Why does a part of S4 L720 screen goes dead? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

My Sprint S4 (L720) phone has stock 4.4.2 (NG2) and is rooted with TWRP v2.8.4 recovery installed. The carrier is RingPlus (Sprint network). Every once in a while the top 1/2" of screen goes dead. When this happens I can't swipe the Notification screen nor activate any icons in that region of screen. I've learned that if I toggle the power button, the issue goes away for awhile. I've not found any correlation as to what causes it to appear. Any ideas on what may be happening and how to cure it?

Any hints?

Try to Odin the stock NG2 tar.

Custom Logo on Start Up

My S5 was a little laggy this morning and I had to restart it. After reboot it shows the custom unlock icon on the Galaxy S5 screen. Has anyone seen an explanation as to why this is happening?

Your s5 has its full apps? the many the application sometimes the phone being laggy a bit.
I think this has to do with running ART as opposed to dalvik
Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Yes, it's due to enabling ART - switching back to Dalvik does not remove the custom boot screen either - seems it's here to stay.

Galaxy S4 screen one part dark issue.

One of mine Galaxy S4 screen part 3/4 turn to black. Now It just like S4 smart view, even if remove the flip cover. Top of the screen has colours, but bottom part turn to black. He restarted the phone several times but no luck.
Anyway to fix this issue?

Enter download mode and recovery. If you only see part of the screen in both modes, the screen needs to be replaced. If not seen in either mode the GPU on the motherboard is the culprit and needs to be repaired.

HELP! Samsung S5 (SM-G900A) continually freezing!

I have a Samsung S5 that someone gave to me because of a "freezing" issue. So far, I have tried re-flashing the phone with ODIN 3.11.1 using the stock ROM (AP_G900AUCS4CPA2_CL5869384_QB9138830_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar). I am flashing all 4 of the files (AP, BL, CP & CSC). Sometimes it take a few flashes for the phone to actually boot up. Once it does, it's only a matter of time before it freezes and locks up. When it freezes, I get this "rainbow colored digital noise" across the screen.

Can someone please tell me what I need to do in order to fix this phone?
it looks like a ribbon cable issue. I think your phone is effed
It sounds like there is a "known" issue with these phones? Will Samsung do anything about it for me under warranty?

Is there a way to revive my phone?

I recently changed phones.
Left the s7 edge in my drawer for a few months. Came back to check on it, turned it on - stuck in boot loop out of no where. It was working fine last time I turned it off.
I tried putting it in recovery mode, then I got this screen. After a few seconds it turned off, maybe because I pressed one of the buttons, I'm not sure. Then it completely turned off and now it won't turn on at all. I tried changing for a few hours, tried pressing all combinations of buttons.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
