I created this thread for users of the dual sim variant of the Galaxy S6. I'm excited for my phone that will be released on 04/18 here in the Philippines. I pre-ordered the Black 32GB . How about yours?
Already owned Duos 32GB now
What is the model number of the dual sim variant and which country is it from?

Awesome! I'm also interested in the model number and which country is it made. Can you share it to us? Thanks!
http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/consumer/mobile/smartphones/smartphones/SM-G9200ZWUTGY
The model name is remained Galaxy S6, not named Galaxy s6 Duos. The model number is SM-G9200 and available in four colour in HK(with Green will be available in next month probably) and only 32GB listed, no 64/128GB offer as selection. The official price is USD$730.5 here.
http://www.wilsoncomm.com.hk/product-display-990
WCDMA SIM 1 / SIM 2: WCDMA: 850/900/1900/2100, TD-SCDMA: 1880/2010
LTE SIM 1 / SIM 2: FDD:AWS/700/900/1800/2100/2600, TDD: 1900/2300/2500/2600
It does support a wide range of WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, LTE, TDD including almost all network in HK, China, Europe and USA. I can't find out where is it manufactured, it's odd that doesn't mention in the box. But since we are part of China, safe guess is made in China.
There are still two more dual sim variant available in China with other model number as I known and not sure if they got 64/128GB.
SM-G920FD might be a dual sim phone... not sure yet
(SM-G920F is an international unlocked phone... FD suggests international unlocked + dual sim?)
weird..hmmm. i found this at samsung philippines website and it says SM-G920FD ...i'm sure that it is a dual sim version as announced.
dualsim
Did someone ever have a dualsim card phone and can comment if it uses battery much faster. I live in China and it seems that the Hong Kong version is available as dualsim but I am hesitating as battery life isn't great already and I am sure there won't be any custom rims targeting dualsim phones.

Hi the HK version of dual sim as mentioned above is G9200. I am also based in China and currently in hk for few days. I just bought the s6 32gb 2 days back. Yesterday it gave me 4 hours screen time with 3g data on all the time. I had a lot of google services on yesterday which i have turned off today and will report how it goes.

This time we are all on the same and only exynos platform, custom roms for dual sim model is easier and possible in the future but unliky there will be a lots appear. Indeed, with 3gb ram and so powerful cpu you are enough to live with stock rom and kernel except that you want to get the best battery performance out.
Speaking to the battery life, it just getting better everyday. After a few times of recharge cycle plus the latest ota update yesterday, my battery life seems to be improved up to 50%. You have to be power saving mode enabled if you want to use it full day however. Second sim should consumer a bit more power but it is limited to 2G when your first sim is in 3g or 4g mode, I think 2g only use very little battery.

Hi
Is the phone dual sim dual active mean both sim can receive calls same time not dual standby ?
Is the phone dual 3G/4G mean both sim can have 3G/4G?
Thanks.

Both sim can receive calls at the same time. However, with one being used as 3G/4G and the another one is limited to 2G. Not dual 3G/4G standby.
Thanks for your reply. So it's dual full active not dual standby and you can switch 4g to sim 2 but in this case sim 1 is 2g correct?

I am keen on getting the G920FD too. Do you know what network frequency and bands it supports?
Tried asking on samsung facebook philippines or samsung page, no info provided.

As you can see from the screenshots, it already told you almost all things. I've got a couple of sim card but currently I only got one nano sim so I can't test the sim2 yet.
Voice call: You are free to pick which sim you would like to dial out and ring people.
Data service: You are limited to use either sim1 or sim2 to go on Internet but you can switch it here easy anytime. Only the data sim will get 3G/4G access and the other sim will switch to only 2G mode.
Dual Sim Always on: When you enable it, you can always receive phone call from both sims at the same time even you are during calls.

Good for you!
BTW
...As I check the model number inside the settings it says SM-G920F..But on all the stickers at the phone box and on the phone it says SM-G920FD....I think we can't just use a SM-G920F custom ROM in the future as there's a dual simcard settings in the phone.
Thanks TheEndHK
I think It's a dual sim dual standby and with the option dual sim always on as it shown in your screenshot you enable call farwarding from sim 2 to sim 1 when you receive a call to sim 2 and talking to sim 1. It's not a real dual active.
Regarding data service if you put your sim card to sim 2 tray and set data service to sim 2 can you get 3G/4g access to sim 2 ?
Thank you very much again.

South Korea uses 2100Mhz HSPA band - as does the UK where I live.

What's stopping me from (somehow) buying a Korean one and importing it for use here in the UK?
Also, any ideas how I would even go about buying something from Korea??

Willing to bet, the Korean version won't use a Micro-Sim that GSM carriers use, as they're network SK Telecom if i recall does not require the use of sim cards. Also chances are the Korean version will be locked to region specific carriers there.
Don't go for it. Their will be a lot of issues with it. Also very bad developer support, worse than American version.
There may be other hardware compatibility issues with your network.

Quite a lot of the new smartphones in Korea come with usim cards..
Don't ask me the finer details.
There are 3 major carriers in SK, two of them operate WCDMA networks.
I would not go for this phone. Like somebody else said, bad developer support.

You mean that ugly stock battery percentage that appears next to the battery icon and takes up additional space? If you have noticed, I do not have any app but actually a circles mod that can display battery percentage within the battery icon.
For the dev support I disagree, it seems they will get the same hardware as the int version only more ram and LTE support so int roms shouln'd be hard to port, am I wrong?

Speaking form experience the SIM card issue is no longer a problem, Korean phones now use SIM cards, all carriers here ( SK, KT, LG all use SIM cards)
All Android phones here as of today (SGS3 is still unknown) are sold carrier unlocked, I've used my Korean issue GalaxyS (m110s) in various countries with no issue (India/China/UK)
Problem with the Korean version is that' you'll lose FM functionality and gain a useless DMB (TV) chip instead, also it's dimensions are ever slightly larger, so getting nice cases might be slightly harder, or you'll have to order from Korea, not impossible though.
Phones can be bought off the shelf here, they're just more expensive than in Europe/US
I'm pretty sure the american version dev support will be just as good as the international.
I noticed the Verizon S3 has a mini-SIM port.. but why? I thought Verizon phones don't have SIM cards at all?
Also, is it true that the AT&T model doesn't have a SIM card port at all? How is it activated then?
Also, the T-mobile model apparently has calling-over-WiFi (uma). Does that only work on t-mobile's network or will it work overseas too?
The micro sim port is for Verizon lte. Tmobiles is also a micro sim, and I think you still have to be connected to Tmobiles network to use wifi calling. Don't know about att.

The one on the left is probably SPRINT, as they've been hard-embedding the LTE SIM card into the device to bastardize it (they're doing it with all phones).
The right is probably AT&T/TMO.

Well, the internal chipset has GSM support. You wouldn't be able to change the SIM card, I believe. You'd be stuck on VZW's expensive international roaming plans.
But for global roaming it'd only support 800 Mhz and 1900 Mhz bands, unless Verizon had them add the extra hardware.
The AT&T version uses the same frequencies as the international version.
Side by side comparison i747 and i9300
I travel quite a bit outside of the US for work, and for international travel, your best bet is the ATT version since GSM will give you the most options outside of the North America. As mentioned, Verizon may be offering some limited compatibility, but you will be stuck to their plan, whereas the ATT version (esp if unlocked) will allow you to swap chips in other countries as desired.
I say ATT because band-wise it has the most international compatible ones, and the 2100 band will help in regions like Japan and Korea that don't use standard GSM.
TMo is probably the second choice, but because they use bands like 1700 that no one else really uses, you're still better off with ATT.
The CDMA versions would be the last ones (Verizon and Sprint) since their roaming will be limited.
This is assuming you are picking from the US versions - for Canadian models, just find the carrier that matches ATT (I believe Rogers is the closest).
I'm starting to think I should just get the international version.

Is your home base in the US? Are you on an LTE network? Not sure if international version works with LTE. One reason why we have a different processor in our US phones because of LTE. A South Korean model (international version) will have LTE support but I don't know if its available.
GSM is your best bet if you live in the US. ATT or TMo. Verizon's international roaming is quite expensive.

I would go with the at&t one if you were to choose a us version. Personally if I had to pick I would just go with the international version if that where the case. I wanna see what the quadcore can do in a phone and personally I'm fine running hspa. I currently have no LTE were I'm at anyway. I have to drive like an hour to Baton Rouge for a taste lol.
By the way.... Tmobile wifi calling works anywhere there is wifi..
If you are overseas and you make a phone call back to the usa using wifi calling... Its free.. Its considered a usa to usa call....

Was just about to say this. I think you can also add an international long distance plan for a small fee (that way you can also call israeli numbers), which would make the phone work well anywhere you have wifi, then just get a prepaid sim to use while on the go. Just an idea tho.
I was only considering buying the phone here in the states and using it back home in israel with my regular carrier (Cellcom). Will the t-mobile S3 support calling-over-wifi even if I'm not on t-mobile's network?

No problem with me about nanosim. I'm looking highend looking, feeling, really good battery life, quality experience device after along time stick with Samsung ( S1 to Note 3 Duos - all plastic, scratched after some months ).
With Dual sim vatiant, I also concern dual 3G HSPA enable on both sim instead of only sim 1 on Note 3 Duos. As I read somewhere, Z3 Dual can access 3G on both sim.

Dual SIM N9100
I just bought the Dual SIM N9100 model in Shanghai. I feel I made a terrible mistake because I'm not sure a root will ever be released for this model, preventing me from ever using Google Play, where I have purchased all my software on.
If you don't need to use Google Play at all and have invested in another marketplace available in China (like Samsung's), then this phone is great. Otherwise, wait until Chainfire maybe provides a root. He did for the N9106W China model, but that's not dual sim I think.

i live in china and i can tell u the model number is N9100 and remember this version only 16Gb Internal Memory..not 32Gb like others..and the battery is not 3220mAh it's only 3000mAh
both sim support GSM only, but only the 1st sim can support 4G, the other is only support 3G (but some people said it only support 2G)
what do u mean by full active sim?unlocked?yes it is unlocked version
if u are inside china it's easy to buy the n9100 version, it cost around 5399 yuan..(estimated around $878 in my city)

Well i ve read in some sites that note 4 is standby, that's mean when you have active call in sim one sim 2 will not receive calls, and they can't call them self.
Could you please confirm that?

yeah..i just searched it..and yes..when you have active call in sim 1, sim 2 cannot receive calls, so u must use call forwarding when that happen to sim 1, vice versa. and yeah they can't call themself.

Where do you have this software?
I bought on pre-order and is running .213.
I also found a possible bug with the way the SIM coverage tower are displayed in the dual SIM phone. It appears to be interchanged. Also when I'm calling on a non-data enabled SIM the data SIM doesn't seems to be working.
Anyone have this issue?

Depends on what you do. It gets slightly hot when I'm playing games or using camera intensively.
Question to the people who are using the dual SIM version... Why is it when you make calls via the non data SIM cuts off the data completely? I means it's really annoying that I can't make any calls and use the data simultaneously.

Because the xz is not a dual active phone. It is a dual standby phone.
Both sims can "listen" for activities i.e. Wait for incoming calls but only one sim can be actively making calls/data sessions at any instance.

I'm also wondering the same... Sigh.
I flashed my SG XPERIA XZ set to 6.0.1 MY ROM and got the OTA Nougat update.
No VoLTE, reception is a tad worse. The UI lags and is a bit slower than stock 6.0.1
Flash back to SG country variant 6.0.1. Will wait and see if it's the same build on SG. If yes, I won't be updating.

Thanks for trying.. I was thinking of doing that this weekend, but you saved me a flashing
Another week passed by, no SG firmware yet ?
Hk is already out already, SG still nothing
Any news on the SG Nougat rollout?
Any info regarding the Duos version of S8 ?
Is it going to be released at the same time with the single sim ?
Is going to be an Hybrid (SDcard or second SIM) or a full dual SIM )+ sdcard ????
Thanks
Can any one confirm if sim2 is 2G Only? (when you have a s8 Duos in your hand )
The model number SM-G955FD denotes that Samsung would launch the dual-SIM variant of the Galaxy S8 Plus in India. The device is expected to feature a 6.2-inch curved Super AMOLED display with QHD resolution, an Exynos 8895 or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, a microSD card slot, iris as well as fingerprint scanners, and a USB Type-C port.

Recently, from my experience in the European, Middle Eastern and Asian versions, unless its locked or sold by any telecom company, its always a dual sim. Like the s7 and rest his soul note6 (and all A and C series).. Best way for you when its released is to buy it online from one of the top online sellers in any of these regions, and they are alot. Personally never seen a single sim version from Samsung in the last year or 2 in these regions.. Funny enough, US market is what gets the single sim always..
No, in Western Europe, it's only single sim unfortunately. We also have to buy from ebay resellers to find dual sim version. However, I'm not sure I want to spend that much money to buy a phone on ebay with limited support & warranty (the phone coming from a different region)

Galaxy S8+ Plus - All models:

Dual-Sim version is hybrid slot
Best regards
We will have to do the simcard glued on the sd card hack again then. I might even recycle the one I have got in my S7 edge dual sim
So if the hybrid tray is the same that on the S7 edge we will be able to get 2 simcards + 256gb sd card

I agree with you. I did not think the limited warranty was a big deal until I recieved a phone with a defect. As nice as it is to have a dual sim and not have to carry 2 phones, I will not be buying out of country again.

Agree too. I love my dual sim S7Edge. But I don't root anymore, and I want it to be local.
Bought 2 phones from Amazon, both went wrong, I didn't even know they were from abroad. One from Brazil, one from France. They wouldn't honour the warranty and I was £70 out of pocket both times.
Do love duos though! Just wish they would do it in the UK.

Dual sim by default?
Nope. You have to order the DUOS version. I ordered mine on ebay from UAE last week.
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
The UAE and Indian version of S8/S8+ are dual sim variants. 1st slot is SIM only, while the 2nd slot is a hybrid, where you can decide to insert either a SIM card or a MicroSD card.
Both the SIMs will be 4G (Dual 4G), unlike the S7 edge which was 4G+2G.
And no, there will not be a Duos branding on the backside of the Indian Variant, while the UAE variants do have the branding.
They are being sold online.. Only the 955FD models are dual sim. Middle East gets dual sim by default (only choice).. Go to any online shopping store (based in uae that ships overseas) and you can buy one easily.. I recommend mike&smith or mygsm (add Dubai or UAE to the Google search for the local stores results and contact them)..
Yes in Morocco we got dual SIM as well by default I was surprised when they handed me the box and read FD instead of the usual F we get

I have my S8 duo from Dubai since Saturday. You can only have one SIM as 4G whilst the other is 3G.

Whether it's right or not, who knows.

Oh, my bad then. I was misinformed. But, even 4G+3G is good for me.

Can you please confirm this? I'm in the US and 2G has been shutdown by one of my carriers. So when I switch data to the first SIM, it forces my second SIM into 2G and I get no reception. If the standby SIM on the S8 is 3G, and not 2G, that would resolve the issue for me.

Second one is definitely 3G on my phone. I am attempting to attach a screenshot for the first time so if it works you will see it.
