I'm not a gamer, so I'm probably missing something obvious. Besides Badland, the LP 5.1 update also included two other games pre-installed from the TV Remote Games section of the Play Store. I'm "assuming" that TV Remote Games are those games that can be played with the "NP" remote. I was able to figured out how to play Badland, but for the life of me... I can't figure out how to play Shark Evolution using the NP remote. I also tried using my Logitech keyboard, but can't get any fishes move. What Am I doing wrong? I won't try Minion Rush yet as I'm afraid I'll end up throwing the NP remote to TV screen.
Minion Rush works fine with the NP remote. Very easy to figure out, left is left, right is right ?

How about Shark Evolution? Does that work for you with the NP remote?

Shark Evolution requires a game pad. It is in the wrong row in the play store. The play store makes you think it will work with the NP remote but it doesn't. When you go to install it, it says that you been a game pad.

Coo! is Splashtop 2 a subscription based app or Free? Client itself is free, right? i had purchased Splashtop HD for my N7, but Play store says it's not compatible with my Shield
Splashtop 2 is free. It is available on the Google Play store and is compatible with the shield. If you are not able to get it from the Google Play store, I am sure you can get it online somewhere(the .apk). If you need any help with it, you can send me a pm or just leave a reply to this post. Wanted to start with saying that i've been using Ouya from all my retro needs from 6 months now, the main use for the ouya has been the Xbmc support but i occasionally play FPse, MUPEN and GSNES. I was even brave enough to try the gamestick for a week before returning it to gamestop and using the credit to purchase addiontional Ouya. Recently purchased a mojo and was really looking forward to finding out if the ps1 games would run quicker, if xbmc would run smoother when im jumping around a movie looking for favorite scenes (i use 1080p DTS files that are 10GB+ not those low bitrate YIFY files) and thought it would be awesome if i could finally connect more than one ps3 controller and even an Xbox 360 controller. A huge downfall and prehaps a dealbreaker has been the navigation soft keys that appear in most of my applications, i know this isnt completely mojos fault (i blame you google) but im really hoping they release 4.4 kitkat real soon which adds immersive mode and hides the navigation soft keys when a game or movie thats using full screen. its extremely annoying that the navigation soft keys appear when im trying to watch a 1080p movie using XBMC v13 beta1/beta2, i even went as far as to install the Ouya version of xbmc hoping that would work but it didnt. I found two applications that can hide the navigation soft keys like GMD AutoHide and full!screen but both require root, i will root my device once my usb a to a cable arrives but i feel its insane that i need to root my device just so i can hide some keys that shouldnt be there to begin with (seriously madcatz why did you need those keys visible when the controler had home and back keys). if the experience doesnt improve by using one of those two apps than im going to return the Mojo. Please reply if you have any suggestions that wouldnt require rooting my device to remove the navigation keys.

Thanks for the suggestion but I should have added that all my content is on a synology 1812+ so I can't simply connect it through USB. I guess I could setup a nas connection using ez file manager and have MX player play the files but that is a ridiculous way to play movies. I wanted this box to replace my living room ouya but so far its looking like this box is going back to Amazon.
Rooted the mojo makes the console way better. So I would definitely do that.
I also came from the ouya and honestly would have stuck with it if wasn't for the fact of no play store. I like the mojo since it's basically android and can customize it it to my liking.
Anyway I would highly recommend rooting the mojo and using the play store mod. Then use that app to hide what you want and enjoy just how better the mojo is.

It's odd that xbmc doesn't have a setting for making movies full screen. The Netflix app, Hulu+ app, and quite a few others I use regularly occupy the entire screen during play back.

I read that some applications, mostly the ones you named used tricks to achieve becoming full screen apps.

The ouya can obtain the play store once you root it, guess its similar to the mojo that modifying is required before making the device worthwhile.

Thank you for that, when i get my M.O.J.O. back i will install this version.
My M.O.J.O. whas freezing everytime, and was getting very hot, so sent it back for repair.
After days of tweaking my brand new Amazon Fire TV to run XBMC. It's finally complete! I just finished installing Google Play Store. I installed a Custom XBMC Gotham 3.2 build. I installed Xbmchub's addons and settings ontop of that. FiredTV launcher. I set XBMC to launch when Amazon Fire TV starts up and by hitting the home button. Custom Splash and Wallpaper backgrounds. I'm so excited!
I'm familiar with XBMC from my pc and my G-Box MX2 android box but I'm loving this new Amazon Fire TV. It took sometime to figure out some stuff because I was not used to using adb and rooting devices so it was new to me.
I might uninstall the FiredTV launch screen. Don't really need it with XBMC starting right up now without having to go through the Amazon menu>Settings>Apps>XBMC.
I was having some buffering issues with running off of wifi so I wired the box last night. Video plays great now with no buffering issues.
Thanks to everyone for all of your hard work in customizing this great little machine!
I read about some people asking about Showbox on Fire TV. I sideloaded the apk for Showbox. The app itself works fine. You need a mouse to use it. Video play isn't working too good. I'm using an external player MX Player.
The app really isn't necessary if you have good add ons for XBMC. It's pretty pointless.
I also sideloaded Vudu onto the Amazon Fire TV. Vudu works great! But only allows you to watch movies in SD quality.
I installed the Chrome Beta web browser from Google Play. This way you can download and install .apks without having to sideload them.
I'm not an expert at this stuff but just sharing my experiences.

I use the media player that comes bundled in with EStrongs File Explorer when SB asks which external player to use.. Works perfectly every time.

In the midst of tweaking mine I found having moviebox on my ipad and just airplaying it solved all my content needs with nary a tweak. I don't even really need to keep root now.

Do u have google play store on your fire tv? u trief installing the .apk file? I read that some apps from the play store just arent compatible with the fire tv. Not sure whar else you can do?
I tried to install Pandora as an Xbmc add on but it wouldnt work for me. iheart radio worked fine. Spotigly is a good one.

I tried to load a modded version of Pandora a while back but I remember I had some problem with it. I don't remember if it would force close or if I couldn't get past the login screen.. Could you provide more info on what you have loaded?

The Google Play app searches for apps that are flagged with the Android TV/controller compatibility so what you see when you search is it. It's a bit sparse but there's some good ones on there.
Some apps have Android TV counterparts specifically made for controller or shield TV, which isn't a great thing. Nice that they specifically support our device, but not nice that if you've already purchased it on mobile you'll have to purchase it again for TV. Skyforce being the first one I've come across with this, which is an excellent game.
I also have done side loaded apps for Nvidia Sheild T.v.
I am looking for a place to see the list of all android games (+ sideload) working on this nVidia Shield TV. Is there any site or place to see this list?
So I tried some games Angry Birds Go & Table Top Racing and it seems I cant get to play those without mouse. :crying: Any other options out there?
you could install droidmote and play those games with the shield remote if you like
Better is you install the Full Android Rom and you can act with the shield like a normal PC. No need for sideload and with DroidMote or Bluetooth Mouse everything should work
then you need mouse and keyboard
For playing games a mouse is good and you can also use the controller tethered to the mobile or buy a 3rd party controller

That's the only you can do by try and error. When I will get my TV back from repair I will also test some games and report here
