So i have a stock samsung tab 4, non-rooted and have had no issues untill now. i was relaxing and watching a anime series on my tab with my headphones in, like i do every night and the volume was working perfectly fine then suddenly a pop sound came through the headphones and the volume of the headphones drastically dropped to almost the point of not being there at all. i pulled out the headphones and tested the built in speaker volume and it was perfectly fine, i then got another pair of headphones and tried them, but the extremely low volume still remained, i even used the headphones on my iphone and they worked like they should, so i know that its not the headphones. i reset my device even installed the newest update that i was was putting off due to laziness. but the issue persists. i even very carefully poked inside the headphone jack (female jack) with a paper clip just in case something was jammed in there, i also tried pushing abit harder on the the headphone jack but also nothing. i checked all my seting and they are were they should be, also i only have two apps installed which are crunchyroll and vlc media player which i installed months ago the day i got the device. im very hesitant on doing a factory reset at this point, ill only do it as a last resort, so if anyone has any ideas or fixes that would be awesome. and dont mention the samsung support team i already tried. bunch of script pushers.

I also had this problem once but it was fixed after some restarts and never experienced it again Might be a problem with the headphone jack of the tablet.
And also is the device tab 4 7 inch version ?
hi, the only thing i can think of is to go to your setting for sound and disable safe volume settingmfor headphone/earphones,
also if stock has dsp manager, [i can't remember] turn it off or set it to defaults.

ill continue to restart it more times and hope for it to fix itself, and yes its the 7 inch screen.
Thank me for this fix
Easy fix
1.Turn device off
2. Make sure your headphones are plugged ALL the way in (you should hear a click sound)
3. Press the on/off button and the volume up button at the SAME TIME
4. Once the screen is on let the on/off button go
5. DO NOT let the volume up button go
6. Wait until the tablet has finished loading all settings up.
7. Let volume up button go.
Problem should be fixed now.

M,
hi, could you go into detail as to what that does ? Meaning, is there some sort of device reset occurring [volume], or is this a bug
and if so , is it outlined somewhere in detail? I ask because some resources are available in kernel/platform sources and i'm curious if
some of those libraries can be fixed and re-compiled as a patch for the stock rom. Thanks.

Hello,
i have a problem with my device: it has stopped to make sounds (as the click on selections, the music from a mp3, the ring of a call) i can hear the voice of the speaker in a phone call. But i can listen to everything if i put the headset on. It seems like the device is switched in "headset mode" turning off the main speaker. When i plug and unplug the headset i can hear (sometimes) the sound to come back, just to shut off the second later.
I've tried soft and hard reset and i've even installed the news rom: once installed it seems to work properly.. but this morning is "mute" again..
anyone would help this poor guy?
thanks in advance!
Execus me for this question, but I have to exclude the obvious. Did you try raising the volume utilizing the speaker icon on the top bar?
The volume is at the max and all the sounds are enabled.

Are you using any siftware which might conflict with the OS?
Test the volume with no software installed and BOTH sliders at the maximum (UP)position, also bear in mind that the installed windows media player has a volume slider of its own.
Sadly not: the problem is still there even after an hardware reset, without any other software installed. And if i plug the headset i can hear everything, so the volume is up.
It seems like the device is finding the headset even if they are not plugged, thus turning the main speaker off.
...maybe a broken loudspeaker...
I'm afraid to say this , but before to have my trinity I experienced a similar problem with my old JAMin , were the loudspeaker suddenly stopped working and only with a new one ( loudspeaker) I recovered the correct " voice" of the device.
in this case it seems to be the same , but to be sure you should be able to mesure the impedance of it ; normally should be around 30 ohms ...
when mine was broken , it was completely "open" ....
but to do this you have to open the device !!!!
I'm sorry , any other idea...

From what you say i think we can safely rule out the loudspeaker being damaged(you wouldn't have been able to hear anything ,not even for a second), it's more than likely that your problem has to do with the miniusb audiojack which might be shorting out,the only thing you can do before taking the device to a service center is insert a miniusb cable in the jack and carefully move it sideways and up and down, this might resolve the issue.

And... sucking the jack... although this might gives a too strong picture of how much you love your trinity
Thanks a lot,
moving the jack seems to solve the issue sometimes..
I was wondering: are there any settings on the registry to avoid the use of the headset: maybe if i can set the device to never use the headset the problem with the switch could be bypassed...
lost sound
well my trinity just did the same thing.
Was working fine one minute, then suddenly no sound. Plug in the headset and it works fine, but without the headset I can connect to a call but i can not hear the other person and strangely they cannot hear me. Seems like my phone is stuck in headset mode somehow.
Haven't done a hardrest yet, but i guess thats next . . .
I have Motorola S9 Bluetooth headset, but when I put i in pairing mode, and search with the phone, nothing comes up. I have tried alot of times and nothing, any suggestions? Thanks
I had to try 20+ times before I got mine to pair up. Hope you like music with zero depth... I regret buying those things
i had a similar problem like that. my phone wouldnt see the headset. i had to factory restart the thing..and it suddenly works now. . i dont know the protocol for factory restoring the thing, might have to hunt for it. mine was to hold the volume and power buttons down for 10 seconds.
p.s. i have the H670

Where did you get the protocol for factory restoring the H670?
i hunted on every site i could. i eventualy found it on the manual of the device from the motorola site. kinda wierd when the same identical manual is still sitting on my desk
I made it, just some difference from what is written in the manual about the linking operation.
Do you have any big problems when you are outdoor. For example when i'm outdoor and listen music , if the phone is in my pocket it stops from time to time (very often), if i wear it in my hand it is also fine (almost no stops of the music)
Indoor no problems at all, no matter where is the phone no connection problems
i havent used it much for audio. bad enough the kaiser has a bad battery, but sucking 3G juice and bluetooth? lol. i use the headphone part when im on the train and dont feel like holding the phone to my head. plus the double ear pieces helps drown out more of the train roar. the only cons ive gotten so far is a high pitched frequency. wether on or off the train. might be the bluetooth peice...i woudnt know untill getting a new headset
Ok, so I should first state that I am a very ruff user of my 910c and have droped quite a few times and have even cracked the screen (which I have since fixed)... So with that being said, my device now seems to crash when I trigger events which produce some noises. At first I thought that It could be a hardware malfunction (which I still haven't ruled out) but not all sounds cause my device to crash. The only ones that I have discovered are setting the volume (notification and/or ringer) to MAX (other volume settings are fine and I hear the beeps), and when I click any soft button in iGO8.
I have tried to reflash with the verson on HP's website, and have also tried benjaminries wm 6.5 rom to no success...
So could this be a hardware prob? sound file prob? or a bit of both?
Thanks all.
"sounds " like hardware problem but u can try things that may give u more time till your next visit at repair shop
try the sound with wire headset by doing so u r checking the device amp
try bt headset ,u can force all sound 2 go over bt by using 3part app (lots of freeware-googe sound over bt)
good luck
Oooo, never thought of that. Will test with my wire and bt headsets tonight.
Thanks!
So I tried the wired headset and everything worked, so you were right.. hardware.
Decided to open everything back up just incase I bent some of the connectors when I put it back togeather after fixing the broken screen, and took the time to clean them as well. Took my time puttitng it back togeather and what do you know, It works.. Ha.
Thanks again for the troubleshooting tip erezyad
If, like me, you have problems while using your HD2 like a music player... Here is the solution: don't stop the phone...
What I'm telling here is simple: It seems that, when using the poweroff/sleep/red button, the phone goes into sleep a little to deeply to be able to play music. You'll have music break or just stopping at the end of the track.
My solution is to "just" lock the phone (Start => Lock) and then, in the pocket... It will sleep by it-self soon.
Another key feature I was unable to use if I "force sleep" my phone is to change the playing volume... Try by your self and tell me if it helps you too
no problem here playing music after pressing the red button to send to phone to sleep. music plays fine for hours.

Mine works also fine
Sorry for the bump but im having a different issue with the music tab, some1 might know a solution and i didnt feel like adding a new thread for something this 'small'
Well, i just today got my phone, and ive (obviouslly) been playing with it a bit, but something akward has happend, at first, when in the music tab, the side button controled the volume of the music, but now (hell idk what i did) it suddenlly changes the tracks when i press volume up/down.
(btw, did you guys get manuals? i just got a quick start wich doesnt cover half the tabs, including music tab)
I must have pushed something somewhere, but im clueless, anyone know what it could be?
I've never normally noticed any problems playing music with the phone on or in stand-by. Although when its plugged in and charging, FM radio does tend to freeze a few miliseconds every 30 seconds. But on battery power everything is just fine
don't have this problem :S
Actually, about my issue, i solved it, in a way you could say its a audio-plug-bug (like seen before in htc devices) i plugged in the headset and now its volume again, ive tried some stuff like unplugging while playing, on music or other tab, but wasnt able to reproduce yet, strange.

I've got no problems playing music and locking device. However, I have the volume key issue and the only thing that fixes it is a soft reset. I haven't been able to work out why it starts changing tracks instead of volume to start with. Anyone got any suggestions?

I had this issue just today, on top of the numerous other issues ive had. I did a soft reset and the volume buttons started behaving again.
However i noticed a different bug with the headphones. When i was listening to music on them and the phone locked, when i tried to unlock it by sliding the lock slider, i found the screen completely unresponsive. Unplug the phones and the screen responded. plug them back in, unresponsive. Maybe unplugging the phones would have solved the volume keys misbehaving as well, as it did for you. i dont think i tried that at the time.
This unit is so full of bugs, i have resigned myself to returning it overseas. A total pain at Xmas.
Man this is getting frustrating! My music player won't play any music from my microSDHC card now. It finds all of my songs, but I can only listen to about 10seconds before it locks up. I see the little circle-thingie in the left corner spinning and as soon as it stops the music player crashes.
same as above
I have the exact same problem as Toss3 above, couldn't describe it better.
It was working fine though, until i added some new folders. It always happens quite early in the song, so i tend to think that it's scanning the library in the background (the circle 'busy' animation) and it's encountering a corrupt file and is crashing (or at least a file the player considers as corrupt, because all those files work fine on my computer or iPod Classic).
So i'm really bothered, any help from you Toss3, if you find the solution, or from anybody else would be very appreciated.
Hey guys
I just registered because I experienced some problems with my recently bought nexus 6p. I really like this phone but as soon as I start listening to music using headphones the bugs are invading my phone since I didn't find anything on Google I start this thread.
But let's get to my problem:
I plug in my headphones and start playing music (using blackplayer and Google music). When the screen is turned on the volume turns down itself (I can see the volume bar going down to zero like I'm pressing the button). Also sometimes the powerbutton stops working and I have to restart my phone long pressing the power button.
But also when the screen is turned out I experience some problems. One of the most annoying ones is that music stops and starts randomly (but only when headphones are plugged in!!!). The other bug is music stopping, display turns on and some female voice tells me "Bitte warten! (please wait)" and the screen is gray saying "initializing".
Has someone experienced similar problems? What could help? If you guys need any more information just tell me
I have none of these problems. Have you tried a different set of headphones?
Change your headphones or ensure that they're set up properly. I'm guessing they're wired.
I'm also running into this same issue. I have the latest updates on my phone. This happens about 25 minutes in to listening to media. I've heard that disabling "OK Google detection" fixes it. This hasn't worked for me.
Sounds like wired headphones with a faulty connection to the phones, or faulty buttons on the headphones. I have seen similar behavior with just a wired connection to an AUX Input. The connection on the wire was faulty and due to changing resistance, it looked to the phone like headphone buttons were being pressed. Could also be a fault at the headphone jack on the phone, but it was not in my case. Definitely try other headphones to help narrow down the issue.
