on xda you're not allowed to make a thread on which roms the best or which kernel is the best but i would say stay on stock kernel and use a custom firmware thats not too bloated. flash a kernel if you need to change android se to be permissive or you need the extra battery train most roms come with their own kernel anyway

Hi! I just sold my LG G2 and bought myself this phone! So i got just a few fast questions for you guys
Is there any AOSP roms like cm/pa/carbon thats stable for our phone?
Is the phone rooted/recovery able?
is there any stock roms worth mentioning? Thinking about battery + stability and ofcourse performance.
I heard OMEGA was a good rom, but it's been a while since i had a samsung device, so any info you have would be great! And if i should look into other roms aswell that you think is intresting(not best).
Hoping for some real good answers! Thank You.

I hope you're informed that whatever you do, you will trip KNOX. KNOX is your warranty, and is irreversible.
Once you passed that dilemma, you should try temasek's CM11 for AOSP. Very good for battery life.
It is recovery-able, provided you know that you will be tripping KNOX.
Stock ROMs? Use the latest 4.4.2 KitKat pre-rooted. Stock meaning on Samsung firmware but is a custom ROM, give X-Note a try, if you're ready for updates every few weeks. Also try Omega or Echoe. But the majority of the community is currently lingering around X-Note as it is the most bloated in awesome tweaks, gets all the updates, all features you'd expect and much more.
Everything I said are for the N9005, so if you have the Exynos version, these ROMs won't work, you will need to use Exynos ROMs such as Criskelo or TR-ROM.
exynos user here,
Dr. ketan's rom offers many options to customize your note, but it's not for casual user like me.
Criskelo's rom offers more moderate and user friendly customization with nifty interface.
TR-Rom offers easy installation, a little change from stock interface, and great performance. my choice for now.
Hi, I wanted to try a costum ROM on my note 3 because the official note 3 ROM has a lot of unwanted apps that just fills up my memory.
Looking on the threads, I see a lot of custom ROMs available that doesn't make it easy to start. So my question is which costum ROM do you prefer and why will you recommend me to get that one? Thank you in advanced!!
Just in case, my model is the one on the screen shot
Why don't you start with one where you understand the instructions .

I'd say go for Temasek's CM12.1 AOSP ROM. It's MUCH smaller than any stock Rom, & support is pretty good and it FLIES. I've now posted 2 Antutu scores over 49,000 - and I know benchmark scores are not real life performance but I never got over a 44,000 in any stock ROM.
If you want to stay based in stock, a very good custom ROM is Alliance ROM - think it's at v8.1 now.
HOWEVR, and this applies no mater what ROM you look at... READ, READ, READ... Learn what rooting is, learn about Recovery and why Odin on the PC is necessary. The more you understand about what you are trying to do the less likely you are to be posting back in the Q&A with... "Help! My phone is bricked!"
As you can see I have a exynos Chip so I need a ROM compatible to that.
I had done flashing in the passed when I have my Samsung Galaxy Duos so I have read a bit. But there are soooooooo much ROMs now that I dared to ask the question
Sent from my SM-N900 using XDA Free mobile app
Your choice of roms for N900 is limited to these .

Hi
This is NOT a hurry up devs thread of any kind or anything like that. I can't develop myself and I really appreciate all the hard work the devs on this forum are doing.
I'm just curious why the rom development is so active, while the kernel development is completely dead (at the time being). I also had the S6 and I found it different there.. The kernel devs was pretty damn active.
Is it normal that the rom development start right away and kernels after a few months? Also, is it because there is no need for it anymore cause of system-less root? I think I read somewhere that you needed a custom kernel before that, but now you can root and run custom roms on stock kernel.
I just love custom kernels, as those can really speed up the phone and improve battery life
hey guys suggest me a stable cm13 rom with great battery life
ROMs are a very subjective matter.
What works great for one may be bad for you.
Also, pretty much every Android 6 ROM has Bluetooth problems.
If you're looking for lots of features and customizations, Resurrection Remix and Cyanide are the way to go.
For performance, Optimized CM13.
Battery-wise they are all decent.
Hello can someone tell me a i9505 custom rom for gaming ???

At the moment i am having a bit of success with Omega Roms (i have v19 based on 4.3 jellyB). Pair it with a kernel that lets you customize most things in CPU and GPU (like kernel KT-SGS4-JB4.3-TW) and you are good to go :fingers-crossed:
You can choose from different versions of roms and kernels based on virtually any stock rom. Good luck!

I suggest JDCTeam's AOSP ROM.
Thank you verry much ill try both roms but the one with the omega rom do o have to flash on my own the custom kernel ?
yes, the kernel is sepparate. There is already a nice kernel in Omega, but the KT one is better as it gives you acces to more tweaks

As the title says, I cant find any kernel for my GT i9505 using Lineage 6.0.1... Im having problems with battery, and since the kernel is resposible for that, i need help...
I tried to undervolt, all I get is bad performance with not improved battery life...
Can anybody speak to me and explain what to do...? ( since i changed more than 10Roms, modems etc etc etc... )
Only JDCTeam ROMs have a custom kernel packed into the zip. That's the ONLY one for Marshmallow and Nougat.

Then what are other options for battery life.. I have seen people getting like 4-5h SOT, a lot of apps, yet no xposed (which i tried aswell) ? Can you give me an advice?
Almost all Roms for s4 I used, are really good and congrats to devs, but i just need some good battery life, which i can't get right now.. (i bought a new battery just to mention, its not bat)
