I'm not responsible for what might happen on your phone if you choose to dial any of these!
These are the codes that work on the standard phone dialler app on the Orange San Francisco, but I'm pretty sure they'll be almost identical on other models that we collectively know as "ZTE Blade". Known small differences (in texts) are down to whether the firmware expects to be running on an OLED or TFT display, and whether you've deleted seemingly unused apps like ChiperTest.apk, fcctest.apk and QcNvTest.apk. Most are prefixed with "*983*", which is "*ZTE*" in phone letters -- I've added a mnemonic for the other part where I think it's obvious (feel free to suggest better ones!).
"Automatic Inspection" runs through the basic tests automatically (usually you need press a button to move on to the next bit -- don't get thrown by any blank colour test screens!). There are a number of interesting items for developers, with hardware info and other goodies. If any of the descriptions don't make the function obvious then it's either poorly written or I don't know exactly what it does (I'll happily update this if others can explain better).
If the code has been recognised by the dialler then it will react immediately when you enter the final "#". If nothing happens when you've done that, don't press Dial!
Edit: on the ROMs based on the Japanese 2.2 you need to put the phone into "Engineering Mode" first, by dialling *ZTE*OPENEM# (*983*673636#) -- this action will be confirmed by a quick pop-up. To close this mode, dial *ZTE*CLOSEEM# (*983*2567336#) -- this then prompts whether you want to do a Factory Reset, which you do not have to do (you can simply Back away from this screen).

Check the build number in Settings>About Phone. AMOLED ends in 05, LCD ends in 08. IIRC all white SF models are 08 and most grey are 05 (unless its a newer unit which will likely be 08).

I think unlocking the Boost Mobile is a lost cause. I've tried several other sims and the only codes I've found to show the unlock menu don't work:
1) Alright then please remove the SIM card and try this code ###825*09#,
2) Got the prompt for code? Please enter the code you received,
3) Failed above, try *983*8284# to access the Unlock Menu,
4) Failed above, finally try *983*865625# to access the Unlock Menu.

To close this mode, dial *ZTE*CLOSEEM# (*983*2567336#) -- this then prompts whether you want to do a Factory Reset, which you do not have to do (you can simply Back away from this screen).

No, it doesn't
First, download & install WP 7.1 SDK from here (Application Deployment is part of this SDK).
Next, unlock your phone (it's not sim-unlocking, it's like jailbreaking). "How to" in this thread
Then, you should install the app to your phone and only if you do this, you'll can select 'System Tweaks' in Diagnosis app.

Thanks. I don't completely follow this. I will continue trying. All threads seem to have instructions pre-Mango update and my phone is already running Mango.

I found something called ChevronWP7 - can I use this to jailbreak/unlock Samsung Focus (v 1.3) Mango phone? My OS version etc. are as follows:

One more question (for everyone): Samsung Focus v 1.3 ear-peice volume is very low. It's set to 10/10 but it's still low. I know that from Diagnostic app we can increase it but I am not sure what values to set.
Here are my current values, what should I change to increase volume of phone earpeice/speaker? (not using any bluetooth or corded handset)?

Whoa! Isn't 16,000 too high? I mean, did you mean 1600? Right now, it's 1500. 16,000 is like 10x! Not that I understand what these values are and how they work but I just want to be sure it's not a typo before I change it on my phone. Don't want to accidentally brick it as I did an iPhone last year

Yes, you would, but only when the carrier (the one that the phone is registered to) releases the update. In many cases, that's too late but you can manually update, read this thread.

The wifi password lost after every restart, then you have to root your device to replace new build.prop for the existing one --> everything is ok!

Thanks for the post. It saved a lot of time of mine. But I think there is a minor flaw in the instruction. In No.3 the does not get rooted as you described, you have to install SuperSU binary to get root access. Otherwise, everything is good.
I'm still facing one problem though. When I insert a new SIM or restart my device I can not make calls or receive SMS untill I make random switchings in Settings> More networks> Mobile networks> Network mode.
And I can't turn off Haptic Feedback. Any possible solution???

I'm leaving the country on Sunday and I need to be able to use my phone with an international SIM. What is the quickest way to international unlock it by then? I see a lot of conflicting information like I can't downgrade from NG2 or something like that. Any help?

To undo any and all of the changes that you are about to make to your phone(**NOTE** the following will erase all data on your phone so backup everything you want to keep.), (1) first download an app called MSL utility and write down your MSL code on a computer, or any other device maybe even pen and paper.(2) go to your phone settings hit activate this device when it is done loading do not click done.(3) click on the menu button and go to PST settings. (4) go to the ##SCRTN# menu and follow what it prompts you to do, your phone will then reboot automatically. (5) do steps 2 and 3 over again and go to the ##RTN# menu and follow the prompts your phone should than reboot automatically and now you should see an invalid SIM sign. **NOTE** any time it asks you to enter a code it means enter you MSL code. I had NAE i downgrade to mdc then unlocked it and after that i download firmware which is NG2-xas i think and after upgrading its still unlock.
For that method and files you can search international sim unlock.
Its easy to do it.

Couple of things, I actually called Sprint to ask them to unlock it for international SIMs, and they said they'd go ahead and do it. I flashed back to Stock and did the UICC Unlock thing in the menu like they told me. The phone rebooted. I think it's unlocked then, correct? If not, I'll go ahead and do this method tonight.
Also, does this phone support LTE (Is that the right term) on international GSM networks or just 3g?

it may be unlocked; you would not know for certain unless, you attempt to insert an international sim card.
Depending on which country you are traveling to. Some countries only have 2-G, then there is some that use 3-G, some also utilize HAPA+, and LTE. It also depends on the sim card they give to you. If the give an LTE sim card, it may work (for LTE or HSPA+). Though it depends on which band/frequency, its relying on. click here to see LTE frequency data sheet. click here to select the country you are traveling to, this way you'll know if you will be able to be on a favorable network.

I don't know if that's true. What i do know is that the last time i was in Israel, i used Golan Telecom, and i only had a 3G connection. i do know that they state they have a 4G-Lte network, but i guess i'll have to find out in a few months from now.

Q. What if my IMEI is bad or blacklisted?
A. There are a few times of blacklist... T-Mobile seems to block INTERNAL only if non payment. Others will block if non payment or lost/stolen.
This does not effect SIM unlock, I can do it regardless.... However, you WILL NOT GET NETWORK SIGNAL IF BLOCKED

If you are not sure ask first!
Q. Can you change/repair my IMEI?

Phone Settings ALL Models
Disable FRP by enabling OEM UNLOCK

Enable USB debugging

Revoke USB authorization (if applicable)
Developer Settings > Revoke USB authorization
GSM Only
Phone dialer > *#0808# > USB = AP
Phone dialer > *#0808# > USB SETTINGS = DM + ACM/MODMEM + ADB (note, will say ACM or MODEM)
If and only IF the above doesn’t work then try:
Developer Settings > USB Configuration > RNDIS (USB Ethernet)
SPRINT Only
Phone dialer > ##3424# >Qualcomm USB settings > DM + ADB + Modem
If the above asks for MSL or doesn’t work then try:
Developer Settings > USB Configuration > RNDIS (USB Ethernet) then we can get MSL to enable the above if you need MSL
For those that don't know... the 5th to last digit in the firmware is the BOOTLOADER (BL) version. YOU CAN'T GO BACK!!
i.e G920TUVU5EQC2 the BL version is 5 so you can't flash anything less than BL version 5
PC
You will need a Windows PC for the software. Please ensure you have Windows 7 or newer
Windows Vista and XP are NOT RECOMMENDED (for anything lol).
Please download FlexiHub http://www.eltima.com/wiki/user-guides/flexihub-windows/installation.html and install on your PC.
Please reboot after install.
Please create a FREE flexihub account here https://flexihub.eltima.com/user/registration/ AFTER ENTER DETAILS, YOU WILL SEE A PAYMENT PAGE... CLOSE WINDOW NOW. FREE ACCOUNT ALREADY CREATED
Or I have a few accounts if you wish to use one just let me know.
Please have FlexiHub open and logged in.
Unlocking Process
When you have contacted me and I have replied that we are ready you may proceed to:
Open flexihub and log in to your account
DO NOT SEND COM PORT. THIS IS USELESS TO ME ALONE
If needed click 'UNLOCK' on the phone's driver so it can be accessed (i.e Samsung_Android OR Gadget_Serial OR MSMxxxx)
Right click on your phone's driver in flexihub(i.e Samsung_Android OR Gadget_Serial OR MSMxxxx) and click send invite.
Type in [email protected] and click OK.
I will connect to the device and proceed from there.
Please watch phone for USB Authorization prompt.
Check the box then press OK.
I will disconnect and reconnect as required (using FlexiHub).
Watch phone Screen for SU (ROOT) prompt and press GRANT.
All you need to do is watch the phone for USB Authorization and ROOT grant.
Please follow the instructions I send via Google Hangouts
After we are finished you can return your device settings to as they were and you can remove FlexiHub from PC.
