[Q] i9500 - what happens if I flash a different region ROM - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am wondering if I can flash a different region ROM (original one not a custom) onto my i9500. I have been flashing the AFG region ones (currently I9500XXUGNF6 - Android 4.4.2) and want to get the Lollipop one on but they are taking forever to release it and I don't want to factory reset my phone with the existing ROM and find a day later the new version is out! (I need to factory reset for a variety of reason).
I'm using it in English mode so language isn't an issue.
If it will work, which region is likely to be similar to AFG's one? I assume each ROM has a radio with it so obviously I'll need one similar (I'm actually in Australia but the phone was imported because the i9500 was never brought to Australia).
Any help; would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Ian

You should try flashing a Russian ROM, the modem they use should give you no trouble.

[Q] T-Moible Galaxy Tab flashing

Hi
Ive recently been gifted a T-mob samsung galaxy tab. I had a few questions about the same, would be very glad if someone could answer them for me
1) Is it possible to flash it with Indian/Asian firmware? I did some reading aand found out that flashing with euro firmware is possible, so this sould also be possible? If so, can someone point me as to where i might get more info on this?
2) Once flashed, and connected via Kies, if a new firmware of that region is released, would it automatically update to the new version or it will have to be done manually again?
3) Is it possible to flash back to original t-mob firmware should i need to avail warranty in the future?
you help is appreciated.

Flashing to Asian firmware is possible. I did it with Korean Firmware. However, it is useless in U.S. Market. If you are trying to flash it due to language, I would look for other solution rather than changing the whole rom.

Most likely it will need to be done manually.

Yes it is possible to flash back to T-mob firmware. Check Rotohammer's Roto backup process.

LTE and ROMs from other countries.

My phone currently runs 4.3 but I'm thinking about upgrading to 4.4.2. My phone's localization is SEB. However SEB version of the rom is not released yet. As a result, I'm thinking of upgrading my ROM using BTU or some other version. This raised some questions for me:
1. If I flash 4.4.2 from BTU (or some other version of it) could I use LTE not only in UK but in the baltic states. In other words, if the ROM belongs to other country could I still use LTE at home? Or will LTE work only in the country the ROM is built for?
2. If I flash 4.4.2 using Odin (from BTU), would I still get OTA updates? I've heard that both region and software region must match to get OTA. Is this true?
3. Should I recalibrate my battery after flashing 4.4.2? I've heard that after flashing every new ROM battery should be recalibrated in order to reach the best performance.
4. Which of the ROMs (BTU, XEF etc) has the least amount of bloat?
Thanks in advance.

You can flash any country ROM supporting LTE.
You can use LTE anywhere if your ROM supports LTE.
It's wrong that both region must match, COMPLETELY WRONG.
You can find an Ultimate-List of firmwares in sammobile.com in firmwares section.

Flashing other country's firmware?

I am in Thailand and have NH1 firmware.
Would I get any benefit from flashing a newer firmware?
For example India has NH6 firmware.
Can I flash another country's firmware on my phone?
And, does it give any benefits?
When looking at custom ROMS many of them say they need a certain firmware before being installed.
(though they also are very buggy at the moments so I doubt I want to flash them anyway .. LOL)
Thank You
There are not any major changes in newer versions they fix some bugs thats it however you can't just flash some different countries firmware it may cause bootloop and sometimes even soft bricks ...
Edit :- there are some methods where you can flash them safely for eg changing your CSC however I don't recommend it do it on your own risk ....Here's a link to change csc

Well, I am no expert but I have flashed Indian firmware to my grand 2 whic was actually bought from Saudi Arabia. It still works fine. Similarlly, on my previous phone which I bought from Pakistan, I flashed KSA firmware that worked fine too. So, I guess only options for available languages change and nothing else gets affected adversly. Experts, kindly, express your opinion for further clarification.

[Q] How to signal lollipop 5.0.1

Hey all
I am unfortunate to have the UK N910F phone (PDAN910FXXU1ANK6 and CSCN910FH3G1ANK1) as this has not received the lollipop update. I have not rooted the phone and don't really want to root as some apps will not work with root I. E. Banking apps.
My question is there a international Rom that I could flash with Odin as I tried a lollipop rom with the wrong PDA and CSC (PDA N910FXXU1BOC3 CSC N910FVFG1BOC2) and that just bricked the phone, luckily samfirmawre had my original 4.4.4 Rom so my phone is OK
Many Thanks
Alexndr's BOC3 ROM will allow you to keep your current CSC:

Answering your question. There is German soft for n910f on sammobile. I flashed it via odin and it works just fine.
Be careful
About your question, be careful with that, if you have your phone from a carrier (including if you unlocked it), be careful because, for example, here in Spain if you have your phone with Vodafone and you change the ROM to a non-VF, you may notice that your payment by NFC won't work. BTW I works with some banks in europe and I had no problem with whatever o their apps changing the ROM to a official from another country (nor to a custom rom, but that's your choice), now I have your same model, bought unlocked to samsung with the indian ROM from sammobile

[Q] 5.0 Factory ROM?

Noob here.
5.0 OTA update I got seems to be corrupt. Never rooted my phone. After the update I got the unlock boot screen and I have no cell or data service. Cool.
Resetting through software doesn't work. Hardware seems to be okay. I need to reflash via Odin but I'm not sure what ROM I should use. Tried two so far and got binary errors on both. Currently downloading the JasmineROM v1.0 hoping that it will work.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Normal would be to flash the stock rom for your phone from sammobile .
Factory Rom ??
Hey m8.
If you want to stick with stock rom tell me your country and network provider and I'll send you the link to the rom. If you want to change the rom to something different (ie different country rom or country generic rom instead of network rom ) and still remain stock then pm me and ill send you the info.
