Share Your FauxClock Settings-Thread! - Xperia Z2 General

NOTE: The equality to this thread in the Z1-section can be found Here. Enjoy!
A lot of users wanted / requested someone to start a topic of this kind - and voila, here it is:
The Official & Dedicated Thread about sharing your each and specific FauxClock / Pimp My Z1 / Performance Control App / Trickster Mod / -Additional App Name- settings to other users so they can try out either some settings that gives god holy battery life or monstrous performance from the Ferrari manufacturers themself!
Just for making the posts easier to read and understand for the less experienced / knowledged users - Write your posts with includings settings in a classic, lined way - Like this;
- What app are you using..
- Which ROM are you on..
- Which kernel are you on..
- What CPU frequencies are you using..
- Your specific CPU governor..
- Your specific IO Scheduler..
- Your specific GPU governor..
- What GPU frequencies are you using..
- Any color calibration tuning you want to share..
- Any Multi Core Power saving tunetable enabled (0 / 1 / 2?)..
- Which hotplug driver are you on?
- Intelliplug ECO-Mode - On or Off?
- Etc etc.. You get the point hopefully..
Any selfmade / specific favourite init.d scripts? Post them below so other users can get the pure enjoyment to try them out?
Please.. Note this point below;
Post a Screenshot of your total average battery life + Total Screen-On-Time so people can debate / hail / criticize / award / dislike and coment if it's good or bad total battery performance!
OBS!! If you are using any init.d scripts - share them either here, in your post or in a uploaded ZIP / RAR file so other ones can give them a try and see if it extends either performance or battery life for them!
I hope this thread can be made into a sticky - so everything about "SHARE YOUR APP SETTINGS" can be collected into one, overall and single thread, instead of being misplaced all over this Xperia Z2 subforum. Keep it clean and tight <- Good words that a friend told me, and this is a golden rule on massive sites like XDA-Developers with thousand of new threads / posts everyday.
Sharing is Caring - so Happy Sharing, my fellow friends!
Regards,
Destroyedbeauty @ XDA

Tips to increase performance and increase battery life |Xperia X8/W8

Hey people, this is my first post.
So basically this post is for people still using xperia x8 / w8.
TIPS to increase performance :
1. Install a custom ROM (with a custom kernel). It's no use installing a ROM on stock kernel because it's not very fast and battery life is low too ( I like Minicm7 and Minicm10)
2. After installing the kernel and rom, install a nice launcher. (LauncherPro for gingerbread and nova /apex for ice cream sandwich or jelly bean).
3. Tweak cyanogenmod performance settings : increase vm heap size, allow purging of assets, disable surface dithering, set cpu governor to smartassv2. Overclock if you want but not too much.
4. Use v6 supercharger script. (easy to follow and works great). Do it only if you have custom kernel, because on stock it asks to update busybox which soft bricks the phone).
5. Use autostart manager to remove unnecessary apps from boot.
6. Install apps that you need.
7. Enable "long press to kill apps" in development and kill after you use them like browsers etc.
8. Don't use task killer.
Battery life tips (I assume you are on custom ROM with custom kernel) :
1. Use setcpu and enable profiles. Make the following
A) Screen off - Set Minimum and maximum values of clock the lowest.
B) Battery levels - Choose the maximum to any value below 600 mhz but above 320 when say, the level is less than 40 percent or maximum 480 when the level drops below 50 percent.
2. Make sure you uninstall Dsp manager with titanium backup or root uninstaller.
It sucks lots of battery.
3. Don't set auto brightness.
4. Keep vm heap size to 32.
5. Set governor to on-demand using set cpu for all profiles. AS WELL as for normal usage. (where there are sliders)
6. You may use antutu battery saver. It may or may not work for you.
7. Use v6 supercharger script.
That's it. Press thanks if I helped.

I appreciate you for the effort you made.
But there are already many threads about it and also I think that most of the x8 users do have knowledge of these basic things..

Sir, Thank you for your review and the beer Yes I am aware of the fact that many people know about it but are tired going through many threads so I compiled a list. That's all.
Exactly this thread will be helpful for noobs much. Nice info

@op you may want to review some info. for example, for performance, smartassv2 isn't really the best choice (interactive or ondemand, anyone?). you may also want to remove v6 supercharger since noobs will ultimately ask a lot of questions about it (specially ics/jb users). conversely, ondemand is NOT the best choice if you want to save battery. it has a hair trigger that jumps to max freq and stays there for a long time (like interactive but with different conditions for scaling iirc). there are also lighter launchers than nove/apex/launcherpro. uninstalling or freezing unused apps can also help performance instead of trying to kill them (specially with apps that simply restart themselves). you also have the undervolt option. and updating busybox will not necessarily cause issues if you're on custom kernel. i've updated mine on cm7&10 without issues. i do think gdx (at least on stock kernel) bootloops if you update it. as daggre said, we already have lots of tuts about this, so it would be best to give accurate info or else it will just confuse users.
Hey i heard that if i use my sd card for page file i can increase ram or something like that but is it safe i heard that sd card life will get decreased

Yes you can use Swapper 2. Useful only if you use class 6 SD card or above. otherwise no use.

[Discussion]DooM Kernel for Z1

Hello Everyone. Our great developer @DooMLoRD buddy has done it again. And this time its for the Z1.So on his behalf I am opening this general discussion thread to keep the development thread clutter free. Ask your queries here and they will be answered.
Known issue with overclocking
It has been observed that the overclocking sometimes reverts back automatically to stock settings especially after heavy CPU load and if the device heats up.
I think have found why this happens:
Android OS level
there is a binary called: /system/bin/thermald which writes lower CPU freq values to the CPU sysfs interface if the device starts heating
there is also an app "Overheat Control" which i suspect is doing something similar
Kernel level
there seems to be some sort of fail-safe in place "msm_dcvs" which resets the CPU to 918Mhz or 1026Mhz or 1512Mhz
could also be some other things i am still searching
now there are ways to circumvent these issues but given the risk of the damage associated with overclock for long time i think its in our best interest to not screw with these fail-safes...
most of these will be will be taken care off in future kernel releases
To Do List:
Merge all features from my Xperia Z kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2172888
detailed list:
main kernel
add VDD interface (DONE)
remove CPU auto throttling restrictions
disable CIFS
add GPU O/C (DONE)
add GPU governor
add CPU governors
AVS
I/O schedulers (DONE)
unlock 192MHz frequency
screen gamma control
increase USB OTG voltage (?)
slide2wake
exFAT support
ZRAM
cleancache, frontswap
XZ other compression support (DONE)
mpdecision (?)
ramdisk
add dual recovery CWM + TWRP (DONE)
add init.d support (DONE)
import customizable init.something.rc from /system/etc
so at the moment from your post above are you saying the Z1 does not support exfat out of the box

Yup
"Thanks button is just to avoid "THANKS" posts in threads. Nothing more than that. Don't ask in signature or post for it and defeat the purpose why it was introduced"
Thanks for that, that explains partly why my Z1 trashed my 64gb SD card that I had working in my XZU the latter fully supports exfat
I guess it is wrong to assume anything when it comes to Sony devices, I had at least expected if the XZU supported exfat that the Z1 would also

[quote name="JellyKitkatLoli" post=60504903]Since there's so much kernel talk on this thread I am just going to sum this for once and all at least of today.
Disclaimer : The organization Performance>Battery goes by how it is right from the box, No kernel APPs, no anything, just defult settings the kernels come with and what you should expect from those, however they are also a great guideline to know what you're going to get primarily, even after tweaking, This is based on My experience along with other User's from the Kernel's respective threads and from different ROM threads.
Best performance : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934546156 And in case you're doubting here's a little peek from AnTuTu, Remember no tweaks
[Just for Reference, Stock is around 45k~46k.] , Daily usage is a bit faster too along with gaming, I suggest to add gboost and usbfast charge. However the battery life is like I've said down below IS lower than what it normally COULD be under the right tweaks [Compared to STOCK] but it still is a monstrous battery life (Compared to the other devices on the market hehe ), and if you LOVE [every other Kernel will only be less by what? 0.1 MS? This is for the powerusers] foresaid stuff such as gaming and multitasking this is the right choice .

Best Battery life : http://themikmik.com/showthread.php?16336-KERNEL-SENSE-ALL-M8-VARIANTS-BeyondStockᵀᴹ-v2-1-0 - Read the thread and you'll understand why it has the best battery life, It's just stock with SUPPORT THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE, If you like STOCK kernel and wanna use MultiBoot this is the answer, Expect stock-like performance but a bit better battery.
Pick what you think is best for YOU, I have sorted it out based on performance > battery life (Furthermore all have great performance, SD Exceeds at that though.
My favorite Kernels Would be; Skydragon as I like squeezing my performance to the limit,Lyapota's kernel as it's working great overall but it can be iffy, BeyondStock since it's just the best solution for a roadwarrior and back2basic.
I would do the amount of bugs user's find and encounter however it's very user specific and mileage may vary, So sorting the kernels and organizing them by battery and performance is the best. [/QUOTE]

Battery saving tips....
for those wanted to squeeze as much juice as they can out of our m8's.
In accounts and sync go to google and uncheck any syncs you don't need,
In developer options uncheck show animations and allow mock locations,
In display and gestures uncheck ambient display you can also turn off motion gestures if you don't need them and then of auto brightness,
set your brightness manually and try to keep it below 30%
Set screen off time out to 30 seconds or less.
In sound settings uncheck pocket mode, sounds and vibrate.
Turn off auto sync and auto rotate.
use HTC power saver, most of the time performance is perfectly adequate unless playing high end games in which case to can turn it off,
Set GPS to device only not battery saving google messed that up lol.
You can use app ops to deny wake up on syncing apps like google play services facebook and google + ect.
And of course use greenify to hibernate games and apps that are not in constant use,
it's not wise to hibernate sync apps like google+ and facebook and google services this leads to excessive wakelocks,
It's also not wise to hibernate system apps unless it's apps you can download from the playstore and they're not important.

Best performance : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934546156 And in case you're doubting here's a little peek from AnTuTu, Remember no tweaks
http://i.imgur.com/wC5UMuZ.png [Just for Reference, Stock is around 45k~46k.] , Daily usage is a bit faster too along with gaming, I suggest to add gboost and usbfast charge.

Testing? I actually don't wanna test. I just want a stable kernel capable of HD audio. That's why I chose lonelyx. You think I could have a better choice?

I think lyapota had the best sound quality I've heard in a kernel TBH. Better choice is your opinion I can only say try them out and make your decision, there is a kernel guide in the op now mate, it should explain a few things.

At the moment I'm running stock like settings but planning to learn to tweak governors and such to customise my experience.
@smeejaytee ... thats about time someone in here figured this put ... thx a lot for this thread, mate ... looking forward to many hours in here compiling and refining our devices to utter perfection on top of the most perfect rom ever
I thought it might help there isn't really anywhere to talk about this stuff.

ROMs and Kernels, which are you running and why?

What's YOUR Set-Up?
Hello everyone, like most people here on XDA, I enjoy switching between ROMs and Kernels while keeping an eye out for a daily driver that I like best. If you have any other ROM/Kernel combinations that you enjoy and think others might also enjoy, please feel free to share them here and explain why it's awesome!

This thread is for the Nexus 6P only
Currently I'm running:
Device: Nexus 6P - 32 GB - Aluminum (If you're curious )
ROM: Chroma (11/22) latest with SElinux Enforcing
Kernel: ElementalX (0.08) latest [SElinux Enforcing option ticked.]
Small Cluster - 1555 MHz (stock)
Large Cluster - 2054 MHz (Max)
Govenor - ElementalX
Min. CPU Frequency - 600 MHz
Max. CPU Frequency - 1824 MHz
GPU: Max = 600 MHz / Min = 180 MHz / Governor = msm-adreno-tz <------------- Anyone recommend a different governor? One for performance and the other interactive?
Color Setting Recommendations? (ElementalX App Only)
I/O Scheduler - FiOPS <----------------------- Anyone recommend a different I/O? BatterySaver/Performance/Interactive?
I'm also curious about the color fixes that Kernels purport to solve (washed out blacks? other issues?) and how to apply these fixes if someone can point me in the right direction or provide their own instructions and values for the color options (Everywhere I look just says tune to your liking but I need somewhere to start, and frankly, I don't know where to start)
I'm really enjoying this ROM/Kernel combo but I am having Battery Drain to the likes I've never seen before, which is probably my fault.
I'll attach logs from BetteryBatteryStats as well as the Battery Stats from Stock 6 or so hours after the posting of this thread (for accuracy).
Any 'Standard' or 'Conventional' logs needed to convey insightful information? for BBS or for anything else? Let me know.
Please let me know if you need any other information and perhaps how I can retrieve it for you (kinda noobish, but not extremely bad lol)
I'm certain it's a user issue but I don't know how to find and correct the issues myself, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm running Chroma ROM for some of the simple customizations and its speed (I don't care about Layers [probably cuz I don't know how to use them]).
I'm running ElementalX simply for the Overclock/Underclock CPU options and the advanced color control (once I learn how to use it) but I don't care about any of the gestures, sweep2sleep,
NTFS r/w and exFAT support (no clue what this is), and Option to disable fsync (don't know what this is/does)
Lastly, what I'm looking for out of a ROM/Kernel combo is great battery life and great performance, with some fun features but definitely minimal. So if feel your setup matches these wants, and you don't mind sharing it here with me, as well as others who may be looking for a similar setup, please do so!
I, as well as most others on this forum, would also be happy to help troubleshoot any problems you may be experiencing with your ROM/Kernel combo to the best of our abilities but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to fix your phone and the responsibility of the device lies with you, the user.
Stock rooted rocks for the first 3 months until development picks up, kernel developers make enough changes and rom developers fully implement most features into their roms.
Enjoying Stock Rooted smoothness... for now!
No need to create multiple threads on exact same thing.
