[Q] I bricked my Verizon S5. Any help appreciated. - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried to upgrade to the latest version via Keis on my rooted S5. After it said it was successful, it rebooted and now it freezes on the verizon screen when it loads and goes no further. I tried to reset the phone by using Odin 3.09 and the original stock kernal G900V_NCG_Stock_Kernel.tar.md5 but it will just stay at the "samsung unlocked" screen, reboot, then goes into recovery mode. I have done a factory reset on it and re-tried the upgrade with no luck. It will only boot into the recovery mode automatically (I don't have to press anything, it just goes strait to it when it boots). Any advice?
Thank you,

Try this:
1 wipe data/factory reset in recovery
2 remove battery when done
3 start odin, load lollipop firmware, do not connect phone
4 hold volume down, home button and power. do not insert battery
5 insert battery, while holding volume down, home button and power
6 it should boot to download mode
7 now connect to pc
8 flash verizon lollipop in odin

I was able to finally get it working by following the directions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784880
I did try your way but it still gave me the same error. I think something got f'd up on the partitioning? I'm not sure, but i loaded it into Odin and it kept on failing. Only after I re-partitioned it, it finally came back. Thank you though for your help.

[Q] Tab cannot normally boot (stuck in unwanted Factory mode)

Hi!
Galaxy tab 6800. There was rooted stock firmware.
Someday somehow it become not responding, and I pressed power button for some seconds. Unexpectedly, instead of just rebooting, the Tab went into some downloading mode (quite the same as ODIN mode, except that I had a word "Factory" instead of "Odin"). In this state I can only do the following:
1. Hold Power = Factory mode
2. Hold Power+Volume Up = Factory mode
3. Hold Power+Volume Down = Flash OS invite screen, then Volume Up = Odin mode, or Volume Down = Factory mode
__NO Power off, NO Recovery__
So several times I flashed FW's with ODiN both rooted and stock (stock based, not to touch the counter). Everytime right after flashing, Tab normally booted into Android, so I could get to Recovery menu, and I've made all the available format/wipe procedures, flashed again, but every time I tried to power off the Tab, I got rebooted into this odd Factory mode.
Once I have read that one drained his battery and got out of this dead loop. But that was not my case. Firstly it worked, but after I once got working power off and recovery it again rebooted instead of shutting down...
Please, HELP!

If you can get into flashing a stock rom,( without installing CWM ) then get into the recovery of ODIN , and wipe data/factory reset from there, probably you have data corruption.

Just wanted to make sure you meant ODIN recovery & not CWM recovery.
Update. After a couple of days the problem still persists. But for some reason (surely, I flashed and formatted the tab several times during this issue) it became possible to switch to recovery mode after some attempts, though it wasn't yesterday. So I don't need to drain the battery or to connect to PC in order to just power-cycle the device. I can say that it's usable now

[Q] {PLEASE HELP!!!} Bricked Verizon Note 3

I rooted my phone successfully with vRoot but I wanted KitKat on my phone, so I went through SafeStrap to install the update and when I rebooted the phone, it just is black once I boot into system. I can still boot into download and recovery mode but that's it. Please help!!! My Note 3 is through Verizon and has the MJE update. I am in the hospital with my Fiance who is pregnant (they induced her today and have been here for 12 hours now) and really need my phone to post updates to family members. What do I do?!?

If you can get to your computer you will have to Odin back to stock and then re-root. Files and directions for this are here . If not by a computer you can try to boot into recovery mode by holding the volume up+home and the power button. Then scroll down to clear cache and then factory reset with the volume keys. This might get you back to stock, if not Odin.

Well the clear cache and factory reset didn't work, still at a black screen. But I am downloading the other thing. Thank you for the quick response. I will let you know how that turns out.

Seems like you don't have the Samsung USB drivers installed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2576104
That thread has a link to get them, I believe. Make sure you follow directions, I think you tried flashing a rom that was intended for the developer edition of the note 3, which is what caused your brick.

messed up trying to root

MODEL: SM-G900V
hello i messed up my phone by trying to root it, i used a random md5 that someone online said would root it with odin under "PDA" and now my phone will only load into recovery mode
i tried wipe data/factory reset and clear cache neither of them did anything
i tried doing it through kies and doing Firmware Upgrade And Initialisation but i couldn't even get my phone to connect to kies OR my laptop except it attempting to while the phone was starting up,
and when i tried to enter my S/N after my model number it continuously told me it was wrong
and i've tried loading a normal rom into my phone through odin and i couldnt because like i said, it'll only load into recovery mode, not bootloader..
but i think at first it could load into bootloader, but now it can't? it's hard to remember since ive tried so many different things in a very short time
if anyone has any idea how to help me, i'd appreciate it so much! please try to write simply if you can because i am a noob,
You don't need to go into bootloader. You should start with download mode which is accessible by holding vol dn home power.
If that doesn't show up, try taking off battery for a short period of time. If it boots into download mode your good to go.

ah it worked ty!! (incase any1 is here needing help later) the complete fix for it was taking out the battery for like an hour, holding down volume+power+home, plugging it into pc, using Odin3 and a clean rom of my version from sammobile.com, then pressing up volume+power+home again

Recovery Is Not Seandroid Enforcing

I tried to root my phone S7 Edge 6.1.1 just a moment ago using ODIN and CF Auto Root. I got the PASSES! sign in ODIN but upon phone rebooting I am stuck on the Samsung S7 Edge logo screen with text in red 'Recovery Is Not Seandroid Enforcing" up the top.
At this time I am unable to turn my phone off, when I do it just turns back on and goes to the same screen. I can't get into download or recovery mode either.
Any help on how to fix would by greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Also thought I should add, my phone doesn't get registered when I connect it to my PC either, it wont show up in ODIN so I am unable to flash a stock recovery at this time.
It's trying to boot into recovery.
When you say you rooted with CF Auto Root, what did you do precisely? And did you follow Chainfire's specific instructions regarding the lack of screen output during the process?

Thanks for the reply.
I used CF-Auto-Root-zerolte-zeroltexx-smg925f.tar to root.
The steps I used was to simply put my phone into download mode and use ODIN to flash the file mentioned above. That is as far as I got unfortunately. I did this once before, a few month back when I first got the phone with no issues. I remember having to install TWRP but I couldn't remember if I did that pre-root or post-root. But I think that is where I went wrong.
Now I am unable to do anything with my phone. I can't turn it off, get into download or recovery mode. When I hold down VOL UP+POWER+HOME it just resets the phone back to the samsung logo screen.
Any ideas on what I could do?
You used the CF Auto Root file for an S6 Edge.

OH GOD. You're right. I just realized that. I was supposed to have them saved into their own folders but I guess I saved that one too the wrong folder.
So what does that mean for the life of my phone then? Is it toast or is it recoverable somehow?
What is your model? Is it the SM-G935F? If so, first things first, download the correct CF Auto Root file for your device (here) and try again. Press VOL DOWN+POWER+HOME and it should reboot into Download Mode. Then try to flash the correct file in Odin again.
These phones are very difficult to hard brick, especially with something like CF Auto Root so you should be ok.

Yes, it is a SM-G935F. Unfortunately I am unable to reboot the phone into Download Mode. When pressing VOL DOWN+POWER+HOME it just takes me straight back to the Samsung logo where it says "Recovery Is Not Seandroid Enforcing". I'm hoping that once the battery drains completely I will be able to boot into Download Mode again.
Try simply resetting it instead. Press volume down and the power key (don't press home) for around 7-10 seconds. Once it starts to reset, remove your fingers from the buttons very briefly then press volume down, home and power to enter download mode.

That hasn't worked either unfortunately.
I just found this thread from a guy having a similar problem. He just had to wait for his phone's battery to drain completely and then he was able to enter download mode again.
You shouldn't have to though. If you can get the phone to reset at all (even if it's to make another attempt to go into recovery) then providing you time it right, you should be able to get into download mode. Did keeping your fingers on just the volume down and power buttons do anything? Keep them on continuously for up to 20 seconds and see what happens. Did you say pressing vol up & home & power made it reset and try to again get into recovery? What happens if, as soon as the screen indicated it's resetting, you remove your fingers and quickly press vol down & home & power instead?
Anyway, even if you have to wait until the phone dies, getting into download will be possible eventually. Then worst case scenario would be you having to reflash stock back. Or, as would be my preference, flash TWRP then flash a custom rom zip like Superman.
Just to confirm, I take it you selected OEM Unlock in dev options?

I have never had any trouble getting into recovery or download before so I know the method. But just the properly clarify for you I will explain some of the combination I have tried without success. Bare in mind the phone is constantly turned on and idles on the Samsung logo.
I have tried:
Hold VOL DOWN+POWER+HOME, the phone resets and goes back to the logo.
Hold VOL DOWN+POWER, same as above.
Hold VOL UP+POWER+HOME, nothing happens at all.
Hold VOL UP+POWER, same as above.
Hold VOL DOWN+POWER+HOME, release and repress all on black screen, just goes back to logo.
Hold VOL DOWN+POWER, release and hold VOL DOWN+POWER+HOME on black screen, just goes back to logo.
and numerous other things like random combination to try and enter Download or Recovery mode, which have all failed.
Right now it's just stuck on the Samsung logo and staying there, taking forever to drain battery. I work in the morning so hopefully it is dead by then and I can get into Download mode.
Have already started download stock firmware in hopes that I will be able to flash it after.
Thanks a bunch for your help. If you think of anything else I might be able to try let me know!
Oh wow. 100+ attempts and I followed your last post about holding for up to 20 seconds. I was waiting ~5 seconds and releasing thinking that it hadn't worked.
Finally go into Download mode and will flash stock firmware and let you know how I go.
Thanks again! I owe you a cold one.
EDIT: Was no need to flash stock firmware. Just flashed the proper version of CF Auto Root and it worked. Again, thank you so much!
Fantastic. Hope you get it sorted.
On a side note, you have probably already tripped knox and you will have lost you OS data and possibly even what you have stored on internal storage. If so, I suggest you install TWRP, format data (you will lose everything with this but it removed encryption) and install a custom rom like Superman 1.9 from your external SD. It's better than plain stock and comes pre-rooted with plenty of other mods.
I can't get it to work? What keys did you held down?

recovery is not seandroid enforcing
hello,
my S7 Edge was rooted with cf-auto-root and worked fine but after 2 monthe I've installed LBE_Security_Rel_6.1.1928_A1_DE_v5_signed and reconized the message device is not tooted.
I was not very clever and cofirmed the question "fix the root problem" I don't remember exactly the words. After that root was gone.
I've flashed the stock Fw G935FXXU1APD1_G935FDRE1APC3_DRE but I still have the message "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" after trying to root with CF auto root.
AP:G935FXXU1APD1
CP:G935FXXU1APD1
CSC:G935FDRE1APC3
Is there any way to get root again
Any help on how to fix would by greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Simply hold down Home + Power + Volume Down for 10-15 seconds - don't release when the phone initially reboots and gives the same error, keep them held down and download mode will appear. I have to hold for 11 seconds, a strangely unrounded number.
Hello Guys I have this Same issue Yesterday....... This happens when you flash outdated CF Autoroot. CF Autoroot Updated on 25/08/2016... Download it...
Fix for Stuck in Logo Screen
Just Click and Hold ...... Vol Down + Menu + Power Keys ...... DO NOT RELEASE. IT Will Restart. DONT release. It will restart again and you will be download mode.
i found this during the rooting process. its a bit different to older samsungs on the s7 / s7edge. YOU HAVE TO KEEP HOLD OF VOL DOWN + HOME + POWER until it enters download mode, which can be 20-25 seconds

Probably the Prince Cosmy edition.
Tried modded odin with the same result
have you tried button reset?
Make sure your Galaxy S8 is powered down.
Hold the Volume up, Bixby, and Power buttons at the same time, and keep them held down until you see the Samsung logo.
After 30 seconds, you should see the Android Recovery Menu. If your phone boots up as normal, try repeating the previous two steps.
Press the Volume down button four times, until Wipe data/Factory reset is highlighted. Select it using the Power button.
Press the Volume down button seven times until Yes — delete all user data is highlighted. Select it using the Power button, which triggers the reset process.
Once the factor reset is complete, press the Power button and select reboot system now.
