[Q] Gapps error on CM10.2

EDIT
SOLVED
Gotta loved when you reply to your own posts. Solved this by as a last resort install the 20130301 version of gapps. So it looks like there is a bug in the latest version
Hi,
I installed CM10.2 nightly (the 2nd boot nightly of July 3rd and normal 17 Sept). CM10.2 installs fine. However, when I install gapps, sync errors out, com.google.process.gaps stops working and I cannot run the Play store (no connection) and messages that G+ has crashed
Tried all the tricks: enable download, clear data for all google apps, wiped, reinstalled, removed Google account and added it again. Nothing works. Some Google apps work OK (Gmail, browser) but G+ and store don't work, and I get a sync error with the calendar.
I'm out of ideas. Back to CM7

Try to install Gapps for CDM ("GAPPS para ROM CDM" - In portuguese)...
It won't have any problems with the CM...
:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
that's probably because you ran out of space on /system partition and gapps weren't fully extracted. for cm10.2 delete videos & some ringtones you don't need under system/media/ and some apps you don't use in system/app. you might delete them straight in flashable zips as well then flash minimal gapps again & wipe cache. defy's /system partition is only 325Mb big while unedited CM10.2 build itself fills ~290Mb of it. add the size of gapps to it and there we are

Thanks for the feedback!
Next update will be introducing a new installation system that can help with different /system partition size.
It should be done within 3 days!
New build is up! Please give me feed back on this so I can improve it more!
When Play Services 6.5 is pushed (with trusted locations) will we get the update automatically or do we need to rely on you to make a new Gapps package? Thanks for your work! Trying it now.
Normally, the Google Play Services should able to update itself. But I'll also update the build when it's out, to reduce /data usage.
Can you remove the Android Version check or make a version for 5.0.1? Thanks!
Sorry for the delay, but here it is! All updated to latest version and provided Slim version for devices having smaller /system partition!

[GUIDE] To get OTA updates for CM12 Nightlys

Since nightly builds happen daily, it is difficult to download 250MB+ data daily and flash it manually. And also updater won't show any updates most of the time. The solution is to use CyanDelta.
Install this app from playstore. Then follow the given instructions. Updates will be around 15MB only. Check for updates daily.
About the App:
http://www.cyandelta.com/
Download from here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ult#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5jeWFuZGVsdGEiXQ.
Steps to be followed:
1. Download CM12 nightly (skip if already downloaded). Keep it in internal storage.
2. Download "Cyandelta" app from playstore using link given above.
3. Now open the Cyandelta app and load the zip (you will see this option when you enter inside the app)
4. Now when it prompts for delete gives "yes"(its has already taken a note of the contents of the zip so no need to worry)
5. Now it will show an update if your connected to your internet. Give app permission to flash it. It will take care of flashing and wiping the cache.
6. Do it whenever you want update to the latest nightly.
Here is the Video for the tutorial to get updates: (Thanks to Deep Singhal)

Like the post if it helped.
Enjoy the Lollipop and CM12!!!

Best ROM for klte

I have a question about the features and stability of ROMs for the SM-G900F (klte). I am using CM13 right now. I am very satisfied with this ROM, but after a bit of research about (for example) Resurrection Remix I am not sure if CM provides the best set of features.
So my question is:
Are there any advantages of RR that I can not achieve with Xposed Modules such as GravityBox etc. ?
Or are there any other AOSP based ROMs with CM theming engine support that you can recommend?
(before someone may tell me I should use Google: I did, but I did not find a good summary about this)
Why don't you use DualBoot Patcher and try it out yourself! it's easy, just install the app, grant SU perms, click on the menu button next to the primary rom, update ramdisk and follow instructions, patch the ROM zip (from the app too) to secondary (most likely you would still have enough space left on /system, check Free Space section on the app) or any data-partition ID, install it using TWRP/CWM or DIRECTLY from the app too with no reboot! Patch Gapps (and ANY flashable zip you want to install to that ROM) too (to whatever partition type you chosen for its system) if you want to - optional -, go back to ROMs section, select the new ROM, reboot, test it, install the DualBoot Patcher app there too. Now you just have to select the ROM icon you want to switch to, reboot and it's done

Thanks for the hint.
Stick with RR MM
I've just begun my developer journey recently and I've been using a Note II up until yesterday..now I use my newer S5 klte and I must admit..there are a few extra ROMs with this and that..I've come across a few mm roms and the "N" roms... But all in all I am almost committed to Resurrection Remix builds as they are stable..I haven't had a FC yet and I've been using RR MM builds as my daily driver on ALL my Galaxy phones for about three months now...I don't use anything but Pico Gapps for Bloatware reasons but RR has NOT ONCE let me down.
But I would like to help by saying Tesla Roms on G+ is good...TeamOctOs has just come out with R3 ROM..which has the Nexus Launcher..not bad..BlissRoms...there are more but I am just a beginner and I would rather explore Stable Builds. I hope I provided some useful info for you. Good Flashing!!

Lineage 15.1 Android Auto not working

I have installed Lineage 15.1 on my OnePlus 2 (20181016 nightly) and everything works apart from Android Auto. Every time I try to launch it I get the following error message.
"Something Went Wrong - Google Play Services doesn't seem to be working right now"
I installed Open Gapps (full) at the same time (no reboot between installs).
I have tried full wipes and resets.
Please can anyone suggest a solution? Can I try a more recent version of Google Play Services from APK mirror and if so do I need to uninstall the current version first?
I don't know if this is related, but my OPT with LineageOS 15.1/same nightly doesn't work with Android Auto unless I enable developer options and enable ADB debugging. Sometimes a nightly will reset that back to disabled, though usually it's sticky and doesn't change across nightlies. The last time it happened was about a month ago.
Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried that both in the car and just running the app from the phone and no joy.
When I first installed 15.1, I used MindTheGapps-8.1.0-arm64-20180320_011441. I had been having some camera issues with OpenGapps, and used MindTheGaps with some self installed camera software instead. Worth a shot perhaps. Also for reference my Android Auto (using autoupdate) is version 3.7.584044-release according to app info.
I have now resolved this issue by joining the Google Play services beta.
After the new version installed, I rebooted and Android Auto started working. Must be something about the version that came with the version of Lineage I installed.

Unbelievable! After searching the entire internet for a solution, this is the only thing that worked . Thanks!
Another Solution worked for me:
I had the same prolem on my Costum OS Lineage.
Then i uninstalled the GAPPS and installed the first GAPPS Version for my Android Version 8.1: (Release: 01 March 2018)
When I opened the app after that, i geted the message that the google play services is not up-to-date and i updated it through the play store.
I dont know why, but it is working now. for me.

Download your 8.1 package from 01 March 2018 and copy it on your phone..
(Go to the page where you can download it, scroll down, click on "OLDER RELEASES" and replace from the url "releases/" with "releases/tag/20180301")
I am not able to post outside links, because i registered especially for posting this solution...
Reboot your Phone into the Recovery mode.
Then "Wipe > Advanced Wipe > System"
After this go to "Advanced > File Manager" and delete all files that starts with "/data/app/com.google..."
Now you must install your Costum ROM again and install GAPPS which you copied on your phone. (User apps and data are retained)
:good:

Thank you for guidance.
I've tried to avoid system re-install and only deal with google apps.
Version of google play installed by 12/7 opengapps was 14.7.99 110400
First attempt: removed /data/app/com.google* via "adb shell" and flashed "pico" opengapps from 3/1/2018. (original gapps were mini)
After launching "auto" it requested "google play" update but app still failed with same error (after update).
After update I got google play version 14.7.99 090408 which looks lower than installed by 12/7 gapps.
2nd attempt: downloaded "stock" opengapps from 11/28 and create gapps-config.txt to exclude unwanted google application from "stock" but kept android auto from gapps package.
Again removed "/data/app/com.google..." and flashed gapps.
It asked to upgrade "google play" (because of gmail) and after upgrade Android auto worked !
