved!
Sticky's do not work, in this day and age where information is so readily and quickly available, most people will not read pages of Q&A, no point discussing it it just will not happen.
Would be nice if once root on stock is done, that a message could be sent to anyone who's posted keywords 'root' + 'stock' under the LG G3 forums. Maybe that's an app in itself. IFFFT + Pushbullet etc etc
I second that my man. RoOT me stock G3 xda
we want to do something about the root Lollipop, please let
Hey guys, I'm using the d852 variant , upgraded to lollipop recently via the OTA, and obviously lost root because of it. Can anyone PLEASE help me get root back?! I've skimmed every post on XDA and not a single one mentions root for lollipop . thanks in advance

Hi Friend,
Please try this thread that I just created: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-update-to-lollipop-root-bumpd-twrp-t3048845
...it's tested to be working fine for my LG G3 variant (D858HK). The steps are from this original thread; I just added an extra manual step (and my thread looks long because I tried to detail the step, with pictures).

[Q&A] Best Flash Rom From Stock

Hey Everyone!
Carrier: Sprint
Phone: SM-G900P
Android Version: 5.0
Kernel version: 3.4.0
Root?: No but I need to be now!
(So pretty much all Stock Everything)
Experience: Baby/Noob
I have not rooted an android for about 2 years(And that was for my galaxy s2) and a lot has changed! I used to know a good amount but getting on this website instantly overwhelmed me. SOOO getting to my question
1.) What is the best rom that you have flashed?
-Doing a search I found the [MOAR] Rom but it was posted last January(and updated 08/27/2015) So it seems it would be out dated right? http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...om-v5-0-mod-control-floating-windows-t3016692
-Also found this one from CARBON Rom but it seems to have a problem playing media well over bluetooth(which I use constantly so that may be a problem. http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s5/development/rom-carbonrom-kltespr-t3225270
- Found this one by rwilco12 it seems to be pretty much like stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...m-sm-g900p-og1-stock-rooted-deodexed-t3226240
2.) Do you have any advice for searching and finding new mods on this site? (There is just sooo much stuff)
Thanks for any help!!!
Your Biggest Fan,
CB

So I have an answer to my second question and I guess the best way is to go to the development section of your phone company.
For Sprint: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s5/development
Kinda obvious but honestly for someone as dyslexic and ADHD as me I get on here and am looking for something in big bold letters with everything I am thinking at that moment. Whenever I don't see that my brain explodes and causes me to have a tiny seizure. I am all better now.
Still curious about my first question. What is the best Rom for Sprint SM-G900P in your opinion?

I'm fairly new to all of this myself, but I can only suggest flashing the rom version from Resurrection Remix group. I've had this rom on my previous device (I9300), and since I loved it so much, I decided to continue on my latest device upgrade - the SM-G900F Just follow this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/unified-development/rom-resurrection-remix-5-3-4-t3033255

Thanks for the answer man! Will this version only work for the SM-G900F or will it also work for the SM G900P?
This is my plan for now
1.) Do the CF auto root. (that way I can download titanium backup to backup all of my stuff)
2.) Format phone
3.)Then re-root with either your suggestion or the MOAR root.
Any more suggestions?
Does anyone have any more suggestions about which root I should use
or comments about my plan of action in my previous post?
