I haven't seen a lot of recent discussion on our GPE devices. I figured we could have one central thread to discuss it.
First order of business: we're expecting 5.1 "early April". Anyone hear of any update to that statement? It feels like we've been lost in the sense lollipop hysteria.
Well, Mo Versi haven't state anything else since then.
I've been waiting this update (5.1) not for what brings but only for the bugfix, i think that is not admissible that HTC takes so much time to fix the back light buttons.
I see what they did here, the M7 isn't the new kid on the block and they have other prioritys now.
Well the more people tweeting Mo about GPE 5.1, the more likely we are to get an answer. I agree though, although I don't have the back light button issue too often, when it does happen it is very annoying. For me, the main benefit I hope 5.1 provides is a fix for the lagginess, battery drain, etc. My phone has not been the same since moving to lollipop. I can only hope 5.1 will fix the majority of these problems.
I saw someone in reddit with an M8 GPE, just got a 5.1 OTA. Hopefully we'll get it soon for our M7

Does anybody got this?
I haven't seen anyone get it yet. I'm monitoring XDA and Reddit.
hey silly question for you guys (i've posted in the support section as well), if you reboot your phone to the bootloader...and try to access your recovery mode, does it work? Or do you get a no command error of some sort? I ask because i've got 2 HTC one's that were converted to GPe and i'm looking for some more perspective.
Thank you

My phone is converted to GPE. When i go to stock recovery it gives me the flipped over android with his chest open. So, works fine for me.
I'm Stock, Unrooted, (Re-)Locked, S-Off
Thanks kewjoe, so just to be clear, yours look nothing like anything in my post here right?

Actually mine does look like that. So sounds like I'm in the same boat at you.
Just press power and then volume up together to get the recovery
Okay thanks for confirming. Wonder if that'll effect our ability to get 5.1....
@theclaytons, i know. But my silly logic thinks its broken and wonders why you'd have to do it that way.
I think the biggest issue with us getting 5.1 is HTC and Google sorting out how to release the OTA!
Haha couldn't agree with you more. I NEED THIS NAO!
Does any of you guys have a problem with the adaptive brightness? When I'm on dark places it unlocks at full brightness level, if I locked/unlocked a few times it solves but it's really annoying.
I had so many problems with 5.01. Yes adaptive brightness is one of them.
Guess no 5.1 for us? Or HTC is too embarrassed to admit something is wrong

Hello
I was wanting to root my HTC Wildfire running Android 2.2 but i dont know how to do it? Can somebody Please help me!
Thanks,
Alistair
Wrong topic under wrong podforum. Try browsing Wildfire development, you'll find your answer there.
P.s.
The answer is, you can't. Get in line and wait unrevoked.

WAIT for the USELESS Unrevoked?????
IMPOSSIBLE!!!!! .v.
I have been waiting for it for more than 3 months!!!!!
FXXX IT!
well... Truth be told it's getting really ridiculous.
Three months later and after some recorder succesfull cases of S-Off they didnt even so much as bother releasing any news on the progress.
I'm with everyone stating we shouldn't be demanding anything since its not a right its just something they do on their spare time but if they cant make it work at least give it out to the community to try.
After all, nobody started out knowing everything they had help from the rest of the android world like anybody would. Isn't it time to give something back? Even if its just an update on their progress.

It's true though, and the thing is no matter what device I buy, it always in the corner of the room not being able to enjoy the party.
Happened with iPod Touch 2G MC, had to wait for months to get jailbreak just because our devices were unique and we have different bootroms.
And now HTC Wildfire, I bought the phone after getting the news that HTC Wildfire will be getting Froyo update, but now stuck with it with no root. I should've asked them if there were any handsets left with 2.1 Stock in it. :\

Haha, I was in the same boat with my iPod Touch 3G 32GB bought last October. I clearly remember going to Chronic Dev's website every few hours just to check up on the progress of Greenpoison, and the anticlimax that was when limera1n was released.
Thankfully, had better luck with my Wildfire, although I had previously decided to get the 2.2 OTA just to check it out (Because, at the very beginning, I was afraid to root and all, since the guides seemed complex), I am glad I didn't.

This is officially the 2000th topic asking the same damn question. Congrats.
No need to be so rude, everyone want's to know how the dev team is doing, and we all wait for the same answer. So we'll just have to wait and see.
Has anyone in the UK got the recent update, everytime I check there is no update
Sent from the Beast that is the HTC One X in white......
Got enough posts and threads on this SO I am closing this one as it looks like this is old news now
THREAD CLOSED
Asus' Italian branch office posted two days ago on their facebook stream that the update for WW SKUs is held up pending approval by Google.
Take that with a grain of salt about the size of the Empire State Building, however, since at first they blamed excessive load on their servers, then they shifted the blame on Google
That and the fact that it doesn't seem to fix anything, maybe they have pulled it.

I think SEEM in the operative word, as it clearly fixes lots of things, but perhaps not what you want it to fix...

I think I read you can't do the OTA if you have CWM installed, and you have to install the stock recovery.
Did you try this?

In an effort to keep the R&D thread for the bootloader unlock thread clean and on point please post here if you feel the need to comment, discuss, vent, chat, etc. about the issue. The other thread should be used for delivery of facts and options for unlocking the bootloader. It will make mining for information much easier if we keep it clean.
Thanks,
DX
Will see, but as it was stated when I posted this same thing, people just don't read. But very good idea. do not post there, post here.
I don't see the point to giving people a place to whine about it all over again. I still believe it will be released for this weekend. I don't know why but that's my hunch. My only issue with this whole things is not that djrbliss didn't release it yet, but that based on his announcement I think all other very talented people backed off trying to achieve the same thing. In the end it won't matter. Once it's out - it's out.
No whining or nagging people. Like I said once before, you are alive and well in a world with plenty of issues. You have a very high end piece of hardware in your hand. Enjoy it, smile, do some soft modding as has been going on, and relax until the unlock is released.

Just got this update. Anyone know what it does? I lost root, but Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper got it back for me. Just had to update SuperSU binaries. Going into App Manager, I still don't see the option to move apps to SD.
EDIT - So this is what ATT says is in the update.
Software update includes
Touch screen senstivity improvement
Enhanced Multi window experience
S-Health version updated

The OP did put the firmware version in the title, so that helps, but still should have took 2 seconds to do a simple search and a little reading before posting in the first place. What I don't understand is even if people don't search and read on their own, how can they miss the "similar threads" list that automatically displays for them before they even make the post? There is no excuse for that. And, there is no excuse for all of the people saying they searched but didn't se anything because they used the "XDA app". If the XDA app isn't working for searches, stop using it. The phone browser(s) handle the XDA site just fine without an app.
It really just comes down to people not following the rules and being to lazy to search and read...so maybe this thread should be locked after all.
No question is silly question..

agreed, what they are saying is that there are many threads that have the info you are inquiring about. No need to start another thread on this endless subject. Besides, these guys are brutal on this dupe thread stuff.

But this thread was not a question. And if OP had searched (ANYWHERE) he/she could have seen that this is not a new update. So this looks like a thread reporting a new update.
Hopefully mods will delete as it is not useful and only adds FUD.

I bought a OnePlus One a few months ago and temporarily switched over from my Z2, and just ended up switching back to the Z2 a few days ago. Even though the OnePlus and Cyanogen are a great pairing, the camera quality on the OPO (even if it is using Sony camera hardware) isn't as good as the Z2, and it's faced with the same WiFi and buggy touchscreen issues and random reboots that a lot of Cyanogen builds have. I also have a Sony DSC-QX10 and a Moto 360, and it just never can maintain a strong connection with those devices and will sporadically drop/reconnect when using them. Also, the "Sandstone" backing on the OPO also starts to wear off after a while, and dust seems to build up in the weirdest places along the edges of the phone after being in your pocket for a bit.
It's a great phone for the price, nonetheless, but I just can't see fully replacing an Xperia with a OnePlus at this point...

I believe you are right...
I really thought to buy opo, not to abandon Xperias for good but to wait for Z4 on something different...
Even I was satisfied with Z2 fw...
But then Sony released 167 fw and all my doubts have gone...
You are the fifth one who said opo isn't that good as advertised and what bunch of users said when it was launched...
Tnx for all informations, this was very helpful ?
I flashed Android 5.0 today, in my Nexus 7 and, even it's not official, it's very, very good.
ART is interesting as well, just like whole dev tree...
I can't wait to see what will Sony do on 5.0 UI.
Another great option is to invert framework color, so you can have dark, or better to say black UI in a second, with a one pressed button...
Yes, this is kinda off topic but I just wanted to share few lines and didn't want to spam section with unnecessary thread...
