Loving the nexus6 - Nexus 6 General

just bought an unlocked nexus6 from google play. Cut down my sim and vola! full functionality on verizon. what surprised me though, it is the same physical dimensions as my note 2, just a lot more screen and no physical buttons. So I feel right at home. I am having ADD trying to figure out which rom to go with... but that is part of the fun. For those who are wondering, i can go back and forth between the two on verizon just moving the sim card. Nice having that option now.
Now off to play with roms. :cyclops:

I'm also looking to get a N6 from Google Play and activate on VZN. I currently have the Note 3 which was purchased as a subsidized phone on Verizon almost 1.5 years ago. I'm eligible now to upgrade early via the "Edge" program, but I'd prefer a 64GB N6 vice the current 32GB model that VZN sells.
The problem is that any N6 not purchased directly through Verizon will show up as a "non-Verizon device" on your account, even if you cut down your current sim card to activate the N6. The N6 will still work just fine on Verizon's network, but if the N6 is the "primary" phone on the account (which mine is), you won't be able to make any changes to your account, nor be able to receive any month to month discounts if previously qualified. Not sure why Verizon won't whitelist the IMEI numbers from all phone's purchased directly from Google or Motorola?? I'm hoping that Verizon will eventually start carrying the 64GB version of the N6, but I'm not holding my breath.

However, mine is showing up as Verizon Wireless Nexus 6. I think that only applied if you ordered anywhere else but google play store. Mine is a business account so that may be the difference.

RE: Loving the nexus 6
Hi,
This was a very enlightening post for me, so thank you! Admittedly, I've not been paying much attention to SIM cards and how everything works for quite awhile... hearing that one could literally cut a SIM card to a nano SIM card size was shocking news!
Could you confirm my thinking here based upon your post:
1. I have a business-provided Samsung Galaxy S4 with Verizon Wireless
2. It has the regular SIM card in it.
3. I can go buy a Nexus 6 unlocked from the Google Play store.
4. I can cut my current SIM card into the nano size
5. When I stick my newly trimmed SIM card into the new Nexus 6, it will work
Is that correct? And also, will my Nexus 6 actually work in all areas: voice, data, texts, Internet, etc.?
Thank you!

Uhm, not to contradict the guy who posted before me, BUT, if you have a *regular* sim card, then there are two possible contact pad layouts; 6 contact points, and 8 contact points. On cards with 8 contact points, two actually don't do anything (well, actually FOUR don't do anything), HOWEVER, the pad will be physically larger to make space for those extra two points -- bigger than a nano-sim altogether. If you try to cut through the pads, even if they are not connected pads, you WILL destroy the card. Before you start trimming, make sure that the target size is still big enough that you don't need to cut through the pads.
When you are trimming, I do NOT recommend scissors, because they tend to TWIST the material you are cutting. If you twist the sim card at all, you can crack the card internally (kill it). A good way to trim it is to use a razor sharp knife, like a drywall knife (http://www.amazon.ca/Olfa-5003-Ratchet-Heavy-Duty-Utility/dp/B0006SJAR0) on an anvil or table or other very smooth metal surface with a sharp corner. Place the sim card contact pad facing UP (so you can see where you are cutting) on the anvil at the anvil's corner, and cut with the knife along the corner and perpendicular to the sim card. The anvil corner will both guide the blade, and support the sim card to keep it from bending. It can be easier to take off multiple narrow slices. If you only take off a thin slice, that thin slice will yield much more easily to the blade, allowing it to cut easier, and applying less stress on the part of the card you want to save.

On a Nexus device, I always find it a lot more useful to add repairs on to the factory sysimage. It ends up giving you all the added features you want, without suffering the instability inherent in some hacked together mess that somebody made during his spare time. It is also important to note that the hacker/developer who maintains that image doesn't have the same objectives in mind as you do. So he may focus on a whole set of things that HE wants to work perfectly, meanwhile the thing you need, that is totally broken, stays broken forever.

yea... i need to learn how to do that. I have gotten so used to using Xposed.... I am lost without it. Running alpha2, but it is a big hit or miss.

i bought a nano sim cutter for bout $8 from amazon that worked beautifully. Also came adapters so i could put it back in my note 2 if needed.

Sure, there are some roms that aren't as stable as stock, but there are some that are very good and work wonderfully. I always install the factory image from scratch, get it all set up the way I want, then do a full image backup via TWRP. Then I go about playing with roms. No harm, no foul.
You are being a bit harsh on the devs who work hard on their roms. You just have to find the right one. If you don't like roms that's fine, but you are not going to talk anyone out of installing them just because you don't use them.

Thank you all for your responses. So just one follow-up question to me asking "Will it work?"
So after I trim my Verizon SIM card, everyone says that I should be able to pop it in and the phone will work (Internet, voice, data, blah blah blah.) Okay, great. BUT... will I have to call Verizon and have the phone activated or anything like that?

That's very interesting! You're the first one I've heard so far who was able to activate a non-verizon N6 with a currently activated, cut down VZN sim and NOT have it show up on your account as a "non-Verizon device." Up to this point if the N6's IMEI number did not start with 99 (strictly Verizon-branded phones), it would not show as a Verizon device.
There's a rumor that Verizon may start white-listing only the IMEI numbers of N6's coming direct from Google Play only. I guess you're one of the lucky ones!

So long as you trim the sim card properly and don't break it. Once you put the sim card in it should just activate. Calling in should not be necessary

Getting ready

So I bit the bullet and leaped onboard after it seems the AT&T Threat Data letters have ceased. I am going from my iphone 4 to the Note (Cant wait!). It will be here tomorrow.
Should I look for anything except my microsim to sim adaptor plug and play?
Has the imei problem been rearing its head or should I go without a hitch?
Have read here that you no longer need to do anything with APN's. True?
Just want to be prepared for everything that could happen tomorrow, to make it a seemless transition to this beauty.
Thanks in Advance and Happy Holidays to Everyone!
Put your SIM in, enter APN settings (google AT&T APN settings) and go from there.
If you get a text, email AT&T by googling the executive office's email. Professionally state your case that your Note is a smartphone and not a tablet and they should fix you up.
If I were you, I would go to my local AT&T store and have them issue you a standard
sims card (no charge for this, although your IPhone will not be active). Their have been reports of these adaptors getting stuck in the Note's sim slot and damaging the
Phone. I didn't want to take the chance.

I would agree a new sim would prbably be safeer, however I would hate to get caught up in a snafu of a blockage problem having to deal with someone else who may not be informed that it is a phone, hence causing a bigger headache.
Has anyone had problems with the microsim to sim adaptor? I could not find any issues.

Congratulation on your new Note! Welcome to the family!
As for the IMEI issue, I would just lift the IMEI (enter *#06# in dialer) from another Samsung display device at the AT&T store (like an SGS2 or Infuse 4G, something that ISN'T LTE!) and call in to customer care stating that you are upgrading your device to -insert type of device you got IMEI from store- and give them that IMEI. Switch your iPhone unlimited plan to "Smartphone Unlimited" plan (they cost the same). At this point you should be able to put your new SIM card into your Note and off you go! Not only will this prevent you from running into any IMEI related issues, but your data speeds should noticeably increase on HSPA+
You still need to add APN to your device for its data to work though. Like Eric said earlier, it's very easy just to Google those. There are basically two APN's that will work:
"Phone" and "wap.cingular"
The Phone APN is the newer one and may run faster than wap.cingular, but I'm pretty sure AT&T has started throttling that once you reach a certain data threshold, so honestly it's just better to stick with wap.cingular
Also, you might want to disable Fast Dormancy for the best network results. This is a feature enabled by default on the Note which AT&T does not support, and it only serves to drain your battery and make your data connection erratic. You can disable it by going to *#*#9900#*#* from your dialer.
Let's see, what other quick tips can I think of to make the experience that much better... Oh, yes! Replace your homescreen launcher with something other than TouchWiz (because it sucks). I recommend ADW ex (because it is highly customizable and lightweight), or if you really want to be fancy, and are willing to dish out a couple bucks, use SPB Shell 3D. I like this one personally. Even though it isn't as customizable as other launchers, it uses native 3D acceleration to make the whole experience buttery smooth.
Also, get Google music, and on your PC, point the downloader to your iTunes directory. Let it do its thing, and low and behold, you have all your iTunes on your Note (and in the cloud!) just like that! Easy peasy!
Finally, don't be shy! Ask us questions! Community support and development is Android's greatest asset!
Jade, thanks for all that info!! The IMEI is device specific though, if going into a store and "lifting" would'nt it already be in their system as their demo? Also the switch from iphone dataplan to Smartphone data plan, will that increase the data by that much? Never heard of the "fast dormancy issue" but will definitely look into that.

I believe some IMEI's were transposed (accidentally) as tablets.
So, if you get a text about using a tablet, contact AT&T and explain its a smartphone.

[Q] Cut down Very old normal SIM down to MICRO SIM -> Damage Sim Slot?

Hey,
I earlier cut down my very old, like 6 or more years old SIM card down to a Micro SIM.
When i inserted it in the Nexus 4 there was some kind of resistance but it fit in.
Unfortunately the cutting didnt work so i had to get a new Micro Sim eventually from my mobile phone provider.
When i took out the old , cut-down-SIM i also had to press comparatively strong with the ejection tool to get the SIM-Tray to pop out.
Now when i compare the thicknes of my old SIM and the new MICRO SIM, the MICRO SIM seems to be thinner.
Is it possible that i damaged the SIM-Card Slot?
If yes , how would i realize this?
Thanks for your help!
"When i inserted it in the Nexus 4 there was some kind of resistance but it fit in."
next time I would suggest to use sand paper to smooth the edges so that it can be easier fitting in. Thats what I did when i cut my SIM. works perfectly now.
It is possible that your sim slot has a light damaged.
You could realize it this way:
if you are using a regular MICRO-SIM, and if your phone sometimes searching for SIM card, it means the MICROSIM is too loose inside the slot and probably because of the damage.
Send the phone to me and i'll fix it
You may not get it back though

Ok, thanks for your help!
I did indeed sand the edges until the card itself fit perfectly without any tolerance into the tray.
checked on wikipedia and obviously all the simcards , micro, mini, should be 76mm in thickness (only nano being thinner)...dont know where that slight resistance came from. Funnily though that the new MICRO is from a left and right moving/tolerance perspective (width and height) has some little tolerance i could let it practically fall into the tray. however i think left/right movement should be no problem, more if the card doesnt touch the contacts within the phone at all i guess?
I'm upgrading my GNex to the N4 when it comes in the mail. Never had to cut a SIM before, but looks like I'm about to learn how
[Q] Are all SIM cutters created equal? Any particular model better than the rest? I see a few on amazon for less than 5 bucks, but I'm only going to get one shot at this and want to get it right the first time. Of course I'm researching around, but thought I'd come here first. Thanks in advance.

True. TMobile will give just about anyone a free SIM. The trouble is getting my account (prepaid) moved from one SIM to the other without them screwing up my $30 / month unlimited data plan. That, and I don't think they offer this service to prepaid customers. Heck, I've never even been to the TMo store...I got the phone direct from Google and activated it with a SIM activation kit online. I thought the easy route would be to just cut the SIM I have. Seems simple enough, but I've never cut my own before. Can anyone recommend a certain brand / model sim cutter (or one to avoid)? Thanks.
I got the Noosy 2nd generation SIM cutter from Amazon for like $9. Easy to cut and fit into the Nexus 4 with no problems.

A microsim card on t-mobile/ATT is only 99 cents more... And free if you are on contract...
Additionally, 6 year old sims are unlikely to support 4G data service, at least not very well. I don't understand why people are confused when they have terrible speeds or a broken sim tray after they spend time cutting their own sim, even buying a cutter when you could just buy a microsim for $9.99. It's common sense. Just get the right part, don't cheap out on a $400 device. T_T
It's really just simple logic. Do you guys really not have $10 to just get a microsim from your carrier? It will work so much better and be so much easier.

Once my N4 arrives, I'll go with that option. As long as I can be assured the microsim AT&T gives me supports the speeds, I'll take it. I think their only official microsim device is the iPhone 5, isn't it? So they should have an LTE-capable microsim card...
iphone 5 uses a nanosim. As long as you get a recent microsim, you should be able to access the network and get HSPA speeds.
I was thinking of doing that but the only sims I have are from dumb tracfones can they be cut down and used with the Nexus 4?

Right! I thought I was wrong on that one, a few minutes after I wrote it... but then again, if it's as you say, I should have no trouble once I request a microsim at AT&T - I have a minisim right now that came with my Skyrocket.
Or you could not do that and spend the same amount of money on a micro Sim as a Sim cutter. Seriously. Its a scam, they sell the Sim cutters for the same price as the Sim card itself, I can't believe people really fall for this.
Go America.

Verizon BS - Typical

So I had my Nexus 6 delivered today, the open version ordered from Google. Went in to Verizon to have them switch over my sim (I had a larger sim with my LG G3, so had to get a smaller sim), and after 45 minutes of back and forth, they refused to put the device on their network because as they say "We have a Nexus 6 device already on our network, so you can purchase it from us". That was my official answer given to me from them. We tried two different technicians, managers, etc, and they downright refused.
I'm over this crap with them, spent my entire lunch hour doing this, dealing with getting the device after it wasn't able to be delivered to my address, multiple trips to the local fedex office.. The second I can cancel my account with them, I'm out.
If you have Verizon and want to order one of these, you'll have to order their blue piece of crap (I wanted the white version) and the only phone on for any of the networks that wont work elsewhere.

You can get it working. Read this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/how-to-verizon-nano-sim-nexus-6-t2944308
My personal experience here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57564205&postcount=99
I guess things are hit or miss at Verizon. When the store couldn't help me I had them call Technical Support, tech support assigned a nano sim from the store to a dummy IMEI number and activated it on my account. Took them 10 minutes to do what the store couldn't figure out in an hour. They have dummy IMEI's, just have to reach someone that knows what they are doing...

there are a gazillion post on this topic. You can cut down your G3's SIM card and use it - SIM cutters are cheap on Amazon.
Or you can order a nano SIM card from Verizon - you can tell them you are buying a used S6 and they will mail you one. Then when it arrives, all you need is the IMEI of a Verizon Android device that takes a nano SIM card and you can have a chat rep activate the nano SIM they send you using that IMEI. You can usually find someone who posted a picture of a box with an IMEI on it - Moto X will work as will S6, M8, M9, but not iPhones, those are different nano SIMs.
Or if you know anyone on Verizon who has an Android that uses a nano SIM card, you can suspend their line w/o billing temporarily to free up their phone to use it to activate the nano SIM on your line. Then when you have done that, you pop the nano SIM in your N6 and then they can put their SIM card back in their device and unsuspend their line.
I always have two Verizon sim cards stored in case the next phone I get uses a different sim card size. They're easy to get by contacting a VZW rep or ordering one online from some seller for cheap. Activating them through chat is easy. You can also activate it yourself by switching your device through My Verizon, but since the Google Play version isn't a Verizon IMEI, that option won't work. I avoid having to go deal with VZW reps in person

I'd have to second this. I had a 2014 Moto X and just swapped the SIM with no issues. However, I think they easiest thing for you to do would be to order a cheap SIM cutter. Amazon.com - Aerb SIM Cutter
You could have saved yourself time and frustration by simply reading one of the dozens of threads that already explain this very issue. Nice to have another Verizon thread though /s

Equally as helpful your response I presume, original as it may be But I appreciate your input all the same being that it's a public forum and all.
Yes you can cut the micro sim to nano sim as many people here said, but if i was you i cut verizon first for that kind of service. dont' know about other carriers, but with ATT the last few months i can just drop in their store and changed sim 3 times (2 for me and one for my brother) as i changed phone from iphone to inew v8 to oneplus and last week to nexus. Never has a problem and no charge. In and out in about 15 min for them to activate the imei in their system with new sim
I have sprint. I went into a sprint store with a n6 I ordered from Motorola directly. They got a nano Sim, activated my device and didn't even charge me a penny. I had Verizon but canceled both lines I had with them because of customer service. I broke contracts on both lines.

The easiest thing to do when a Sim card is too big is.....? That's right, cut it. I did that with many phones. Had the note 4 and wanted to switch to a white 64gb nexus 6 from the play store and just popped in the Sim from my Note 4 and it worked without having to do anything. Yes on the my Verizon mobile app it says "non Verizon device" and that alters my life in exactly zero ways.

Going in to a store to have them change out your sim card is a waste of time. Even if you happen to have a sane service provider who won't give you a hard time. Why? Because it is a waste of time. If you don't have a drywall knife (some call them "box cutters" or "utility knives"), go to home depot and buy one, then trim the plastic off from around the contact pad until it fits the phone. (note: take off multiple THIN slices so you don't stress the chip).

[Q] Verizon grandfathered unlimited data plan.. S4 to Moto X Pure switch questions?

Hey everybody, I have a few questions regarding the new Moto X pure., this seems like an awesome site and I'm excited to be part of the community. I have been reading through the forums and doing some research, I'm just looking for some clarification.
Some background info: grandfathered in with an unlimited data plan from Verizon. Been using an S4 for the past couple years (full retail), it is not rooted, FoxFi for tethering. Main uses for phone are pictures, phone stuff (calls/texts), games, and tethering.
The moto x pure seems like a perfect fit. Sounds like foxfi doesn't work with motorola. I know that speculating on being able to root is a tough subject but things sound promising.
Questions:
How does one transfer current phone data and plan to the newly purchased moto x pure? Should moto x pure be rooted first?
What is a good tethering app?
How does one keep phone "simple", driving factor for rooting is to gain ability to tether?
If phone has ability for external storage, why would people want >16GB?
Lastly, how sweet is that bamboo back gonna look?!?! Wonder if you could woodburn some designs in there?
Thanks again, appreciate any response.
I'm in the same boat as you, (upgrading from Verizon Galaxy S4) but unfortunately I lost my unlimited data plan already because of someone else on the account.
Anyway, you can keep the unlimited data plan very easily. The only thing you need to do to get Verizon service on your new Moto X Pure is get a working Verizon nano sim card, and you can do this two ways.
1. This option is great because you don't have to deal with Verizon at all. You take your micro sim card from your S4, cut it along the edges, and transform it into nano sim card. I know this sounds risky, but there are countless tutorials on how to do this, and there are even cutters you can buy on Amazon for about $4 that will cut it perfectly. Further, the only information on the sim card that needs to be read by the phone is in the very center, so there is room for some error.
2. You can call Verizon customer service or go to a store and ask for a new nano sim. Just don't talk to them about changing plans and you will be able to get a free nano sim and keep your data plan.
I have some high confidence that someone is going to root this Moto X fairly easily. We already have an unlocked bootloader, and that has made some methods possible that we could probably achieve root with. But you do not need to root it first. I'm going to play around with stock android and see how long I can live without root. (I'll probably give up in the first month XD)
As for tethering options, I remember reading somewhere on this forum that Motorola was going to add a native option. Whether the app is free to use or not has yet to be determined, but if all else fails, I use Barnacle Wifi Tethering and it is very consistent.
Your Moto X will be "simple" out of the box. That is one of the selling points. It's not gonna have touchwiz or any other unwanted skins, but it'll be pure android (hence the "Moto X Pure"). Further, the Moto X is being sold directly to consumers so the carriers can't get their mitts on it and load it up with bloatware. So as long as you don't download too many apps, your phone will be simple and fast.
Internal storage: You're right, 16GB and a microsd card slot will be sufficient for many users. I was considering this option as well. However, I have a 64GB microsd, which I keep over 45GB of music on and I don't want anything else on the card. So I bought a 32GB phone, which I'll keep apps, photos, and videos on, while the card will hold all of my music. It's all about personal preference.
BTW, android Marshmallow (the new android release coming this Fall) will allow the microsd card to be considered apart of the phone storage. So you can put anything on it that you would on your phone's storage. Buying a 16GB phone and a 64GB/ 128GB microsd card can definitely save people money!
I don't know anything about the bamboo or other wood designs, I got black leather with champagne accents. So excited, haha.
Spike 96, I want to thank for this info! I'm new to this forum and have the same exact issue... I've been with Verizon with unlimited data plan for a long time. Got this new Moto XPU from BB store. Now is there a sequence to set this unit? Or simply cut the Micro SIM to Nano SIM, put in the Moto X, turn it on and set?
Your response would be greatly appreciated!
Use a cutting tool. They have one in most of the T-Mobile stores in the area, not sure about Verizon stores, but they should. Go in ask if they have a sim cutter and if you can use it.

I highly advise against cutting down a SIM, especially since we have a SIM tray and not a slot, too many jams and breakage issues.
Go to the local T-Mobile or Verizon store, whichever is applicable, and have them transfer your number to a real nano SIM.
There are plenty of referenced out there as to why you should never do this a quick Google search will find, including it could compromise your warranty... Apple was kind of famous for this, and there is no reason that Moto couldn't consider this "abuse" as well (although I have no point of reference for that statement). Also note that very old full size SIMs can have stuff in them beyond the edges of the 4FF SIM size.

I want to thank you for an advice. I ordered one from amazon and work on that. Verizon blocked users like me from getting a new Nano SIM, I would be very surprise if they let me use the tool to cut it... Problem is with new unit and new Nano is that Verizon will not activate it on old grandfathered unlimited plan. Based on conversation with Verizon rep, that plan is coded different and new Moto XPE thru new Nano would coded differently. To me it's clean talk, Verizon doesn't want to have new, better and faster phones on old unlimited plan because I would burning their data...
I will try cutting the SIM. Thanks again!

You should do some Googling... Lots of people have gotten nano Sims on unlimited data plans, but your call. Good luck and enjoy your new phone
I have grandfather unlimited data and I cut my sim myself with a tool I bought on amazon. I popped the newly cut nano sim into my moto x pure and it was good to go. Verizon signal pops right on when you turn your phone on and it does not mess up your plan. I have been using this cut sim since the phones came out.

What to expect on Verizon?

I've never had an unlocked phone before. I currently have an M8 (nano SIM) active on Verizon. I've read reports from people and their N6 experience. Some say it was simply a matter of moving the sim into the new phone. Others say they went through hell to get it to work. Does Verizon need to get involved? Is it really a case by case basis? Did people who had trouble do something wrong? Any insight appreciated.
I don't think we'll know until someone tries. As you had said, Verizon wouldn't issue SIMs or activate the N6 for the longest time. They have a terrible track record of allowing devices they don't sell on to their network. I'm on Verizon, and will probably go to Fi when it arrives. Cheaper that way anyhow.

I am in the same situation as you, never having had an unlocked phone and on Verizon. Have a Note 4 now and hope I can just walk in and get a SIM from them without problems, don't want to be put in the position of cutting down a micro-sim to a nano-sim size. Seen Youtube vids and yes it looks easy, but if someone can mess it up it is me. Hope they don't give us a hard time.
there was a small period of time where the XPE was having activation issues for new SIMs but existing SIMs worked fine. i anticipate this will remain the same. existing SIMs will work fine.
i do remember some issues with either the '13 X or some other models that were unable to do simultaneous voice/data but was eventually resolved.
I bought a nexus 6 on day 1. I was coming from a note 3 with a micro sim .I did not deal with Verizon at all. I cut my sim to make it a nano. Threw it in my Nexus 6 and the rest is history. Been using it ever since and when i get my 6p im just gonna transfer that sim into the 6p
I've cut down a sim card before. I had the HTC Rezound and when I ordered the Galaxy S4 I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting a Micro Sim from the store. The Rezound had a full size sim. There are sim templates online. Download and print one out. Cut the template EXACTLY and place on your Sim card. Trace in Pencil and then get a quality pair of scissors. Easy as that. They also make Sim card cutters online you can buy really cheap.
you do not even need a template...a good pair of durasheer type scissors and just trim all the plastic around the gold contacts off and you are good to go.

I called up and told them that a friend was giving me a Motorola Nexus 6, but I didn't have the phone yet so I couldn't activate it over the phone, and requested the nano-SIM.
It arrives tomorrow and I plan on putting it in an adapter and into my Rezound and activating it. That way on delivery day, I will just swap the SIM into the new phone. No guarantees, but I read this worked for the X Pure.
This is a really stupid question but I never bought a phone that I couldn't just pop my old sim card into and use right away. Are you saying I need to go buy a nano sim card from verizon and go through the activation process? I want to be able to use my phone straight out of the box so how to a buy a nano SIM so I have it ready to go on delivery day??
I've had unlimited data forever and I bet Verizon will claim new sim card means i'm no longer grandfathered but thats a headache for another day.
I'm ordering a nano sim right now, and putting it in my adapater and into my G3 to activate it then dropping it in my 6P when it gets here
EDIT: Update, I ordered the Nano SIM and they requested the device I would be using... I was slightly apprehensive but wen ahead and told them I'd be switching to the 6P and they were like ok... well.... let's figure out a way to get around this because it's requiring me to list a phone we currently offer. So she figured out a way to work around it and my Nano SIM is on the way! First time in a while i was pleased with the outcome from speaking with customer service lol.

I actually did the online chat with a representitive... but yes... I took a chance and it worked out jsut fine. But.. she was cool about it and told me to use an adapter and activate it on my G3 before placing the nano sim in my 6P... which was the plan anyways lol

I just went on Verizon chat and asked them for a nano-SIM and they said they would ship it out right away. They had no issue with what device it was for or anything. She said there was no need to activate it in my old phone just put it in the new phone when it arrives and it will been fine.... We shall see.

I can say with confidence that we shouldn't have a problem. Here's why:
I ordered a Nexus 6 from Motorola the day it was released. The Problem was,
I was using a HTC One M7 (Micro Sim)...The Nexus 6 is a Nano Sim and Verizon
didn't support the phone. I went into Verizon thinking all they had to do was
activate a Nano Sim and all is well....NOPE! They told me I needed a phone with
the Nano Sim to activate it. Luckily the guy that was helping me ended up being
AWESOME! He found an nonactivated Iphone 5 (Nano Sim) and added to my
account and then just swapped the Nano Sim into my Nexus 6 and LTE
popped up.
So i can 99% ensure that it will work with just a Sim Swap.
Lets cross our fingers for that 1% chance
All you chat people must have gotten lucky I chatted with VZW's customer service, and was told that while they could ship me out a new sim, I would have to CALL them to have it done. I sound like the odd man out here, so I must just gotten the nitwit of the bunch. Anyways, I ended up just ordering a "noosy 3rd gen sim card cutter" (from EBay, as I had an absolute nightmare TWICE with Amazon on this specific product for some reason), and feel like I'll be set to go.
It's literally a paper punch, but for sim cards. While I feel I could trim them with no issue, for ~$10 I felt like the added speed and surity of it all seemed like a no brainer to me

Ya.... I felt like I got pretty lucky.. i expected to be given a lot of crap especially because I just switched to their newer/cheaper data plan and currently have 0 phones that use their silly monthly payment plan to buy a phone.
I spoke with a local Verizon rep in the same building as my work; he told me that I would be unable to activate my Nexus 6P on Verizon; I asked him about activating another phone and swapping that sim to the N6P, to which he responded, "Yeah, as long as they're (the sim card) the same size."
I take take his word with a grain of salt, as he seemed to think that the Nexus 6P was just the PLUS version of the standard Nexus 6; just like Apples iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+

If you have an active Verizon sim card just put it in the 6P. If it's a micro then cut it, it still works. Another trick is if you happen to have a IPhone6 IMEI or any phone that is on the Verizon phone list that is Nano SIM you can use that in lieu to activate your 6P.
My friend just got a moto x pure and he just threw in his nano Sim and it worked right , plus tethering is unlocked since verizon doesn't have their mits on the phone first.
