Are you sure you have original D802? Because many refurbished D802 are in fact either D800 or D801.
You may need to open it and see main board.

Help w/possible bricked G2!

Folks,
I gave my rooted (mahdi rom) ATT G2 to my teenage son seeing I was no longer using it. He said he tried to update the Mahdi ROM and now it is bricked. From my questioning him all I know is when he was installing the mahdi update, but he did not flash the D800 patch. Noticing there was a problem I think he tried to re-flash recovery or something. All he would get is "fastboot mode".
I think I am a pretty smart guy and have been on XDA for years flashing and what not with no issues - but this one has me stumped. These are the steps I have taken:
1) Finally got it into download mode and when I try to flash the tot file for ATT, it says incorrect model. Says the model is the D801 (t-mobile)! I was like what?
2) So I tried to flash the D801 tot and it seemed to work, but the flash would ultimately "Fail" in the LG Flash Tool. It would boot up into the t-mobile rom but I would get errors and reboots - very unstable. AND the IMEI was wiped!
Does anyone have any ideas what I can try next? I would like to somehow change the model back to the D800 and flash the ATT tot file. Maybe it is truly just bricked!?!?
Any help would appreciated! Thanks!

if you can successfully root device with towelroot(best choice since it is not device specific) then your best bet is to copy d800 build.prop(or to play it safe edit the build.prop model number from LG-D801 to LG-D800) into system/ give it rw-r--r-- pemissions and reboot into download mode, it should say you have d800 and you should be able to flash back to d800 tot(might want to be using d800 dll that ignores model check too just in case)

Scared to flash anymore

So I have a LG G2 D800...well that's what the IMEI sticker says... the phone software detects a d802 international version anyway after rooting it all fine and dandy I go to install a custom recovery I tried twrp and cwm both give out a boot certification verify error, my first thought was that it was bricked but I unplugged it and it rebooted fine. So I have no idea whats going on here and why I can't install a custom recovery.
I just did get this phone back from lg over a bad flash, the flash went so bad that the lg techs said the board was bad and replaced the motherboard.
So any help or ideas why I can't flash twro or cwm to it?

if it is now on kitkat then you need to use autorec; a little concerned about it being d800 showing d802 after being sent back by lg

I'm not sure if it just says that because it's been rooted, but I had to send it into lg because it was either Odin or lg flash recovery that said the dll file was wrong and I couldn't find any way to fix it so I tried recovering it in fastmode and the bootloader some how got screwed.
If I use AutoRec and don't have a custom recovery how easily can it become bricked?
Actually it says whats exactly in your sig, LG G2 D800 on D80020U
And like I mentioned my phone is already rooted so could I just run this root to overwrite it or just go back to stock?

well first if it is d800 it should always say d800 whether it has been rooted or modified(I own a d800 and do lot's of modding always making sure it will say d800 as model number)
yes autorec can brick a device but only if you are using the version which is not for your device and to fix involves a lot of work
to return to complete stock you have use the lg flash tool and tot method

ok then, you should be good to go for using autorec for d800 but after using it you will not be able to use knock on/knock code because it does not have updated kernel for d800 which incorporates knock on/code and I suggest you make a backup and then flash a custom kernel with knock code support for d800 to fix the issue(it happened to me so I should know)

If I do brick it would I still be able to enter download mode and reflash back to stock?
I was planning on flashing Cm11 to it anyway so knock code isn't that important to me, but I do remember being able to flash it then installing Cloudyd3 and knock code would work fine.

Autorec only has a chance of bricking when used for the wrong device, and because it flash a laf.img this means kfbyour device gets bricked by it you lose download mode and have to restore it using adb and fastboot commands
Cloudyg3 includes kernel modification for knock code for d80020u, while on 20k/c this was not an issue

Thanks, so I should go back to stock, reflash using lg flash tool then then reflash using the method above and then install AutoRec so I can use Twrp and install cm11.

How do I Unroot LG G2

I have a d801 g2. When i flashed twrp i used d803 autorec because that is the only way to flash it on this model. So i installed cloudy g3 rom. Now i want to unroot back to stock lg d801. G2. First thing i did was i went into download mode and used lg mobile support tool to install stock rom. The phone recogized it as a d801. But when it went to the install it stopped at 49% and canceled the install. So how would i root it back to the d801 model. Im afraid if i install a d801 rom, it might brick my phone. Can someone help me?

A D801 with D802 stock rom installed, would like to restore to the Stock D801, Help.

brought a faked d802 from internet, as this is actually D801 (opened back cover and checked the motherboard to confirmed), it has been installed the D802 stock rom.
Below is problems may related this incompatible rom installed.
It can't do hard rest, stuck at "fastboot"
It can't install custom recovery using "TWRP installer", been told successful, but can't reboot to recovery.
Download mode shows, but seems not working, as I tried to restore D801 following this instruction, but can't communicate with this phone.
Can't update software from phone settings, met phone not register error
Seems IMEI isn't recognized by LG as well. But I can use it to callin and out.
It had SuperSu installed, seems working well.
What I m thinking is how to flash this phone to the proper d801 stock rom?
Thanks for any advice.
