HDMI not working - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Plugging it into my monitor doesn't work. Nothing happens. I've tested with another tablet so I know it's not the cable.
Is it a faulty hdmi port?

But I'm using stock 5.1.1.

No idea if stock enables all settings and HDMI should work natively.. Low Bluetooth power, some USB and otg driver are not enabled by default on stock ROMs. I had HDMI not working on one or two ROMs I used in the past. You might try to flash something else. And if'its not working then you were actually right about broken port

Wireless keyboard (not bluetooth) works!

Ever since I saw the Host enabled USB port hack via Tiamat I've been wondering if my wireless Logitech keyboard via Unify would work and how awesome it eventually will be...today I am happy to say that it is confirmed!
I've just received my host cable and as soon as I pluged the unify usb dongle in the port, the keyboard worked natively, no driver or anything else...it could be just me, but I think it's pretty freaken awesome! even ctrl+T opens a new tab...
that is all, k thx for reading
That is cool. Not sure that they make too many portable mini 2.4 keyboard though.
Not sure about mini keyboard selections, but this implies any keyboard that would work natively on your pc should work fine with the xoom with usb host enabled.
EDIT: found both efo and logitech make quite small keyboards for google tv, which would work also for the xoom.
Forgot to mention, I've noticed the xoom restarting more than once while i have the host cable pluged in and the usb dongle, Im not sure this is a result of 1. Tiamat 1.3.0 2. Usb Host cable 3. Unify keyboard drawing too much power?

Some time ago I posted a similar experience when I connected a USB keyboard to the OTG cable. It might be linked to the keyboard. I have not had an HDD connected for more than a few minutes so I should try that.
random Q....tiaman 1.1.6 and 1.3.0 already incorporated the host mode hack?

That was the reason for me to load the Tiamat 1.1.6 kernel. To my knowledge it's still in 1.3.0. You might also want to check the guide enable mounting of NTFS volumes!

I also have a wireless logitech. I bought an OTG microusb->usb and it worked without any modifications (no tiamat, etc)
any chance a wireless (non BT) mouse would work this way?

Highly unlikely. Even a generic mouse will require some kind of drivers and a pointer is not implemented routinely AFAIK.

[Q] [DEV/REQUEST] USB Controller Support Kernel

Since we have not 1 but 2 working 3.1 ROMs for our beloved devices...how long after we get the 3.1 OTA do you think we can incorporate USB controller support on our fantastic new ROMs?
Chlballi
on this topic,
you will probably be seeing kernel fixes today
so you know.
In both HoneyVillain and Dexter's Aconia P1 roms, my Logitech F510 is recognized (using Xinput mode) and I've been using it with snes9x ex. The Xinput mode emulates an XBOX360 controller, so I figure those must work as well.
my honeyvillain didnt recognize my cheap analog chinese gamepad..
is there no way to make these cheap pad recognized?
fyi it only work in windows, not even on my mac os
but i hope some devs can make it to emulate like xbox controller like on windows which are needed for some games like gta IV
so one thing i've noticed w/ the xoom and other 3.1 tablets is that the usb controller support uses the micro-usb to female USB adapter then you plug in the controller to that... the MICRO usb port, I suspect that is the issue, we're all trying to plug the controler in to the full size usb ports just because we have it. If someone is able to (i don't have the adapter) try using the micro usb port with a micro - full adapter and get back before we start having the devs make these crazy changes.
also, i support the idea of making the full usb ports work with controllers like that so don't take this post the wrong way i just have this feeling that the intended use is for the micro - full adapters rather than our full port

asus and xoom uses the micro usb , as it has a chipset that support usbmode switching, so it can run in host or device mode.. nothing else..
its special in that way support OTG android mode, cable is a little different too with ground attached to different pin, but thats it..
we got the right usb port as i know it, and since we got a device usb port we dont need usbport mode switching here..
well i understand that we have the right usb port i'm just theorizing that because all the other tablets out there that use 3.1 only have micro then most likely support for the full sized port wasn't baked into 3.1 for people like us.. might take a small feat to get it working on full usb for us.
then again i don't know for sure, its just a theory i came up w/ after looking into it myself
Perhaps you all are testing wrong. I found an emulator for Snes that works with my usb controller. SuperGnes.
No issues for me playing nes emulators with my wired 360 controller.
anyone managed to get a usb cd rom working? I've tried plugging one in but nothing so far. running dexters primee 8

any dev maybe can port ps3 controller driver from asus to acer ??
as now we have kernel code (even its only 3.0.1 code, but as i understand with some modification its possible )
yes, my 360 wired controller works fine.
ps3 controller support via USB is now added to my kernel..
for other kernel modders..
its just including "CONFIG_HID_SONY" and its all solved, so you know..
its not default with acer kernel.
So still no go on non-sony controllers?

kernel got lotsa choices, so details for which to choose , if a research, and adding all of them is probably not the best to do..
maybe you can search google on your joystick + linux kernel ,and see what pops up. maybe a simple yes or no for support, og some techno babble explaining how to add it..

[Solved] DIY usb otg cable not working, where did I go wrong?

Hello.
I decided to try and make a DIY OTG usb cable for my atrix, followed one of the many guides on the web.
How ever, Nothing seem to happen when I plug something to the phone.
I tried keyboards, mice, pen tablets, thumb drives, but nothing happens.
Also when I connect the phone to my laptop with the same cable, nothing happens either. (From reading around I think that should be expected)
Using another cable the laptop recognize the phone and all is well so I didn't fry the port.
Something else that might be worth mentioning, I use a male micro usb to male regular usb and a converter to female at the end of that one.
I tried it with both latest CM7 nightly and Jokers 0.6.9.1 CM9, both on their stock kernels.
So am I forgetting / missing something or should I take apart the cable again and check what's wrong?
Edit:
Toke apart the cable, removed the connection between pin4 and pin5 and the cable worked as a normal cable again.
Can't think of a reason why this isn't working.
normal OTG cables don't work with atrix,
I have read somewhere that you need to power the otg cable with external power source, you can mod a powered usb hub for example
Thank you.
I don't have a powered hub, nor a regular hub...
So I'll try to make a usb y cable that will power the mouse/keyboard and see if that will work.
Edit:
That did the trick.
Made a Y cable that connects the data between the phone (with OTG cable between) and device and an extension that connects both to power only (currently from laptop usb).
At first it didn't work at all but after a few tries it started to charge the phone, allowed me to connect a DOK and a mouse.
However didn't want to work for a 250HDD or a pen tablet.
I ordered a usb hub and hopefully it will allow me to connect several devices at once.
Thanks again.
I've messed around with this quite a bit. Unfortunately, it seems Faux kernels don't work great with a variety of devices, but work fine for mouse/keyboard. Don't even work very well for USB flash drives and such. I don't even know where to go to report such issues.
This also means on Joker's CM9 it doesn't work great even if it should. Don't forget that CM9 port is still using a Froyo (!) kernel.
It's honestly not even worth building your own cable. You can get hubs that work for this for $5 such as this one:
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/cable-style-dual-power-1000ma-usb-2-0-4-port-hub-13526
Which is the one I currently have.
I'm currently using latest CM7 with the stock kernel and have no issues with USB flash drives.
It usually brings a notification of "preparing SD card" and mounts it under /mnt/usbdisk_1.0
I tried making 4 partitions on a flash drive, EXT2, EXT4 , FAT32 and NTFS .
Thought it only mounted one of them on /mnt/usbdisk_1.0 , it was easy to mount the others /dev/block/sda<1,2,3,4> onto /mnt/usbdisk_1.<1,2,3,4> thus having simultaneous access to all 4 partitions.
How ever the NTFS one only had read permissions since android and NTFS don't go together too well.
The hub you linked to is just a hub, I needed an OTG cable and ordered a 0.99$ usb hub that I will modify for power. so pretty much all set now.
As to reporting such issues, you could ask on the forums if other people have the same issues and how they get around them.
I got these:
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/micro-usb-on-the-go-host-otg-adapter-pair-50774
I tried all sorts of devices, not least of which was a 360 controller. The kernels are very spotty at recognizing new devices being attached.
this is on CM9 of course
I haven't tried to replicate that on CM7 because, frankly, CM7 isn't supposed to support 360 controllers.
The hub I linked is very convenient. It already has a USB power lead as well as a lead for the OTG adapter.

S7 Edge not seeing USB 3.0 flash drives???

I have a new S7 Edge. Works great. Using the OTG connector provided with the phone by Samsung, it recognizes all sorts of great devices, including usb flash drives. However, I've tried it with 3 different brand/size USB 3.0 flash drives and it doesn't recognize any of them, despite the fact that if I pull it out and plug in a USB 2.0 flash drive, it comes right up.
Is there a special app/setting for USB 3.0 flash drives or is this a limitation? I know the port on the phone itself is only USB 2.0, but 3.0 is backwards compatible, otherwise you couldn't plug a 3.0 flash drive into any 2.0 port. My guess is that the OTG adapter doesn't somehow work with them, but I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this and if there's a work-around or not.

Are you rooted? Try using StickMount, if you are.

No, I'm not rooted. And I don't want to be. I heard that the Xbox One controller should be able to work with the S7 using the provided OTG adapter, but whenever I plug the controller in, the phone goes into a reboot loop.

LEX720 : Is USB OTG working

Hi everybody,
I want to know if USB OTG is working on Stock rom. I´ve installed Cydras rom which works very fine, but no OTG due to connect my music Stick.

HI
I tried almost all the Roms and its working even in twrp mod
The problem must be the adapter
On cydras rom, I confirm the OTG working. Its something on your end.

If your music stick identifies as MTP, it wont work with any OTG supported Android phone. Any device you connect should identify as Removable Storage device to work perfectly.
I use Cydras rom and OTG doesn't work. But maybe I didn't use a good cable. On the old phone when I connected to PC it shows 3 options, usb storage, media device mtp and camera ptp. With X720 I have only Media device MTP and Camera PTP. There is no USB Storage option.

I meant to say, the storage device you want to connect to Le Pro 3 should identify as Portable Storage device only (like those flash drives from Kingston, A-Data, SanDisk etc).
2ndly use a direct Type-C TO OTG converter. Don't use the Type - C to Micro USB to OTG converter (thats two converter adapters in a row and mostly the Type-C to Micro USB converters out there lack the common connection necessary for OTG.
I used 2 convertors. I have to buy a Type-C TO OTG converter and see later. Thanks
Thanks Guys, I´v solved the problem.
It was the adaptor (!!!) from Micro USB (OTG cable) to Micro-C.
Now I bought a Stick (64GB) from ADATA including OTG, micro-C and normal USB 3.1 connectors. Everything works fine and no OTG-cable.
Listening (headphone) and streaming music (in car) using V4a sounds very good.
have a nice WE
I solved too, bought a proper adapter.
Cascading two adapters for OTG is hit or miss. A reasonable quality USB-C host adapter is like $2-3 from Amazon, so not much point cobbling something together.
