For some reason, and I think it has been like this has been like this since I bought the G3 in September,
The facebook notification volume is not controlled by the notifications volume bar, but the ringer volume bar.
This is very annowing as I keep my ringer at a maximum volume and my notifications at medium volume, but the facebook notifications keep sounding really loud. Then I have to lower my ringer sound, but then my phone ringer is lower than I want as well.
Does anyone know of how I can get the facebook notification volume be controlled by the notifications navigation bar?
By the way, Im still using stock KitKat. Did not connect with the lollipop rom when it first came out.
Thanks,

Hi,
I searched the forums and found few threads for this windows mobile issue but no solution or what so ever.
Issue is with Overall Volume settings and controls.
I was previously an IPhone owner and i just recently moved to this amazing phone, however i do miss my Iphone for its few simplicity and user friendly setting options.
When my iphone was use to be in idle situation (not silent) and i use the volume rockers it use to change the ringer lever but it didnt change the media playback volume or in call earpiece volume. And When i was in a call, using the volume rockers would make adjustments to just the earpiece volume without changing any other volume setting. And when playing media it will just change the volume level for the media. This is a very natural behavior as we all would expect from our device.
But with my HD2 it gets really confusing and annoying at the same time that i dont have indivisual level of volume setting for in call, ringtone, and media playback.
I understand that we have the option to seprate the system/ringer volume level but still it doesnt work at it should.
I want to keep my ringer type/level to be at vibrate most of the time and my system to be at full or wtv level based on my preference at that time. But i want my phone to vibrate for text messeges and emails or wtv alerts i turn on. Just like how it was with iphone, if my phone was on silent(and vibrate setting on) my ringer wudnt sound and neither wud my text msges wud sound but my phone wud vibrate on text messages when vibration was turned on.
But with this phone if my ringer is at 0% volumes and system is anything above 0% my text messages wud vibrate and sound. how ever my text message sound should be attached to the ringer volume level not the system level volume.
Scenarios:
1).
System/ringer level same == no.
ringer level = 0%
system level = 50%
sms notification = on
In this above scenario if i receive a call my phone shud only vibrate and not sound. if i receive a text message it shud only vibrate but not sound. and if i play media it shud be at 50% level and my call volume shud be at 50% aswel.
But right now if i get a phone call my phone wud not ring but it will vibrate.(which is good). If i get a text message it sounds and vibrate (not good). media is at 50% level (good) and my call level is good aswell.
i am looking for a solution that would give me 2 things. First thing is to allow me to choose if i want vibration at all or no. And secondly make my notification attached to ringer volume instead of system volume.
i am sure alot of ppl are looking for this solution and would agree that this phone lacks volume settings and options.
thanks

Volume controls
Same gripe here..
Unable to get unilateral volume control on this magnificent phone.
Sometimes, its as if the smarter the phone, the dumber the remedial tasks can be.
Its not the perfect fix, but this is what I have mine set for.
Under Audio and display settings:
PROFILE: is set for normal
VOLUME:
ringer volume at zero
system volume at 50%
RING AND NOTIFICATIONS:
Ring type: Vibrate only
Notification Sounds: OFF on all..
That way, sms and email only display the green light on ear bar, rather then the chimes..
and music volume is adjustable without triggering the volumes back on..
Hope that helps.
You can choose to set independent settings for system and ringer volume control or set them up to be the same with the vol rocker keys. It is available in the settings.
Notifcation volume and ringtone volume as one!!
Sorry to be unlcear and previous firmware but i can only say what i remember, I got a new SGS and the firmware was 2.2 JPO
in that i could tick a box and it would make the notification volume be the same as my ringtone volume, yet with the firmware i upgraded (2.2.1 I9000XXJPU) the box is not available, so if i use the volume buttons on the side it only controls the ringtone, so if i want to turn my email/text notification down i have to go into settings/sounds/volume then change from within, just it would be so much easier if when i used the volume kieys on the side, if it changed both volumes!!
any fixes/ideas??
also with this new firmware the volume seems more quite, previously it was VERY loud, any way to change that, i already have it on full, unless i am just getting old
Many thanks!
Is it the phone having a low volume or are the notification sounds very quite?
I keep on missing notifications?
It's weird. I'm not talking about DND. Seems as though every time I put ringer on vibrate it reverts back to sound after a while. Same with the media volume. I don't get it?!?!?
Anyone seen experience same?

you sure you're putting RINGER on vibrate and not NOTIFICATIONS? they changed the volume controls in 5.x to make it "more difficult" to actually put your ringer on vibrate.
this has happened to me too. haven't figure it out yet, though. I'll put it in vibrate and a few minutes later will hear a text msg notification. Really inconvenient while in class and meetings. Ringer and notifications are linked in volume. if you go to sound and notifications settings it only shows media, alarm, and ring volumes.
Okay so hopefully someone here knows how to do this. Did some googling but couldnt find something specific. I link ringer and notification volumes.
Previously on android phones, when setting the ringer volume to Vibrate, my phone would vibrate for all notifications/calls, and media would be completely muted. Alarms would still play sound.
Now, when I set my ringer to vibrate, media will still play sound as if i didnt set the phone to vibrate. Alarms still function as expected. Do you know if there is a way for the phone to silence media as well when put in vibrate mode?
