So, Sony’s Jelly Bean 4.2 upgrade for Xperia Z and Xperia ZL is well underway* – next up, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z will start receiving 4.2 from early August.
Yesterday you probably saw Google announce the next version of Jelly Bean (Android 4.3) – we’re already getting stuck in and can confirm we’ll make 4.3 available for: Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP and Xperia Z Ultra…
We’re also looking at uplifting some of our other devices running 4.1 direct to 4.3 – we’ll share more info / deets / timings when we can, so be sure to follow @sonymobileNews for all the latest.
If you fancy learning a little bit more about the technical side of our software development, check out Developer World’s latest piece on how we’re improving and refining our efforts to bring users new Android versions.
On that note, thank you for all the feedback on our Jelly Bean 4.1 rollout for Xperia 2012 products – we’re aware the process hasn’t been as succinct or as timely as you might’ve expected. As part of Developer World’s piece, Fredrik Ekstrand, our Head of Software Product Management, elaborates on some of the reasons for this, but essentially – we’ve heard your frustrations and are constantly improving the way we do things.
If you have any questions, feel free to drop them below.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to be wrong They are currently doing big efforts to be efficient and that why I bought a sony device in the first place.
They are the first to reply at the google announce so I hope for the best.
I would like to suggest the DEV Team to pay special attention to the Camera and Audio quality on the latest Xperia 2013 line , Using the the exmor sensor and as it was hyped the quality is just horrible and unacceptable from a sony device.
Just release the AOSP for this! Then the "XDA Dev Team" *lol* can take over..
It owuld be much easier for them.

Android 4.2 was announced 8 month ago, and you will not give it to our Xperia SP, we must wait again some month (6? ). And they said, without no shame, "Check out on how we're improving our efforts"!
I think, they actually laughing about us!

No they didn't. Where the f did you even read that? They both implied that the SP update won't come early august and that they won't be skipping 4.2. That or they don't know how to write news releases.

Have patience or head over to the firmware made for every Z2 and flash it.
This is not the place for you to cry!!!!!
Here we mod for our own use as niabloc did for all of us.
Damn, I thought that D6502's lolipop is available!
Now Android 5 has some bugs, so I think the update will be delayed.
Absolutely. The update which was rolled out is not at all the final firmware if it was it could have been rolled to other regions also since india is always one of the first countries where sony starts rolling new firmware. I think it safe to assume we will get the update only in april.
Maybe sony noticed the x-reality bug and stopped the rollout..

I updated with Nordic Lollipop firmware and found out that I could not search anything on Walkman App (I used stock xperia keyboard with THAI and US layout). I think there might still be some problems with non-latin writing regions. Now, I'm back to KitKat.
Anyway, don't worry about getting the update. I last to get is always Japanese variant.
I don't understand why some of you fail to READ posts in a forum.. There is a D6502 patch available for the prerooted fw provided by niaboc79.. Plus Search bar in walkman works fine. Make a fresh install to avoid bugs like that. Only problem in Lp update is XR and Super vivid files are missing. Apart from that, I have zero issues. Since I am on UB, I don't have to worry about it, though since most of you guys like to stay on LB, you can flash the mod in themes section which fixes the XR issue.. And there won't be any changes in the Indian update unless there is a change in the build number, which is very highly unlikely.. So stop thinking that there are bugs and it should be fixed. Read more guys, read before complain..

If you don't have patience, go ahead and flash nordic version or cm12...
I'm waiting too. Just need a bugless release, than the buggy one. Till then, just enjoy KK. KK is nice too... Premium look than childish lollipop. Sdcard write is the only thing i need now, without rooting.

To be honest releasing the FW in just 2 regions doesn't seem like a roll out to me, more like a test run. and maybe when the actual roll out happens next week india will be the 1st one in that to receive it. and even you guys didnt actually get it. just used a different ftf to flash. that does not count

this comment was for Z3 which saw multiple regions receiving the update last week, but even that stopped after tuesday and no new regions received it since Wednesday that i know of. was hoping even z2 might start receiving at the beginning of this week, but seems like sony has made it a habit of going back on their word repeatedly.

Sony rolled out android 5.1.1 for the Z2 and Z3 a while back and said other devices would get it in the following weeks! It's been awhile now and they didn't even certify a new build yet :/ I'm starting to think Sony is going to say that 2gb of ram is not enough to run the latest android
When do you guys think it's coming?
Are you waiting for the update or are you happy with the os right now?
i am really getting annoyned with the ram management if they wont update it , atleast fix the memory management e.e
Yes agreed. My phone has become barely usable because of that ****ty memory management in 5.0.2. They should really move on to 5.1.1 because that's ruined for too long now. What fears me though is that the new version is still not published on PTCRB which means it won't be available in the next two weeks... We will have to wait somewhere in September probably.

It hasnt been certified yet , usualy the update comes after 2 weeks after certification.
Xperia z1 will be another fail just like xperia sp
Since launch it still has bad multitasking
And sony will discontinue it's update cycle along with the original xperia z
So i think z1 z1c zu z and zr wont get the taste of android M imo
, they said they would release it the following weeks after z2 update, not the following month/s
Yeah, 5.1 was a let down on other devices, will not be any different with the Z1. Looking for a long battery life and fast ROM based on 4.4.4. Already went back on my other devices.

Probably will stick with fxp if the Z1 won't get the M . i've seen mods that allows you tu use 4k and other camera features from the stock rom on cm and other aosp rom so i will not loose great things going to fxp or cm
