[Q] Hulu Plus stops working after rooting with 5.1 - Nexus Player Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone.
My hulu plus app hasn't been able to open since I updated to 5.1. I've tired everything as far as a clean install and rooting process but what I finally noticed is that root is what brakes the app. I tried the new CW recovery and did a full wipe and reset. then I did the factory image install. after installing I decided to leave it like that with out root for a day. So the past 24 hours I've had no issues with hulu plus.
Just now I decided to root the NP again. as soon as I rooted the NP the Hulu plus app stopped working again.
so Now I believe that hulu plus brakes when you root the NP.
Is anyone else having this problem?
I can just use my phone and cast hulu to the NP but the app was much easier.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Everyone.

I am on 5.1 and rooted as well. No issues here. However, I am on stock recovery.

I'm on stock 5.1 rooted and my Hulu will not load at all. Have tried clearing data on it, reinstalling it, everything. It starts acting like it's going to load and then just silently dies.

you need the webview update

Android market status/issues?

Hello there,
There's been some Android market issues on my Aria for the past 24 hours. Nothing will download and it's stuck at 'Starting download…'
I've downloaded plenty of apps the previous days, this just started yesterday. Wonder if the Market is overcrowded, is currrently down, or if this is normal sometimes.
Other info / Steps I've taken:
1. I'm running Liberated R12
2. I'm well connected to the internet (can browse, chat, etc)
3. Tried downloading different apps but they all were stuck at Starting download
4. Tried downloading update for other apps instead, same thing
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

Its definitely not a market issue as I've used it a few times today with no issues, I'm even downloading an update as I'm typing this. My wife also downloaded from the market today with no issues. I'm running cm6 and she has a stock rom.
Maybe try clearing the market data?
Thanks for clearing that up for me. Now we know it's something with my phone… Would you please advice how to clear the Market data? I tried looking for it in the Market app by tapping Menu and other stuffs, but there's no such option.
Thanks again!
Manage apps -----> Market -----> clear data
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Hi there thanks for the quick reply!
I just did the Clear Cache but no can do, it's still stuck at Starting download
Any other suggestions? Lets try to avoid re-flashing please
Okay google sent me an email advising me to login to Talk app. Did that and it didn't solve it.
Anyway I just re-flashed and it's working alright now. Thanks!

[Q] Market disappears on rooted 1.2

Hey all,
Everytime I root my 1.2 device with manual nooter 4.5.6 (haven't tried .18), I get one download out of the Android Market. After that the Market.apk disappears from the system/app directory and I can no longer download apps. The end result of this is that I'm pretty much hosed. I've tried putting SU File Manager on to sideload apps, but it can't installed BusyBox because of the market problem, so no luck with that. I've reproduced this issue at least half a dozen times, using CWR to delete all the user data, re-registering the stock install, and then rooting again.
At this point I'm staying stock until I feel confident I can download more than one app from the market on a rooted device.
So, has anyone else experience anything like this, and if so, is there a solution?
I have this same problem. No solution yet.
It may be related to a download directory bug which has been fixed. I updated to MN4.5.18 over 4.5.6. Everything worked well untill a recent update to 4.5.25. The market crashed again. This issue seems not solved yet. So I had to flash back 4.5.18.
Same here - .18 works very well once you figure out you have to uninstall the apps that want to update and then reinstall clean to remove the chance of bootloops. I was considering doing a complete wipe again and flashing .25, but I've decided to stick it out with .18 until they get squared away.
Overall, MN4.5.18 kicks ass for all intents and purposes, and I'd suggest moving up to that.

youtube force close

Hey guys, having an issue with my nexus 7 where YouTube doesn't work at all. Tablet is stock ROM, rooted with one click method. Root apps installed is ad free. [Q] Force closed apps after updates with NAE stock and cf auto root

I had the stock MK2 with cf auto root and just updated to stock NAE found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2663619
and did (lates version of) cf auto root with odin and everything when smooth, working properly and kept all my data too. Until I tried doing app updates.
From the play store I updated some apps but they started to force close repeatedly so not sure of what to do I re flashed to stock NAE and did the app updates I wanted THEN did the cf auto root and back to normal.
Having the free titanium backup app I decided to buy the Pro version and the whole forced close app issue happened again.
Wondering if anyone else is having this issue and if there is a way to fix this so I don't have to keep going through the process of flashing to stock NAE to do app updates then root again.
PS: this website is great! :good: Been so helpful and it came time to be part of it.
BUMP
I am having a similar problem as well. All my apps worked until the started to update through play store. So far I am having issue with FB, IG, Slice, and Glide. They either wont open at all or they constantly force close. Have you found a solution yet?

ok so after a weekend of trial and error I narrowed it down to the hotspot mod causing the problem. I had reflashed and factory reset and then root and MANUAL hotspot mod with sManager explorer that would force close once before letting me rename the service files but worked after second attempts but would force close any updated apps after the mod. To fix it I deleted the service files for hotspot mod and replaced them with the original ones I had renamed.
The trick to getting it to work is installing philz recovery and flashing the hotspot zip from there. now I have hotspot and no issues with force closed apps.
hope this helps others that stumble on this issue

If you have the hotspot mod and did it manually by renaming the files and placing the new ones try flashing it instead of a manual overide, hope it helps good luck.:good:

Netflix Error 5.2 after updating to Android 8.0- UNROOTED, STOCK

Hi all,
Just updated my stock, unrooted Verizon Galaxy S8 this morning to Android 8.0. Now, whenever I try to watch a show on Netflix, I get an error message saying "This video could not be played. (5.2)". I have already uninstalled and reinstalled, restarted my phone, and called Netflix (who said to just contact Samsung- and we all know how useful that will be). Any ideas here for how to fix?
Thanks!
I fixed that using root.
In a nutshell:
Rename the following file:
/system/lib/liboemcrypto.so to /liboemcrypto.so.bak
Not sure if you can root a Verizon S8, try your luck at this thread for a discussion on the issue.

I can't, and don't want to root- I feel like Netflix and/or Samsung really screwed up here
This is an issue with Android's DRM implementation, I guess. Can you check if your device passes SafetyNet?
That's ... Odd. Netflix works fine for me

Haha well I'm glad it's working for you! After it working all night for me, I'm now getting the same exact error you were getting. It's really annoying me, going to try rebooting next I guess.
Edit
So, rebooting was enough to let me watch one episode of a show, but then I got that error when I autoplayed to the next. I cleared the app's data and that fixed it, too. We'll see if that's a permanent fix.
I have this exact same problem. Don't want to root or unlock. I've tried uninstalling and installing the app. I've tried clearing data and cache. Is the next step a factory reset? Anything else I can do before that?

Same thing happened to me. Just uninstalling and reinstalling the app didn't work. Had to reboot the phone after reinstalling and after logging back into Netflix, went to settings and ran check network. Everything came back OK. Was able to watch without any issues since. Hoping it stays that way.
