What u really need is fully stock (no change in system partition) . Only by unroot or flashing Stock recovery will not help as system partition is already changed . U need to flash stock rom through fastboot then flash lollipop manually unlocked or lock bootloader does not matter

Hi Everyone.I see some members are new to Sony phones and some to unlocked boot loader. So here is a simple guide.
BTW I'm not the developer of any of these methods.that's why I won't post any links for downloads and will redirect you to original threads.
Do it at your own risk
So let's begin. You have either updated your Z5 to MM or still on LP.
.First step is to flash a kernel that can be rooted. If your Kernel is older than december then you are good to go.If not follow these steps.
1.Download the latest Flashtool
http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
2.Download 32.0.A.6.200 or any older build for your Z5.(pay attention to download the right firmware. for example you may have E6633 or E6653)
3.Flash it and power on your phone.
4.Download Iovyroot and use it to back up your DRM key.(don't forget to enable USB debugging)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/iovyroot-temp-root-tool-t3349597
5.Copy your DRM keys to a safe back up.(warning:never try to flash another handsets DRM key or you will hardbrick your phone)
6.Update back to MM.You can use Sony PC companion to update if you have Locked bootloader or simply download and flash your latest FTF file
7.Unlock your bootloader now.request keys from here.follow the guide
http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/start-unlocking-your-boot-loader/
8.Now to keep your DRM intact and have root and xposed this is the best choice.Download this tool and patch your kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/development/root-automatic-repack-stock-kernel-dm-t3301605
9.after patching your kernel with your own TA back up just power down your phone.press and hold volume up while plugging USB cable to PC to go to fastboot mode.
10.use this command to flash your new kernel
fastboot flash boot boot.img
11.Download latest SuperSu zip and copy it to your phone or memory card
http://www.supersuroot.com/download.html
12.restart your handset.Keep pressing volume up to go to TWRP recovery.Flash the superSU zip.Now you are rooted with locked bootloader
13.(optional)download and flash Xposed zip http://dl-xda.xposed.info/framework/sdk23/arm64/
Fix camera apps FC after updating xposed.
connect your phone to PC with usb.(USB debugging must be on).open ADB shell ans type SU
grant superuser permission to ADB then copy and paste this to ADB and press enter.that's it
/system/bin/dex2oat --runtime-arg -classpath --runtime-arg /system/framework/XposedBridge.jar --instruction-set=arm --instruction-set-features=smp,div,atomic_ldrd_strd --runtime-arg -Xnorelocate --boot-image=/system/framework/boot.art --runtime-arg -Xms64m --runtime-arg -Xmx512m --instruction-set-variant=cortex-a53 --instruction-set-features=default --dex-file=/system/priv-app/CameraCommon/oat/arm/CameraCommon.odex --oat-file=/data/dalvik-cache/arm/[email protected]@[email protected]@classes.dex
Is this really working?

many many thanks josephnero.
I've experience with other devices but I find Xperia rooting quite confusing.
Any chance you can also post a brief tutorial on how to return full stock with locked bootloader after having rooted the device?
So we can use OTA updates again.
I suppose it should be:
1) full wipe
2) flash stock rom with flashtool
3) use Iovyroot tool to restore TA (this should automatically relock BL)
but not sure.

Remember this is not a custom kernel. It's your own stock kernel just RIC and Dm protection patched
After step 10 you have locked bootloader with a patched Kernel and recovery.no DM variety to stop root afterwards

When I will be rooted I don't think I'll need to "flash the same firmware that I used to back up TA" to restore TA and go back to stock & unrooted.
There will be no need to use an exploit to restore TA.
It will be just a matter of :
dd if=TA.img of=....
and then flash lastest stock ROM.
am I wrong ?
If I made a Backup on my Unrooted Z5 MM. 163 with Xperia Backup in settings.
I downgrade. Root my Z5 etc. Update to.. 163 again.
Unlock Bootloader, then Root.
Can I restore that Backup?
Or might that not work?

This tutorial works and I used it some days ago.
But when you flash kernel with your Ta and Sony release update you must unlock bootloader and wiping system once again to flash new kernel. Update via ota is not recomended. Of course we can flash firmware without kernel in Flashtool, but when I tried mobile notify that new update from .185 to 185 is ready....

I currently have (had ) UB and root on .163 MM, today decided to update and LB follow this guide.
I download and flash .185 MM via flashtool (without wipes), in meanwhile I unpack kernel from stock .185 and patched it with my TAbackup.img After flash I disconnect usb cable, don't reboot system, pluged again in fastboot mode, open cmd window with adb, pushed patched with my TA backup stock .185 kernel and latest twrp, next i start device and don't let them start fully but first go to recovery, in twrp choose reboot recovery and after that flash latest root package. Then reboot system and everything works exellent.
Now if i think correctly I have latest MM with UB and stock kernel with my DRM and ofcourse root.

Hi guys I get this phone from not much time so i decide open this thread for explain the basic and necessary
1. How to unlock bootloader?
As all know Huawei web page for get unlock code not is working an also email assistance so how you can get the code,
well follow this:
- You must stay in a firmware less of 4.4.2 or 5.1.1 not 6.0 in my case I use this firmware "MT7-TL10C900B326" *If you're in 6.0, so must downgrade.
- Then to install or stay in a 4.4.2 or 5.1.1 base, download and install Kingroot (Phone will said u that could damage your phone but install it, no problem with it)
- Now open Kingroot and follow the instructions for root your device
- When all has sucessfull now install HonorTurner that can get in this thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/general/unlock-code-via-honortuner-t3217651
- After to install grant the root access permission and go to this tab " Hardware Info" and look this line "WVLOCK" (This is our unlock code, so copy the code in a secure place)
- Now go to "Developer Options" If dont have enabled go to about phone info and press sometimes "Build Number", and enable "USB debugging and allow all and be sure that have installed huawei suite in your pc for get the drivers installed
- Now download the "SRK Tool" from this thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/development/tool-srk-tool-huawei-beta-02-20160501-t3369990
- After to download connect your phone to your PC, dont press nothing in the usb options, only connect
- Now run the SRK Tool and press 1. Unlock bootloader, will ask if you have your unlock code (that we get it with HonorTurner) so press Y, and will start the adb service and will ask for our code, after to add the code, the phone will reboot automatically and u can go to fastmode and look that your device know is unlocked
2. How to install recovery?
* If want install MM before of all u can do it, only be sure that have your bootloader unlocked
* For enter to bootloader mode press Vol + then Vol - and Power at the same time with the phone turn off
- Donwload latest recovery for your variant, in my case M7-TL10 (You can found it here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/general/huawei-mt7-l09-l10-stock-firmware-ota-t3275784)
- For M7-TL10 download this --> https://mega.nz/#!9kBWnY7T!ybhARn5UNXAyxrdQZ1ytKks24eCyzxkgdVhEza6zwFQ
- Connect your phone and be sure that have enabled USB Debugging option and have unlocked the bootloader
- Run the tool and select the recovery that want install
- Wait that the tool finish to install and will reboot automatically, and enjoy!
NOTE--> For enter to recovery mode press Vol + and Power at the same time with the phone turn off
3. How to root your phone?
For 4.4.2 and 5.1.1
- Download and install KingRoot from this link: http://king.myapp.com/myapp/kdown/img/RushRoot-CafeUser-release-nolog-sdk-lc64E08B246F910AF4-b220-svn372160-201609012210b_protected_signed.apk *(Phone will said u that could damage your phone but install it, no problem with it)
- Now open Kingroot and follow the instructions for root your device and wait
- And your phone will be rooted!!
For 6.0
- Download and install a custom recovery *Is necessary unlock your bootloader for it
- Download SuperSU with/without apk from here --> https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=313042859668276376 or https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=313042859668276377 and copy to your phone, if both zip dont work so use this one https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=601296195406528565
- Go to recovery mode (Turn off the phone and press Vol + and Power at the same time of 5-7 seconds)
- Now search and install zip "SuperSU-vX.XX.zip" and wait that the installation finish
- Reboot and enjoy of your rooted phone in MM
I do this thread and guides in 1 place because I see that some info in the others threads are wrong or one in place and other in other place, so for this I decide do it, If any want another guide let me know and I'll add it in this thread, so enjoy of your Mate 7!

Updating guide
Hello friend. Sorry I write you here but it seems that you are good in rooting and I need some help as I am really desperate since I can't backup, and use the apps I need without root access. I always have been rooted in any phone but since I received an OTA update, around 1 giga , giving me the Version Android 6.0 on my phone MT7-TL10C00B561 (Chinese) I lost root.
I tried some guides for uncloking the bootloader but I get the msg like it has not been used for 14days or smth like this.
Can you(or someone) please help me as this phone is out since 1 and half year and I still can't get the root.
Thank you in advance.

just downgraded to B358 and i just lost ALL my important Data, photos, screenshoots (very important) , app datas , configurations ,,,,ALL !! I did not expected to loose the data...as i did not lost any data when i upgraded... but also i could not do any backup as i was not rooted so i could not save the app data etc... I am really sad !
Just hate this phone! Will try unlock bootloader and see if i can get root and update to MM.
So, by your guide i rooted with KingOroot the Lolipop.
Than the Phone got some updates by OTA and now i have the version B561 (all the log is in chinese)
So now i dont have the Root anymore.
I tried the recovery you have uploaded over, twrp 3.0 but when i enter recovery it does not askes me to update but only : reboot, wipe/reset , cache . (with emui logo)
so i guess i still dont have a costum recovery ?
How can i Root it with supersu if i cant choose the zip file with the supersu ?
doubt, and sorry for the silly questions :
- what is the better firmware? the asian version or the european ?
wich one should i use?
and, what about the ota updaes. how can i get them ? do i have to put the huawei recovery again after the root so i can get them ? right ?
and do the same procedure : update- installing costum recovery - root again and install again the huawei recovery ?
thank you !
waiting to root the MM as i have now unlocked bootloader.

Hi,
It seems it didnt install. Perhaps try again? Did you run the tool mentioned in the OP?
I'm not sure what the difference is between asian and european firmwares. I've jumped between middle-east and european roms, and didnt notice much difference.
If you are rooted, and you want OTA updates, you need to first un-root (can be done in the SuperSU app) and install huawei recovery, then you will receive updates.
Then you can just re-flash TWRP and SuperSU, and you are rooted again.

UPDATE: This is now unneeded because threr is a faster way ro unlock bootloader on official MM here, he updated for official MM
Hi, I discovered an unlock method for official MM!! This maybe long but's it totally safe
You need:
Adb and fastboot environment ready PC
LP RAW File
Android 6.0 Beta Unlock tool
Android 5.0 One-Click Unlock tool
First version of beta MM (Z00A) (Z008)
Official MM zip (find it on Asus site)
Thanks to all people upload these links
Just do the following:
Flash the lastest LP via AFT (using raw file given above), wipe all data. If you already on MM, you have to downgrade
Unlock your bootloader using 1 click tool given above
Boot to stock recovery and sideload the first version of beta MM
Unlock the bootloader using MM beta unlock tool above
Boot to stock recovery
Two case here:
Case 1: You can't boot stock recovery
Normally boot your phone (to Android)
Setup it as a new phone
If it shows there is a new firmware, don't update!!!
Enable Developer options, then enable usb debugging
Copy the official MM zip to external sd card
Open command prompt, run adb reboot recovery, accept the adb permission if prompted
After it boots to recovery, select Apply update from SD, then choose the zip file you've copied before
Wait for it to update, it may stuck at flashing splashcreen, don't worry, it's trolling you, may be Asus forgot to update the script
Goto step 7
Case 2: You can boot stock recovery
Sideload the official MM zip (adb sideload <filename>.zip)
Goto step 7
7. Flash this TWRP (fastboot flash recovery <twrp>.img)
8. Root your phone using this method
9. Reboot, if it shows "Your phone has failed verification bla bla..", then you've success. It may reset loop like note 7 in the first time start, don't worry.
9. Enjoy :highfive:
Note: If you're facing with battery problems on MM, factory reset it in Settings > Backup and Reset > Factory Reset > Erase everything
Successfully on my ZE550ML
The warning screen is normal so don't worry and there is no way to fix it for now

Yes, BL will be relocked once you upgrade to MM.
If you want to unlock MM BL(6.0), refer to this thread.
Or you can downgrade to Lollipop referring to this thread. Then your BL(5.0) is unlocked.
Upgrade to MM
Hello folks!
2 week before MM was released i'ved opted to unlock my ZE551ML BL and therefore install twrp and a MM custom ROM..
so here´s the thing i stayed with the ROM for about 3 weeks and honestly..it works very well..but when i knew that 6.0 official was coming out i decided to go back to stock..i did it following manny tuturials avaliable for me to get my BL Re-Locked..but unsuccessfully..so i followed mr_gourav2000 tuturial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/development/stock-rom-ul-z00a-ww-2-20-40-168-t3354526) and reverted to the WW_Z00A-2.20.40.183-to-2.20.40.184 (hopefully i can get the sshot in this post) version...since my BL is unlocked i can´t get no updates..my question is:
Is there anyway to go to MM 6.0 by ASUS with the current status of my phone?
is there anything i can do to revert this??
Cheers to everyone

Just download the update package and rename it to mofd_sdupdate.zip, copy it to internal storage. Then reboot to stock recovery, the update will automatically start. This should work if you have lastest stock recovery

Have you downloaded the correct build? There are build for MM bootloader, if you flash the normal builds, it will fail and reboot to recovery again. Gapps is the same for all builds
After you install that special build, do not update to newer nightlies, it will fail. For updates, check the link i give you and see if there is a new MMBL build.
About that, here is the post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68542370&postcount=8551

Run the script again (i gave you in above post). Download the CM13 in that link, not in the OP of CM13 thread. Flash that CM13 and Gapps (Gapps is universal for MMBL and LPBL).
May be you have corrupt download, I'm currently running CM13 on MMBL

how u unlocked bootloader
Hi, sharing this method. Never pay for another service again! No unlock code required. :good:
Bootloader unlock:
1. Make a backup (optional)
2. Downgrade to 5.0 lollipop official rom via UPDATE.APP files (First file that allows downgrade then full 5.0 rom)
3. Use Kingroot 4.62 apk to root (bootloader is unlocked in the process)
4. Reboot to bootloader with adb - OEM status is locked for the first time
5. Reboot device
6. Reboot to bootloader with adb - Success: OEM status is now unlocked
TWRP:
1. Flash TWRP with TWRP official app
2. Boot into TWRP
ROOT:
1. Flash supersu or magisk zip
2. Reboot
Hello,
Thanks a lot for this thread! I will give it a shot, I have some questions though.
I'm wanting to recover some pictures I accidentally deleted but I need root to do so.
My question is if this method will totally wipe my phone or not, because if I have to wipe everything, that would make it harder for me to recover the pictures (I think?)
Thanks anyways for this very useful post, and thanks in advance for your answer!
Hi, would like to ask:
After unlock n root in lollipop, if update again to stock rom (emui 4.0.3, android 6.0). Will unlock n root status maintain?
Will bootloader go back locked?
Will phone go back unroot?
Thanks a lot @pate194800 !!!
I unlocked my honor 7 for free thanks to your help and then i flashed Yoda V10 B370 !
I'm really happy
Now my phone is working even better than when it was brand new

The white screen of the 4st step is supposed to show some change?
Thanks!

I gave a good try unlocking the bootloader of my PLKL01, but after downgrading to C432B130 (5.0.2), KingRoot 4.6.2 (is this a typo?) failed to unlock it. The newest version (v5.something) did root it, however it left the bootloader locked.
Which firmware did you root exactly?
Thanks it worked really good. This is the easiest way to root your Honor 7.
