[Q] EE Wifi Calling (UK) - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an Galaxy S5 900F on EE but the WiFi calling option is not shown. After talking to EE, because my phone was purchased through a 3rd party (Carphone Warehouse) it doesn't come with EE's firmware. After spending loads of time reading, I understand that I cannot flash EE firmware onto my phone because the PIT is different to my generic one and it will not flash?
Does anyone have an EE PIT or any other option could help me please.
Thanks.

[Q] Do I need to unlock to use BTU firmware?

I recently purchased a Galaxy S4 i9505 on EE from Carphone Warehouse, and flashed the 5.0.1 BTU firmware. After I did that I then read I'd need to be carrier unlocked, but I tried calling and receiving calls and messages and using 4g and it worked fine. I also saw some posts about flashing modems. Anyway I'm really confused about what I need to do; should I try and unlock or not. Thanks everyone for your help.
The BTU firmware has no carrier branding, which means it has no carrier logos or bloatware included in it. Other than the lack of carrier doodads, it's the same firmware. You shouldn't need to flash a modem as you already have the latest, from when you installed the BTU ROM. However, the S4 would need to be unlocked for use on any carrier if your SIM isn't an EE SIM. But, you either have an EE SIM, in which case you don't need to worry about it, or the S4 was unlocked by the store that sold it, in which case you don't need to worry about it.
TL;DR: Don't touch the ROM. Don't worry too much about the SIM because you can make calls and use data. You don't need to flash a modem.

Samsung SM-A500FU reflashing firmware

Hello!
A week ago I got a Samsung Galaxy A5 as a gift from my wife. The phone is locked in Vodafone (Romania). I am using Telekom (Romania). I would want to unlock the phone from Vodafone and use it with my Telekom SIM card. Can anybody tell me whether reflashing Telekom (Romania) firmware via Odin is enough? Is it a risky procedure? Thanks!

Installing the firmware for another region or carrier will not unlock the phone. You must either order an unlock code or find a service center that has an unlock box, like z3x box or something of the sort.
Thank you for support.
i suggest u use unlockriver.com

Way too expensive!
Its locked but after the carrier agreement has expired, i think the unlock code is cheaper or even free.

What happens if I flashed another country firmware??

Suppose in the case I bricked my phone and I don't know the baseband version of it. Now what is the option to recover? Flash stock firmware via Odin but don't know the baseband??? What will happens if I flash another country stock firmware?? Will the phone hard brick?? Or it will work fine?? Thank you
The worst case is that your sim card will not work with that software. This is only if your phone is carrier locked.
If it is unlocked, or neverlocked as others put it, then you can flash any firmware you like, as long as it is for your respective phone model.

You should flash Nepal firmware then. It would give you better (more match) CSC code. The CSC (Consumer Software Customization) code contains the info about software packages specific to a particular region, carrier branding and also APN (Access Point Name) settings for data connection.
In my case, my S4 i9500 was made in Vietnam and when I received it, it had a Thailand firmware on it. It is a network unlocked phone. I live in USA. The first lollipop firmware came out was for Russia. So I flahsed the Russian firmware. My CSC showed that it is a russian phone. I used that phone on AT&T network that available in USA, China and Korea, and I had no problem.
Nothing will happen.
@sway8966
Are you really to suggest him to flash Nepali firmware on UK phone? I'll unlock it (the carrier-lock) first and then flash other countries' firmware if need.

Sorry to bump this up but im having problems with my s6 edge (Maybe because of this).
I recently acquired a phone from a relative from UK. The OS is android 7.0 and the carrier is three.co.uk (H3G), we have reset the phone to its factory settings and accidentally didnt noticed that it do auto update on the OS, then this bootloops starts to occur.
The phone isnt network-locked because the phone can receive signals, messages and phone calls on local sim.
Now upon browsing around SamMobile, There is an available Firmware for this mobile and even the firmware which is available to Philippines but only ver. 6.0.1
Is this possible to use the PH one or still i go to UK(h3g)?
help please
once i take the firmware from other countries and then i install to my phone,
does my phone will going to operate that firmware even if it come from another country
because i tried to find firmware according to my respective country unfortunately i missed it.
so please i need your assistance ..please

Has anyone got WiFi Calling to work on a 935FD dual Sim

OK, I flashed my G935FD dual sim with G935FXXU1BPH6_G935FVFG1BPH1_VOD ( I did AP BL CP CSC), it rebooted did a couple of OTA updates, has wifi calling enable, but still wont wifi call, or go into wifi calling mode.
After the flash and OTA's I checked the versions and have :
AP G935FXXS1BPJ1
CP G935FXXU1BPHJ
CSC G935FVFG1BPH1
this is exactly the same as my UK Vod shop purchased G935 single sim, which obviously does go into wifi calling mode
One minor point, my G935FD dual sim phone receives messages dfrom VOD after a sim change stating auto configuration of APN is not possible, is VOD UK still detecting my dual sim device and disabling wifi calling
any ideas anyone pls, has anyone got WiFi Calling to work on 935FD for Vodafone?
cheers
(oh, also tried G935FXXS1BPJ1_G935FDBT1BPH2_DBT.zip and didnt even have the wifi calling check box )
I have mine working on the att version

cool, I have heard from other ATT or UK EE users who have made this work easily, just no vodafone users
update here from me :
Having tried many roms, with no success, I reverted back to a UK VOD ROM, as this was a multi CSC ROM, which defaulted to VOD2 CSC (Germany I think), I rooted the device and changed the CSC to VFG (VOD UK I believe)
Still no wifi calling, though it is enabled in the CSC and onmy account I dont have the check box under phone settings -and have no idea how to force it to appear.
Any ideas pls, has anyone successfully got WiFi Calling to work for Vodafone (UK ??) on a 935FD ?

I am interested in getting a dual sim version of the s7 edge to use with EE in the UK. Could you please elaborate on compatibility with EE's wifi calling? Did you read about it in some forum? Do you know people who have tried it? Do you know exactly which versions are compatible (935FD, 930 , etc)? Thanks!

So you flashed a single-sim firmware (for G935F) onto a dual sim phone (G935FD) and it worked? Did you retain dual sim functionality?

Yes flashing firmware for the G935F retains Dual SIM functionality, mine is flashed with the BTU firmware as UK s7 version
@copex , thanks! Are you on EE? Have you had a chance to verify if wifi calling works?
Also, is there any particular way to flash the firmware with Odin? Or shall I just follow one of the many guides on the web?
I don't need to be rooted, right? I don't want to root because otherwise I won't have access to my work email.

I am on EE but via Plusnet mobile and they do not support wifi calling, i used Odin to flash the device as i changed the CSC to BTU i done a full wipe so i could get OTA updates, i followed the info here.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/official-stock-firmware-update-odin-t3335065
i used SamFirm_v0.3.6 to download the uk firmware

What do you mean exactly when you say you changed the CSC? When you ran Odin, did you load all 4 files: BL, AP, CP, CSC ? Specifically, did you load the CSC file or the Home_CSC file in the CSC box?
Thanks a lot!
On a different note, where were you able to buy a dual sim s8?... all the ones on Amazon come with a clear "no Warranty" disclaimer.
I am not sure dual sim S8s are out yet - we were talking about the s7 edge. These dual sim phones can typically be bought in countries like the United Arab Emirates or Hong Kong, or on ebay, but if you buy from there and bring the phone to Europe or the US it basically means no warranty. There are also lots of small websites that sell them, but I wouldn't even consider them unless they support the paypal guarantee - who are you going to sue if they don't send you your phone?

when you download the BTU firmware there are two CSC files one will allow the phone to update and keep the data and the other will wipe the phone and you will lose all of your data, when you change the CSC region you have to do a full wipe to get OTA updates, if you upgrade the OTA updates will stop if the CSC region is changed
you have to flash all 4 files.
the csc file i flashed was CSC_BTU_G935FBTU..................................... if i remember correctly the CSC_HOME............... is the one that updates the phone

SM-G950F International Version on T-Mobile US - VoLTE, WiFi Calling fix???

Does anyone know if I were to flash the latest Germany T-Mobile firmware (DTM) from Sammobile, would that enable VoLTE, WiFi Calling here in the US?
Currently my G950F S8 has the Australian (XSA) firmware installed and it doesn't have VoLTE or WiFi Calling.
The WiFi Calling setting in Quick Tile is greyed out.
When I ordered the phone in June 2017 it came with the Panama firmware on it. I was on AT&T back then and I flashed it to the Australian firmware so I could get Samsung Pay to work.
But Samsung Pay Australia wouldn't let me put in all my CC's, so I just use Google Pay now and I don't really care about Samsung Pay anymore.
Now that I'm on T-Mobile since March 2019, I feel that it's more important to get VoLTE and WiFi calling to work and since there are T-Mobile firmware's on Sammobile, I thought that maybe flashing to the German, Czech, or Polish T-Mobile firmware might fix things up. Hopefully someone out there has experimented with this and could give me some feedback.

If you are rooted, you can always flash a custom rom and then the ATT & TMO detonator.
I flashed HadesROM and chose TMO as my CSC. I am using wifi calling with TMO in the USA.
I am sure you can do something similar for TMO in Germany.
Other option is to use any other custom rom and then use the detonator package to change your CSC. Not 100% sure the detonator package will work with stock. You need to be rooted though.
