Any recommended settings for getting punchy and vibrant, non-oversaturated colors? I like my screen a bit dark and then compensating the lack of overall brightness with using some more screen brightness instead - the best of two worlds?

Sorry, no recommended setting
But i will try to find it

Here is mine:
R: 256
G: 256
B: 256
Minimum RGB value: 35
Saturation: 45
Hue: 0
Screen value: 127
Screen contrast: 127
Using 3.4.0 SlimLP 1.3 kernel
Also I set these by "Kernel Adiutor" app wich has screen controls

Try this > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59959665&postcount=21
reduce blue and green cuz our display (Xperia Z1 & Z2) is bluish

a non-oversaturated screen + dark overall colors + making the screen more bright is a really hard combination to figure out!
but i tried 2 different settings that maybe fits your recommendation.
as i tried different setting that combines all your requests, i got that we cant have a dark screen with a good brightness in a good case.
======================
Setting #1 : Punchy Dark N.O.S.
White Balance:
Red:64
Green:64
Blue:85
Color Control:
Saturation:50-60 (as you prefer)
Value:120
Contrast:145
======================
Setting #2 : N.O.S + Bright Screen
White Balance:
Red:0
Green:0
Blue:40
Color Control:
Saturation:55
value:135
Contrast:142
======================
Note1: the first setting is better in my opinion because it has a better viewing angles
Note2: Set the white balance after the color control(because after setting color control, the white balance restores somehow!! )
Note3: You can set the saturation as you like in both setting but i prefer these

How to decrease minimum backlight level?

Is there a way to decrease the minimum back-light level on a CM7 ROM?
I always prefer to keep back-light level as low as possible and not using automatic setting for it.
Recently I've tried one of the MIUI roms and noticed that the lowest back-light level on it is way dimmer that on CM7 ROMs. It allowed me to noticeably save on battery.
So is there any way to do it on CM7 based ROMs?

Tried and tested with typhoon rom. After usind this lib the cm7 autobacklight level should woork correctly..but therefore some LED Notification will behave a bit strange...you will be able to life with that. (=

not 100% as I use a CM mod (AMA), but check Settings / CM Settings / Display/ Automatic Brightness / Edit Other Levels

OK. I've tried it and saw absolutely no difference in minimum backlight level.
When I move the backlight level slider all the way down it is still on the same level
as with older libs. And it did break notification lights.
As I've mentioned before I am not using autobacklight at all. I just want to have manual backlight level go much lower.
There is a free app in the Android Market that will do just what you want. It's called Screen Filter. Using this app, you can set your backlight level very low, and even put a widget pre-set to your preferred brightness level on one of your homescreens.

This app is a fake. It does not decrease backlight level, but instead dims lcd pixels, which is not the same. Hence no power saving benefits. It would only help with OLED screens.

that's how it comes with AMA, which is based on CM7.1, so it could be part of the original CM (have no way to check as I don't use NAND builds)

Ah..I see. That is SD build.
OK. Looks like CM7 autobacklight works if I replace lights libs now (loosing LED blinking though). I guess I'll try it out and see how it turns out.
Thank you all.
One thing I've noticed that backlight level number is not very granular.
As there is no difference if I have it set to 1, 5, 10, 15 or 20. It only changes at 25

it might depend on the brightness ranges/thresholds - I've noticed in my build that if first two ranges are set as 0-100 and 100-200, the first one is ignored if upper limit is below 225, so I always get the screen brightness of the second range
I was looking for a dimmer lowest setting for the back light & tried Screen Filter BUT found it left the "black screen" well lit but everything else faded, almost like the colours were merging to gray rather than being dimmer.
Anyway, my need was for the clock display to be dim but found the Clock app's day/night mode button takes the clock display brightness right down low; lower than the manual screen brightness setting for sure... but only in the clock.
Hopefully any other noobs to Cyanogen / non-Sense ROMs may find this relevant! ;.)

How to turn off softkeys on Atrix 4G - Backlight buttons

How can I turn the capacitive buttons on the Atrix?
Any mods?
Also anyone know an app like Bebuzz on BlackBerry which will make notification light flash a rainbow of colors?
Thanks in advance guys

Well, found this

You're on CM7, you don't need app for controlling backlight.
Settings -> CM settings -> display -> Automatic backlight
check "use custom", edit other levels
and here define desired values for screen and buttons backlight in certain conditions.
Feel free to click "thanks"
jeez, if you're on CM7 you clearly are missing out on half the features!
like said above, you can adjust ALL aspects of brightness levels, thresholds, etc (screen and buttons) in the settings -> CM settings -> display -> automatic backlight -> use custom / edit other levels.
as for LED notifications, that's in CM settings -> interface -> LED notifications. take an hour or so and just explore the CM settings menu. you'll be amazed at what you can do.

Yeah I had seen those options but didn't know what each thing ment. But some one posted a guide and I just copied his setup. I'm using most of cm7 features :-/ what ever happen to that kernel some one was developing that controlled the back lighting vultage? Cause when I was reading that thread they were stating how dimming screen with an app like super dim only put a filter over your screen to make it look darker but didn't save nearly as much battery as lowering the vultage to make screen dimmer using the kernel.

Browser brightness ???

Anyone know to change browser brightness ??? I already set maximum brightness on setting but the White background is so dim... I got headache and dizzy after a few minutes of using which i don know why ( never got this when using my iphone 4s with maximum brightness )
You can't change the browser (Chrome) brightness independently of the system brightness. Not sure about 3rd party browsers as I don't use them. If you turn off auto brightness in settings and set it to full, that is the brightest it will get.
I've just set my brightness to high and the white is VERY bright, maybe you have a faulty display?

If you use a custom kernel you can customize the colors to your liking. Use Trickster Mod to change colors as an free alternative.

[Screen Tune Settings] for Balanced Color and Saturation!

Possibly the largest complaint I have with the Galaxy S2 is the screen color balance.
Im guessing they did this for the wow pop factor that is so common when you're shopping for TVs. Yeah, looks cool when you first see it, but after a while, its bugs you. Well, it bugs me. The AMOLED screen has insane contrast ratio.
So after some mucking about, I got the color balance the best I could get on my phone while still keeping the contrast ratio the same. I avoided filter apps such as Screen Adjuster. Its not perfectly balanced, but Its Waaaay better from how it is stock. My settings may not work for you, but will give you a starting point to tune yourself.
------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements:
1. Touchwiz Rom or AOSP like CM10.1/CM10.2 (Pretty much any ROM will work I think. I did this on CM10.1)
2. Dorimanx Kernel (Important, will allow you to do some fine tuning) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617219
3. STweaks. This is to access the kernel features. On the latest kernel 9.37, this app wasnt included in the kernel. You can find it in the play store here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gokhanmoral.stweaks.app&hl=en
-----------------------------------------------------------
How to: CM10.1/ CM10.2 (AOSP)
1. Go to "Settings"
2. Click "Advanced"
3. Go to "Screen" tab
4. Click on 'Mode"
5. Set the mDNIe Mode to "Natural"
6. Now open the "STweaks" app
7. Go to "Screen" tab
8. Uncheck "LCD REDUCE POWER"
8. Set "Blue Color scale" to 132
9. Set "Red Color scale" to 132
10. Restart Phone
11. Profit?
---------------------------------------------------------------
How to: Touchwiz
1. Go to "Settings"
2. Go to "Display"
3. Change the mDNIe Mode to "Natural". I don't know exactly how to get there; I haven't used a touchwiz ROM for over a year... I forgot. But its under Display... somewhere lol (if anyone can tell me how to get there, ill update the post)
4. Now open the "STweaks" app
5. Go to "Screen" tab
6. Uncheck "LCD REDUCE POWER"
7. Set "Blue Color scale" to 132
8. Set "Red Color scale" to 132
9. Check "mDNIe Sharpness Tweaks"
10. Restart Phone
11. Done.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now the screen settings may not be perfect for everyone. But you can tune it using the color scale. The goal is to make the grays too look actually gray. Tune it so there is no shade of yellow, blue, green or red.
I tried to match the gray present in the Messaging app on CM10.1. Worked for me.
All credits go to the Devs who made this possible.
Will this work on Apollo Kernel 4.9? stweaks descriptions says it's for siyah kernel only? I'm running Neatrom lite.
EDIT:
Using the Screen Adjuster filter, install button on application installation panel doesn't work. Hence not recommended.
I use check. Lcd reduce, and set blue to 123 in stweaks.
Screen set to standard. Natural look awful

I havent tried that kernel. STweak works with any SII kernel that allows you to make some kernel tweaks. Its a frontend app.

For those not geeky, staying away from rooting may try an app on playstore SCREEN ADJUSTER apk. Worth trying though the adjustments required in my case were very minimal, increased marginally blue, red, reduce brightness a bit and lower contrast.

I mentioned screen adjuster in my OP. Although it allows you do tune color somewhat, the major downside is that it decreases contrast and lights up black pixels. this can decrease battery life. But I agree, If you are staying away from Kernels, than it works okay.

Nice. I Tuned the screen as close I can get to my Nexus 7 (2013). The i9100's screen is way supersaturated. But, I understand, to each their own
So, settings from first post is tuned to look like an nexus 7. Colors seems to pale forme then !!? I will try to set my s2 according to my Optimus g.
Galaxy S2 powered by Dorimanx!
Good post, but one problem with this is that although it fixes the greyscale, the whites still look awful at anything other than full brightness perhaps. There is still way too much green, and I suspect Samsung made it that way due to OLED degradation issues with the S2 having a RGB pixel layout.I managed to fix the whites by modifying the excellent Galactic Night app made by arpruss, however I had some SOD issues that I suspected had to do with the app so I gave up on it.
If someone is interested I've developed an App called "ColorModeChanger" to change saturation and color mode of AMOLED screens. You can visit this XDA thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3154845
Here is my settings.. RR 5.5.2 rom. This setting is for cm12 based ROMs and looks great.

[Q] Issue - Yellowish color screen after flashing arymod 4.0 and Flex_Lollipop Rev2.1

Yellowish color screen after flashing arymod 4.0 or Flex_Lollipop Rev2.1, also tried 3 different kernels: LP_Xplorer_Rev1.7, darkqueen latest and perseo matergold. Still can´t get rid of this yellowish tint when the screen gets dimmer.
A photo would be good, I guess?
So you have only two options, either flash Stock ROM and have the display as it was, or you can use the app Screen Adjuster and turn up the Blue channel to neutralize the Yellowish effect. Remember, with that app you will just be masking the tint, not get rid of it, well not fundamentally.

Thanks for the help, I've also tried that app but the problem is if I neutralize at lower dim when brightness goes up the colors are messed up again. I´ll post screenshot.
I was going to post screenshot but it doesn´t show the problem and I don't have a secundary camera to take a photo.

Oh okay. Then you will have to ditch either the ROM or the kernel, I can't be sure which one is causing that (or maybe this is intentional), look for which one says stuffs about display tweaking, should be mentioned under the details of either the ROM or the kernel.
And screenshot won't capture that actually, a photo is needed, from a camera. Screenshots from all the Note 3 of the world will look all same.

I thought there was way to upload a synapse profile or something that could neutralize this. Everything works like a charm and at high brightness there is no yellowish issue only when it's dimmer.
