Touch screen doesn't work properly after encrypting screen - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
I have a Nexus 4 encrypted. I just changed my screen, but something weird happens now.
This is whats happens with my phone:
1. I turn it on
2. I get to the encryption screen. I put my pattern (The screen works normal here)
3. I get to android, but I cannot write my pattern. I have to touch with one finger in any random place in the screen, so with other finger I put the patter in.
Fron now on, the phone works ok as long as I touch the screen with another finger first. It's really anoying, it's like it doesn't detects the first touch but it does the second one...
Any ideas why this may happen?
Thank you all

My touch screen has been freezing up alot

. When I'm in an app my touch screen will freeze, no input works but my screen rotation does. When I rotate my screen my input will work again or if I wait about 30 sec or more the input will unfreeze by itself. This is happening alot and its really irritating me. I have an unlocked unit (from the store) rooted. I tried to "fix permissions" but ROM manager says "an error occurred while attempting to run privileged command".
Also I cannot sync with Kies (latest) and cannot sync with Samsung account in the "account sync" in system. Any ideas and thought are helpful. Thanks.
Are you by any chance touching the screen with your other hand? I've done that a couple of times by mistake, and that will prevent the touch screen from recognizing other touches. You can touch the bezel, but not the screen itself. One reason the screen might work adter rotation is that you are moving your hands as you turn the screen. If this is not the case, please disregard my comment.

I don't think I understand. I hold the bezel with my left hand. So you think that my left hand (the one holding the bezel) is being recognized without my knowing and this is not letting my right hand inputs get recognized? Hmmmm I will have to see this, makes sense because sometimes I get a pop up menu because my left hand thumb has accidentally touched the screen. Thanks, I will keep this in mind.

Touch sometimes not working when screen on

Hi so I have this problem where sometimes (1 out of 4 times) when I turn on the screen the touch screen screws up. Like when you touch it it's like the screen is detecting another point of contact somewhere else on the screen. It's kind of hard to explain. So when that happens I have to turn the screen off and turn it back on so that it works again
Is this normal?
Thanks

Had this problem on my old Xperia S. Try to clean the screen. If not, factory reset.

[HELP] Unresponsive band of screen on D800 stock Lollipop.

Hi guys, I have experienced a number of screen relates issues on my D800 since the Lollipop upgrade. I am pure stock, took the upgrade OTA from ATT.
1. Knock on stopped working. Knock off works OK. I tried all of the suggestions online, update touch firmware, etc. but still no help. This is no big deal since I can use the back button to wake up the phone.
2. I noticed scrolling was unresponsive in Chrome but ignored it because I thought it might be me.
3. I was out and on the phone and I noticed I could not hear her well all of a sudden and then the call got disconnected. I tried to put my PIN in to unlock the phone but that area of the screen was totally unresponsive to touch. I could enter the numbers in the second row of the grid but there is a 1 in my pin and that would not register. I restarted a bunch of times which I had to do only with buttons because I could not click 'OK' on the screen to confirm the restart. I got a screen on the phone saying my screen was unresponsive and this is how to answer calls only with the buttons etc.
I got home and used by OTG mouse connection to enter my pin and navigate the phone. I did a factory reset which I had never done before. The responsiveness seems better now. There seems to be one section of the screen that is unresponsive, right near the middle. I can't click on any of the icons in the second row from the bottom. I can get to the notification shade which I don't think I could do before.
I am attaching an image of a memo where I just ran my finger up and down the screen without lifting it. You can see the dead area.
Has anyone had this problem or knows of any solution? Thanks very much.

I just RMA'd it. It probably is the same problem you had but I am pretty sure I am still under warranty so I just sent it in.

E-ink Lock Screen

Hello everyone,
So, I'm having a bit of a strange problem with my Yotaphone 2...
I did a factory reset on it a while back, and everything went fine, except now, when the screen is locked, I can no longer unlock the e-ink screen by dragging up the lock icon on the bottom of the e-ink screen. I have to use the hardware power button, which is a little bit inconvenient at times. I've spent quite a while trying to locate what setting got effected to make it not function, but with no luck. Anybody have any idea where I can turn this function back on?
It happened to me too, I think it was something related with the Lollypop update, but could be some setting that has changed and that I cannot find. However, I found that if I double tap before tracing the finger motion, it usually works. That's why I didn't look further into the issue.

Actually, scratch that... after your double tap suggestion, I started randomly tapping around managed just once to get it to unlock from a screen touch, but have not been able to replicate the movement so it happens again. What movement exactly do you use to get it to unlock?
Update:
Seems to be some kind of sensitivity issue. I can get it to unlock about once out of every 50 swipes. Less than ideal.
I leave the phone with the E-ink screen facing up (to prevent the gyroscope from switching sensitivity to the amoled display instead), then press twice the lock icon, and on the second time my finger touches the E-ink, I drag it up to the center of the phone. It took a bit of practice but now I can get it to work consistently. The double tap is because if the phone has been inactive for a while, it enters sleep mode, and it looks like that turns off the finger gesture recognition. Other possible explanations are that maybe you don't press the screen firmly enough, or maybe you placed some plastic sheet over the back display and that reduces sensitivity.
I noticed that the unlock gestures on the EPD work only when the phone recognizes that you've it in the hand or you're using it. So I take it and I unlock it effectively. Trying to unlock when it lays down and you haven't moved it for a while brings to your experience.
Thanks to both of you for the advice... unfortunately, neither seems to be doing the trick. Just a caution for any other people who are thinking of doing a factory reset - it seems to seriously impact sensitivity for the e-ink unlock, so be aware.
I never succeed to do slide up unlock even within 1st tutorial. Double tap unlock was the only workaround for me. Also activated glove sensitivity mode.

Touch Issue with Lenovo Z2 plus

Hi
I am using lenovo Z2 plus an have been encountering problem with touch not working. The touch works for 1 second after unlocking the phone and then stops automatically. I have tried resetting the phone, installing new custom roms but in all cases touch works for some time after unlocking and then stops working. Any suggestions on what to do?
Hey guys, is there anyone who can suggest me what to do? Would really appreciate some help
I guess touch display is broken. I had the same problem after a slight drop. Screen was perfectly ok but touch was broken. I replaced the whole screen since it was easier method

I'm facing the same problem right now.
Is it working for you now? Help me fix this.
I had same problem. I found a temporary solution some where-
1. Lock phone screen.
2. Put your right thumb anywhere on screen and keep it there.
3. Now unlock your screen with right hand fingers, dont lift your left thumb from screen.
4. As long as your left thumb is on screen, it will respond normally, it ayou lift your left thumb, screen will freeze and you have to repeat all avobe steps.
I know this is very annoying, but something is better than nothing.
Well my phone screen touch worked normally itself within 1 month without any repair.

I'm not facing this problem anymore. But, touch doesn't work on top of the screen.
I did whatever you told, yet it doesn't work. Is there a solution for this?
