[Q] How to access google account backup? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys I've just updated my phone with stock LP with factory reset. After first boot I had a step which allowed me to choose one of my backed up devices (It was the fisrt time I saw this in my life) and four of them were LG G2s (probably form different rom installations.
My question is : how can I access this data over the web? Is there a manager for it ? I don't even know what data is backed up ( I guess applications as it allowed me to choose which applications should it download).

Go here https://www.google.com/settings/dashboard?pli=1 and hit expand all then find there whatever you want/need. However, you can't extract that data but you can find apps in Play Store, phone history (location and such) etc., manage/delete old or inactive G2s (from previous ROM installations) and so on.

[Q] Frequent ROM flashers - what's your transition M.O.?

Flashed a single ROM, RG1.6, getting ready start flashing various ROMs now that I know more. I have 3 gmail accounts and many apps. I plan to use titanium to back up. I went to privacy and allowed data to be backed up to google servers. I do't know what the heck it's backing up (account names and passwords, etrc?) but they say it makes getting up and running with a new ROM faster. I want to develop a recipe for quick backups to make my flashing life easier. I assume frequent rom testers have this down pat because they dont want to waste time.
1. titanium batch backup apps and data, system apps + data ( i assume later i can choose not to restore system apps and data, but, just in case)
1b. maybe do a second round with mybackup pro? this app says it restore BETWEEN diff types of rom, I dont know if titanium claims this (i.e. between ext3, 4, or between aosp, mysense, sense, etc)
2. run SMS backup + restore, a free market app that backs up SMS to SD card in XML format it seems.
3. run APN backup, a free app from the market, just to make APN restore easier
4. make a backup of my SD card in case i bork everything and have to suddenly format the onboard SD
5. stick (in my next case) royal ginger 2.1 on my SD
6. reboot to CWM3024 (newly reflashed to be safer with the cant mount cache E errors)
7. follow ckisgen instructions in RG2.1 post to wipe all the caches etc,
8. install from zip, pick the zip
9. let it go, follow post instructions on 2 reboots, letting it sit, so on.
10. sign in to google with my main gmail account.
11. (?) will it then restore my other gmail account and settings since I selected "google servers backup" under privacy section in the royal ginger 1.6 rom?
11b. (?) will it then restore all my market apps for the same reason?
12. use titatium to batch? restore apps and data, but not system app and data
13. install APN backup + restore from market (or it will already be there) to put my apn data back
14. same with SMS backup + Restore app
15. what the heck did i forget?
I want to be like a nascar pit stop. Weet! Weeeet Weeet! Safe but fast. Done. Anything you guys would change with this?
Thanks
Ive never known why so many ppl love titanium.....seems slow and unpolished to me. In any case i change roms every few days. my routine is something like this
1. Download My Backup Pro......Set it up to auto backup what things u may want in the future on other roms. For me its bookmarks and apps. thats it. Does it by itself every night.
2. Nand backup my current rom (if i liked it and might want to come back)
3. Wipe everything. Data/cache/dalvik/format system/format boot
4. Flash new rom
5. Log in and sync my google account
6. Download my backup pro and let it work. its all automated and quick so within 10 mins i can have a new rom running with everything i had before and my backup pro saves app data so it already knows to continue the cycle of saving my info each evening.
Hope this helps
ps. the answer to both questions on 11 is yea it should. dont see why it wouldnt. although if u have certain apps u want quickest sometimes its best to go and cancel the download and restart it if your not on wifi.
Ive never used mybackup pro before & just want to make sure if im bckin up the correct stuff.. Do I choose the option to bckup apk & data or do I just bckup apk??

either is fine. adding the data means it will be a bigger save file but u wont lose anything youve done. i usually pick apk + data unless its a file i dont need or have any data with. For now backup everything u could ever need. (u wont need your old sms or mms messages, {or contacts if they are synced with google} pictures shouldnt need backing up, etc...u get the idea) For me thats as i said before bookmarks and apps mainly, my dictionary, music playlists....

So just to be sure MyBackupPro will restore apps/data between various ROM types without issue - froyo/gb/etc?
All the work involved with restoring all apps from various places (market/amazon) and all the user settings is what keeps me from trying out more roms - so definitely interested in this thread and any other tips about how to get things switched over quickly...

Ummm, what?
You've got a CM10.1 nightly ROM with a Motley kernel, and you want to know "how do I get the upgrade"?
Upgrade to what, stock 4.2.2? How would that be an upgrade? It's a completely unrelated ROM!
Look, there are ROMs that are just a little too different to be exchanging body parts between. In some cases - for instance a steady progression of closely related ROMs, e.g. CM10.1 nightlies - you can just flash the new ROM over the top of the old without performing any wipes. But I wouldn't ever blindly mix all of /data between a stock and CM ROM.
Overflashing without a wipe will replace /system and the boot image but preserve:
- Market Apps & their data
- Data from (former?) System Apps & frameworks --- but their corresponding app at the same version may not be installed
It's the last bit that is the troublesome part, and it's why I said "steady progression of closely related ROMS". If the ROM being replaced is not a recent ancestor of the new ROM, you could have -
missing system apps (data present but no app for it) -- not too much of a problem
data present for a system app which is version mis-matched with the replacement System App (can be a problem)
Anyway, there are combinations of ROMs which are so far apart from each other, either in their frameworks or versions of Pre-installed apps, or their expectations of settings found in /data that it's just not a good idea to "overflash" one ROM on top of the data from another - there's just too large a chance of developing all sorts of troubles.
In those cases, you need a "completely New ROM" strategy:
- You make a FULL Nandroid backup of the existing ROM and get it stored off of the N7 someplace; this is for disaster recovery. Who knows - you might not like the new stuff, so it will let you go back to exactly where you were.
- You back up only Market Apps and their data from the old ROM; when they get restored, they will certainly match each other. You can use Titanium Backup (for root users) or the Carbon App (for non-root users) for this purpose. Also other** misc. backups.
- You perform a factory reset to wipe /data (excluding /data/media on the N7)
- You flash the new ROM, and boot it as a brand new device, entering your Google Creds
- Market Download (or sideload from prior backups) Titanium Backup or Carbon (depending on what you used)
- Restore your Market Apps and associated data.
- Reboot once. If you get warnings about "UID mismatch", you need to boot into a custom recovery again and run the "fix permissions" option in the custom recovery.
- Tweak or re-do settings as needed.
** there are some things that can be separately backed up with other apps such as SMS/MMS messages, APN settings, Bookmarks, etc. Or, Launcher/Home apps that let you save & restore your homescreen layouts. Feel free to experiment, or look at the TiBu capabilities here.
You can probably get away with overflashing newer ROMs within the same minor release group without wiping data. For instance, near-stock 4.2.1 -> 4.2.2 or 4.2.3, but not something like 4.1.2 -> 4.2.1. Same thing with CM - anything within the 10.1 grouping might be perfectly fine, but you certainly wouldn't want to overflash a CM9 ROM with a CM10 ROM (for example). At some point it is simply the better idea to install a ROM as if it were completely new, and then restore market apps & data back into that ROM.
If you want to try Pure Stock with "your data", go ahead and install it as above: start out as if it were a completely new tablet, and then finish up with TiBu or Carbon to install market apps & data from backup.
** Whether or not to use Google Cloud service to backup/restore "settings" is a good question; it would be nice if it could be restricted to just generic Android settings alone, but it wants to re-install all your market apps as downloads, too. This will exacerbate "UID mismatch" problems, as you will be restoring them from TiBu or Carbon.

That is a fantastic response and I can only thank you for taking so much time to answer my question, after reading that I understand why mix and matching is a bad idea. Either way thanks alot for the response, I think I will backup my apps and media and completely wipe/reflash a new ROM. Thanks again buddy, much appreciated.

How to find associated data location of an apk?

Is there any app/method to achieve this ? I think it would be a generic app, if it exists. But I own a stock Moto G4. Hence, method specific to this device would also suffice.
For example, Fifa Mobile is installed in my device. Now I want to know where are all the associated data, so I can manually copy from the location. I know there are some tools like TItanium Backup or other ( I dont remember), but I guess, those work on rooted device and they simply backup the whole data+apk.
Ok, first off, my G4 is stock and not rooted.
I use File Manager from ZenUI, Asus Computer inc, available at the play store.
Once installed look in the phone's main memory, in the Android folder, sub folder Data.
fifamobile should be there...

Question -how to backup phone/apps/etc

hi all,
i'm an alltime iOs'er.... but please don't let distract the purpose of this thread and become a debate or comparision discussion
Having updated my new Android love (Le Max 2 x821) to Android 7.1.2, I spent the whole day yesterday downloading my preferred apps, organising my dashboard, changing my settings and preferences...etc
Now I have been browsing the forum and am actually wanting to change the ROM I selected and play around with other ROMs etc, but I don't want to have to reorganise all my apps in the relevant folders or redownload all of them.... its a pain!!!
I have been searching without luck for the past few hours on how I can backup the phone in "itunes" style, i.e all apps, settings and messages/photos/etc backed up to my computer, where once a new ROM is updated (as I read many require to fully wipe to factory settings) - I can "one click" restore.
thanks to the android "all timers" who have probably already cracked this!
Dirty flash or use titanium backup and don't wipe your internal storage.

How can i fully back my phone with all settings and apps?

Hi all,
I have S8 with stock android and many applications installed on it some of them are payed etc... Is it possible to fully backup my phone with all settings wallpapers, sms-es, apps and everything? Then to wipe all data on it to be like a new one, and after that to restore the image and the phone to be like today with all apps settings and eeeeverything
The idea is that phone will be used temporarily from another person for some weeks but i dont want to loose my apps.
Thanks
Hi,
As far as I know, if you're not rooted, you have to use Samsung Kies or another software on PC to backup everything.
Personally, I use SMS & Call log Backup, My App List to backup/restore all applications with Google Play (purchased items too) and I have to open every application I'm using to make individual exports to SD card if the application offers it but that's not efficient...
So I will root and then use Titanium backup to backup everything with one click (app + settings).
Sincerely,
