Hi all,
Maybe I missed it, but I was wondering if there's a new one-click app (no computer needed) for rooting a VS980 with Lollipop on it. I have 39A on my Verizon phone now (lost root after taking the OTA) and now Stump doesn't work (says "device is patched").
Is there another 1-click, no-PC root method? Otherwise, I'm fine with re-flashing stock, as I'm all backed up. Or, if I simply flash the stock 39A kdz, can I use Stump root again? Ideally, I'd like to not do anything other than use a 1click root tool on what I have now... If one's available.

I'm new to the rooting thing, but i recently rooted my phone with ROOT L7. Then I tried getting cwm to work on it so flashed a custom firmware using KDZ updater. That screwed up my things. So I needed to reset my phone but that did not help. So I got a different stock firmware and flashed that on my phone. but now when I tried to root it it would not work. My L7 is the P705g model running p705 firmware. (Android 4.1.2).
I tried using various root programs like root l7, bin4ry root, and more.
how can I root my phone?
#########EDIT##########
Well,,, that was easy..
I fixed the problem.
I used this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2486512
follow exactly what they tell you to do. I used the CYDIAIMPACTOR one. Option 3 on rooting.
you use the cydia impactor to root, reboot, install SUPERSU from play store then you have root access!!!
Hi, so i got a little problem here.. the thing is i tried to root my lg g2 sprint ( LS980 ) with io root, but than i noticed i canot be rooted because of the android version i have 4.4.2 ( Build KOT48I.LS980ZVE ) so keep searching and found TowelRoot, and when i installed the app it says my device is rooted , but it really isnt... also looking thru the system files i foind a SU file in the Xbin folder... how can i fix this too root the phone ?
can't root lg g2 sprint zve
i am also facing exactly the same problem plz someone help me...
download root checker and double check if you really are not rooted. If not use the lg flash tool and flash a kdz of a firmware version which can be rooted via ioroot for example
Like Krenol said, use root checker to see if you're actually rooted or not, but if you aren't you may also be able to use Stump Root without reverting back to a different firmware. IOroot didn't work for me on the latest firmware when I got my Verizon G2 but stump root worked for me. I can't remember if I had to use the brute force option or not but its worth a shot.
Stump Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/root-stump-root-lg-g3-sprint-verizon-t2850906
Stump root says is rooted.. but the SU app tells me the opposite, il try the downgrade
so then how can i flash a firmware?
I went through all the rooting methods I could find, nothing worked besides KingoRoot. I wasn't happy with not being able to use SuperSu. It comes with KingoUser instead. My workaround was pretty simple. 1) Root with KingoRoot. 2) Install TWRP. 3) Uninstall KingoRoot from in the app. 4) Install SuperSu through TWRP. Done. Rooted, TWRP'd, unrooted, and re-rooted.
Is there a root method for the PL1?
Thanks in advance.
Not afaik.
If you want rooted stock(-ish) PL1 though, a workaround is to:
A) roll back to OF1 stock (w/Odin),
B) root w/ one of the Yemen tools*
C) unlock the bootloader again (CID is already changed on a previously unlocked phone but the Odin stock flash in step (A) re-locks the bootloader)
D) install a custom recovery
E) flash my PL1 ".zip flashable" stock ROM in the recovery (thread in General forum)
F) take the recovery's offer to root the rom, or explicitly flash a SuperSU .zip bundle of your choosing.
G,H) start making twrp/nandroid backups and debloating as desired.
* I've never tried/used these; my Note3 still is on the NC4 bootloader (but w/ updated modem), so I can still flash stock NC4 and root w/ towelroot if I lose everything accidentally. Odin-flashable modems are also provided in that thread.
good luck
Simple
Is there a better method or a tutorial that might make it easier for someone that is more of a layman?
Thanks
I managed to root PL1 using kingroot, although doing so is quite risky in more ways than one. After rooting I found a guide for replacing kingroot with supersu. Id recommend flashing a custom recovery prior to replacing root should you decide to do so. I believe I used an app called TWRP manager for that. Of course if youre going to do that you also need to unlock your boot loader....Not really sure how i did that but I vaguely remember it wreaking havoc on my sd card
I just did this, FYI to all. Kingroot for PL1 on verizon S4, then super-sume to remove it and install superSU. Works great. Kingroot is very shady so hopefully that supersume removed all of it's dirty claws
Is it safe to do this security update on my LGMP260 rooted device? Or will I lose my root?
Not safe.
Currently, of you want the latest stock updates while rooted, you'll have to use the unroot/unbrick method with the latest kdz file. I've tried it with flashify/flashfire in the past to no avail. Ota's also don't seem to like custom recoveries on this device. Best of luck.
Alternatively, use a custom rom like incipient and dirty flash when new updates happen.
You can use LG uppercut to restore the stock kdz, which you can get from here:
Make sure it's the MTP region version
https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-mp260-firmwares/firmwares/
If you restore the kdz, you lose root & everything. Then the existing root method may not work.
