yeah well they said they could unlock it in the shop for £20 but really skint at moment and just trying to save a few quid if a shop can do it there must be a way
1. Downgrade the modem (at minimum) or ROM (at maximum) to Android 4.2.2 using Odin.
2. Root.
3. Install and run RegionLock Away.
4. Restore the original modem or ROM using Odin.
5. Insert your SIM.
If not immediately prompted to enter an unlock code, you were successful. Otherwise, you'll have to pony up cash for an unlock code.

thanks how do I downgrade the modem ?? also once rooted can it be put back to its normal state as my updates wont work now (thanks guys)
RegionLock Away is that in the apps store yes??
Look in S4 General for a thread with links to the modems. After getting your modem, look in the Towelroot thread on S4 General. Use the instructions there to downgrade the modem. If desired, use Towelroot to root. RegionLock Away is found on XDA. Search for it. Once done with the app, restore your original modem.

That means you need to downgrade to 1.32 before you can do anything.

I dont know what rooted is thats why I took it to a shop to get unocked so I'm guessing no one knows the anwser
to unlock ur Simlock u will have to root ur phone to gain write access to patch / alter the file and have gone through the downgrade process to 1.32 FW. A shop prolly wont do that process for you as they tend to do the exact opposite and flash a non rooted Rom.
thanks, im new to this so this has really helped me.

I too experienced problems unlocking my I337M device (not AT&T, it's the Canadian version, hence the "M" in device model). After trying the keypad menu method and failing, I tried sending my IMEI number into a website to generate a key, but apparently the Samsung servers were experiencing a global delay and they refunded me after two days. (This delay was confirmed from multiple sources.) I then tried a tethered method using an application offered by an unlocking website. It cost $15 (compare at $35 for the IMEI method) and it worked instantly! This was after two days' worth of trying other methods. I won't give you the exact link, but if you google "fastgsm", it should come up. Make sure it's the tethered method. Good luck.
thanx!

The FASTGSM website says:- Warning
Check your phone’s software version by going to Settings > About device. If Baseband version ends with MI1 or later (e.g. MJ1), your phone is not supported for USB unlocking. Use a different unlock method or downgrade your phone’s firmware.
And iam on mf3. So i think it should work!( f comes before i)
I used the FastGSM tethered method, and it worked on my MF3 stock rooted rom. Granted, I do not have MF3 bootloaders, but it otherwise seemed to work. The instructions included inside the program have you dial *#0808#, but other instructions (like the ones on their website) have to go and install a bunch of crap to your phone and dial some other number, but I found the *#0808# will get you straight to the options you need to switch your phone over to DM mode. Also don't forget to switch it back to MTP + ADB (or MTP-only if you don't want ADB debugging on).
EDIT: also make sure you have a completely unfiltered network connection. I tried it on my work's "guest" wireless that has far fewer restrictions, but it blocks something within FastGSM's app that reaches out to their servers right before performing the unlock. It's a safety to avoid them handing out a bunch of free unlocks.
Also! I forgot that I didn't have a 100% success. It didn't unlock the phone by itself, but it did at least provide me the network unlock code. I manually entered this on my phone and it worked the first time. Don't try entering the code multiple times if it doesn't work the first time! Save a copy of the log it makes, but don't post it here (includes IMEI).

I have tried using their usb method and it didnt work and they give me full refund.
I tried free method many many many times with original firmware and the lastest and it failed everytime. I even got the unlock code from att and it also didnt work. I was able to get my phone replaced because of the unlock code didnt unlock the phone. They gave me hard time but i was able to get replacement.
The replacement had the latest firmware, so i didnt try the free method or usb unlock, i just got the code from att and it worked. The free unlock method def. does something that prevents the phone from being unlocked.

This is exactly how I have unlocked all of my devices on AT&T. I just chat with international support, tell them I am going out of country and would like to use my phone there. They ask for the IMEI and within a minute give me an unlock code. Never had anyone say no, and never had issues. Unlocked S2, S3, S4, Atrix. All phones except S3 purchased on contract and still no problems.
Idk why anyone would pay $35 for something that is so easy and free and the unlock code is guaranteed to work.

Seeing how you are on the MF3 currently there is no way to flash another rom or custom recovery, your best bet would be go through att to get the unlock code.
But it won't even let me get into the service menu. I tried the codes and process they say online and it does nothing. Can someone explain why it won't budge and how and when it will be fixed?

I ported my # over from AT&T today to Straight Talk. At first it didn't like the new sim card, but after my # was ported and a few reboots the message didn't come up anymore. I now have phone & data service running on it, even though I was still under contract for a previous device (S3). I called AT&T and after a lengthy call, they said I didn't need an unlock code if I was getting service OK from Straight Talk. My old APN info is still there for them along with the one I created for 'ST'. I have no way of deleting the old APN, and who knows where, or if I'll get updates from. My only other option was to get the Google Edition S4, but I payed full price for the one I got now. Hopefully the bootloader issue will get cracked before long and I can get this ATT crap off my phone for good.
Network lock
I want to share something, could get passed the first screens all the way down to the network lock menu, no sha off options.
Haven't seen any posts regarding this.

It's been mentioned that region unlock has had a positive affect on the Sim unlock.
However Sim unlock and region unlock are totally different from one another.I used the free unlock method when I was MDL and only used the region unlock with MF3 .will I ever really know if the region unlock worked?probably never.

Hey Guys,
I bought my Phone in the Philippines,
And im over in the UK for vacation and to visit home, but forgot that my Phone was locked to "Globe ph" which is one of the Philippines cell providers, im rooted, and on Lollipop right now (ACIP ROM), Im just wondering, does anyone know of any methods to network unlock my phone?
It seems most guide are for Android 4.2...Do i really need to downgrade? Or would it work if i downgraded, did the patch to unlock and then put android 5.0 back on?
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks

I have yet to flash 5.0 but I did flash BTU firmware over O2 firmware and the unlock remained.
Are we talking a region lock, or a SIM lock?
Removing a region lock can be done without a downgrade. Root, then install RegionLock Away and run it.
A SIM lock requires a downgrade because the exploits which permit the unlock methods to work were patched or removed in KitKat. Downgrade to 4.2.2, root, then install RegionLock Away and run it. Then install the KitKat ROM through Odin, twice as the WiFi and sound won't work properly after the first install. If you need more detail, just ask. I used this process to unlock my I9505.

Hi I managed to unlock my Sim Strephon with Regionaway. Because it was locked before when I tested it in the shop. I was on 4.4.2 I did read your post about downgrade. But the downgrade failed for me on Odin.
That's really odd. RegionLock Away failed to unlock the SIM on 4.4.2 for me, but downgrading, rooting, and running RegionLock Away worked. What about my S4 is different from yours?

Mine was from the UK as well, though I don't know the original carrier as when it was sold to me by the original owner on Swappa, it was already unlocked and had a Ukranian ROM on it. It's possible that the issues I had which prompted me to have to run RegionLock Away in the first place may have contributed to that software not unlocking the SIM, though it did remove the region locking as it was supposed to.
Regardless, we both have our phones unlocked, and hopefully the OP can get his unlocked, using either method.
Im going to downgrade my Android version, and then post the results,
I had a Network Lock...My Phone was locked to a Network carrier in the Philippines,

Good luck ! :good: forgot which android version i was.
The one by chainfire didnt worked for me. maybe it works in your device.
If he has his SIM from his home carrier with him, then the Service Menu method should work. Otherwise, he'll have to use the RegionLock Away method. I generally recommend the RegionLock Away method anyway, simply because it avoids the need to access the Service Menu, but either method should work to get done what he needs done.
Hi, I have a samsung s4 9505. as it's a spare I decided to play arOundle with the firmware so I installed the latest stock one. Its now locked to EE. Is there any firmware / Rom that I can install without it being tied to ee. If so , where can I download it from. Do any of you guys have one. I am uk based. I have tried the unlock method that I found on the net. By keying in *#0011# but I can't get the service menu up to change it. I had a insurance claim on my other phone and that give you the choice to use whoever you want. Is there a way of cloning that one and putting it onto my s4. There both S4 9505.
Thanks
You need to downgrade your modem or possibly the entire ROM to an Android 4.2.2 version before the service mode exploit or RegionLock Away will work. Once you do that and unlock the S4, download this ROM and install it. Then you should be good to go.
Thank you for the reply, can you link me to the downgrade the rom to andriod 4.4.2 , I'm not that techy so please be gentle . Lol

I tell ya my opinion. The best you can do is unlock your device by IMEI buying a simple code coz downgrading is always one big risk.
I have tried 2 online unlocking company's but both said they can't generate the code.
