I just switched my plan over to this plan yesterday. We are saving $30 off our old plan and we get UNLIMITED 4g (no more throttling) plus the 5gb (we were at 1gb data) Hotspot! Hey if im able to save some cash I thought I would throw this out to you guys and gals. They also have a 4 lines for $100 splitting up 10gb of data! I hope this hasn't been posted and I can help some people save some cash!

I think I am going back to the 4 lines for $100. I only need 3 numbers but no need to get 4 to get good data. Also there is no corporate discount on the 2 for $100.

That's a sweet deal. I got my note 4 on t-mobile when the deal first came out and I got to tell you it's awesome not having to deal with going over on your data. Every month I clock about 15gigs of data use. When I was on at&t my data was 300mb a month. Paying more than I do now. That was really pathetic.

But but what about my LTE =/
Still though with decent HSPA speeds that is not too shabby at all.

I meant to put UNLIMITED 4gLTE. It is a great deal!! I havent been to happy with T mobile just having 1gb data (hard times) but now im paying less for more! SWEEEET!
I'm on this plan with my wife with her LG G3 and both phones with the hacked hotspot for unlimited tethering saving lots of money!!!
Perfect timing

I was just in a T-Mobile store yesterday talking about the 2 lines for $100 policy. I'm switching after over 2 decades suffering under Verizon (it had better coverage in the weird corner of Princeton I lived in than anybody else, but I just moved to Jacksonville, FL and all of the companies have good coverage). I'm getting a new Note 4 and my wife is inheriting my Galaxy S4 to replace her Galaxy S III (already rooted and safestrapped to get around Verizon's nasty bootloader locking) or she might get a new S5, but I've heard very mixed reviews about the mechanical/electronic dependability of the S5 and it doesn't seem enough of an advance over the S4 for us to spring for a new handset.
After Verizon's costs and modding restrictions, a T-Mobile phone version will be a breath of fresh air.

I wasn't told about the 4 lines for $100. I can use 2 and it wouldn't hurt to have 3 with another of my phones as a spare. You implied something about a corporate discount on the 4 line program. Since my Note 4 will be officially owned by my LLC and used as much for business as anything else, I would be curious if this applies to me. Could you please explain further?
This is the best deal out for those who want unlimited data! I took advantage a while back when I found out about it!

Hey no problem at all, I know everyone is always looking for a good deal so I thought I should spread the news.
I was told by the t mobile guy that the promotion was only supposed to go through March, but it got to popular to end. He said it should be stopping at the end of April. So hurry up people and get unlimited 4g lte
Yeah I was a T-Mobile pre-paid customer since 2012. I was officially on T-Mobile in 2011 but hard times hit me. I started out sharing my wife's Galaxy S 4G, then I got a second line for my Nexus S/Amaze 4G/HD2. I used all three depending on how I felt and ultimately stayed with the Amaze 4G until I got a Droid DNA. After buying and selling phones I finally went in the T-Mobile store in February and got two Galaxy Note 4's and I got the 4 lines for well it's $180. However all 4 lines are unlimited with all having the 5GB hotspot. However 4 lines with 10GB of data to share for $100 is better since everyone uses WiFi accept me. I may switch to that plan instead. Thanks for the heads up

I am definitely going with T-Mobile before the end of the month. I'm switching my wife from her Galaxy S III to my rooted and re-rom'd Galaxy S4, (which I think is better made than the Galaxy S5 and infinitely superior to the new SamAppleSung GalAppleAxy iS6) and getting a Note 4 for myself. Maybe (startup business expenses being what they are), I can get her a new Note 4 as well. The only delay is that I'm starting 2 new LLCs for freelance work and want to get the phone account and especially the Note 4 officially through the LLC (Limited Liability Company) that will control all capital assets for my freelance business. I need to get the state to okay the paperwork and get my state and fed EINs first. That's why I was curious about possible corporate discounts.
BTW, if you do freelance work on computers (or any other partnership or business), start one LLC for your primary business and another to own and lease equipment. Buy all of your company's physical assets through the second and then lease the assets at a nominal rate to the first. Even if the company actually doing the business gets sued, all it actually owns is the business name, possible intellectual property, and customer goodwill. Your computers, printers, mobile devices, etc. technically belong to another LLC that is isolated from the one that fronts your business. They can't be attached if the business's LLC loses a lawsuit. This way, both LLCs are protected from any legal action against you personally, you are protected from any action against either LLC, and they are both protected against actions taken against the other.
[disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, so ABSOLUTELY check with one before taking this advice - especially since LLC regulations differ widely by state. But, I have been a freelance software development consultant for a good four decades, creating C-Corps, S-Corps, and LLCs in different states, and have been advised by many lawyers, accountants, and other consultants on the safest ways to do business]. Also, if you elect C-Corp taxation for your primary LLC and don't pay your 941 monthlies (medicare and soc-sec deductions), you can find yourself personally liable. Also make sure your state's LLC laws protect you from something called a "charging order" - uncommon as they are.]
Even if you are working for an employer, are retired, or are unemployed, you can still create an LLC to own and protect all of your assets - your home, your car your investments, your physical possessions, etc (you just have to do it BEFORE you get sued as otherwise the court or IRS will see it as a dodge and disallow it). Check it out - each state is different. Just be sure to check an attorney or cpa first to see whether you can have a "foreign" LLC without needing to register it in your own state as a foreign business (which can get expensive). Some internet businesses can literally choose which state they want to establish their LLC in - WY is by far the best and cheapest and doesn't report managers' or members' names to the IRS.
I also been on this plan since December with my wife LG G3, both phones with unlimited hotspot hack for tethering.
That right there saves you lots of money if you use TMobile as your main internet in your home which I have tested works fine on PS4 and XBox One.
I'm on the 4 line version of this $180 for four lines unlimited LTE and 5gb hot spot tethering each. Saved me $20/mo, and gained +2gb hot spot on two of the lines (up from 3gb to 5gb)
The 4 lines for $100 would have been awesome, but need unlimited LTE. So it's basically add $20 extra per line for unlimited LTE.
I just got out of the 3 unlimited for $140. Discount is not allow on this deal. I purposely get another line so now I can get 4 for $100 and 15% off with govt email.

Just curious to see how many have pre ordered and if you are moving from an international to the ATT version.
I have not preordered, but I am interested in the ATT version due to prevalent LTE where I live. I will wait to see all of the reviews and user feedback before getting one. I will most likely keep my current GNote since it gets updates from DBT and HSPA+ and battery life are great. I have a skyrocket that I will sell if I get the LTE version.
I did see a list of the apps that will be loaded on the ATT version and it is nice to have a version without all the bloat!
What's the big deal about LTE? I live in Europe, and I just get HSPA+ so I can't comment about it, but do you guys really tether THAT much to require those kinds of speeds? :S Don't get me wrong, the faster the better, but I paid 535 euros for my unlocked device. I don't think I could shove out any more money for the same model with a different radio and minus a hardware button.
So ... do you tether THAT much? I have unlimited data and I have tethered all of 3 times and that's because ADSL was down for an hour. Lol. I'd imagine LTE on the actual phone doesn't make much of a difference while mobile browsing or emailing as they're such small packets.

I do not tether at all personally. I have a Verizon LTE myfi for my work laptop. LTE is quite prevalent hometown (Dallas- Fort Worth) and in my Homestate of Texas where most larger cites have it. I have an unlimited LTE plan and have a skyrocket. I love my International GNote and will keep this one and probably sell my skyrocket. LTE is quite fast (20-60 mbps) and if I am going to use the GNote as my full time phone, I want LTE. I video call with my children when traveling in Texas without having to rely on the hotel wifi or hooking up my work wifi. If I want to stream netflix I do it over wifi, since I do not want to hog the bandwidth.
Keep in mind this is my plan which is based on the LTE version here having stellar reviews. As far as the cost, I do not have many others hobbies since I have young kids and a wife lol! My wife is understanding of my phone & watch addictions. Besides, if she is really good, she may get my International GNote to try out!
There is a att note forum now. Go look there for all the preorders threads. There are plenty.

I have unlimited on an international Note. It is very easy to hit 2 gigs on HSDPA. With ATT sending out texts to those who use as tether as little as 2 gigs, I'm not sure if the LTE model is for me. I'd hate to lock in a contract only to have ATT breathing down my neck if I actually use LTE. Surely flying past 2 gigs would be very easy at those speeds. No thanks.

2 gigs? In DFW, I think the LTE texts start at around 5 gigs. 2 gigs would suck. That is not hard to do at all on hspa+ Seems wifi is everywhere where I live. I do agree the gigs can fly by faster on LTE. I have considered the new 5 gig plan with tethering but 50 bucks...

Oh helllllll no!!! LTE without unlimited access (and by unlimited, I mean truly unlimited; no throttling) is a joke! Forget about it! I'm not interested! Plus, supposedly I was throttled over my last billing period, and honestly, I didn't even notice it. Was still getting ~3mbit on HSPA+, which is plenty fine for most stuff anyway. Burned through about 6gigs of data last period. No tethering either.
Plus Exynos is a beast. Seriously...

Question: If you already have a VZW LTE hotspot, A) are you grandfathered into unlimited data with VZW? and B) why not just keep your international Note and use the hotspot for when you need the extra bandwidth?

Exactly what I plan to do. I have two grandfathered unlimited lines on VZW. So I'm going to do the Straighttalk $45 no contract deal and just wifi my Note from my hotspot off my RAZR. Just trying to decide if I want to buy a white Note or black Note.

Sounds like a good plan to me! I would avoid the AT&T version though, seriously. AT&T are a bunch of d!ck$ when it comes to unlocking their devices, using them in ways they didn't intend, and oh yeah, they still put Carrier IQ on their stuff AFAIK, so the AT&T Note will likely have that too. Not to mention, the discounted price only applies for a renewed 2-year agreement anyway, so you're either locked into that for another 2 years, or you're stuck with an ETF. Either way, they're gonna recoup the cost one way or another. Being that as the case, you're really just better off importing another unlocked Note and going pay-as-you-go on that $45 plan from Straight Talk

I always get a kick out of your posts! The Verizon Mifi is through a corporate account so I do not know if it is unlimited. I do plan to keep my International Note! I have a skyrocket as my primary phone (I swap SIM's every week or so) I love my GNote and figure I can sell the skyrocket and get the LTE GNote. I do not want to give up my International with all the aspects of having unlocked and updates. I also just love the LTE Network and figure I will love it more with a GNote!

Once people say this about buying unlocked "But remember, the carrier will recoup the cost of selling you a discounted device over the term of your service agreement, so you're gonna pay some way or another anyhow. " I stop reading because it makes no sense.
How does ATT recoup the cost of selling me a diiscounted device over the 2 years? I have a couple options...
A) Buy a phone for $299, and then for the next 24 months pay for my Family Plan including 550 minutes, Unlimited Text and Unlimited Data for both lines, after corporate discount, I pay roughly $135/month, or $3240 for the plan + $299 for the phone, a total of $3539
B) Buy an unlocked phone for $699, and then for the next 24 months STILL pay for my Family Plan including 550 minutes, Unlimited Text and Unlimited Data for both lines, plan totalling $3240 over the 2 years, and the phone being $699, so a total of $3939
In the end, who paid $400 MORE over the course of two years? You did. You said it yourself, especially in the US, what am I supposed to do, switch to T-Mobile and deal with a) crappy service in my area and b) different radio frequencies potentially limiting my data speeds? Goto a regional carrier with again, crappy service in my area?
When you say it's ALWAYS better to buy unlocked, you're plain wrong. As much as you don't want to hear it, you bought your 7.7 Tab from AT&T, and agreed to the Terms of User when you signed the contract, if you didn't think it was fair at the time, you shouldn't have entered the contract, simple as that. It may work out for you to buy International, but you can't make that blanket statement for everyone.

Or you can spend $50/month for unlimited everything on a pay-as-you-go plan and save yourself $2040 over the course of 2 years for one device. If your family plan has two lines on it (judging by your monthly cost), and say you bought two unlocked Note's, (So, $100/month x 24 months = $2400 + 2 Note's @ $700 each, brings you up to a total of $3800 over 2 years) you're still saving about $140, plus you're getting all the added benefits of owning an unlocked device, as described in my article. Also, this assumes you never sell your Note when you get tired of it and want to upgrade. You can further reduce the long-term cost by selling your device when you want to move on. Nearly two years after I got my old Galaxy S, I was still able to sell it for about $300 and some change.
I preordered Sunday afternoon.
Went in to a T-Mobile store yesterday to see if they had any S3's, and while looking at the display model, it said it was $279, or $229 if on the value plan. What is the value plan, and whats different between it and the standard family plan? Also, you MUST take the 5GB data plan? They had 2 employees working and about 5 people in line, so after ab out 10 minutes I left, questions unanswered.
The price is to make up the fact that you could save more with them. A value plan is when you start out a contract with a phone that you either have or bought full price. At the end, you end up saving even more than classic. You could find better deals at Wally world or Costco and they won't even make you upgrade your plan
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So if Im walking in as a new customer, I would have to pay the $279?
I just signed up for T-mobile this week coming from sprint. Got the S3 with the value plan. I paid about $270 in the store and walked out with the phone. With the value plan, you end up paying FULL price for the phone but they basically give it to you on credit and interest free. They add an extra 20 a month to your bill for 22 months, however you can pay off the phone early. Once the phone is paid off, I am looking at about 83 bucks a month with insurance for Unlimited with 5GB data with hotspot.
All of the numbers I just gave your are ballpark (except for the extra 20) becasue I don't remember the exact numbers.
In the long run, your monthly bill will be cheaper. The classic play with 5gb is about 94 bucks a month before taxes and fees.
At least this is how I understand things. If I am wrong, someone else please chime in.
I hope this helps a bit.
To add to durhamite's response, the extra $20 is per phone on the Value plan. This is easier to explain with examples. I'll assume two lines on an unlimited voice/text/2GB high-speed data plan.
Classic price for phones: $279 (after MIR)*2=$558
Classic MRC = $139.98
Value price for phones: $229*2= $458
Monthly EIP payments (for 20 months): $20*2=40
Value MRC: $99.98
I left out activation fees and any other fees that would be the same, regardless of plan. To summarize, with the Value plan, you pay $200 less today ($100 would come back via MIR if you chose Classic), the same amount for the next 20 months, and $40 less for the last four months of your contract. Keep in mind that both plans have an ETF and if you cancel a Value plan early, the remaining balance on the phones is due immediately.
The other advantage is that with the Value plan, you wouldn't have to have the data plan on your phones. However, I'm unsure if that is from the beginning, or only after you have finished your EIP installments.
So basically on the Value Plan, TMO is giving you an interest free (0% APR) loan on your phone (EIP payments = $20 x 20 months). Assuming that your credit is good enough to qualify for this plan.
I've ran the numbers between Classic vs Value plans. Value is always cheaper, you'll save between $100-$200, after 24 months contract, depending on which plans you choose.
Should of went to Walmart, only 198 for the phone.

While it's true that you're saving upfront cost of the phone $198 vs $229 from Walmart vs TMOBile, once you add up all the 24 months contract the Value plan is still cheaper. AFAIK, you can only get Value Plan from Retail TMO stores.

WELCOME TO TMO BRO! Ive been with them for a decade, and in that time Ive also had second lines with Sprint, and verizon. Tmo is AMAZING!! They will take good care uf you whenever theres a problem, they have gone SOOO far above and beyond anything any other carrier will do for me.
Also, make sure you bookmark tmonews.com, , its ran by blogger David Beren and its a branch of phonedog. Youll find all the latest leaks of phones, and sales. If you watch the sales, you can call and make changes to your plan that cxan really save you big money and lock you into great prices and features. Sorry, Im a huge TMO Fan, and Im always trying to bring ppl over, lol. Theres a guy at my local Tmo store who tells me I make him About $500 a year in commisions, just telling ppl about the service and handing them his card, lmao. But in return he called me the day before launch and had a GS3 tucked off to the side to sell me a day early!

wrong you can get the value plan w/ the s3 at costco for 390 without monthly installments. now that is a deal.
My plan:
unlimited minutes for two lines: 69.99
unlimited text for all lines: 9.99
two additional lines: 4.99 x 2 = 9.98
two lines w/ 200mb data: 4.99 x2 = 9.98
Total bill: 99.94$ - 15% employee discount = 84.95$ monthly pre taxes for four lines.
This same plan on classic would run you.... 99.99 for unlimited talk/text plus 19.99 for two add a line plus 40$ (minimum) for required data. After the discount it would be 137$ monthly.
This itself is a 52$ savings per month over 2 years. Which is 1248$ total in savings.
Provided you have to buy your phones separately it is still a good deal. My family all has smart phones of our individual choice, some that are not available on T-mobile.
I'm thinking about going to Tmobile also as sprint still doesnt have LTE. So if I get the value plan of $64.99 (500talk+text+5gb data) then I can go to costco and get the s3 for $350 correct?

390* but this is only an in store promotion so IDK if you can get in on the deal depending on where your at.
Also 5gb data is kind of a waste, I would sign up for the 2gb data unlimited for 10$ and edit the apn to keep getting unlimited data without throttling. But that's just me....
Good luck

Just as a note for those thinking about it... if you live in the area east of dallas, tx, tmobile service is the worst out of the four carriers. Bar none. Sprint beats them, Verizon and AT&T beat them without any effort at all.

Not a joke at all bud, if your making threats like "I'm leaving" when you call in, that may be the reason why? I've been a small business owner, and if someone has an issue, being polite could take them a long way with me. Not to say you haven't been, but I know a lot of ppl expect to just get what they want out of a business by yelling, especially when it's an over the phone situation, and not in person.
Tmo has done things that have just blown me away to keep my services. I'm positive that not everyone has had all great experiences with them, but honestly, in 10yrs they've always gone out of their way for me, while other carriers have barely ever ever been personable!
After 7+ years as a loyal Verizon customer, and 2+ years as a fanatical Incredible user, I'm leaning strongly towards leaving it all behind. The straw was the recent change to mandatory Shared Data plans. I just can't justify spending $30+ more per month when I upgrade for essentially the same service I am getting now. I understand why Verizon needed to make a change...but it's just too much for me.
I've been eyeing the GNex for a while, and with the continued disappointing turnout of HTC on Verizon (Inc 4G...really? Small screen, no ImageSense), I am planning to get the $350 unlocked, GNex direct from Google and then sign up with a month-to-month plan with a GSM provider.
Sad to see it all go, but also excited with the new possibilities.
If anyone else is mulling this conundrum, I found this thread to be very helpful...

I'm not happy with that either but to my understanding the shared data is an option not a requirement. I believe the tiered plan will still be an option.

Im up for my upgrade so i went on the vzw site logged in, went to upgrade device, picked a phone and went to the plan portion and there is only the one, 40 per phone 50 for 1gb shared data. No option to keep my current plan unless i buy the phone for retail with no contract. I am just going to save up my cash and when the inc dies, buy a phone retail or off amazon or ebay or something. That way i keep my 60 dollar a month bill with the unlimited data plan forever. I dont do a lot of talking or texting so the whole unlimited deal dosent really seem like a deal to me. And 50 for 1gb, thats just outrageous.
I know losing unlimited sucks, but I voluntarily gave it up. The shared plan gives me unlimited talk time, and 4gb a month between my girlfriend and I. We only averaged around 1.5-1.75gb per month each anyways and now that I figured out my employers network password I'm on their wifi at work lol. Saving $40 a month and gaining unlimited talk time was well worth it for me.
That said, I'm still considering leaving Verizon. Their service has been exceptionally poor in my area lately. My friend at work is on sprint and using speedtest his 3g speeds are consistently much greater than mine. But I don't know if I want to keep my Inc until January 2013.

Well I'll be with big red until they actually take away my unlimited, and willing to buy phones retail value if need be. I can't give up my free wifi via phone through internal modem. I use my phone (gnex) as a hotspot for everything and would be lost without it....lol. Monthly is 72.67 every month. If that changes I change. Tc

I plan on doing the same thing when the new iPhone (yes, sorry) comes out in Sept/Oct. I've been a Verizon Wireless customer since I was 16, and would end up paying about $20 more a month on their new plan as well. Verizon has good coverage where I am, so I'll either buy it unsubsidized and keep my unlimited data, or switch to a GSM month to month provider.

blasphemy i tell you, BLASPHEMY
The Shared Data plans work great if you have someone to share it with. Engadget, Android Central, et al have done the analysis and these are good deals for groups of 3 or 4 people who use less than 4GB together...for individuals like me it's a really bad deal. I would basically pay $30-40 more for a capped data plan.
I've thought about getting a retail price phone...you can get an Inc 2 on ebay now for $250-350. But then I wonder, why settle for an old phone, when, for the same price, I can get a brand new, unlocked GNex and be free of all this. Coverage is a concern. Support is a concern. Verizon has been fantastic for me on both. But I live in DC and friends with AT&T and T-Mobile are happy with their coverage.
Still haven't decided...but I appreciate everyone's thoughts and feedback. The Incredible dev community has been just that....another reason I'm looking at the GNex...gotta follow the devs.
Yeah dude I'm considering a nexus for my daily driver. I'm already on tmobile and pay $15-30 a month. They have a $30/month prepaid plan, 100 voice minutes, unlimited texts, and unlimited data (first 4 or 5gbs at hpsa+ speeds). Beats any Verizon plan for a single user. Only thing is you have to have T-Mobile coverage in your area. I get better coverage on T-Mobile than Verizon in some places where I live

My wife just left sprint because of crappy service and support, and went to straight talk. $43 a month with tax, unlimited talk text and data, and here service is excelent. It even comes in at the beach where vzw has no service. But straight talks best android phone is still junk. If i could get my inc or another newer better android phone flashed to straight talk, i would leave big red in a heartbeat.
Woh im only use Rp 45.000 or 5$ per month for my Dinc for unlimited data plan. it's cheap and enough for social media and download apps..

Just ran the numbers for all the lines on our plan and it is better for us to stay with what we have now. If we do upgrade we will go retail or upgrade and opt for the 2GB non-shared data at 29.99 It will keep our price the exact same and the lines that have unlimited can keep it. It also makes it 10 dollars cheaper for us to do 3 lines with 2GB data than shared 6GB data. I totally get the new plans and such, but it suck to only be one phone on the plan.
If we didn't live in the middle of nowhere we might change, but VZW offers the best service for us.

Have you tried calling VZW customer service? I went into my local store last week and asked the gal at the counter what I needed to do for my stbxw will be getting off my account and getting her own account. She said in my case that she made a note in the computer allowing her to take her phone/phone number off my account. But once she did that, then I needed to call customer service for them to change my family share plan to something else, because they no longer sell a unlimited data plan so customer service would have to make my account a single tiered account so I don't get cornered into a share everything plan and lose my unlimited.

That is my understanding from the rep I spoke with on the phone on Thursday. I was told the 2GB plan would still be around for any line I would want to put it on. I think it would for sure be something you would need to call in about b/c I don't see it listed under online options.
i had the incredible, went through a bunch of phones, lost some money, but ended up on a nexus with unlimited data. now that i only have ~9 months left on contract, im thinking of going to tmobiles $70 a month unlimited everything. its more then i get now, for a lot less. if you guys are in the market for used phones, try swappa.com. really good site. ive used them several times. nexuses can be had for $360
Since many people seem to have a grandfathered unlimited data plan with Verizon, I thought you might want to be aware of this. Might force me to activate my Project Fi account now.

I dropped mine a long time ago and went to Sprint. Sadly, I was only using about 1GB a month even when I did have it. They've been great for me and cut my bill by half (even before they ran that promotion), so I'm happy.
To anyone considering a switch, Sprint is raising their unlimited rate mid-month, so it would be worth moving quick.
That really sucks. Here's a little more on who it affects:
http://www.droid-life.com/2015/10/0...price-hike-more-details-about-who-it-impacts/
Down at the bottom, it sounds like you might not be charged if you have a really old plan that doesn't break out the data separately. I think my old Shared 700 plan has separate data, so I'm probably screwed. I chatted with Verizon, who said nothing was going to change because they haven't officially announced anything yet. Morons.
Been seriously considering Project Fi anyhow, so that's the way I'll go. It'll probably cut my monthly bill in half. I normally don't use much of my unlimited data anyhow.
SIMPLE Mobile cost only $55 for 10GB LTE data.
So how the hell were us 1% the top 5% that needed to be throttled last year?
even at $90 it's still cheaper than any other plan form. plus now i'll be using netflix and google music more often with it instead of my wifi drive since they're charging more.
Love my $55 cricket with 20/ gb
I'm still keeping mine. I'm turning my wifi off permanently tho...
I hope they loose a lot of those customers due to this! I hate to see good people give their hard earned money to such an EVIL company!

Seems like if you are on contract, you don't have to pay the extra until your contract expires. So, I want to get back on contract with my UDP using one of the various methods if possible.
Is the Nexus 6 the best device on Verizon that can be rooted and use custom roms? Currently have a Note 4, and just utterly sick of its lag and lack of ability to do a damn thing I want. I need root back, but seems like every phone these days is unbreakable.
What about the Nexus 6P? Is that coming to vzw under contract discount upgrades?
I don't think it's possible to get on contract with Verizon anymore. There was an article about 3 months ago stating vzw had done away with contracts. It was at the same time they went to this s/m/l/xl data scheme.
I guess I lucked out. I have unlimited data and signed a new 2yr back in may. So like most everybody else, until then WiFi is a thing of the past and I'm just going to do everything on mobile until contract is up.
I think I'll make a nice 5gb file and put on Google drive and just constantly redownload it. See how high I can rack up my mobile data usage until then

You still can. Just have to select 2 year contract instead of device payment plan or purchase outright. May only be for current customers with available upgrades though.
the terms of the contract don't expire after two years, it's just the particular term of not leaving expires after two years. i wish i had kept my original contract so i could look it over. so you still have a contract with them, it's just the penalty for leaving that's expired, not the contract.
If you have a Nexus 6, you should probably check out T-Mobile. I left Verizon a few years back and I consistently have better signal in hospitals than people with Verizon. The Nexus has the best antenna and in my experience more than makes up for any minor differences between the companies. Plus I saved a couple hundred a month so I'm happy.

The 6P will not be available through VZW for contract subsidized upgrades as far as I know. Please also remember that you cannot directly renew your UDP contract through verizon, they will force a new data plan on your line.
I'll just stick with my 100 buck 2 line family unlimited with sprint.
I simply canceled my home internet, raise my rate, that's cool... I'll raise my usage.

from what i read it's not upgrade, but allow us to get on the payment plan to fully purchase a phone. i'd be better off using a credit card since i get a built in extended warranty on purchases. i never buy the TEP b/c it's not worth it for me.
I just signed up for the free 1 yr unlimited deal with Sprint porting over my Xfinity Mobile number. Anyone else going to dive into that as well? Great deal if Sprint works even just ok in your areas... lol My only concern is that the Sprint sim may lock my phone which is unlocked and bought direct from Essential. Read some horror stories here about unlocked phones being locked to Sprint after putting in a Sprint sim.
I started up my free Sprint line last June. It's definitely worth it for the price (you pay taxes-only.) I also used this free line to get the $150 Essential Phone.
Either way, it comes with 10 GB hotspot which is incredibly useful!
Yup, can't wait to try. And I missed a $150 PH-1 deal?? Lol
Where did you learn this? I feel like I take in a lot of media, LOL- but I've never read where Sprint is doing this. They'd have to pay me, but still- free is free.

Unfortunately, it's for new BYOD activations/port-ins only. If you have a family member or friend who is interested in the free line, they could create a new account, get the free service, and port you in under their account (each line will need to bring an existing Sprint-compatible phone with it). The service is technically $5/month, -$5 for autopay, +$3-4 for taxes and fees. (My bill is about $4.30 each month).
I did the same as Ascertion above, and got the line back in July. I picked up the Essential for the great price, but it lead to a 2 week nightmare of trying to get my account fixed after the in-store rep screwed up my account and took me off the free plan. Eventually got it fixed thanks to someone in the corporate office.
The terms of service state you can get a phone lease/upgrade after 3 months on the service. BUT in the fine print, it says the upgrade/lease must be done online (cannot be done in-store, or you'll lose the plan for good).

Thanks for this information.
Had a horrible experience trying to port in. For those on Xfinity Mobile, use your Xfinity Mobile # acct (can be found in their mobile app) and the last 4 digits of your phone number for the pin. Tried the 0000 pin but that didn't work. And Sprint is horrible, at home I'm at 1x800... whatever tech that is... haven't gone out yet but will do a ton of speedtest whenever I remember since it's unlimited data... Lol
I'm on this plan now since July. They put these lines on very low priority. Even though you have full LTE, webpages still take 30 seconds to load... Call quality is terrible too. I would only advise getting this plan if you have access to WiFi all day. I went on a road trip recently, and I couldn't use any apps outside of Spotify, because everything took so long to load and the latency was terrible! You definitely get what you pay for with this...
I was on a $30 prepaid before this, and that was 100% better. I may have had 5GB of data with prepaid, but at least I could use my data.... I'm jumping ship as soon as my phone's unlocked.
I've only had it for one day and I concur. Lol. I'm lucky if I get even 5Mbps. Upload is almost non-existent. Not my main line so I'm fine with it and i figured that was the case so i was prepared lol.
Been on Sprint since July as well, fortunately service is great in and around Columbus, Ohio. I've had over 100 Mbps in certain areas, 25 Mbps average I would say. Got in on the Essential lease for $5 x 18 with $30 payoff, 5 lines with the $5 lease payment is $19.43 including tax per month. I was paying $26 including tax per line on T-Mobile each month.
Coming from T-Mobile, I miss being able to swap my SIM card into a different phone on the fly, and I did have to buy a few Sprint compatible phones to take advantage of the deal. I will still save $250 over T-Mobile at the end of 12 months including the cost of the phones.
Overall I have been pleased with the free BYOD plan, I will likely port out and back in using a different SSN if the plan is still available in July 2018.

I'm thinking of making the switch to sprint free unlimited (currently Cricket $30x3 lines also pre-paid 5GB which works great) but my nexus 5x just died so was looking maybe at the essential (or Moto X4) to not be locked and switch around. Good to know that maybe not worth... too good to be only $4-5, right ?
Sprint is garbage in most of the areas I'm in so even if it's for a few bucks, I'd rather pay for Xfinity mobile. Unlimited means nothing if you're not getting even 5Mbps on avg like I am. Lol. It's just that bad but again if Sprint is good where you are, then totally worth it. There's no contract so you could always go to something else later.
