Mine? Not very good. Battery lasts an average of 8h with SOT 2:00 (on a good day). I usually take it off the charger at 7:30 at 100%, use it on the way to school and use the school WiFi all throughout the day. Play during breaks a bit and use it to take notes at times, and it's usually dead as a doornail by 4pm. Recharge it, use it to play games and browse the internet and dead again by before 10pm. Battery has already been swapped twice for a new one as both previous ones bulged (one alarmingly so), while on weekends when I use it with data out and about, it gets me to around 6pm, but by the skin of my teeth. How's yours doing?
why don't you provide us some screenshoots of your battery stats?
battery,screen,general usage etc
maybe we can find out why you are loosing so much energy.
If it's still performing well after 2 years, we may have a new breakthrough in battery tech.
Pretty much the same here ....
100% at 7 am ... about 25% at 5 pm ... with 4G connectivity on, work emails sync every hour, whatsapp+viber+wechat sync on.
I have a Galaxy S2, I had to replace the battery after 4 yrs, so I am sure that another year on, I will have to replace the battery for S4 , at which point, I will change my device
My GT-i9505 is also about 2 years old, the battery wasnt that great ever, but lately its been feeling like it drains even faster, so i ordered a replacement battery, genuine one, and their cheap, give or take 10-20 £/$/€ delivered. I plan on using the phone at least another 18 months, maybe 24 months+, no reason not to really, with that battery you can replace, unlike so many other modern mobile gadgets. Having always used either Otterbox Defender or Seidio Dilex on the phone, it doesnt even have any wear'n tear on it, looks like in day 1.

Got a bad one today.
@AB__CD
Can you tell us something about your settings? Screen brightness, apps etc
Air view and smart stay stuff off, only one on is swipe to capture, brightness about 50-70, WiFi most of the day, good reception, about 170 apps, 4.4.2 KitKat, i9500 model

If I do an early summary of your settings, this is what I believe:
- you have too many apps installed. The more apps you have on your phone, the more apps are probably syncing with their online services. (Try wakeup detector or better battery stats from playstore)
- A high screen brightness on the S4 is leading to max 2-3 hours Screen on time. Try auto settings.
- You don't have good reception ( look at the grey and maybe also the black signal reception) Switch to 2G Edge network if you don't need H+.
- If you add that your battery is getting old by probably 20% max, than we can say that your stats are quite natural.
Just think about root with only two apps:
- Greenify (for stopping background drain)
- Afwall (for stopping background syncing of apps where you don't need access to internet like games)
You can also try one thing:
Reset (maybe do a backup with helium backup before!) your phone and use only 4-10 really needed apps for 2-3 days. Then you will see how or bad your battery is.

you are going to have to figure out your wakelocks and get rid of any unwanted apps that are running in the background.

Good reception isn't a problem. There was a black bar because I put it in airplane, just changed the battery for the second time recently and just reset it back in December. Too many apps, maybe, I'll continue to do what I can.

Nope, not very much.
Gave up. Unrooted, installed lollipop, and factory reset. battery seems improved a bit, see for yourself below, though it has the same issues as every other lollipop phone Android System drains a lot of battery.

Hi to all!
I'm thinking of buying either the Legend or Desire. There are two things that are important to me. The battery life and storing applications on the memory card. I suppose that the latter will be taken care of by the upcoming update to Froyo (if it ever happens!). How about the battery life? How long does it last on the Legend? Would anyone have any experience with the Desire vs the Legend on this? All comments appreciated!
Thanks in advance!!!
I don't have experience with the Desire but my Legend performs battery wise as expected from a smartphone I guess.
After the last update I discovered for example that leaving Google Reader open in the browser in the background drained power, so I now leave the browser always on the google homepage or kill it altogether when I'm not using it and I've seen an increase in battery life.
Anyhow, I give it a pretty intense use, on a work day I listen to podcasts on it for some hours at least, I connect it to my car bluetooth on the commutes (40 mins average total), read email, etc. And it lasts me the full day without problems, usually ending the day with 30% or more battery left.
It obviously depends on how each one uses their phones, as tricks like the Reader one I mentioned can make a difference.
The Legend seems to have slightly superior battery to me. My legend ends the day at about 30 percent after 2 hours of Bluetooth stereo playback, and plenty of latitude use and web browsing. My partner's new desire ends the day about about the same but without the music playing I do.
I was jealous of the desire when my partner bought it but If I had the choice of legend or desire again, it would be a hairline decision to buy legend again. If Legend had live wallpaper I would choose legend without doubt.

My battery life is even better than my old dumbphone. With medium use and pretty stringent management (ie. a task killer, bluetooth and wifi off unless I need them), I can get about five days on a charge.

Are you sure you are using the original battery ? I have never heard anyone reporting 5 days on any smartphone on even minimal usage. Legend seem to give 1 to 2 days max on minimal usage.

I have on two occasion to manage get three days but five days? Naah, not with the original battery.
Well if you disable APN the thing can last 5 days, but with net connection active definitely no way.
I can believe he gets 5 days out off this phone. I can get 3 days out of it with very good reception, some hours of browsing and 20 texts a day. Almost no calling and 3G always on AND WITH A GOOD TASK KILLER I always kill almost every app before putting it in standby you just need to know what you can and can't kill.
I can do 3 days with low use (maybe 10min calls and 20sms a day) and APN off most of the time.
With APN on I don't think it will last more than 2 days max
Just to clarify, I do turn off my mobile internet unless I'm using it at that moment, and yes I'm using the stock battery.

Sure, if you turn everything off it'll last a few days, but then might as well carry a dumbphone
Hey all,
I've been using Azure 1.0 on my Legend.
In case anyone is wondering what battery life is like on this ROM [I know I wanted to know before I decided to run it...] :
I've just got the best usage for this ROM in terms of battery life, since I started using it [0.5].
I haven't gone for Azure 1.0.1, and have stuck to 1.0 as I didn't have any APN issues...

Voice calls = 1hr 3m 15s + SMSing
WiFi = 6hr 46m 46s
For the hours that WiFi was not on, Data [H/3G] was always enabled.
Approx 1hr 45min of browsing
Approx 10 emails received and replied to
Battery life was pretty poor when I first installed the ROM.
Then I used SetCPU to help....but it didn't seem to help too much...
Now I am seeing better battery life, like the above.
No idea if this is good/bad for this ROM, but for me, its the best I've seen yet....
...though still probably not as good as I first saw on the stock ROM before the update which messed up the stock SMS app was pushed out...
18 hours ~ 24 hours average. 1 and a half day or so if I'm lucky.
2G network. only switch on 3G when it's needed.
Wi-Fi, gps and bluetooth if needed. If not, it's turned off all the time.
always leave my Trillian (MSN/YM/gTalk) turned on almost all the time (like 75% of the time).
WhatsApp for 24 hours.
Mail fetching every 4 hours.
Twidroyd fetching every 15 minutes.
Urbandictionary widget fetching every hour or so.
15 minutes of call average.
Texting about 10-20 times a day.
And data counter widget running all the time.
Rooted and using a nice clean ROM called "CleanEclair 1.6.2"
Got a good Task Manager too.
It's definitely better than my old iPhone 3g.
BUT, if you are asking "Desire or Legend"
I may choose desire for it's better hardware.
PS: Sorry about my bad english.
Just to echo previous statements about battery life, I too get an easy 24 hours from my UK Legend. It usually has at least 30% charge left when I plug it in at night (10-11pm), this is from about 6am. As I type this as 4.30pm it has 69% left.
I leave data and wifi on all the time but only enable GPS & Bluetooth when needed. The phone connects by wifi at home but is in a marginal 2G location when I'm at work (cheers, Vodafone!) so probably has to work quite hard to keep connected to the network.
Google services and Twitter update constantly, Facebook every hour.
Don't run any task killer apps as I found they made naff all difference.
I do watch how many browser tabs I have open and what's on them thought as I notice that some pages really suck the battery dry.
Navigation is the real killer on the Legend (or any Android I guess); the combination of screen on, GPS enabled and heavy duty data use means it can go flat in as little as 3 hours. A power cable in the car will only supply 500mA, rather than the full 1A that a main scharger will, so it only really slows down the drain on the battery.
Other than that I expect the phone to fit my life, not the other way round. The effort that some expend to micro-manage their battery life really baffles me!
I get terrible battery life...
Typically 7-8hrs , now I use it for work but today I did 30ish minutes of calls, + maybe 1hr's worth of reading emails, sending data etc etc etc.
From looking at the "battery" part of the settings/about screen I can see that Display seams to be the thing EATING the battery..
is this normal?? I do use the power widget and put the screen down as low as it goes when I can however im really shocked at the power usage..
Ive tried using a task killer (advanced task killer) and JuiceDefender and neither make much difference...
any comments?? am I being realistic? I used to have a blackberry 8900 and it would easily last me a whole day , doing the same email load, websurfing, syncing etc, might even last 1.5days but I tend to plug the legend in whenever I can....
Is this normal???

Yup. Try lowering your screen brightness and see the difference. Screen and gps is the most battery-hungary.
Everything depends on how you use your phone. Try to avoid GPS and max screen brightness. And always remember to kill aps with any of the app killers, after you finished with it.

Good advice. Except on the task killing. Google around why task killing is not healthy for your phone.
my battery doesn't seem to show the correct level...I can charge it overnight on the mains an in the morning it has only got to 38%. Take the battery out and it goes up to 60ish%. Phone will last about a day, but can't seem to get a full charge into it.
Like most people, I've had bad battery life since the J16 update. My phone didn't last a whole day [6am-10pm].
I've read and found nothing.
I decided to uninstall the new Task Manager that came with the J16 update.
Since I never installed one before, I thought it was worth a try.
It should be running in the background to check on 'open' apps, right?
UNINSTALLED.
So far, i know my battery has been lasting longer.
You should try this if you don't care about having the new task manager.
You can uninstall using Titanium Backup.
Don't try if you're not comfortable.
If anyone does this, post it up and let everyone know if battery life has increased.
Try a custom ROM

Or, try actually using your phone. Why do people continue to try to pass off "Oh this phone has excellent battery life" when their own screenshots show that they haven't used the phone for most of its up-time?
FWIW, I can get about 4 hours of actual usage, i.e. the total time my screen is on is about 4 hours. That is not to say 4 hours of continuous usage, but rather in total for the whole day before my battery conks out on me.

Than I do not see a point of these threads about "my battery life sucks". I use my phone for my needs, and it lasts me longer since I upgraded to a custom ROM with a custom kernel. I use my phone as an MP3 player during my 2 hr commute, while reading the news, etc. Before I went with the custom ROM+kernel my phone would last 20 hrs at best while performing the same tasks.

Agreed! I actually get 4 hours of continuous use, as well. I thought it was crazy because everyone was talking about getting amazing battery life. Even with battery conditioning, I get the same 4 hours and when I say continuous use I mean it. I check my Twitter, RRS Feeds, Facebook, Browsing, Pandora, gaming, etc. All at the same time and I play heavy 3D games like N.O.V.A not anything like Hang Man. I never get past 4 hours because I use my phone extensively.

This is a serious problem. It looks like the SyncManager has a huge bug introduced in JI6. It seems that the SyncManager will lose it's mind and continuously start pulling data over 3G from Exchange. No emails get returned at this point. Once I kill the SyncManager and run Email I will get all my emails and the SyncManager will run properly again.
When the SyncManager breaks, my battery drains at a rate of 1% per minute and the phone is HOT. I fear what it is doing to my data usage through T-Mobile. I just looked it up. 40 Megs in 4 hours (it was plugged into the charger for 3 of these). 7.2 GB/mo if I let it go for 30 days on the charger.
I'm running Bionix 1.9.1 I haven't used the phone in the past 3 hours and my battery's dropped to 73%

It is part of Android, so it is available on all ROMs - not just custom ROMs. Go to settings -> about phone -> battery status (or something like that).

Out of frustration with horrible battery drainage after the update, i gave in a did a factory restore yesterday as a last resort.
I can happily say that my battery situation has dramatically improved after doing the factory restore. after sleeping for 7 hours, my battery drained ONLY 1% compared to the the night before in which my battery drained 30% over night.
Despite some saying not to use juicedefender, i've had good experiences with the program and I did have it running last night. (paid version)
Regarding mediahub, i have not accepted the t&c's and don't plan to. However download manager (media hub process) is running in my running services.
Currently it has been 14 hours since unplug and my batter is at 25%. I have used my phone heavily for the past 5 hours.
btw, my phone is completely stock.
I am quite happy.
can anyone confirm that removing the Task Manager improves battery?
I did see an improvement stopping the Media Hub and DRM service but it only lasted a shrot time. Now I've been having terrible battery life, I've only been able to get about 15hr with bare minimum use. I rooted lastnight and removed Media Hub. I'm in airplane mode even and I'm dropping 1-2% every half hour.
i dont get it i use my phone all day on wifi then play music at work for 4-5 hrs through bluetooth headphones come home surf the web on wifi for 2 hrs and my battery is still at 35% am i just lucky or ? i dont have the battery problems that i hear soooooo much about ?

Nice..
Mine can only hold for about 15 hours, lite web browsing, barely phone calls and texts..
I got about 16 hours yesterday. Using CM7. Brightness all the way up. Everything on except wifi. Browsing about 2 hours. About 5 phone calls, 15 mins or more. Used google maps. Did about 20 text msgs. I think that's all I did. Loving the battery life on CM7.
I get like 2 days use out of my phone without charging it. I've always tried to figure out why my battery life is always so much better than my gfs and I think I might have figured it out....I'm always on wifi.
The two places I am the majority of the day (work and home) I am constantly connected to wifi so it keeps my radio from scanning for a bettery data signal so my battery lasts a lot longer.
I have:
Iced Glacier v.1.1.6
Gorilla OC 1.6ghz beta v05 (but runs at 1.7ghz?)
SetCPU set at 1.7ghz ondemand and 245mhz screen off powersave
I get around 16 hours from a full charge, but Im always on the phone and playing with it but I have noticed that my battery does last longer on wifi
after tinkering around with it its working out better.
using
CM7nightlies#9
CM kernel
no setcpu
i get around 20 to almost 24 hours of usage. but most of the time i'm charging or partial charge cause i stream music like a mad man ahha.
stock i can get almost 24 hrs on a full charge im also using screen filter app(awesome app to use) im on pocket empires a lot too
Is it just me or does 100% last longer when fully charged? Has anyone also observed this? ATM I have 93% at 20hour mCPU scaled at 768mhz and around 15-16H moderate use with scale at 1.6GHz on max load.
I bought the Mytouch 4g on black Friday and found problems with the battery life in the first week. 5 Hours maximum without even using it. The camera worked randomly. I exchanged the phone for another one and all my problems were solved. I use the phone for gaming mostly and that drains the battery obviously .
I purchsed the powerskin case from the T-mobile store and I couldn't be more satisfied. I can use my phone for 6-7 hours straight playing games and browsing the web and it still has a full battery with a bar left on the power skin. It may be a little bulky but it brings be back to the good ol days when phones were bricks and adds that extra padding that I feel is necessary for protection. The price tag on the powerskin was $70 at the store but when it was scanned it came up as $40.00.
I highly suggest this product for those with fear of their phone dying unexpectedly.

Just because of root your battery is that great? My brightness is off all day and my Data is off and my battery MIGHT last me till like 10:00 PM..
This is probably a silly question, and after quite a while searching I haven't found any real answer, but here goes:
Going from original out-of-the-box to rooted RoyalGinger 2.1, the battery use by my Display has gone WAY down. Like from always being #1 to usually being well below Cell Standy, Phone Idle, Wi-Fi, etc. And it's definitely not that I'm using the Display less.
Has anyone else seen this? Does it have something to do with how RoyalGinger, Gingerbread, etc. calculate battery usage? Is it normal?

Going from original out-of-the-box to rooted RoyalGinger 2.1, the battery use by my Display has gone WAY down. Like from always being #1 to usually being well below Cell Standy, Phone Idle, Wi-Fi, etc. And it's definitely not that I'm using the Display less.
Has anyone else seen this? Does it have something to do with how RoyalGinger, Gingerbread, etc. calculate battery usage? Is it normal?

yes its normal. you came from stock MySense UI(stock Glacier), and Sense builds are known to be battery whores because they look awesome, have loads of interactive widgets, and lots of bloatware as well. going to an AOSP build(CM7, RG) the ROM is very lightweight and contains little to no bloatware and still as fast, maybe even faster. just look at the size of the files...Sense=300+MB, AOSP=80-110MB. plain and simple, all of the bloat consumes more power on your display

Thanks for the prompt reply. I guess I didn't expect the Sense bloat to be reflected in the display usage. Does "Display" include the touch interface as well? If so, I guess I can see why Sense would show up as display.
Display counts more than just the power used by the LED backlighting.
I plugged my phone in yesterday at 14 hours of uptime with 45% battery remaining, after a day of fairly heavy use. Close to three hours of music listening, two hours of screen-on time and 3G/wifi web browsing, forty minutes of voice calls and a few SMS.
Using CM7 nightly #143 and insanity v3 kernel, 122/1017 clocks with smartass governor. I'm sure if I switched from smartass to conservative my battery life would increase a bit, but I like the smoothness that smartass gives me, and even on a day of brutally heavy use, I'll still come home with at least a quarter charge left.
Here's mine. Don't post attention to the time, I rebooted a couple times, it's probably been about five hours on battery. I don't do too many games per se, but I do browse xda and facebook a lot
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
here's mine (i'm too new to post links):
15h 12m 37s on battery
Android System 44%
Cell standby 22%
Phone idle 18%
Voice calls 8%
Wi-Fi 6%
Display 5%
as you can see (er, read), the display is really low. not sure what's up with system (maybe scanning the sdcard?), usually it's just standby and idle at the top. this is on RG2.1 with the display on auto brightness with defaults.
so this really is normal?

yep, that looks about normal for AOSP builds
Well I won't complain. Like I mentioned, I was really surprised at the low battery consumption of the display. Didn't expect that much difference just by changing ROMs. Wish I would've rooted a long time ago.
Thanks again for humoring me and my silly questions.

I know a few people have been moaning about the plays battery but I thought I would post a couple of pictures showing how well mine has been lasting over the weekend, I'm highly impressed as I have been using it quite a lot too.

That is 36 hours since a last charge and counting with 39% battery left! during this time I have been using the internet, a few apps, the camera and XDA forum app!
The lowest the Play has latest me is about 7 hours but that is playing 3D games non stop, so anything pushing the gpu will drain the battery a LOT faster than shown above.
So yup, the Play has got a FANTASTIC battery
UPDATE: So far it has lasted 40 hours 8 minutes with 18% remaining
Update, 43 hours with 13% left
Damn i'm jealous. My play doesn't last that long. Did you disable some app's? Ans all sync on manual probably
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
I've got about 150 apps on my phone, Trillian constantly running to keep me online with IM protocols, syncing set to automatic, streaming podcasts with bluetooth and playing games from time to time, often with the screen on for long periods of time. I've been averaging 24-35 hours per charge, FAR better than my old Captivate which wouldn't last a day at any point.

Mine is rooted and I removed a few system apps, nothing major though, I have facebook and twitter syncing every 3 hours, email every hour.
My Play finally turned off at 2%, total time - 45 hours, 7 minutes
I have been using a lot this afternoon so did go down faster during the last few hours, highly impressed as my old samsung galaxy s would never last a day without a charge.
Yeah, I think it just depends on how you use it. For me I don't use 3G at all so that already saves, and then on top of that I selectively turn on/off bluetooth and wifi. I can game for like 3 hours straight and still have 75% left. I think the longest I've gone is 24+ hours with heavy periods of gaming throughout. If you constantly use 3g, wifi, bluetooth, and have a gazillion programs running then ur battery life might be way less.

This is the thing, On the other end of the scale I have only got 7 hours out of it when I was playing games non stop all day but that isn't bad as my old psp would go flat in 3 hours playing non stop.
It definitely depends how you use it but its good to know it can last for almost 48 hours between charges if you want it too!
Hello FK1983, thanks to your post I found the Battery Monitor Widget, which provide more information than the one I had before. I was reading all the post about the xperia play battery because mine was lasting just for half day.
I install this widget and noticed that where it provide the estimate charge use by the phone was showing more than 150mA, this even in standby, while yours was only showing 4mA, base on this I know somethign was running and eating my battery so I restart the phone and now it has been in 2mA while in standby and around 40mA and 60mA while writing msg or checking something else.
Is there any way to know what is eating my battery if I notice the last behavior again? so i can just kill it and not just restart the phone again
Another thing I noticed is that in your picture where you can see the battery information it says "Techno: Li-poly 585/1500mAh" while in my play says "Techno: Li-poly XXX/1200mAh" where XXX is the actual battery charge. Is this indicating that there is something wrong with my battery? I check it just to be sure that it wont be a 1200mAh battery model because of different region market but the battery has written on it 1500mAh. Any help will be appreciate.
Thanks.
Always check to make sure Gtalk isn't running in the background if you're on 3G (make sure your signed out), as it literally destroys my battery in about 6 hours.
And if anyone knows of a precise application that indicates battery usage (outside of the built-in one), I'd love to hear about it!
There's no question that the play has great battery life compared to most smart phones out there. I lost my charger and it lasted 4 days and still wasn't dead when I bought a new one.
any tip?
is a good time in u battery....

The battery mAH settings you can change from 1200 to 1500 in the options, that maybe why some of your stats look different to mine? give it a try.
Regarding running apps, you could keep a close eye on the running processes and see what is running there, or use a task killer or even an "app monitor" that records apps usage.
Folks that report awesome battery life:
Have you applied the 2.3.3 update? I'm still on 2.3.2, and I'm lucky if I get 5 hours of moderate internet browsing before needing to plug in (with about 20% battery left).
Also, in contrast to the OP's picture, my battery widget is consistently reporting between 200 and 300 mA shortly after a reboot. Can't kill any tasks to speak of either. Nothing is running to speak of except homescreen widgets.
Using launcher pro with its built in facebook widget, power control, fancy widget, pandora widget (not playing), winamp widget (not playing), battery monitor widget, google plus widget, and a volume control widget. Running a live wallpaper as well. With all this running, is 300mA a reasonable usage?
I'm on 2.3.3. 5 hours seems awfully short for just web browsing...
I get around 24 hours with 15 hours of Facebook & ebudddy....around 2hours of web browsing and abit of gaming

Im on 2.3.3 and i get around 24 to 30 hours facebook and surfing the web for around 2 hours and sending msgs and making some calls. if you are getting 200 or 300 mA i think something is killing your battery. On idle Im getting around 4 and 5 mA sometimes 12-15 mA(I guess something running in the background) and when using the web browser, WIFI on and GPS on im getting around 100-150 mA the most being really bad.
I'm on the R800X. I guess verizon really screwed this phone up.
I rooted my play last night and my battery seems to drain quicker.
I don't know why I havent done anything to phone yet as iv been at work all day. And since I havent replaced all my games yet iv used it alot less today than I normally would but the battery seems to have drained more than usual.
Would a task killer help prolong battery life? I read somewhere that a task manager is not needed with android but im skeptical

Android has a build in task killer, having two will only drain battery. try setcpu and remove as much bloatware as you can(need root).
I just updated my play to 2.3.3 and battery life seems worse for me than 2.3.2. I can barely get through a day of light usage (no gaming, and ard 1 hr's worth of web surfing, switched off most of the updating from apps like facebook, email, pulse etc to manual).
I tried battery monitor widget and my Battery health shows up to be 'null' (my friend's htc desire hd shows 'good'). Would any kind soul be able to tell me if there's something wrong with the battery or the software (mine is stock Singapore xperia play firmware 2.3.3).
I recently got a razr HD and i noticed my battery barely lasts a day. I had a flip phone before and it would last a week on one charge, i know i wont get the same type of battery life. I downloaded juice defender and set it to turn off my wifi/data when not in use. It has helped a bit since before that my phone would lose 2% battery an hour just in standby. I haven't downloaded any task killers, but when i'm done with my apps i go in to the settings and close them.

Two things to fix,
one, adjust your brightness to auto. The higher the brightness, the faster your battery dies, that is massive screen use.
two, poor wifi/cellular reception = ****ty battery, the phone uses more power to lock onto signal.
Dont use task killers, they do more harm than good.
I adjusted the brightness on my tbolt and I doubled battery life

Hmmmm. i wasn't very through with my post, but i have mine set on auto brightness. My wifi at home is usually 4 bars and 3 if im in the basement. I get 4 bars LTE for 95% of my day. In the main building on campus i get 1 bar if im lucky but usually its out of service so i depend on the wifi. The only thing i use my phone for is listening to music on my way to school, texting, email (but i set it to sync every hour), some light internet browsing, and calls.
Edit: Also on a sidenote is the smart actions useful? It seems like it does the same thing like juice defender.

yes, smart actions does the same thing with less battery,
UP your sync time! The more often you sync the more battery you use! I would put it on 4 hours and only sync if you need something important.
Turn of your cellular radios at school and that will help battery
Clearly your screen is consuming most of the battery. Try lowering your brightness, If you used it to text and kept the screen on for long time.. it might have consumed battery in that period. Not sure if its helpful or not .. but here are my battery stats after a normal usage day.

The 3 hours in sync shouldn't be eating up my battery though, but i guess every bit helps.
This is after taking it off the charger at 0800, I use my phone all day with limited smart actions.

Do you think its my battery? I got suckered into the futureshop warranty and they said since my battery can't be replaced if anything happens to the battery they will replace my phone for one of an equal value or greater if i pay the difference.

nah, just change the sync settings to longer and set your brightness to auto and see what happens over the next few days and report back.
I noticed the biggest difference when turning off WiFi and mobile locations.
Also 4.1.2 seemed to increase my battery life dramatically too.
I don't think setting the brightness to Auto is the best for saving battery. When in auto, the light sensor is turned on and some processing has to be done to define the brightness every time the screen is turned on. And that consumes energy.
I always keep mine at 50% and, when in very bright places, I go for 100% brightness.
Hi again, today i disabled my wifi and data manually whenever i wasn't using them and manually enabled it whenever i needed it. It worked a lot better and i left my house with 85% charge and i used my phone a little bit more than yesterday and it used up a little bit over 25%. I also played around with my juicedefender settings and hopefully it will work better. I will set my brightness to 50%. I'll post back in a few days. And is my battery working properly, because i honestly expected it to last a lot longer. Also thanks for the suggestions.
I really like 2x battery for controlling battery usage by data connections. There a light version as well. It basically turns off mobile data when the screen is off and turns it on when the screen is turned on. It can do the same for wifi as well. The light version will reconnect and sync everything every 15 minutes (or you can turn sync off). I paid for the full version and it allows you to change the sync time to longer increments. I use it mostly because I don't want to have to remember to toggle and where I work the 4G signal isn't so great.

Have the same problem! Brightness is low, internet is off, when I don't need it, still the battery is weak!
You said you had a flip phone before and the battery lasted a week, is this your first smartphone?
Smartphones have a 24 hour battery life at best, This phone has an above average battery I have had 48 hrs out of it..
other things to get in mind is the ROM you are using, I see you are on stock Ice Cream Sandwich, ICS have a good battery life, I have tried Telstra Jellybean and it was not as good, I also get excellent battery life with epinter's CM10
I am very satisfied with the battery life! I also recommend x2 battery, which seems to prolong battery life with little to no impact on the usability of the phone (at most a potential short delay on emails when not on wifi). I generally use wifi whenever possible which use much less battery than the mobile modem. Also I have disabled a few stock apps that I don't use e.g. the non-gmail (stock) email app. The phone is not rooted and using stock o2 JB rom.

Wow sick battery life, do you have the MAXX HD?
I think it is as well. I admit it may be a little "inflated" by using Wi-Fi mainly rather but impressive nevertheless. Wi-Fi or not I generally experience good battery life. I have the normal non-Maxx edition bought in Germany September last year.

Also have a look using Better Battery Stats app to see what your most battery hungry wakelocks are, especially Kernel wakelocks.
I had issue when I first got my razr as I was using it on a network that doesn't have Fast Dormancy yet the phone has fast dormancy enabled, so i had to freeze it and battery life improved a little.
But unfortunately fo me the main problem was where i live. I'm in a city, so it's not a lack of cell towers, but for some reason at home my battery usage is insane while connected to mobile data, 9%-11% an hour with no use compared to 2%-5% elsewhere around the city. (Am thinking it must be getting bounced from tower t tower trying to get a better H+ connection) As soon as I switch over to wi-fi tho (which I have set to always on,) my battery usage drops to about 0.8%-1.2% per hour in standby.
