Save battery by by atleast x2 - G3 General

So after struggling to get more than 3 hours of SoT. I managed to finally do it. This is based off a post i saw with some dude (on reddit) on illusion rom got 5 hours and 8 mins of SoT his method, Greenify all apps that he doesnt need notifications from and use amplify to block all safe to limit apps except for audio and something else. I've come to the Conclusion it works fantastically i did one run through with no greenify and amplify and with the technique. without the battery saving tweaks i got 2 hours and 49 mins of sot with mild/heavy, contsent, and cpu boiling temperatures of usage. I did the same run with the twats and got 4h37mins of use Also the whole time i was connected to my g watch so yeah all that time bluetooth on and i use plus sync and location on battery saving
TlR - Flash illusion 6.5 and do the tweaks mentioned above for amazing battery

x10 battery disaster

hello guys i have x10a fw r2ba026 rooted and i install setcpu and i have 2 task killers systempanel and process manager but still i dont see any improvement in my battery life i dont even know what to do. please guys when u read this thread please reply. i went to my battery use and this is the result i got it says 8 hours since unplugged but i unplugged like 13 hours ago i dont know why its saying that please help

i would not bother running task killers. i have not got anything like that running in my rooted 26 and i can get 2 days from a charge with general usage. Task killers run and actually chew up more power than they free up and on another note, android itself is very clever at handling resources. you do not need to have 80% of your ram free (read: wasted) in order for your phone to be running well. android will kill off tasks as required.
my advise, ditch your task killers and enjoy longer battery life

Also make sure your screen brightness isn't too high. Just wastes battery for nothing.

on my x10 firmware v...26 rooted, battery lasts over 3 days. HOWEVER for 30hours was in plane mode and i use SetCPU in powersave mode...It's third week since i bought the phone. And screen brightness is on automatic. In that 3 days 1 reboot, few calls, mp3s, video clips, vwifi web browsing for a few minutes. If I want to play for instance NFS shift It will last for only a few hours...
@kremx can u tell me your setcpu profile settings? r u using any task killers?
I use setcpu and juice defender, both on automatic settings and set to start on bootup. Batt lasts 2 days with normal usage

I see that said a lot on here, has the theory been tested at all, is there any data to support that?
In response to the O.P, I use Advanced Task Killer and SetCPU.
i use setcpu and juice defender, works well for me, i get bout 20 hours of heavy usage out of my phone which is a lot better then when i first got it (got like 6 hrs of battery life), i am also running 020

mate as bin said by others, cant stress enuf, get rid of any task killers and battery aids as i hav found they do more harm, since the update the only thing i use is SEEPU to monitor the processor and memory, and my battery life has improved on mass amount, typical day, unplug at midnite, 3%/4% used overnight, bluetooth on at 8 till 4.30 with gps and sometimes wifi with few phone calls and tx plus bit of browsing market etc, by time i get home for 5.30 i still hav 65% left, so could easy do 2 day, if i turned it all off i reckon i could prob get 3 half day out of the battery maybe little more

Imho task killers, setcpu etc. do more harm than help. Your display usage seems high what is your display timeout? Mines set at a minute and while my battery only lasts a day, the r1f fw my battery would only last 4-6 hours. Definite improvement. Hope this helps

i download helix launcher omg in 6 hours i only lost 5% with like 15 texts and 10 mins call and 45 mins browsing. wow every1 should install helix launcher donut.

FWIW - i run ADW launcher on mine, no task killers/CPU or Battery tools and short screen timeouts. I get great battery life.

72% of your battery goes to display! Man that should give a clue!
Turn down the brightness of your display, way down. 20% brightness perhaps, that's what I can live with under most weather circumstances.
Even with auto-brightness my display doesn't eat THAT much battery.
Do you live perhaps in a very sunny area, that you keep your display so bright??
Anyway, to improve your battery life, turn down the brightness!!
I found juice defender made a difference. Before I installed it Android System was using the most power, now it's screen which is as it should be!

I also dont get great battery life and the display is always using at least 70% of it when I check the usage but when I turn off auto brightness it ends up being brighter even when its manually turned all the way down so it seems auto would make more sense....

The major things that can help in saving the battery is killing the 3G and Manually set the brightness.
am using the 3G only when i need it , i wont keep it running all the time, the reason of that is most of our apps mails etc, will Auto sync , and that will eat your batter.
Plus : Stop GPS , Bluetooth when it is not needed
why display shows 70 % of consumption ?? (((( cause you have 4 inches LCD screen ))) , smaller the screen the less it will use .
Task Killer , is not for saving battery , it is for freeing your RAM , X10 has 384 MB RAM , Android is using more than 200 MB out of it , leaving you with less than 180 MB to run your apps , so if you run few apps your free RAM will start dropping and you will start feeling how heavy is it to start any app.

Here are the check list to improve battery life:
If you use email, put the update duration to max, except for important mail account
Set brightness to automatic
Enabled GPS, Bluetooth and WiFI when required
Only enabled 3G when you are using the phone for internet access (Find a good 2G-3G switch apps, mine runs in notification), i also found talking on 2G line gives better quality specially if you live where 3G BTS is very scarce
Uninstall all task killer and battery management
Use less widget, widget updates also takes baterry
I usually able to run the phone without need to charge for 2 days for daily task such as check email, messaging, IM and few phone calls.

... with juice plotter i have seen, that my wlan-standby (screen off) does not work correctly, if some apps (also no typical always on apps) are installed, but i cant remember which ones. So after installing new apps, i always check juice plotter after (in the standby mode) ...
... i know some apps are doing an intervall update, that is ok (you can see spikes in juice plotter) but a 100% time use is silly ...
... is there a app i can monitor, which app and when an app use wlan/gps/bt (time/open/close) ???

Awesom Battery life X10. Post yours too!

For Battery improvements I did the following. Please point out if there are any improvements left undone by me.
1.Display set to 4% brightness using Battery booster app.
2.Screen time out 15 sec/30 sec depending on activity.
3.All auto-sync disables (i dont need them currently)
4.Network mode set to GSM only (disabled edge using wifi)
5.killing unused tasks couple of times.
cell standby(GSM) -33% - 1day 9 hr 10 min
display - 29% - 3 hr 40m
phone idle - 25% - 1 day 5 h 26m
wi-fi - 7% - 2h 6m
android system - 3%
voice calls -0.xx % - 4min
total up time 33 hours 10 mins during this session + previous day uptime 5 hours = Total 38 Hours up time
with 22% battery left
(did normal usage like websurfing few pages on wifi, installed 5-8 apps from the market, few mins of gaming , few mins of youtube , some 150 text messages, few Video playbacks for 10 min )

I suppose long standby battery life is pretty cool but it is a smartphone and personally, very impressed with thy battery life on my x10 with what I consider heavy usage;
Autosync on all the time with my Google account so I never lose my contacts and calendar ever again
3g also always on but when I get home from work until next morning WiFi on, that's about 12hrs
Auto brightness on, using tasker for automated 100% brightness on videos and games
K9mail for push email - receive and read about 10 to 15 of them a day
1 to 2 hours of web surfing
Half an hour of music
Above usage lasts me about 16~20hrs and about 15~20% battery life left, how's that?

I consider myself a pretty heavy user, not sure how long my battery would last as it is charged overnight.
It comes off charge at 7am and will last until 9pm with usually around 25% remaining.
Tbh I don't put much effort into conserving battery since 2.1, it is already fine. The only change I make is nothing updates automatically, I do it when I need it done.

8.don't use Live Wallpaper (Use regular wallpaper).
9. use real player or vplayer instead of media scape.
then you can go up to 2 days with normal use.
and with (Games - GPS - wifi - media) ... around 14 hours.
the X10 has awesome battry but the poor programmed apps and high graphical use apps kills it.

As long as it lasts me through a day with everything running so that I can charge it when I get back home I'm fine... and it does that
Even using live wall papers I receive a solid ass two days with WiFi and GPS/location services fully enabled (I have a 6 gig data plan and try killing it as much as possible lol). I use it pretty heavily too. A few hours of straight internet radio or on board music, watch some videos over VLC, lots of browsing and tons of texting throughout the day.
I do kill tasks if I've run a ****load of programs and have a few suspect ones that may drain the battery before I put my phone away for a few hours. But lately I've not killed tasks and it's almost exactly the same to my surprise. Last charge might have even been longer despite not killing tasks too!
I use Titanium to uninstall all the useless crap and have JIT enabled.

Why should anyone uninstall Moxier? In my tests I've seen that if I don't configure it, it will not impact on battery life.
However, I'm running with GMail and Moxier both in push mode on 3G network and I get about 36 hours.
I've uninstalled moxier, not to save battery but to save memory, and improve boot time..

i don't use it and it keeps auto-lunch it self so that's annoying .
anyway i delete the unused apps to increase space and speed in general.
i use smart phones for movies , games and GPS . most of the time so the battry life is too much important to me. i didn't active the 3G internet in my smartphone it costs alot.

What ROM are you using ? ... What are the other settings and apps you have been using to get that statistics ? ... anyone tried underclocking the CPU ?? ...
i don't recomend downclocking the CPU.
it makes the x10 too slow and laggy.
after 15 Hours.. down to 56%.. would get 2 full days out of this.. (I usually put it into flight mode at bed time). Wifi set to always on..

Being able to undervolt the processor would be awesome. It's a common practice in the laptop world, and a must do if you plan on using the laptop a lot relying on the battery only.
My solution to all this! Just charge it every night, so you don't have to worry about having juice the next day when you are out and about...

Nexus 4: Best ways to save battery?

Hey guys, so ive had my nexus 4 for around 4 months now? might be more and the battery is just terrible, obviously we already know this as ive seen so many people post about it and such
my question is this, what do you guys use to save battery? Im currently on XYLON ROM with Perf-enhanced-Stock-422 kernel which isnt bad, theres nothing wrong with it in fact but i literally only get around 2 hours screen on time, terrible i know
ive heard people say flash android 4.2.2 and then flash a custom rom, apparently it helps or something? not fact but ive seen a few people solve it with this issue
What kind of roms and kernels are you guys using? And what governor?

I've seen most people running Franco kernel with either cyanogen mod 10.1, PAC or paranoid android. You'll probably get a similar battery life with all of them, and probably the best your going to get.
Check your wake locks, use juice defender, check you're not dropping in and out of signal (hammers battery), turn of location settings...

AKOP or CM with franco give me hours (4+) of calling or 1.5 days of moderate use.
I also have notification widgets on so I can quickly switch BT/WIFI/Brightness AND I make use of nfc tags so when I'm home wifi is auto turned on and when in the car it turns off.
From my experience, these battery saving apps such as juice defender are not good, you shouldn't use them.
About the battery life, there are tons of recommendations... stop syncing, turn brightness to as low as possible, turn off 3G when you don't need it...
Dont use your phone..
Seriously now, the battery is not bad at all, and in battery usage cases you need to state your usage of the phone (games, mail, 3g on most of the time? widgets? surfing and screen on time)
Without those parameters none can determine if you have wakelocks problem / some app is draining your battery or eventually maybe it's only psychological problem
Take in mind even on auto brightness, if you are playing heavy games dont expect to last a day or so..

4) Equalizers
5) Apps
Best to monitor your usage!
Personally I use the phone as follows for 16 to 22 hrs of usage.
Bus
1) 4 hrs of music with quality headphones that have noise canceling tech. Abel Planet 200b with built in amplifier.
2) 3 phone calls a day!
3) No games ! Have a tablet for that
4) Minimal reader for new feeds only updates once a day.
5) Music app either Apollo or NexMusic great music players without equalizer. simple controls.
On an average day headed to work paying bills I see 10 to 12 hrs easy.
Busy day on my phone 8 to 10 hrs.
Turn off services you don't need or use.
WIFI - Turn it off when you leave your house and when you don't need it. Leaving it on will drain power as it will continue to scan for a connection.
GPS - Turn off your GPS if you don't need.
Sync - Sync when you need to. Turn it off and access it manually.
Bluetooth - Turn it off when you don't need it
Location services - Go to the Settings menu and head over to Location access and switch "Access to my location" to off.
Backup services - Head over "Backup & Reset" and uncheck "Back up my data".
Screen brightness - The lower the brightness, the more power you'll save.
Apps - Applications like facebook and Google Maps will remain online as it runs in the background. As a result it will drain your battery. It can prevent your phone from entering deep-sleep to preserve power.
Signal - Connection is very important. If you're in a area where service is low to poor, your phone will draw more power to stay connected to the nearest cell antenna/tower. It's best to turn off on connections if you're in a no service area. Simply put the phone in "Airplane mode".
Usage - Battery life is dependent to whatever tasks you are performing on your phone. If you play games daily for a long period of time, then you should expect the battery to decrease dramatically. Conversely, if you just email, text, browse the web, make calls, little to no games then your battery life of the phone should last for quite a long time.

Kernels and roms
One major reason why root is amazing. Kernels offer tweaks that are beneficial for the phone to perform smoother and offer amazing battery life. Offers more tweaks as well like gamma and undervolting. Roms can contribute a small portion of battery saving but not much.
Did I miss anything else?
Adding Maps to Greenify usually helps a lot regarding battery life, can leave GPS on for other apps when doing this and won't suck any battery.

Just use a ROM for a while, let the battery do some cycles, and use the phone for that, as a phone, remember that we have a Quad Core here, i'm on stock rooted only, and last night i get 12h20m37s with 4h48m SOT with about 7% left, so that's pretty good. And i really use my phone, Twitter, Flipboard, G+, Wifi on all the way, Sync on.

I guess you are one of the lucky ones! i hardly use my phone for gaming, i have 2 games on there and i use facebook twitter tumblr etc 3G is only on when i leave the house but other then its on wifi
just got to 46% with 1hr 50mins screen on time so ill probably get around 3 hours today.. i just dont think its good enough :/

Yep definitely something's not right, facebook is known to be a battery drainer, i suggest to you that open it up on the browser and uninstall the app, try it!

With 80% left I have 1hr of screen on and 10mins of call time, this is with whatever kernel the latest CM nightly is using, so yeah you could definitely get better but I have to think facebook is the contributor since I too have twitter (plume) and tumblr without the same battery drain.
greenify is a must to disable rude apps which do thing without asking, like facebook, games, etc, they connect to internet to download ads and sttuff, facebook being the worse cpu eater
i use 2g only, wify in home, disable wifi outside,
only wassap active, some opera mini browsing, pics, talk, sms, little gaming, i get 1.5 days
off course heavy gaming kills the battery, because of 3d, even 2d games drain the battery because of the screen, like angry birds

I like to use JuiceDefender only when the phone's battery gets really low and I want to sacrifice some functionality. It works well, but only if you allow it to keep 3G/Wifi off when the screen is off.
I use facebook so much though, ugh :/ ill give it a go and if the battery lasts longer then ill get rid of it
single biggest difference I've seen is to stay on wifi all the time as much as possible. I leave it on no matter what. Granted if you are out and about, it won't help but once you get to home/work/friends/etc, your phone will immediately connect and start saving you juice.
91% after 8 hours with light usage at work. With 3G, I normally would be approaching 60-70% by now with light usage. That 3G drain is real and should be avoided whenever possible.
Don't play games. It seems like no matter what game I play, it'll almost always lock my cpu to the max frequency until I exit. Even really simple non graphics intense games.
Well ideally you're biggest battery drainer should be the the display. If it's not then read below.
1) So for the screen the best way to go is to get a stable custom rom like xenon and tinker with the auto brightness settings. Tweak out auto brightness settings to your liking (they're generally very overbright by default) and you'll see major increases in data.
2) Screen aside your other biggest drainer is cell radio. Particularly if you're in a low signal area it will drain your battery really fast. So if your using wifi anyway be sure to turn data off and switch to 2g. That way you'll have a strong signal and 2g drains less battery anyway.
3) As some people have mentioned already. rogue apps. Social networking apps are a huge drainer in this regard. Especially facebook. You just can't have that app on your phone and get decent battery. As for other apps which draw on unnecessary background data, Greenify their a**es.

Turn off google now, syncs, and uninstall facebook. That's what did the trick for me. Also, location settings to off.
Google search (velvet.apk) always eats my battery. So i always delete.
Start with wakelocks and everything automated like syncing and such... After that make sure nothing is getting in the way of screen off battery consumption... From there Basically ur looking for longer screen on times which really has to do with your type of usage... (I can play games while listening to music and get a max screen on time of 2hours or I can read forums check mail..( do stuff that's not cpu/gpu intensive) and hit 6~7 hours screen on time)) Remember those high screen on times are for test purpose and not daily use (unless u really hardly use ur smartphone as 1 )...
Step1. Turn screen brightness to sub 0 value using something like lux auto brightness.. Screen brightness is ur 1st enemy.. control the minimum comfortable brightness u need and that alone will give u an hour or so extra of screen on time... Next is apps running and cpu freq (control what's running and how long u stay on high freqs~ the longer u stay there the more battery u use up..)
... Clear memory when uve used many apps during the day( some tend to stick around when not needed and use battery~ make sure greenify does its job)
Find a good profile for usage between freqs~cores online~ this will introduce lag but nothing too crazy if ur willing to squeeze every last drop of juice

Hello, taken that I came from a mammoth battery of 6000 mA of the Ulefone Power, the 3000 mA of the ZTE Axon 7 just fails short to lasting me a day.
I felt in love with the screen of the Axon 7, just to find is the highest ranking sucker for battery, which makes me have to set it black and white and dim it…. This really sucks. ;-(
I have excellent sleeping battery savings 0 to 1% using the wakelock software, but is just when I turn on -> the screen starts draining the battery quick!.
I have installed 341 user apps and 163 system apps (I debloated heavily the phone, stock launcher, gmail, photo)…. Please notice that I have paid for the PRO versions off all the software shown here. Please respect the developers and show support by buying software that help us improve our day by day usage of the Phone.
By the way I have a A2017G with a ZTE A2017GV1.0.0B03 with rooted phone + locked boot loader
I atached a file to be opened with “My App List” which is a free Google Play app so you can download all the files I mention in the thread that belong to Google Play. The apps missing are Xposed files and you have to find them in the repository - > Xposed modules will be identified with (X). Some of the titles are in Spanish (I am a Spaniard) so I have provided a screen capture so you can identify the apps icon in Google play or use “My App List”.
I will not provide the configurations, at this point, per app (just a short description)…. Maybe we can do that in another thread to define optimum performance of the Axon 7 battery once we filter out which apps we shall use

WoW! @j77moduss you've done a great work here. One petition, please add links to the apps and to that Bible guide for wakelock management.
Well I did this:
1. Install a debloated ROM and my list of apps. I have about 190 apps.
2. Use Amplify to detect and limit wakelocks.
At this point the deep sleep is almost nothing so I did not focus on wireless signal optimization. It wouldn't bring any significant juice.
3. Find a good CPU and I/O governor/scheduler. I am using ATK Balanced Zhana profile for the Interactive governor, initially designed for the One Plus 3 and working excellent on our Axon 7. This balanced profile can increase the SOT to 7-10 hours without any lack of performance. There are more aggressive profiles such as X.A.N.A. for ramping up and down the cores, able to provide up to 14h of SOT. But the lag and the jittering when scrolling is very annoying when using an extreme battery saver CPU profile. However those profiles are there just in case. In a charging emergency they could be very useful. Kernel Adiutor is my favorite app for Kernel tuning, and it is compatible with our stock kernel.
I am happy with the current setup. I am benchmarking (Using BetterBatteryStats) the current battery performance with different profiles. I am planning to install Naptime or ForceDoze (Naptime seems to be better, What do you think?), however I do not use much the Doze mode except at night. While at work I need to receive emails, messages, etc, while driving I use Spotify and At home I often browse internet when I am not playing with it. And again, The battery problem is more related to the screen and CPU than any other subsystem of the device after working out the software wakelocks.

It all depends on the mix of apps you use. There are some apps that are not well polished and they have too many wakelocks, or incompatibilities with some combinations creating too much battery drain. When you install more than 150 apps and you use more than 4 or 5 social apps along the day you begin noticing a huge reduction in your battery. Not to mention Spotify, Google app, Google fit, etc. Well know for keeping your phone from going to a low power mode.
As I said before, the culprit of all this problem is basically 3:
1. Wakelocks: avoid your device to enter into low power mode, this makes your phone to waste too much battery at night or when you are not using it for some minutes.
2. CPU throttle configuration: Default governors and schedulers are usually not tuned. The manufacturers do not pay special attention to this and it is critical for having a smooth device with good battery. The ramp up and down parameters are critical here. A good profile can provide you more than 10 hours SOT without any lack of performance. Sincerely, ZTE should pay attention to this since the hardware is much more powerful than just the default 5 or 6 hours of SOT.
3. AMOLED screens are very good at saving power, and if you have your theme configured in black then the screen can contribute a lot in expanding the SOT figure. Some people use the phone more than 6 hours per day and they require to apply those mesures. probably +1:30 H of battery juice can be the difference between requiring a power bank or the battery charger.
With this phone I do never have to charge it during the night. And the car charger during commuting to work is in excess enough for keeping it alive and healthy the whole day and night and with better performance when I need it. You do not need 25 apps to do so, and probably the package @j77moduss is sharing with us is excessive and for sure overwhelming to the standard user. Maybe not 25 but 5 or 6 apps to fix the 1, 2, 3 problems and another 5 or 6 to monitor the behavior in case of excessive drain is really common and can help you on extending several hours the SOT of your terminal while reducing the idle consumption.

Based on your numbers (even though they're anecdotal we can use them as a point of reference), that's giving you a 26% increase in battery with software optimization alone. I would say that's pretty damned good and worth the effort.
However, I do agree that getting 5:35hrs of SOT is pretty awesome straight out of the box. That's one of the first things that blew me away with this phone. All this power and you're getting 5:30 SOT. I light game, mid user with videos/music, but I have all my google/exchange sync to push, and have an Android Wear device connected pretty much all the time. So I expect to hit the battery a little harder than most users.
Another thing that stood out to me was the stock build. Granted, it's not as polished as some of your heavy hitters out there, but it also has a lesser footprint than most (I'm looking at you HTC and REALLY looking at you Samsung) Rooting and debloating the stock ROM has been absolutely perfect for me. I like to know exactly what my phone is running and honestly, it's worked out quite well.

I have a suggestion to verify how is really running the best configuration and it is Untutu Battery test.
Maybe we could post our configuration and the Untutu result.

I leave wifi, bluetooth and LTE signal activated the whole day and night. During nigh I have about 1% drain so the cell phone signal (very low at home) or wifi are not significant energy drainers lately. Probably the monitoring task of those apps are consuming about the same wireless energy you are saving with them.
CPU / System Tweaks
1. BootManager (X): Turn Off apps in the StartUp list Usually you install things you need. Stopping push notifications removes part of the functionality, otherwise they are not started.
2. Auto Start Manager: Turn off apps in any event (aka if you turn the GPS on I do not want Google Maps to go on until I click it, etc) What are you using this for? GPS is not by any means a huge battery drainer in this phone.
3. ]CPU Turner: change governors / CPU speed in per profile configuration This is the main cause of battery drain. An optimized profile can even duplicate the screen on time.
4. Smart Booster Pro (X) : Control RAM and close apps as needed This is actually a very bad idea. Free RAM equals to wasted RAM. reading from RAM take less energy than reading from the flash storage. While the app is cached in the RAM it is not using energy until it is required. If you flush the RAM then next time your phone will use a lot more energy and time to reopen the app. This was an issue Jellybean. Nowadays clearing RAM is something we should avoid at all cost. RAM is a cache for the apps, so use it as much as possible.
5. HEBF Optimizer: Kernel Optimizer, FStrim,Zipalingn, Battery Savings, etc.. Filesystem optimizations could be improved by just switching to F2FS filesystem. This doesn't require zipaligns and it helps on saving energy and extending the life of your flash storage.

Numbers 1,2 and 6 seems to be somehow doing the same thing. What is the best from your point of view? why? Numbers 4 and 5 seems to be the same, however I do not find any use for them without losing functionality. No. 8 falls into the phone signal group. In this group the true game changer is Amplify.

We have one of the best screens in the market. This AMOLED Samsung panel is excellent. The absence of backlight is a great for battery savings so the more black you have, the less relevant the screen is for the SOT. Number 2 and 3 seem to be similar and I am curious about them and have my fears regarding the extra CPU required to process the screen. Which one is better? The big thing here is number 5. Number 8 is also interesting. The rest are not providing a significant advantage.

I really recommend everyone to use Accubattery for at least one week to learn how to properly charge the battery. The rest of the statistics are provided by the las couple of apps you listed. Nonetheless all the battery apps are needed when you are actively tuning your phone, after a while they become useless garbage until you face another huge change such as a new ROM.
Miscellaneous
1. Root Toolbox Lite: Clean Dalvink / Cache after TRWP .zip installation This is useless in current OS. Now since the huge transition to the new ART (Android Run Time), the OS detects new installed apps so cleaning dalvik / Cache is just adding more useless drain to the battery since the AOT compiler has to process all the apps instead of only the new one. In the old times this was beneficial, not it is something you must do only if it is absolutely required.
2. Prevent Running: App will only execute if on intentionally clicked I am curius about this. what is the purpose of it regarding battery saving?
3. Battery Calibration: After each rom installation, reach 100% charge and erase Battery_Stats Why? Battery stats are aso wiped when you do a clean flash. If the OS is good enough it should take cate of recalibrating the battery. It only takes a few seconds.
4. Battery Draining: After calibration, a quick cycle of discharge to 0%.[/QUOTE] NEVER!!!!!!! There are 2 states really dangerous for the battery. One is full charge. If you reach full charge, it means that you have stressed the battery a lot in order to reach that state. New hardware battery managers just avoid reaching 100% charge just to extend the battery life. It is a common technique for PC laptops. Accubattery is one of the few battery managers that is actually focused in extending the life of your battery. You won't want to have 20% less battery after 1 year of charging it to 100% each night. Well, the second and most dangerous state for a Li-ion battery is to reach full depletion. A state of deep discharge can make it impossible to recharge again since some batteries require an extra kick not provided by the charger. Do never leave any device on until depleted, if you leave it fully discharged for a while, chances are that you will need to replace the battery. The bottom line of this is: avoid 100% charge, 85% is fair, as much as %90 and do NEVER reach full depletion. If you r phone reaches 6% just turn it off completely.
There are other ways to improve the battery such as switching to F2FS filesystem with optimized mount options. F2FS is specifically designed for flash storage. It reduces the write cycles and optimizes the use of the cache so it is far more energy efficient than the linux etx4. On the other side, it extends the life of your flash storage, including the emmc and the micro SD card die. Less writes means less wear.
Also avoid unnecessary apps, they will drain battery when rebuilding the ART AOL cache and requires extra processing for the launcher as well as for the OS in general.
I am quite happy you opened this thread with this discussion. There are other users around here such as @JeromeLeung also looking for the best performance vs. battery balance for the Axon 7.
I attach some screenshots of my battery evolution and stats for today.
Basically it drained about 1% during 5 hours at night. At work the signal is even worse and depend on the place in the building. However I spend a lot of time on wifi. At work and during the morning the screen was on for 8 hours while the battery level only drop 50%.
Extrapolating these values to a full battery level, the SOT is about 16 h
During the day I attended 3 phone calls and multiple Skype and WhatsApp calls. I used Spotify during the round trip commuting using Bluetooth. I browsed internet, I used XDA labs app, mail (tons of them), text messages, Skype, hangouts and WhatsApp messages. 4 pictures and I also had to install one app.
I only applied 4 tweaks to get this:
1. Optimized F2FS filesystem
2. Amplify
3. balanced AKT Xhana CPU profile (amazing performance)
4. Dark themes in several apps
All that using ZADmix7 ROM with stock kernel as the base system. I also enjoy premium sound with Viper4Arise that takes some CPU for the audio enhancement while playing music during commuting.
So yes, only 4 tweaks can almost triplicate the screen on time, increase performance and solve the deep sleep problem.

Thanks for the in-depth analysis. Can you explain "Amplify", which of the 5 "Xhana Balanced" profiles you used & looks like you are fine-tuning an update to the application of F2FS? How will that change F2FS implementation for those of us that haven't made the change yet?

I think they released a new all in one script called AKT that only has 2 Xana and 1 Zhana profile. Simpler! :laugh:

The one I was using yesterday was the Xhana profile. It is under the balanced submenu of the AKT command. It won't work on stock kernel unless you enable init.d support before flashing the AKT profiles ZIP. Regarding the F2FS optimization, please read the updated OP of that thread, In my latest posts in that thread I explain the procedure to integrate the mount options in init.d. The rebuild of the filesystem structure with optimized values is about to be simpler, since we are tuning the new TWRP 3.0.3-f2fs with backported F2FS drivers from Android 4.10. Do not use it yet since it can destroy your data partition if you use it as any other TWRP!!!! 3.0.3-1 is the safest so far. But you are safe if you already have a backup of your /data and /sdcard folders.

Got it. I have HawkPepper, just above "Project'. The F2FS optimizations look interesting, but a bit confusing at this point. I used F2FS on my N5, but it was simply a question of having a kernel that supported, saving sdcard contents, changing structure from TWRP and copying tbe data back again.

Axon 7 stock kernel supports F2FS, so you just have to do basically what you did with the N5. However there are some mount options that can optimize the structure created during the data restore, and that depends on the F2FS implementation. There are also some problems with the encryption, this is why I wrote the guide for the Axon 7.

I haven't limited the system too much. I do not want to get rid of receiving messages or limiting location services, so I allowed the wakelocks to be active every 180 sec. I limited: GCoreFlp, Location ManagerService, NlpWakeLock, AudioIn, bluedroid_timer, NlpCollectorWakeLock.
Same for alarms: com.droid27.twc.ACTION_TIMER_TICK, ch.bitspin.timely.widget.UPDATE_ACTION and com.android.chrome/com.google.ipc.invalidation.external.client.contrib.AndroidListener$AlarmReceiver.

As you could see, the magic for saving battery is not Amplify, but the good tunables for the Interactive CPU governor and IO scheduler provided by AKT. These days I have been testing different Governors and I have found that BurnoutPR3 is best for benchmarks but for a daily driver Balanced Shana profile is awesome. With it I get from 10 to 16 hrs. of SOT depending on the high load time I put on the CPU (pictures, video recording time, youtube...).
I never charge the phone by night with the Axon 7 since I do not need it, all thanks to QC 3.0, I barely charge it in my car while commuting to work and by night, if I am under 40%, I load it about 25 mins to 70% and next morning while my 15 mins commuting time it reaches about 85-90% (never full charge it if you want your battery to last more than a few months). Short sessions of quick charge are healthier than long sessions to 100%. On the other hand do never leave your battery run out of charge or close to 0%. AccuBattery app can teach you how to get healthier charging habits.

I never charge the phone by night with the Axon 7 since I do not need it thankls to QC 3.0, I barely charge it in my car while commuting to work and, if by night I am under 40% I load it about 25 mins to 70% and next morning while my 15 mins commuting time it reaches about 85-90% (never full charge it if you want your battery to last more than a few months). Short sessions of quick charge are healthier than long sessions to 100%. On the other hand do never leave your battery run out of charge or close to it.
