From what I've read, no, but people really think it's something in 5.0.2 that wreaks havoc on the memory hardware. A few people have purportedly fixed the problem by "pressing firmly" on the tablet back, suggesting that the problem may be related to heat separating parts on the motherboard. I haven't yet attempted to break down and rebuild mine yet.
I'm on stock 5.0.2 should I be worried? Is there a safer rom?
Mine is breaked since 2 weeks. It is stock with 5.0.2 with bootloader open.It only show the logo google and no power off is possible(always rebooting)
1 year and half so no warranty after a call at asus and my reseller.
I try to flash factory image manualy or with nrt but impossible to write the internal storage...

Yes, you should be worried. Knowing what I know now I would install 4.4.4. Also seriously doubting I'll buy another nexus

It could explain why the official 5.1 is not available... They did not find the bug/solution yet.
I don´t have any problems and my Nexus 7 ( 2013 ) is still alive, though I use Android 5.0.2 Maybe some of the Google Apps might be the reason for this issue. I´ve removed most Google Apps I don´t need and want ( eg. Google Drive, Google Launcher, Chrome... ) and never had any problems.
I feel sorry for the guys though who lost their Nexus devices

I suspect this also.
Having had an original Galaxy S that was destroyed by a flawed update to Froyo, once reading of this potential memory problem with the Nexus 7 , I have turned it off. I will wait until a stable 5.1 is released.
Hi,
I dont have any problems with Lollipop yet, but to play it save:
Can I flash the system.img from the 4.4.4 factory image without any data loss?
Mine bricked 6 weeks ago, right after the 5.0.2 update. it started with some random reboots and one morning, it was stuck in a bootloop. you cannot erase nor write the userdata-partition, as far as i can remember.
i was on my last days of warranty, lucky guy ... but sorry for those who are not technical versatile or out of warranty .. it is a shame ...
Should i be safe if i flash a custom rom?
I don't understand if this problem occurs only on 5.0.2 stock or also on other 5.0.2 rom.

From what I understand, this is a stock issue, custom Rom/kernel not affected
I use Multirom and have Android 4.4.4 and Android 5.0.2 installed on my device. I still use Kitkat from time to time because of the Xposed Framework and the nice extras ( eg. Youtube Adaway, Xprivacy, Gravitybox etc. ) .
I would not advise you to downgrade a OS by "dirty flashing" a lower version over a newer one; You´re just asking for trouble

Xposed for lollipop works well on n7 (2013)
is 5.1 safe? I flashed back to 4.4.4 using nexus root toolkit, easy enough but wiped device. prefer lollipop though.

Hey all,
Feel free to use this thread to discuss the recent V10m-OCT-14 Software Update for the G3. I have just received it on my International D855 Model.
Listed enhancements are:
- Apps
This update is 180MB if coming from the other latest update, v10l. You can download this update by going to your Update Center, Software Update. Or, your G3 might have already downloaded it OTA.
Personally, I find a bit more battery life, and more responsiveness coming from v10l, feel free to share your individual experiences with this update here!
Battery life is better than 10L, but it's only one day used. Will see how is in the next few days
Just installed it and rooted it with PD...works fine at the moment, downloading music from spotify and such, let's see how it behaves in a few days time. V10L still had the noises while charging...expecting 10m to have the same issue.
Any KDZ File?
Thank's

A few hours of usage 10M seems on par with 10L, same performance noting special. Guess we will have to see, the newer kernel build date suggests that some tweaks and updates are present and we are always grateful for tweaks

:good: Cool. I can't wait OTA.
@ Mr Bo
Thank's , flash in progress.
Does this update resolves the "Hissing and buzzing sound with headset/AUX" issue ?
Still don't see the M for my IMEI / Region (India) yet. Waiting !
Hissing noise is likely to be hardware so don't hold your breath for a software fix. They obviously didn't adequately shield headphone socket from the charging/battery.
Blimey, I only just got around to flashing v10L.
Is there a way to install the OTA update for someone who has TWRP recovery installed without getting stuck inn the recovery on reboot ? Fortunately, there is a fix to get out of the recovery but the OTA doesn't install when returning back to system.

I can cancel this issue with some tricks (USB or call trick). The G2 did have this issue with kk4.4.2 ant it was resolved with the 4.4.4. So i m still waiting an update or an aosp rom.

Tried this?
That's how I install L. Worked fine, just lost root (which TWRP fixed), DPI was changed back to stock (I fixed that) and it reinstalled a little bloatware (McAfee) which Titanium took care of.
That is, of course, if you can get the KDZ.
I can't see any serious difference after weeks of using ".i" version... always flashing with CSE option.
phone works great, very smooth, battery life for around 5-6h of screen awake

We're probably gonna have to wait for that a bit more. I'm currently on CM12, cause I don't like the stock limitations, so it will most likely pass a few days till they rebuild CM12 and include what 5.1 has brought new, so I'll stick with what I've got right now, which is 5.0.2.
So, we'll see some flashable ROMs based on Android 5.1 after a few minutes, hours, days, depending on how fast the developers move.
EDIT: If you're on stock, when the update comes out, the best move is to update your device through OTA, not with flashable zips.

What issues are those? I've seen very few reports of those types of issues with the 3rd gen. Obviously, those things happens to a small portion of users on almost every Android phone.
screen on time is decent, but could be better. I'd love to find a permissive kernel I could tweak...anyone up for it??
Im still running the release version firmware. Had night mode since release so i wonder apart from stagefright what the UK release will bring?
Does anyone have this as a flashable zip yet?

my personal experience with an 8gb model was a hot skillet in just 3 minutes on wifi or lte network plus doing some search i found a lot of users reporting the same issue so its not a very small percent it is a known issue maybe some users dont report it or dont care about it but it really gets hot. maybe some batchs maybe the 8gb model who knows!
every phone have small issues some related to hardware some related to software thats why i asked if the upgrade fix this one
but a phone that turns in to a hot skillet its not safe to use.

This OTA does not load itself if you have a custom recovery. To avail of this OTA the phone should have the STOCK recovery.
Unlocked bootloader does not matter, but being on STOCK recovery is must for the update to recognize the fingerprint and load the OTA.
After changing the custom recovery to STOCK recovery, phone is stuck at blank screen after the OTA update. Trying to figure out what to do.
Any suggestions?

No worry. Here is the solution. Flash STOCK firmware....

Hi, thank you.
Which stock rom did you use from the link? There are two there for the xt1550. I guess the one with the 23.72-47_cid7(Newer Build) is the one?
If you could elaborate what you did it would help others.

US carriers seem to be much slower pushing out updates. Since they mostly use foreign support it makes little sense. I work for the same company as my carrier, but different division and word I have is they aren't pushing out the update for this phone because the phone isn't in their list of devices yet. BTW, I'd be curious if anyone actually knows someone that got the stagefright bug. You have as big a chance to get struck by lightning as you are in getting stagefright. Anything with Kit Kat or later makes it almost impossible for stagefright to replicate on their phone.

The Moto G 3rd gen is sold in the US fully unlocked with no carrier branding. So the carriers don't push out the updates. Motorola generally pushes their updates to India first but the US usually comes soon after.

No you can't is the short answer, I tried and failed
I believe the Marshmallow update re-sizes the partitions and that's causing the problems.

The main difference for me is the adaptive storage but I've just bought a USB 3.0 HDD and I'm fairly happy with it, lots of storage and it's not really causing any lag like my SD card did. I have noticed a couple of crashes in the last few weeks which never happened on lollipop but it's nothing that a reboot didn't solve and they're not constant.
If an app doesn't work then that's the biggest issue. If the developer is good then it'll get updated (hopefully) but it's a real pain if you use an app and all of a sudden you can't use it. Only you can make that call if you know an app won't work yet.
The other thing I'd say is if you're happy with the device as it is and don't need any of the features marshmallow brings (let's be honest, doze etc is pointless as the shield is plugged in) then leave it. If it isn't broke don't fix it
I was able to downgrade back to the 2.1 firmware from 3.2. I posted my steps in the 2.1 firmware thread.
Hello how are you?
I was bothering you to ask them a question, is it possible to downgrade the Moto X Style Pure?
2 months ago I updated it to Android 7 and it was the worst mistake I could make the phone was slow it takes to open any application, its crash, I restart it 3 or 4 times a day.
Is there any way to go back to Android 6 so we can install LineageOs Oficial?
Thank you so much.

Yes it is possible.

System sparsechunk files could be more - download .zip for your model/region and you will see.
Downgrade: without gpt and bootloader partitions( don't flash 2nd & 3rd line).
After downgrade you cannot allow any ota update.

i tried the downgrade too but made the mistake of installing OTA upgrades. it totally hardbricked my phone. after a few days of trying it's still 99% unresponsive and only shows a black screen. i'm on the brink of giving it up although it pains me because it's a good phone and seeing it dead by software is not how a phone should end
