hello
I have a note 3 am-n900 exynos version. after updating stock lollipop, without apps running on it uses over 2 gigs of RAM.
what can i do, it's still on warranty and dont want to root because of Knox.
any suggestions?
p.s. from lock screen modes "none" option is missing
any solution?
Memory leak / ram overload is a common issue with L5.0... 5.1 is suppose to help fix most of those issues... you can only wait, reboot, or root and install greenify and titanium backup. ***but I think maybe you can install greenify also now works with non root phones (just not all features).

First, let it settle in. I don't know why but smartphones seem to need time and a few reboots to get everything set. So give it a bit of time, reboot a couple of times across a few hours and then see how it goes.
If still a problem call Samsung in your country for assistance - might as well make them work for the warranty. But be careful about telling them HOW you upgraded unless you used OTA or Kies...
thanks for answer.
what about lock screen issue, do you experiencing the same?
I installed OTA by Odin 1 month ago, so it is settled. memory leak is the big problem with Lollipop
there is no way to reduce this huge usage without root.
there is a one strange thing "none" option is missing from lock screen menu

I'm not sure if LP ROMs have a None option - in the middle of installing ROMs right now so I can't check mine but I think my top option is 'Swipe' not None

I do remember that I had "none" option and was using it

Hey all, I searched but didn't come up with anything. I have an S4 Active and it is still on the AT&T bloatware. But its rooted and I used Titanium Backup to freeze a bunch of the AT&T bloat and Samsung stuff that I never use. I didn't freeze any google or com stuff, so I think it is unlikely I froze whatever controls it.
I only had the phone for a day before I did this, so it could be I never noticed it before and its done it since new.
But now, 5 days into owning the phone I notice that automatic brightness always sets the screen to the lowest brightness level, regardless of ambient light. I only noticed because I spent a lot of time in the sun Friday and Saturday and noticed I had issues seeing the screen until I turned off automatic brightness.
Is this a known bug with these? Is is possible I froze something that controls this?
OK, using the *#0*# dial screen shortcut I was able to verify that the light sensor is working as it should. I have tried rebooting, and factory reset isn't an option for me.
I've seen kernel functions mess up after rooting sometimes. Try flashing another kernel, maybe a custom kernel compatible for your phone.

Thanks for the feedback.
Not sure there is a custom kernel for this phone yet, as I'm not sure that the regular S4 kernels will work for it. But I'll look into it.

Try going back to stock unrooted firmware and see if the issue still persists. I think it might be tied to root coz some other features like allshare also break with root, and root works at the kernel level. You could check on the thread from where you got the rooting method, maybe others are having the same issue.
Hey guys
As most of you probably know, as soon as you select for instance a pin for your lock screen the S4 disables the possibility for lock screen widgets. I'm currently getting around it with xposed and SamsungMultipleWidgets KitKat.
Just curious if there's any way around this limitation without xposed, or maybe even without root? I'm guessing that it's not possible, still.. I'm curious.

Some ROMs have this feature baked in. SlimKat for instance. I dont believe there is a way whilst using a stock rom without using xposed, at least i never found one, and I looked hard!

Yeah, I know.. I had it built in while running CM. Just had an urge to go back to stock for a while and was just wondering what features I wanted actually required root (and xposed).
If anyone else knows of a way, please let us know.
Hi gys, slightly different issue here, but would appreciate any help.
basically the PIN lock does not activate until 30 seconds or so after the phone boots up. So there is no securuty on initial boot up.
Its there if I do a reboot. But not there if I do a startup from fully off.
It used to work but at some point a few ROMs ago t stopped working.
I was told it was the kernel but I have tried 4 and all with the same result and have tried several roms.,
Hello,
I have an S4, rooted, etc. Recently it's started taking up to 5 or so seconds to turn the screen on after I push a button while it's asleep.
It's a pain in the ass because I use it as a watch among other things.
I have installed some new apps recently, none that I can recall that could affect this specifically, any tips on how to find out what could be causing this issue?
Cheers.
EDIT: I have checked other similar threads and didn't come across anything that helped.
EDIT: Yes I have S Voice set to not use the home key to activate.
Anyone? :crying:

Sounds like its kernel related but guessing your still on stock kernel etc? I'd install twrp and backup your rom, then wipe and start anew to see if the problem persists. Otherwise even though it may be unlikely to be caused by those apps try uninstalling them to see if the problem is still there. Could just be how bloated TW is, I wouldnt know cause I removed all bloatware the day i brought my s4 when it was released haha.
Hello everyone,
When I try to answer a call the ringtone volume will spike for a very short of time. The spike will make the volume peak at it highest. Anyone has this problem?
very annoying
Anyone
I've bought the note 4 just 5 days ago and I've just recently noticed this particular sound issue too. I'm wondering if it's just a software bug... It's so weird that just you and me are having this issue that I'm really thinking that it could be a hardware issue...
My friend also has the same problem. He use N910c as well

Do you still have this problem? Do you think that it's software related or hardware related? Does flashing a newer rom stones this issue?

I would love to have answer as well, but i'm in the same boat. However, I tried to set the same ringtone as an alarm with max volume and when i try to stop/snooze it doesn't do that. I even tried the MOD that is on the app section which change the volume on the note 4. It did increase my speaker volume but i didn't do anything in fixing the issue. I also tried to install an app called "Disable Increasing Ring" which remove the low volume on the first ring but it didn't help either.
I tried to post this on another forum looking for help and one guy said "Check the setting that maximizes the volume on ringing." I don't know what does that mean.

I tried the "Disable Increasing Ring" app too, because I initially tought that it was a bug of the increasing ringtone feature that is present since Android v.4.3... But it didn't work. I've also flashed another rom and the issue persisted.
I don't know... What drives me crazy is that some people have this problem but the majority just don't! Of it is a firmware problem, it should happen with everyone that has the same rom...
I'm also worried because this spike in the ringtone volume may damage the loudspeaker through time...
To be honest, I'm just about to return my phone!!!
Same here. 910c version.

I've tried 02 official stock roms: ZTO (Brazil - International Unlocked) and ZTA (Brazil - Claro Branded).
I did the Factory Reset and wiped the Cache Patition using the Stock Recovery, and then flashed these roms using Odin 3.09
Then I started the phone, didn't logged in my google account nor in my samsung account, and so I did'd download nor intalled any app. I didn't make any changes on the phone's configuration menu.
Then, with the phone like this, I've called myself using my girlfriend's phone and, unfortunately, when I swiped to answer the call the damn sound bug was still present!!!
Since I know many other users that run these roms and don't have this problem, I'm assuming that it's a hardware issue particular to my note 4 unit.
So I have no other choice: I'll return my phone as soon as possible!

Why not??? The point is that people running the same Samsung rom that I have simply don't have this problem. The fact is that every note 4 unit should be able to run a stock rom and not present this particular bug. I mean, it must be a hardware issue because my method excluded all the particular changes in the sistem that could be caused by apps or some configuration options... So, after excluding all those factors, if two identical models are running the same identical roms, the only reason that one unit has a bug and the other don't is that they aren't really identical, i.e. because one of them has a hardware problem/difference.
The other point is that if I want to use my warranty rights, I must not have root access nor use a custom rom, because I don't wat to trigger my flash counter or my knox counter...
So it makes absolutely no sense that I must loose my warranty and use a coustom rom to get rid of a problem that doesn't even exists in the vast majority of note 4 units that are able to run the stock rom without presenting this issue.

Thanks
Well, it bother me, but I believe Samsung will fix it. Let wait for lollipop update.

Same issue on a SM-N910C in Bulgaria. Phone taken from operator Telenor. I hope that there is a solution.

Since DOK2 is new and there are several hopes from many of the new firmware, I figured it would be best to make a thread about it.
To those on DOK2 (Especially 100% stock, i.e. stock kernels), please post your feedback.
One of the main things to look for is directed at FingerPrint unlock users.
After enabling FingerPrint unlock does the phone randomly lock itself?
Does the FingerPrint crash / TouchWiz crashes?
(This should be apparent with in the first 24 hours of enabling the FingerPrint lock)
The next main thing to look for is just general issues after the phone being on for some time. This would indicate memory management issues and would show up after hours / days with out a restart.
Are you loving the new Firmware? Post about that too!
Your feedback is valuable so please take the time out to post your experiences with DOK2.
Thanks!
I'm loving the new firmware. The phone "feels" faster in switching between applications.
The fingerprint lock-screen bug is gone (for me). Memory management has improved drastically. The only thing that is the same is the battery life in power saving mode. The update is worth it for me, so I'm not as eager as I was before to get marshmallow as I was before.
Note: This phone has never been rooted
I got the update and noticed a few bugs here and there. I fully wiped twice and it resolved everything. It's smoother, faster, same battery life, keyboard and fingerprint bugs fixed. I really like it so far. It runs like it should. I'm a happy camper now.
I've never rooted, full stock.
Remember to go to options > storage and clear your cache after updating! From COG2 to DOK2 I have never had fingerprint unlock issues. If anything it seems more accurate and faster. There is more ram I fall between 1.7-1.8gb (instead of ~2gb) used when everything is cleared. There has been no random reboots since the update. There is no more weather widget re-sizing itself and black shadowed font while scrolling through home screens. My antutu score went from 52000 to 48000 though. I am 100% stock never been rooted.
I've heard tell that you can't downgrade your bootloader back to COG2 after installing DOK2 update. Any word on this? Even through Odin?
^Even if you can't, why would you want to? 5.1.1 is better in every way from 5.0.1

sub? I assume you mean usb.. Did you wipe/reset everything? Even though this is an official update dirty flashing is dirty flashing. Wiping is still a troubleshooting step.
Love it so far.
The one thing that I have noticed is that the task switching is much faster. When I used to press the button, it would take a few seconds to load, now it's pretty much instantaneous.
I tried turning on the fingerprint unlock, but I was still having too many swipes to get it to unlock, so I turned it back off.

When you register you finger do you swipe at different angles each pass?
That is a must. My fingerprint scanner (when not crashing) works flawlessly. I never have had a problem with swipes.

Data speeds are much improved with the update. The device is snappier also. I haven't noticed a difference in GPS - seems about the same as before the update. Haven't had time to gauge battery life fully but that also seems improved.
Over all a very well put together update. I'm pleased.
I haven't rooted yet and I'm not sure I want to take this update yet. How can I turn off the auto update feature? The phone is telling me it wants to download the update and the next time I connect to wifi it will. Is there any way to prevent this?

WARNING if you update your tmobile note 4 from 4.4.4 or 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 lollipop then dont do it. problems are the phone download super slow even if your on the best internet connection or using your own data. and if you like 4.4.4 or 5.0.1 then you will not be able to downgrade back to them. its no way to downgrade at all. im trying to sale mine on craigslist and get another one now
So weird, I installed it yesterday, rooted, and loaded a ported version of Kyubi's ROM. It's an awesome ROM, but too laggy on n910t. Reinstalled DOK2, and I canNOT root it again via Odin 10.7 or 10.3. It loads, and then goes into a boot loop. I've tried like, 5 times. Kinda sucks
