This started happening about 2 weeks ago when i had 4.4.2 i now have 5.0 and its still happening, So when i download a file with firefox or the mega app the file downloads like normal with the screen on, next thing you know after the screen goes off and i turn the screen back on the download stops. this never happens with utorrent. The only way the file will download is if i keep the screen on the whole time its downloading. I noticed it pause's the download with mega when the screen is off and some times it resume downloading, but it doesn't keep downloading in the background with the screen off like it used to. I also keep getting a unlock s health notification on start up then it goes away but always show up when i boot up the phone. Anyone know how to fix these very annoying problems. Thanks.

i apologize if this has been posted before but i can't seem to find any information on it.
I just recently updated to 5.0.6. (yes i know 7.1. is out but iwant to wait for a black bar mod before i update)
And i started having some really assy issues with the market. all this is on wi-fi as well.
First off, is that it takes a long ass time to load. 20+ seconds where under wi-fi it normally takes maybe 2-3. Then sometimes it randomly reloads for no reason.
when i try to search for things it sometimes takes up to a minute to search
And when i go into downloads, it dosn't load or show anything. the one time it did it showed me as having all my apps, but not downloaded.
However, when i go to install something, it allows me to see my downloads but then it gets stuck on installing even though the statusbar shows it as being installed completely.
Anyone have any ideas of how to fix this? I already tried uninstalling the updates and cache. no change at all.
*EDIT* just updated to CM 5.0.7.1 and the same thing. any ideas?
Not sure if this is a problem with the phone or some settings i'm missing. I bought the phone 2 weeks ago so i think there is still time to get a replacement but i was wondering if anyone has seen this problem before.
The stock weather widget that is on the home screen by default does not refresh the weather sometimes. If you manually click on the refresh sign from the home screen, it shows it trying to refresh but nothing changes. Same happens if you open the app and refresh from there.
I have data turned on, sync, gps, etc. Nothing i can see that would be stopping it.
The problem is fixed if i reboot the phone. If the phone has been up for about 6-7 hours it still does the refresh just fine. If its been up for 30+ hours the problem above starts happening.
I have another S4 as well, have not been able to catch if the same thing happens with it, but a side by side comparison of "status" and all the apps running is identical and where my phone fails to update the weather (up time over 30 hours) this other one works just fine (up time 5 hours).
The only difference between the 2 is that my phone is rooted.
Happened with my s2. Not my s4
I think i was able to narrow it down and i'm starting to think there is nothing wrong here.
Clearing cache/data on the app also brings it back so no need to re-start. But the failed refresh seems to happen when i'm not able to get a GPS signal. (would be nice if it actually dont you this with an error pop up or something) Still need to try it a few more times but im 95% certain its timing out if it cant lock on GPS. It only seems to happen inside.
The other phone was working even without GPS turned on, which i thought was odd.I later found that it was not displaying current city, but instead was just configured to display the city i happened to be in.
Hi. I foolishly updated to NK1 a month or so ago assuming there was a root. Since the update, I've been having some really annoying basic functionality problems with my Note 3 (outside of it feeling sluggish overall). I've gotten around keyboard freezes, input lag and general f-ups in the Messenger app by switching to Textra. The now nonexistent haptic feedback was "fixed" by increasing the vibration length for each key on the keyboard. For some apps, I've sideloaded an old version to get them to behave like they did before the update. However, there are a few other issues that I'm hoping someone may have some ideas how to fix.
1) YouTube will constantly error out when trying to load a video and my subscriptions list. The white circle will just spin and spin until it finally gives me a "video cannot load" error. If a video won't load, it won't load no matter how many times I click on it to refresh it. I'll have to either close the app and reopen it, or for the really difficult times, restart my phone. Also, if I shrink the app rather than close it when I'm done, no videos will play when I reopen the app unless I close it or restart my phone.
2) The stock camera clears its settings whenever it feels like it. Auto flash, face detection and image stabilization will randomly turn from "on" and "auto" to "off."
3) All of the web browsers (Opera, Chrome, default browser) and Google Maps just randomly hang for about 2 minutes as they try to load data from Wi-Fi and 4G signals. It's similar to what happens with YouTube but they eventually fix themselves after these long hiccups.
4) Often when the backlight turns off before the phone is going to sleep and I touch the screen to keep it awake, the backlight gets stuck in its turned off state, making it hard to see the screen. The only way to get around this is to put the phone to sleep and then wake it up. It does this at least a few times a day.
5) Pulling down the notification bar will sometimes randomly cause my phone screen to start flashing between the notification bar and the lock screen. I have to do a hard reset when this happens.
Thanks in advance for the help! I'm sorry this post is so long. I hate this update and am seriously considering going to HTC.
Have you tried a factory reset?
I have not. I was trying to avoid that if possible and use a last resort.

It's probably your best option. But first try clearing data in the offending apps. Or making sure the apps are updated, or even unibnstalling and reinstalling the apps.
Hey guys, I have had my Note 4 for about 3 years now and it has never done me wrong. However, things have taken a turn for the worse... I started noticing a few days ago that it was slowing down on me, I mean, really slowing down. Big lag times when it comes to swiping to open the screen, or changing between apps, and the occasional self-shut down when the battery got down to about 15-20%. I had been putting off doing a self-update for a while, and when I finally had time to do one tonight, in hopes of cleaning it up, it is now lying on its death bed
I do not think the update ever finished (my phone is not rooted) but I was desperate enough to even do a factory reset and that has not fixed the issue.
Here are the symptoms:
As I go to boot the phone, I get past the Samsung Note logo and it looks like it is about to load properly, but then I get a popup that says "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped" I hit ok and it keeps popping up again. I can't bypass it.. Then after I get passed that for a split second, another popup comes up that says "unfortunately system UI has stopped" It prevents me from getting to the home screen, in fact the screen behind it is black.
I have tried the following:
Clearing the cache partition from the recovery screen
I have done numerous hard restarts
I have gone through with a factory restart
That is where I have left off, and lost most hope, was with the factory restart. Now when I turn it on, I get past the logos and I can see in the background the page you would get as if it was a brand new phone (it says "Welcome! Preparing you device for first time use.." etc. But I can't do anything about it because I am still getting the same two popups that prevent me from doing absolutely everything!!!)
I have read about this happening and people seem to be able to fix this by accessing certain app setting and either resetting them, or clearing their cache. However, that is not an option for me because I can't get that far. I think something must have went wrong during the update...
Please help with any advice you can think of. I have been putting off rooting this phone pretty much because I was afraid of royally f****** it up, but at this point I am willing to try anything.
Thanks,
Eric
Hey guys, does anyone have any suggestions for my issue?? I am about to go out and buy a new phone, I have no idea what I can do to fix this. I have rooted it using Odin, but the popups are still occurring. I can't get the popups to stop, and they are preventing me from doing absolutely everything.
Is there anyway I can get it to go back to complete scratch? Again, I have done a factory reset, cleared the cache, rooted using Odin. I have done everything I can think of/what I have read I can do. I am willing to try anything at this point.
UPDATE: At this point my phone is on, and the only error message/popup I am getting is "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped." Behind that popup is a blank, black screen. The only option I have is to click ok, and the screen remains black.
Temporary solution that might work- Try logging in safe mode: Switch off the phone. Power it on and as soon as Samsung logo appears, release the power button and press and hold the volume down button. Release button when you see Safe Mode on the lower left corner of the screen. Try uninstalling all user apps in safe mode. To get back to the normal mode you can drag down from notification and disable safe mode.
You could also download the latest software for your model from samfirm and flash it via odin after factory reset. Could be a permanent solution.
why you just flash last frimware from sammobile,it will solve all your problems
SOLVED!!!
Alright guys, I was able to solve my problem, all thanks to this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/general/stock-tar-odin-flashable-t3250864
I had already tried flashing a fresh stock rom, but to no prevail. I saw this thread and thought, hey why not give it a shot, and bingo! After downloading the .tar file for marshmellow and launching it through odin, she was good as new! So if anyone seems to have a problem with the system ui or the process phone.android popup, I suggest that thread.
I done the oreo 8.o.o on my sm-g935f a few days ago and since it rebooted i can only use it if i keep the screen open, if the screen closes or i get a call or an sms it starts flashing like mad, i can't even get to clear cache or factory reset cos halfway through it reboots itself, if i keep the screen open i can use the net, make calls, play games, everything as normal but once the screen closes thats it the quick flashing starts and i have to turn it off, by rapidly hitting the red off icon as it shows then start the phone again and maybe get 10 minutes before someone calls or i have to put the phone down and it closes, i've no idea what to do its out of guarantee so i can't take it into Three either, thanks for any help.

try a reflash with odin, if that doesn't help either the screen or the mobo are broken

Thanks for your reply, it looks like a refresh then, I've got nothing to lose, cheers.
Reboot first ?
I've just been reading in the Samsung forum about oreo updates and it's explaining about installing the ota straight away or how you can leave it till later etc, but in both explanations it said that when you select to install it your phone will reboot before starting the upgrade, is that right that it reboots first ? Because i know for a fact my s7 edge didn't reboot, i chose for doing it later because my battery was really low it was either 14 or 16% so i charged ìt up to about 90% then i used sd maid pro to clean out the crap then went and clicked install, and some message come up on the screen i can't remember what it said to be honest but then it went to installing, it DEFO didn't reboot first though, could that be what's caused the problems ? Thanks for any replies.
