I'm using MediaPlayer to develop a player app and I'd like to let the user set the speed. But MediaPlayer doesn't have this feature. SoundPool let me change its speed but it seems I'd have problems with large files.
Can anyone give me some help?
Thanks!

You can use AudioTrack, but the downside will be affected frequency.
Have you considered using some lower-level frameworks (e.g. Alsa/TinyAlsa)?

I've been watching a few videos on my Mogul and have noticed that I cannot seem to get the audio and video to match up quite right no matter what settings I use. Has anyone played around with the settings to get the best performance out of TCPMP on their mogul? What settings are you using?
Hope this hasn't been discussed before, I searched but found nothing useful.

Here's my settings and they work great. Go to Options-Video and set it to GDI.
Then go to Options-Settings-Select Page-Advanced then go to the Manual A/V offset +/- and type in "-300" without the quotes.
That will make the lips sync with the sound.
Enjoy.
Thanks! Definitely a lot better!
Curious, what does GDI stand for?

Is GDI really the fastest choice on the Mogul? I had heard that until recently Raw FrameBuffer was the best choice, and that now with 6.1 DirectDraw is also good.

I think there is little difference between Raw FrameBuffer and GDI but have mine on GDI. I see a reduction in quality in DirectDraw as the Titan does not have the drivers to run it properly. There was quite a bit of discussion on this in one of the past two ROM threads. Try both and see what suits your needs best. These settings only affect TCPMP though.
Awesome thanks for the settings! Does anyone know if this player plays wmv files? WHen I use the browser in TCMP player WMV files do not show, any ideas?

I dont see WMV on the list but you can associate media files at the following. Launch TCMTP and go to Options>Settings...>Select Page>File Associations
I just bought the newest coreplayer because it bothered me that there was so much i could not play smooth or could not play at all.
I now have it installed, and i was wondering what the best settings are so it will play any video smooth.....
Any suggestions?
I'd like to know that too.

coreplayer can be downloaded free [WAREZ], works like a treat.

There is no free Coreplayer unless it's cracked right? That would be illegal mate and make the mods come knocking on your door very quickly....
Just a hint....
To get back on-topic:
If you have coreplayer then you can play almost any avi, mp4, xvid file you might have. No need to encode movies, unless you want to shrink down the size and resolutions, otherwise... copy, paste and play
lol, nevermind

its not cracked, however its a 30 day trial

Got a link to that?
There is no 30 day trial. If there was then you'd be able to download it directly from the publisher.

Thanks kyphur that was my suspicion
so no one can answer the first post then??
I benchmarked a few things and came up with these settings:
These speed up things a little, but not much. (+1fps):
Video:
- "QTv Display" is fastest for me
- "Smooth Zoom" : "Only for 50%" <--- screen resolution is high, you will not see a difference in quality.
Advanced:
- "Slow video memory" : Enable <--- Speedup!
- "Higher priority music playback" : Enable <---- Music plays even if you surf in Opera.
- "Disable AVC deblocking filter" <---- enormous speedup, but makes the quality of the video worse (blocking/artiiacts)
QTv Display:
- "TyTN II" driver mode: Enable <----- Speedup on X1
Other settings (no speedup, but are nice):
Player:
- Play music in background
- Single click fullscreen
Advanced:
- Register with SPB Menu system
Is your xperia a prototype? I've got a release one and CorePlayer seems to be able to use the Imageon chip (fast)
Coreplayer don't use the imagineon chip...

exact same issue for me, was wondering if anyone got a fix for it ?
yeah I asked the same question and they need to give us an update for the youtube.
coreplayer integrated youtube
The integrated youtube used to work on all settings. Now it seems it only works on the RTSP setting under network. This is the lowest possible quality but it works.

why don't you use the standalone youtube app to access youtube video? I think the interface is so much better.

hy, i found the solution, just change the "YouTube Format" in the network settings to "RTSP (medium)" and the integratet browser and player works like a charm but, now i have the next problem ^^ is it possible to stream any tv shows like giga etc? i always get error messages. i think the xperia has superior hardware but the software is just some piece of ****. at the moment i can stream nearly nothing ^^ is that a fault of the codecs or of the player itself?
Very strange - on my sex1 this player is SLOW AS HELL!!!
Only 10fps! Video 800x480x25 etc. according the Encoder's settings.
But Windows Media works normal at the same time............

So I'm looking for a good program to convert mpeg's to .mp4's to view on my TP2. I have googled and found ALOT of different ones, but I just wanted to see what others were using or could recommend. Something that can convert dvd's to a viewable file type for my TP2 as well is desired.
pretty damn good one and free to is. DVDVIDEOSOFT
Download Free Studio entirely
comes with a whole set of real nice apps for audio and video plus a manager that can open and control or open all or any of them.
or can just get one at a time and download but i advice to get the studio
also there is AVS4YOU http://www.avs4you.com/ which cost 59 but its for every thing and ALL there software for life.
They both come with converters that create or convert into cell formats. Including youtube.
this app is the best http://handbrake.fr/
i have tried many of the apps listed as well as others but i use this one all the time for dvd rip and convert to mp4 it has a default setting for mp4 mobile phones so it is very easy to use also has mkv format and its free

This is the one I use, I find it smallest and easiest to use, I can queue up files and go to work, it never crashed so far.
I use Custom option and ensode with 900kbit to get very good quality
Highly recommended!
The only other applcation I use sometimes is TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress becuase it is using the power of my nvidia card when encoding.
I want to make a .mp4 streamable, I have tried every program that is out on the internet. Also I know by a guy I asked, that you must have at least 2 programs to make it streamable, and that the second program is not know by many peoples.
So does anybody know anything? I will be VERY grateful. Also I would buy you a beer or two
Thanks.
Do you have MP4Box? If so you can easily add the -isma and -inter 500 settings to add streaming optimizations to the movie. The other key is that you have a web server that supports byte level gets such as apache.
If you can provide more details about the MP4, what codecs it uses, bitrates, etc.
Good luck,
Rick

Strange, I did as you said and uploaded to my server (it runs Lite Speed, its like apache) In the emulator the video plays, but after a while i get an error: "Sorry, this video cannot be played" BUT THE VIDEO KEEPS PLAYING! lol?
Or is that just a emulator problem? I don't have a "crappy" android phone near me so I can test it. My phone has a streaming player built in that streams almost everything. So my phone didn't have any problem streaming it.
Well thanks anyway!
I was wondering if it would be possible to make an App like the Avatar App or Inception App on the Vibrant/4G for different movies? Has anyone done this before? Thanks.

It would help those us that have no idea what those apps do if you would explain what it is you want to do in a little more detail.
i like this idea, would be pretty cool. instead of searching for it through the gallery.

The app would just link to the movie file. For example, the Avatar App when clicked would simply load up the Avatar movie, Inception app would load up Inception movie.
Where is the actual movie file?
At any rate, you can play a video file, local or networked, using the MediaPlayer class and a SurfaceView.

the video file is located on either the internal or external memory. The app will just be a shortcut to the file. So instead of having to go to the gallery and clicking on it, the app will open the file in a video player.
See how it works at 10:29 in this video.
