Not sure if anyone knew but thanks to another, I recently discovered that we can run S6 ROMS on our edge and they can run our edge ROMS on their regular S6. You just have to download any one of their roms and then flash your specific device kernel. Right now I'm running the VM rom (found in the S6 forums) on the T-Mobile S6 Edge. First I flashed the ROM through TWRP and then I flashed the T-Mobile S6 edge KERNEL right after and it booted right up. Give it a shot. Don't blame me if you mess up and your phone blows up. Also, make sure your efs is backed up. You never know what can happen to that sensitive partition
UPDATE: THOSE WITH 925T and 925W8 MODELS....if you flash a 920F or I rom, you will not have call audio work. you will not hear the person and they will not hear you. you have to wait until the developer adds support FOR THE 920T and 920W8 MODEL into the rom then we will be able to use it on the 925T and 925W8 models with calls working.
Thanks for the info. When time i will try it. Somehow it makes sense because it has the same specs
Thx for info, i will try when i go back home.

How do the display behave? Does it spread to the edge or does it stop before? Thx

No edge features since the regular s6 doesn't have the edge features but I don't care anyways. I don't use the edge features.

The s6 edge display is pretty much a full display. Everything shows up on it. It's only that the ends are bent but it's one single display. Everything shows up without a problem
Going to try this tonight hope your right lol
Update: everything works without an issue except one thing. Call sounds. Seems when I get a call, I cannot hear the other end. Anyone else have the same issue?

Thank you for the answer. That is a great news as development seems to be more active for the flat s6.
I also would like to know if writings spread on the edges?
Wouldn't this cause the bootloader or modem to change though? Would it be possible to go back to an s6 rom if and when more come, p

Use a custom kernel should have audio in calls. So far been using my phone with s6 rom all day no. Issues at all. Bluetooth wifi calls, music display everything working perfectly! And battery has improved from lack of bloat from custom rom and ktoonsez kernel! Highly recommended trying it out! And my bootloader and modern are unchanged. When flashing custom roms via recovery

Hey guys, recently just picked up an S4 from a friend after my HTC One battery kicked it. I have a random problem with the phone that I'm hoping someone here can help with.
When using a stock or TouchWiz ROM, I have zero problems with both the top and bottom microphones. I can speak to people in calls or record voice using apps and it's loud and clear. When I install a Cyanogenmod of any version (I have tried 10, 11, 12, 12.1, and 13) the bottom mic drops it and becomes very muffled to the point where you can't hear anything on the other end or in a recording. Speaking in to the top mic works perfectly though. Bluetooth works fine too and I have no issue speaking to or using A2DP with it.
Has anyone seen this before, and if so, has anyone fixed this? I'd much rather use a Cyanogenmod ROM instead of TouchWiz but at the moment it seems I have no choice ...

I've tried a few other CM roms, I'll find an AOSP rom and give it a go now!
EDIT: Just tried two AOSP roms, same deal. Top mic is loud, bottom mic is quiet ... No good!
I'm running CM13 without issues.

Try this one and see if the issue exists.

Try a rom that has alucard kernel (either flash optimized cm12.1 or jdc team aosp) and go into stweaks and in the sound tab change the microphone gain sliders.

Tried CM13, same issue carries on.
I now have CM12.1 with Alucard kernel and STweaks. I've turned the Camera Mic Gain up to 60 and people can hear me now, but they say it sounds slightly quiet still. Is there anyway to go past the max setting in the STweaks?
Not that I know of.

Are you sure you don't got dust in the two holes? Sound to me you have to clean the two holes.
Nope, I had the phone apart and cleaned both holes, no difference.
The confusing part is that on a TouchWiz ROM the microphones work as they should. It's not until I'm running CM or AOSP that I get this problem.
It's almost as if the microphones have been switched and the top becomes the voice mic and the bottom becomes the noise cancelling one.

I've lost count of how many times I've pointed out this problem. No, changing gain value will not solve the problem. This has been a truly dealbreaker for me, as this affects every cm based rom. @AntaresOne said that this problem comes from using caf drivers and I think it cannot be fixed unless Samsung releases its own source codes.

It's not that hard to believe, seeing as there are over 40 different S4 models. You just can't make a rom to work perfectly on all.
I never had any major problems with any of the roms I flashed, yet other people seemed to have serious issues with the same rom.
I don't know why Samsung can't make just one model. It splits the user base, it gives them more headaches because of updates and such.

Yes, I agree on that. It's crazy to make that many models. I made the assumption that he has an i9505 but maybe he has a different model.
Try to record a voice message with Whatsapp using TW/GE rom and then with CM/AOSP rom, you will clearly hear the difference. jfltexx here.

Romsupport is in my opinion not so good. I don't like ports. And "stock android" (lineage)has just arrived with some bugs. It's good but not flawless.
At this moment there is no up-to-date stock s6 edge plus rom available.

S6 edge plus is a too bad cellphone. Battery drain is shameful and scandalous (not only in sleep mode as, for instance, call battery drain is about 180 mAh per hour, the double of screen consumption!!!) ,it's a very heavy and fragile cellphone and Samsung firmware support updates is miserable and scandalous bad! Android O 8.0 is coming next month and this premium phone with a very hi price even haven't yet Android nougat 7!!!
DON'T BUY SAMSUNG. Too expensive for the quality and support

I currently have s6 edge plus and have rooted it. I tried installing khongloi s8+ port and for me i got about 2 .5 hour SOT and about 11 hour standby but with dr ketan S8 port with microG I get about 4 hour SOT and about 15 hour standby.I would recommend dr ketan rom if you do get s6 edge plus.
Which version do you have?
I've installed the latest version (7) with kernel V7 and i easily get 4 hours SOT. Need to charge it once a day. With some gaming and youtube.
If you want Dr. Ketan's rom, go to note 5 thread. That version is also suitable for our plus.

I play some very intense 3d games and snapchat. Thats probably why I get such low SOT.
The best Galaxy phone for me! 8 hours of work, few hours of talking, 4-5 days of standby, outstanding display - overall 9/10 points. G935F is better in battery department.

This is a serious question. What is the appeal in s8 roms? I've been thinking of trying one myself. So far I've tried a few stock based roms and lineage (which wasn't very good, honestly) and am currently very happy with the Superstock rom.
What do s8 roms offer over stock s7 ones? Are they as stable, is the camera as good, and are there any negatives? Thanks a lot for any helpful replies. [emoji3]

In my opinion S8 ported roms are way smoother than stock. Its very smooth..
Some S8 ported roms has very bad battery life and some has good and decent battery life..
And also in my several tests i found S8 ported Camera is not good as stock one.
All S8 ported roms are super stable only.
The mains things about s8 ports is to use latest apps and features (infinity wallpaper, new lockscreen and every apps in latest dream UI version with all new s8 icons
But of course bugs cause of the different screen ratio , different hardware and nav bar , etc, so worst battery life etc..
I prefer personally s7 base with s8 apps , like ambasadii v15 + the add on that install so apps and theme the Rom to do style , and get stability performance and battery of s7 base in s8 style
And about aosp I agree. It's very sad , it's usable but compare to other aosp of other Samsung devices it's not the best, it's seems that aosp is way harder in s7 than other devices

Somebody knows about the s8 camera? I explain, it's the same sensor as s7 but Samsung said there is an all new software treatment or I don't know what that increase the camera quality. (I am like many absolutely not sure what it is or if it's really true but anyway) is this "new software treatment" in camera app , that we "get" if we install on our s7 or in the s8 software that we can experience with an s8 rom port? What are you thinking about it guys?

i'm doing the opposite, lol, i'm experimenting alot with some of the S8+ themes (dark notifications, etc) and Substratum themes to make my FE to my liking. Installed the System Tuner App (from the Playstore) to better control notifications, apply 25% animation speed and remove the battery icon. i had one incident where a Substratum theme caused the screen to go blank, but used ADB to uninstall the offending apk and was back in business. right now i've tried to ASOP-isize my phone with SwiftDark AOSP Status Bar Icons, Google Dialer and a kanged version of BlackNotificationsOnly where i'm using a light gray background vs.100% black. Using Adhell to block adds and for the most part it's working well. I flashed the S version ROM to my device to see what, if any differences exists and then flashed back to the original K version. so far, no major issues.

ROFLMAO! i'm not there yet. so far, i've been able to accommodate most of my needs with the exception of one, and that is adding the text below to the build.prop to improve in call volume.
#--------------------------------------------- Reduce dial-out time
ro.telephony.call_ring.delay=0
ring.delay=0
#--------------------------------------------- Better call voice quality.
ro.ril.enable.amr.wideband=1
#--------------------------------------------- Better Telephony Settings
ro.config.vc_call_vol_steps=25
ring.delay=0

The temptation to install TWRP is very strong. I don't think I've every tried to install a wrong one, so can someone enlighten us as to the danger. Won't be happy until there a backup, then I won't be happy without root, then...

That's it precisely. I got the stock this evening. But I think I will admire the FE for a few more days before I let the temptation take me over. (Maybe someone else will jump first!)
