[Q] is there a offical lollipop for d802 - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

if so how can i update ? is there a ota update ?
please help,
thank you

Hi,
Yes there is an official Lollipop for the D802.
However, before I tell you how to get it, I gotta warn you: It could be working good, or it could be driving you crazy because it's possibly filled with bugs.
Also, the update COULD mess up your phone, meaning you'll have to reflash it using the TOT method. This is however something to worry about if it goes wrong.
Firstly, you need a Windows PC for this, if you've got a Mac with only OS X it will not work!
1. Now, to update I'd recommend you first back-up ALL of your files on the internal storage to your pc (pictures, music, video, etc, WhatsApp files, etc.)
2. If you've got that, go ahead and download & install the LG PC Suite.
3. Run it and connect your phone, select the PC Suite mode. Now it could be that it has to install some drivers so just be patient, shouldn't be taking that long in most cases.
4. If it's all connected, it should remind you that there's an update, the PC Suite should navigate you through the update. If it asks you to make a back-up (this isn't the same back-up as you made before), do it, there's nothing worse than losing everything!
5. Now if the back-up has been made you can go ahead and let it update.
6. Ur done! You should probably check if your files are still on the internal storage, if not, you should just copy them back to it.
Keep me updated if something goes wrong and I'll help you out.
Good luck!

For my experience, I have a D802 too
I was on CM12.1 so I flashed to stock with the method found here (LG flashtool) so I was on 4.2.2
After that with the LG pc suite I updated a first time to 4.4.2
and directly after still with Lg pc suite I update to 5.0.2
No error for the moment, it's very stable and bug-less.

Unfortunately, I can not tell you. I've only got the D802, maybe you could do a little bit of research first.
Haven't really got the time to do that right now

Sorry for the late response, I've been busy this week.
Unfortunately, no. I do not have a video for you.
I would've made one if my phone needed a reflash, but it's working fine now and I'd like to keep it that way. Sorry

Like I said, it's best if you do that.
Even if you are a 100% sure that it won't delete anything, you never know what might go wrong in the process!

Completely baffled

Hi,
I've just got this phone today, and have been reading through some posts gathering the mods I wanted for the phone (Xperia tweak, vista battery guage etc.).
Having realised that I needed to update my phone I tried using Sony's updater, which seems to be failing! So went on to investigate about downloading the rom and firmware update.
However, I am completely confused on A) how to install all of these mods I have downloaded
B) How to JUST update the firmware. I am worried if I update the ROM all my vodafone settings will dissappear, which means no internet etc. Is there anyway to just update the firmware without using sony's software?
Again, I am completely confused after reading countless threads in here. Just looking to be pointed in the right direction
many thanks,

When trying to update with SEUS it takes me about 2 or 3 tries to get it to run correctly and find the correct update.

Just connect your phone with your pc and copy cabs to your phone. Go with File Explorer or Total Commander to cabs and click, easy as cake..

Your vodafone settings will be installed through connection setup after updating/installing new ROM automatically (most of the time). So no need to worry about that.
You will loose contacts, sms, e-mail, etc, etc when flashing to a new ROM and there is nothing you can do. Except not to flash a new ROM at all. Only the stuff on your SD card will remain, phone memory is completely whiped when updated.
Just find a nice back-up program suiting your needs...
Thanks very much . Applications are installing nicely!
The update is still getting stuck in the identification bit, sometimes it doesn't even come up! Is it worthit to just update the phone manually? If so, do you just put the img on the phone, or sync it to the phone?
yeah you should think about using an custom rom...
they are faster, more beautiful and the whole X1 Xperience is better
but if u want to have warranty u have to flash back ur device to a stock rom
there are good tutorials about flashing an rom...
look at the stickys
Weird
Strangely I just connected my xperia to my Vista x64 Ultimate desktop without thinking and it updated perfect first time. I didn't do anything extra.

Before trying to update without using SEUS please read the sticky's in the Xperia ROM section of this forum, it is most definitely going to save you (and probably us here at the forum) a lot of frustration.
I got a few links which you can read in given order:

Thanks very much for the replies guys. Looking forward to it all !

I brick my L5 II

Hello every one.
I just got a LG Optimus L5 II E450.
I tryed to root it and worked, i did via an chinese patch or app, was working good, the phone rebooted nice and all.
I dont intend to use non stock roms, but when i shut down my phone and restart it simply bricked with System Error.
I try to enter in recovery mode/ master reset and still it wont boot and keep in the same System Error screen of death.
Anyone know how can i recover it (and apply root again on a way that wont brick the phone).
I realy dont want to send to a tecnical and i want to enjoy my new phone, hehe..
Thanks all.
I manage to recover with the LG tool, it did automatic for me.
The phone is working fine, how ever i lost the Root ofcourse.
Is there a way to root that device, i hear i would need to have CWM Recovery install, but i never see if it do work for my device or not.
Any insigh?
a very easy method is applied by impactor. As you have used the KDZ-flashtool already you have proper USB drivers to run this file. Just follow OP instructions.
I just did it myself yesterday (again after bricking^^) on my E460 with latest V10L

Thanks ill try again, maybe what went wrong for the first time was the other kind of root i tryed

[Solved] Did I hose myself (Knox poblem?)

So, the other day, as samsung was pushing more bloat to my phone, I decided I had had enough Redit told me I could just delete most things from root, I did so by following the instructions from a google search of how-to-root-and-flash-cwm-recovery-on-sprint-galaxy-s4-on-android-4-3-tutorial (except, of course, the back up part)
then, without paying attention to the list of removable apps, I took out Samsung hub, And then the problems start. The phone still works: Except every second or so, i get told that the hub has stopped. The phone isn't bricked, but it is basically worthless with the message popping up constantly.
According to my settings, everything is still stock (L720VPUFNAE) Although I think just rooting it was enough to pop the Knox bubble. I'm not working on getting that rom to try to re-flash back to stock (I thought i had did this over night, but it seems like i had slightly different roms when I was doing this early in the morning)
I also tried installing the Samsung Hub apk, but I get an error stating that X app wasn't installed. I have not been able to find a source for this app while googling.
I've tried finding a custom rom to use, but most of the ones I THINK are good/will work, don't install via odin, and for some reason when I try to boot into recovery, it just sits indefinitely @ the samsung galaxy screen.
Am I just stressed and frustrated, or am I truly hosed?
Edit: I'm currently working through http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2307531 as my next attempt
Edit: for some reason Philz recovery isn't ever entering a recovery mode for me, it just sides @ the samsung screen forever

I get it, i deserve the sarcasm, I broke rule 1 of upgrades. (one of) the problems I'm having though is finding the right file to flash to. Just looking for a little bit of advice as to what files I need to get back to " Normal" I know I should be able to flash to another rom, why when I use Philz Recovery it doesn't do what it's supposed to, is beyond me right now. Odin mobile requires the PDA file, correct? That seems fine to getting back to stock, but most of the custom roms I've found or are at least interested in are just files that are installed via recovery...which for some reason I don't have access too, right?

Correct. If I'd be you, I'd go to sammobile.com, and I'd start from full stock flash. It shall restore recovery. It it would work - you'd be OK to go with custom.

Good. Now, a small lesson for the future, if I can:
if you want to remove something, DO NOT delete software, use Titanium Backup and freeze apk first instead.
This will give you opportunity to check if you have frozen something important. :good:

I DID not mentioned BACKUP.
I mentioned FREEZING.
Backup is another copy, which you may, or may not install.
FREEZE is that all files are present, but the application is not listed in system.

[GUIDE] Unroot for OTA using LG PC Suite (PC Only)

This guide is for use on rooted stock roms to restore the phone to a position where it will accept OTA updates.
Please note the following:
1. It does not wipe the /data/ partition of your device.
2. It will reinstall any bloat you have uninstalled including those apps that you carrier put into /data/
3. It will remove any files you have added to /system/ including root or other modifications
4. Any files you have "frozen" will stay disabled, you cannot unfreeze them without rooting again - this guide will be for a "full unroot" so there is an optional step below to unfreeze apps.
The Guide
1. Download LG PC Suite from LG's website - you must select model type before you do so, but as far as I can tell it downloads the same version regardless.
2. Update the app so it recognises the G3 - this should ask you to update automatically on opening the app, if not you can do it from the "help" menu.
(NB: if you have used some of the KDZ flashing methods on here you may have issues updating as your hosts file is probably altered to block the PC Suite gaining a connection).
3. Connect the phone via USB (the app allows for a wifi connection but this is very restrictive, you require a USB connection for this).
*OPTIONAL STEP* If you want to go back to a truly stock experience then unfreeze any apps you have frozen (I am unsure if having apps frozen will effect OTA installations, it should still work fine, in theory).
4. With the device connected go to the "phone" menu in PC Suite and select the option that says "Restore Upgrade Errors".
5. It will then scan your device, download the rom and begin flashing, this is all automatic without any further input from you, do not cancel it.
6. The phone will reboot when finished. You are now unrooted and unmodified and OTA's should work.
*OPTIONAL STEP* If you want to go back to 100% stock then its probably a good idea to factory reset your phone at this point - this will wipe your whole device (of course).
And there you have it, your quick(ish), painless method for being able to unroot to accept OTA's without requiring a wipe.
Nice thanks Lenny, that may be handy. I'm supposed to receive mine today from Amazon.de, will play around a lot with root / unroot
Strange. Every time I click on restore errors it hangs for 30 secs and then LGpcsuite exe stopped working message and it stops. Any ideas ? I'm using windows 7 64bit and all drivers installed, pc recognizes phone.

Could be a conflict with something else - to get it working for me I had to delete all traces of LG from the pc - all LG apps, drivers (including using USBDeview) and start over.
First of all, thank you for your detailed tutorial. Yesterday I have had the same idea... can someone confirm this theory... though there is no update for international version yet, someone with the korean model?

I tested this theory yesterday, albeit without an OTA - it does replace all modified and removed files in /system/ as well as removing any files you have added such as root or xposed.
There is no reason for the phone to continue to report that it has been modified, certainly if you take my final optional step and couple this restore with a factory reset.
Gotta love it when manufacturers make it simple to go back to 100% stock without any real messing around. Thanks for this :good:

Hopefully someone else who has the FK versions can shed some light.

Stuck in TWRP on LG G2- need a Good Samaritan

First off. I'm pretty much a layman at this. Anyone that can solve my issues, I'll gladly pay via PayPal or whatever...
Two months ago, I bought a used LG G2 . It was rooted and running Lollipop.
Sadly, I was a PokemonGo junkie, so when the M'F'ng Niantic a**holes put a block on rooted phones, I attempted the Magisk workaround and ended up bricking my device.
Fortunately I found a solution via You Tube and was able to restore to the factory KitKat / AT&T.
THE CURRENT problem is that yesterday I re-rooted the device, installed TWRP, but did something wrong to where it will not fully reboot and I'm stuck in TWRP. I've watched and read about 20 "fix it" instructionals, which rely on using a PC. I'm using a laptop running XP and every time I have downloaded, installed, and tried to update the damn LG USB driver, it won't f*ing update. I'm going mad and ready to jump off a bridge.
Supposedly, this is the place to go. for answers, so ...CAN ANYONE HELP?!! Again, I'm a layman. I need VERY simple, step by step solutions, that account for ANYTHING that might go wrong, since so far, it always does.
Thank you, if you read this.
Ok Can you access to twrp ?
(Sorry for my english i'm french)
If you are in the TWRP, just download some other kk rom, transfer it to your phone and install, one question, what TWRP is it ? 2.8.7.0. ?

Agreed. Also, if there's no communication between PC and device, you may need an OTG to flash from.

It's TWRP 2.7.0. I kind of know in theory what needs to be done, but I don't know how to do it. I thought I backed everything up using Titanium and TWRP, but maybe the KK ROM is gone? I dunno... I was actually hoping to install Lollipop
What model do you have?
If it is d802, then there is an easy-to-flash rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development-d802/rom-pure-stock-lg-google-apps-t3477635/page1
To transfer it to the phone, you can use OTG as Dork said: put the rom on a usb-stick and connect it to the phone with an OTG cable. Most versions of twrp support OTG.
Another way is to get linux for your PC. You're really better off with linux than XP, but you can also just boot with a live-cd. In linux, USB generally just works, though sometimes you have to be root because ordinary users may not have permission.
Thanks for the replies, but being very new at all this, I don't know how to do any of the things suggested. I ended up finding a you tube video which walked me through downloading lg flash tool and some .dll file, and on my work computer with windows 7, I was able to install the usb drivers & change the port number which allowed LG flash to work. The crappy XP didn't have that option on the device manager menu and wouldn't install the drivers.
Anyway, I got it restored to ATT stock KitKat. I wanted Lollipop and Magisk, so I tried installing TWRP with AutoRec, then got stuck in TWRP and bricked again. So I did the whole lg flash to KitKat process again. Now Im sick of messing with it and bricking my phone. I cant find any super simple step by step tutorial that makes sense to a layman like me, or that doesn't leave out steps, or provide expired links, or account for anything that could go wrong. I had hoped this was the place to come, but no luck so far. I know its time consuming for someone to make up a truly easy to follow guide for an older device, using layman terms that my grandma could follow, and I work 2 jobs and dont have hours to try to thoroughly learn OS programming, so I guess Ill just leave well enough alone and live with KitKat and without the ability to mask my root.

Thanks for the replies, but being very new at all this, I don't know how to do any of the things suggested.

Do what everybody here has done: read. And when you say "I can access TWRP. I just don't know what to do with it." you havn't even read the basics.
Just read the provided solutions properly. The Knowledge will grow. Here's a list of methods:

I have tried reading a lot of different threads. As I said before, I don't understand the "tech talk" for lack of a better word. When I'm reading "bootload" this, and " sideboot" that, and kernels, and loki, and CM, and mods, and .kdz and ATD,....I don't know what all that means, & there's no OS dictionary to translate. I can't seem to find any threads that explain it for newcomers trying to learn.
Im an accountant. I can prepare corporate tax returns with my eyes closed, but cell phone programming is Greek to me.
