ZVC is KitKat.. You sure you're not upgrading from zv8 to zva? (JB)ZV7>(JB)ZV8>(JB)ZVA>(KK)ZVC>(KK)ZVD>(KK)ZVE>(LP)ZVG
Just hit update again and again after each update until you get where you want. I'm sure you are now on ZVA or ZV8 if you're not on 4.4.2 yet and you did one update. You can skip all that by using a .tot file to ZVE. (Granted, you will lose any data you may have on the device)
If you want KitKat, go up to ZVE. If you want Lollipop, go up to ZVG.

when i bought the device it started update automatically from Jelly Bean to KitKat but was unsuccessful,, i tried 3 times but failed.... So can u tell me that can i update from Jelly Bean to Lollipop using .tot file and is there any risk of Sim-Lock after update???? another question is that does it matter that the device should be rooted or un-rooted before updating?

It should NOT be rooted for the update. You can't have any modified system files, or any stock system apps removed either. As of right now, there is no .tot for LP. You could .tot to ZVE and then update to ZVG(LP). I'm not sure since its factory unlocked if you'd lose the unlock. Anyone who has unlocked their device themselves has had the SIM lock back up after a .tot. So honestly, I don't have an answer for the SIM question.

do u know how can i make backup of current stock rom before flashing it?
I think that does not exist factory unlocked ls980. To upgrade you must be totally stock and if you are unlocked you arent. I advise you to wait some time until some dev can give you a good multi variant (and so unlocked) lollipop rom.

At some point I had located a guide that could walk me through how to unroot and downgrade to a previous version after you were on firmware version 12B. I am currently rooted on firmware version 12B and running a custom ROM. I also have twrp installed. Could someone please point me to the guide I can't find again? My goal is to return the phone to 100% stock out of the box so I can avoid the OTA that was accepted during activation. Thank you in advance.

I'm trying to Root a completely stock ROM with the latest OTA (ZVC). Unfortunately I'm not having any luck using ioroot25.zip on terminal. I run root.sh and get through 2 prompts until it tells me no firmware available yet. Any advice or help is much appreciated.
Thanks!

Was just about to post the same. Please help!
+1
you must download tot rom file then flash it using flashtool
I'm a complete newb concerning flash/installing software and especially reverting back to 4.2.2.. I have the D802 International version (bought it off Amazon) its the UK edition I believe. I'm trying to find the correct firmware but they are all so cryptic I'm worried I'll download the wrong one ( I have the 32GB version) and brick my phone..
Is there any kind of reliable guide I can use to do this process? Or better yet some kind of automated piece of software?
Or would it be best to just wait for LG to release an update to fix it?
If it wasn't such a big issue ( I use my headphones every day constantly..) I would wait but I don't think I can..
Any information would help.
You can try the steps described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476

Hi -
I have been an iphone guy for last 2 years and Just purchased a new Sprint LG G2 phone from ebay which was sim unlocked. I am from india.
After purchasing found out that this is not factory unlocked and it was rooted and then sim unlocked. After hearing this, i am scared to make any changes on the phone thinking that i might lose my carrier network which i am currently using.
I am currently on:
- Android Version: 4.2.2
- Baseband version: M8974A-AAAANAZM-2.0.20018
- Kernel Version: 3.4.0
- Build number: JDQ39B
- Software version - LS980ZVA
I am kind of intrested in installing different kind of ROM's that are available however i am scared that i might lose simunlock.
Can someone please guide me on things that i can do with this device without losing the unlock?
I am complete newbee and helping me overcome this fear would be appreciated.
Thanks
Sam
Well you can check out the permanent SIM unlock which is for Sprint g2 and even if you switch roms it should still work
Sent from my LG-D800 running stock kk, rooted with philz using XDA app

well I really don't know much about the sprint g2 I do know that zv7 was the original firmware that shipped with the sprint g2 and then there was the update to zv8 and then zva and the latest is zvc, zv7 was the easiest to exploit for recovery and zv8 is still exploitable but zva is exploitable but can only use custom roms based on zva and zvc is not exploitable, each of theses is the different radio/baseband for each new update on the sprint g2, you can look around for how to flash roms with the sprint g2 or ask around, I will look around and let you know if I find anything

Thanks XxZombiePikachu! :good:
Hello,
I just got a Galaxy S5 ATNT (SM-G900A) version with firmware 4.4.2 and build number KOT49H.G900AUCU2AND3
I want to upgrade it to Lollipop, but from what I had seen, I need to upgrade it to 4.4.4 first, How can I achieve that?
I'm not on the ATNT Network(in result, OTA is not working), As i'm living abroad. My phone is factory unlocked.
I had also found an OTA .zip but it's a NG3 one, so I'm not sure if it's compatible with my device.
Thanks guys! (I'm hoping I could do this via the stock recovery way)
*I mean 4.4.4 at the title
I believe theres some ota zips but im not certain theres a way available thats been posted to do this, most of them use odin to get to stock and then using ota to update, or updating to get root, i havent seen one about just manually updating to 5.0, go give the att s5 general section a peek. Otherwise i'd ask the mods to move this over to the att q&a section, im sure one of the devs in the att s5 section would be happy to help.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
Oh, i was incorrect, yes there is a lollipop OTA dump, check the att s5 general section, should be able to sideload.

Hey! Thank you for the reply,
I tried one of the lollipop ota .zips
Named
ATTS5Lollipop.zip
It doesn't install though, when I restart the device it's still on KitKat
Plus the manual ota .zips are for NG3s only,
Are those compatible with my device? (ND3)
NVM,
Downgraded to NCE,
Then upgraded to NG3
Then upgraded to OA1
Then to Lollipop.

Dude, you have to read some basic things to understand, but to give you a direction:
Here's a generell list of guides and fixes. It has a "root"- and a "recovery"- section. Both are absolutely necessary. Go here first.
Here's a list of custom roms. There are stock-roms, stock-based-roms and completely custom-roms. I prefer stock-based-roms because the devs added some extra features and you have full driver support.
I hope this helps a little bit.

i have read some of there before, but i'm yet to understand it, because my previous phone was nexus 4, installing roms and such was fairly easy, and with this LG G2, there are complicated things even as flashing roms, not all models the same and such, and im afraid to brick my phone because of that, i also have a D801 model - D80110C and i have heared that there are different version of things and such.
anyway, what will be the best way to flash stock lollipop / stock based roms and later flash back to 4.2.2 if something goes wrong? thanks
I just did this, in my experience the best way is
1) updating to stock lollipop
2) rooting via oneclickroot
3) flashing twrp via AutoRec (correct version)
4) flashing twrp 3.x blastagator via old twrp
5) flashing desired rom
There is one caveat though, the root process will install the correct (old) SuperSU that works with AutoRec, but google play may update it beforehand so that AutoRec cannot work. My fix was to install AutoRec before the root and then go into airplane mode and do it all in one go. Also, you should always check if you got the correct carrier version of your software.
Going back to kitkat? This should not be necessary imo, but if you mess something up you can always flash the stock .kdz files (lp or kitkat) via download mode and lg flash tool 2014. This phone is almost unbrickable.
Hope this helps and after years of G2 roms I can finally give something back.

do you have a D801 model? i cannot update to lollipop through normal fota or lg pc suite, it doesnt see anymore updates
i have software version of D80110c, what are the last letters means in it? C/G/ and such,
and also how should i update to stock lollipop rom without bricking my phone? it seems that there is alot of room to ****up. thanks =]
I have d802 and could always update it to LP via LG software update in the phone settings.
10/20/30 is android version, 30 being lollipop. 30a/b/c/d is revision or carrier version I think.
I am not sure about D801, but if I was you, I would try to update to LP via official LG update, otherwise try to root+recovery with your existing kitkat (search the forums) or flash LP kdz from download mode (LG flash tool). Always make sure it works for d801 and your software version.
Then I would install a fast custom rom cause stock LP is rather slow.
