Hey guys. Recently updated to 4.3. I'm having a hard time finding the best method to root the phone :/
I cant find the proper guide. Some have custom recoveries installation some don't etc... Can somebody link me an XDA link? Since i don't rely on outside links (though they aren't that much risky).
I have the drivers all set up on my Win 8 PC. A link would be really helpful

Flash the flashable zip in the OP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
Has for recovery just get a recovery image and flash it using:
fastboot flash recovery [recovery image]
You HAVE to use this external link: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/mako/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-mako.img
You must have a unlocked bootloader for this to work.

yep,
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-mako.img

you don't root a nexus. unlock your bootloader (with fastboot installled and in fastboot mode, type "fastboot oem unlock")
then flash a revovery: fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-mako.img
after that you simply choose a rom + gapps and install them in the recovery. dont forget to factory reset.

Snap!, used the exact same URL.
What he wants is to just root the stock rom, not install a custom rom.

Hi guys im planning to buy this phone, can you tell me can i unlock bl on every lg g2 or?
And can you tell me more about rooting unlocking bl etc...Thanks in advice...
You can never unlock the bootloader technically but you can bypass its security using Loki though you have to downgrade from kitkat stock in order to do so. As you can see there's a thriving custom ROM community so this doesn't stop anyone, it just makes it more of a hassle initially if you're on KitKat.

Rooting can be done on any ROM but will trigger root detection if you root all the way. Flashing stock will cure that though.

Root is available for Kitkat on g2, just root your phone and install autorec app on your phone it will do everything for you.
It will unlock your bootloader, and replace it with old bootloader and also flashed a patched kernel and flash twrp recovery.

Wow guys that was so fast Thanks for reply, but can i "unlock" bl with loki when im on kk? And if i install autorec it will "unlock" itself or ?
Your international variant - d802 will work just fine : root + autored (for installing recovery) + if you want to install a custom rom.

I am new to Razr m i have a few question.
1. Is my device bootloader unlocked
In Fastboot I can see
Device is LOCKED. Status Code: 0
2. Are there any files of razr M that i have to backup first before attempting Unlock and root. I have S4 before buying razr M as my second devices in which i had to backup the efs partitions so that's why i need to know if some backup of razr M is needed.
3.Whats the latest official firmware of Razr M. Currently my device is on 4.1.2.
Thanks

How is 4.4.2 update compared to 4.1 because I have read some bad things about 4.4 update like poor battery life. Should I unlock the bootloader first and then update or unlock it after update.
Which custom rom u would recommend to use as daily driver for better performance.

You have to update to unlock the boot loader and yes my battery life took a significant hit. I installed app ops and then disabled allot of the security location and keep awake items and battery life was alright again. No idea if there is a good choice for a 4.4 rom on this device yet but cm11 is getting close.

Absolutely unlock the bootloader, absolutely upgrade to 4.4.2 , before the 4.4.4 update is live to all phones. If it is already available for you, manually flash 4.4.2 and use motopocolpyse to unlock the bootloader. You might never get the chance to unlock your boot loader again.

So there pushing 4.4.4 to the M... Where did you read this at... I was under the impression that the next ota was just going to be bug fixes and a security patch to block the root and unlock method

Bought this phone and unfortunately it was updated to the latest firmware. I've been searching for hours and everywhere with no luck. I was able to install root using KingRoot desktop method, but I can't get any recovery to work. I wanted to downgrade to KK to do Loki or the TWRP, but then I found out you can't downgrade. If anybody can guide me in the right direction, i would be very appreciative.
You really need to carefully read thru this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53758227. Yeah, I know it's long and can be complicated.
Safestrap is the only custom recovery they'll work for you
