Hello everyone,
Obviously, I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 (i337) through AT&T and I've run into some issues. I was able to root my device on the newest firmware available for my phone (5.0.1) and everything seemed to be working fine. I went through my usual methods, removing bloatware, especially the AT&T stuff since I'm not on that carrier at the moment. Some stuff that I wasn't sure on I simply froze rather than removed. My problem comes in when I use the keyboard.
Up until now the default Samsung keyboard has worked great. But I absolutely hate the autocorrect issues I run in to so I do the sync with my Facebook option so it learns the majority of what I type. However, this time, every time I try to sync it with facebook it gives me an error instantly. So I decided to try it with gmail and I get the same error. No specific reason, just that it failed. It did however, work great in contacts and Twitter.
So I removed my root, went back to complete stock and now it syncs with all just fine with no issues. So by default I assumed it was the root, as I re enabled anything that would relate to this prior to going back to stock and got the same results. My question is that has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know the reason behind this, what causes it, or possibly how to fix it without losing root? It's important to me as I don't have much storage space on my phone at the moment.
Please and Thanks in advance!

i have focus sim unlocked on att. i don't have any problem in installing apps from market place but i am not getting auto updates for apps. when i search for any app that i already installed , apps that are having updates it shows up and when i click update it updates. but itz painful and time consuming in searching for the updates that i already installed. do any one having similar issue? if there is a solution for this please leave a post. thanks in advance
I'm also having this issue and need help for a solution as well!!
The explanation is simple: the available bandwidth is the same while the number of phones and app checks has increased.
So, this not actually an issue, this happens. If you're mainly using 3G connection, this is to be expected.
3G connection is sensibly slower than WiFi and the number of apps has gone past 30k, thus some checks will time out.
It is recommended that you use USB/WiFi connection to sync from time to tome to prevent this happening very often.
I doubt that's the problem.
My girlfriend also has a Samsung Focus (updated to mango), and we have some of the same apps/games...when one has an update on her phone the marketplace tile alerts her, but mine doesn't show anything unless I search for the app in the market and check it, then it tells me there's an update, not sure what to do.
definitely a big issue... it has been a month since my marketplace has stopped showing any app update already. The updates are there when I manually search for it. It was fine for the past 9 months until now.
Weird thing is both my girlfriend and me are using unbranded Optimus 7, same carrier, same account/phone settings. but she keeps getting new update alert almost everyday, which I did not, even for the same apps.
Tried connected via 3d/wifi/usb all day long, tried guessing and uninstalling app which maybe conflicting, etc... none helped.
anybody else find a fix yet? please share
Still no luck...
Maybe its because I did the force update to Mango (my girlfriend didn't to that and hers works fine) so I have a bad feeling it was because of that, and no one seems to have a solution. I've reset my phone, re-installed apps, etc.
When I first had CM 10.1 everything seemed to be working fine and dandy and then I started to update it straight from my device up to my current version 10.1.2.
Recently my nexus 4 seems to be less smooth, sometimes apps just randomly close and it will say, _____ app has closed, or something like that. Normally I'd fix it by either clearing all my recent apps or restarting my phone.
Also, the one thing that had me annoyed was that my emails never send out. They used to before, but now its stuck on the sending... when I check the status. I can receive mail though. I am using the gmail app.
I don't know so far these little things have been bugging me. What would be the problem here? I was even considering going back to stock but really like the custom navigation keys. I have my back button on the right inside of on the left and its much more comfortable for me that way. Is there anything else that will allow me to customize the navigation buttons?

Do us all a favor, and please, upgrade to CM10.2, or at least a 4.3 ROM.
I did the towelroot last night on my AT&T S4. Worked like a champ.
I installed SU Pro, Busybox Pro, and Titanium BU Pro afterwards. SU pro failed to update the binaries, so I don't know what that means. I uninstalled some of the known bloatware, but it gave ominous warnings as I uninstalled bloatware, etc. Although, the phone is working fine with less battery drain. No problems, whatsoever.
Is there a list of bloatware that can be safely uninstalled with the AT&T S4 KitKat ROM anywhere? There's so much crap on here, but I don't want to disable features that are maliciously tied to it. So far; this is awesome!
I had a popup from Samsung today, wanting me to update my security settings. It warned that certain software programs that I may have installed could compromise the security of my phone. I declined; fearing that it may disable my new root status. I don't know who to believe, but it's damn sure not AT&T or Samsung. I also got the "unlocked" symbol upon re-boot. Does that mean that I tripped KNOX? Will Triangle away clear that? The status shows: "Custom". Yet; the phone is working perfectly. I want to know if I should freeze or uninstall FOTA's. Seems like that's going to be a constant PITA.
On another note (no pun intended), I've downloaded certain programs that I thought / knew were useful - some paid / some free - that were memory / data / battery hogs, even though they didn't appear to be so in the EULA's. Is there any program or list of programs from the Play Store that are known pigs? How the hell do you know???
And, speaking of "note", has anyone used this on the Samsung Note 3? Ditto the above questions. I have a brand new one that's nothing but a $700.00 paperweight. It would kick ass if this worked on my Note 3!
I know that this is a new method, but has anyone experienced any negative side effects? Not me, so far. Any suggestions for add-ons for improvement of the performance of either device? This guy is going to get a nice donation this Friday!
A little help?
Thanks,
Jim

So the story goes, I stopped using my stock rooted unlocked Nexus 7 3G 2012 some time ago and layed around not doing anything, so at some point I unrooted it, did the factory restore and updated it to the latest android OTA and gave it to my gf to use. Well she ended up not using it much so a few days ago I picked it up and started playing with it.
To avoid deleting any of her stuff, I just created a 2nd user for me and sync'd my personal and work google accounts to it. I noticed that a lot of my notifications lag behind my phone, if I even get them at all. I keep seeing sync errors when looking at the google accounts, which don't happen on her user. I also can't get mightytext to complete setup either.
Do you think these issues are attributed to the fact I'm using this as a 2nd user and that I'm not the 'Owner'?
I may just have to high jack the tablet completely, but I would be nice of this multi user thing would work, if that is the problem.
Hello folks, new to the forum here. My wife and I both recently got Galaxy S7s from Sams, and our carrier is AT&T. For whatever reason, the push updates never happen on my phone, so I am still in 6.0.1, but my wife's has gotten 7.0 pushed to hers. Problem is that after a while (perhaps a couple of days), her phone starts to develop a persistent lag, where she can't really do anything at all, like typing or changing apps, so severe is the lag. The phone was basically useless at that point, so she would have to restart the phone to restore its normal function. But the lag would always return, and she would need restart multiple times per day.
Talking to Samsung and AT&T proved fruitless at getting any troubleshooting done other than factory resetting the phone. That of course fixed the problem, but as soon as the 7.0 push update happened, the lag came back. We eventually got AT&T to send us a new phone on warranty. But just recently her phone got 7.0 pushed and sure enough the lag is back. Clearly the problem is software related, as my phone is still 6.0.1 and runs perfectly.
I am pretty uninitiated in the Android world, and so I was hoping you folks might be able to help us restore her phone, as I am certain we will get no useful help through the "official" channels. We aren't looking to root or anything, but if there is troubleshooting or a guide we could walk through, we would sure appreciate the help.
Thanks!
I had the same problem when my S7 did the update from 6.0.1 to Android 7. I asked AT&T to change the phone and they did. When the new phone did the update the lag problems started again. I downgrade to stock 6.0.1 and disable the update service with Package Disabler. Now I keep on android 6.0.1 (which I like more than the Nougat) and I do not have lag problems.
You could try to flash the Nougat update manually. It's not exactly simple, but a fair amount of reading up on it should prepare you. Obviously you'll lose all personal data, and there's even a chance it might still be laggy for you. There is a guide on how to do this on droidviews.com that helped me tremendously. Make sure that if you try this, you plug in the phone only after it is in download mode and only after Odin is open. Plus you'll need the drivers and to make sure the phone is in USB Debugging mode via developer options, as well as turn on OEM unlock before you try this. Good luck!
