Hi, I live in the UK I currently own a Samsung Galaxy S4 19505, I was hoping to receive the lollipop update but sadly I haven't got it both of my brothers which own the same device have gotten the update, Could I have not got it because I screwed something up when Un rooting?
Possibly. Especially if you and your brothers all use the same carrier. However, save yourself the hassle of waiting for an OTA update. There should be links in this forum to download the latest Lollipop ROM for the UK. You can flash it yourself and then be good. Better yet, you'll be back to official status again, at least until you root.

Sadly I can't upload images or links. But downloading that App and comparing it with my brothers phone, I have an EE version of the device he has the Normal black Samsung edition. He has the Firmware updates I don't I'm guessing I'd need to wait till EE decide to push out the updates?

Unless you want your phone IMEI cloned, edit your post.
Until EE pushes an update, you should wait. Especially if the S4 is still SIM locked.

Alright thank you, No the S4 Isn't Sim locked
@nachashh: Ok, the fact your phone is unlocked changes things. I worked under the assumption that your phone was still SIM locked when I told you to hold off. If your phone is unlocked you have no restrictions on what ROM you can install. So you actually can install one of the unbranded Android 5.0.1 ROMs we have here and should have no ill effects from doing so. Personally, since you are in the UK, the BTU ROM is your best choice.

Even with a SIM lock you can still install any rom.
You can, but I've seen others recommend against it because of carrier modifications, especially on sammobile. Better to play it safe.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 (International unlocked) and I have rooted it, and via Odin I have installed Android 4.4.2 (KitKat - it is the version from Poland since it has not been released for the UK yet). Everything is working pretty smoothly but Three has started sending out OTA updates which are needed in order to be able to receive 4G and I can not get the update because my phone has been rooted. To get around this problem this is what I have tried so far:
1: Contacted Three and asked them if they can give me the update in ANY other way, such as text, new SIM etc Three refused and said it is only available OTA.
2: Unrooted my phone by flashing my phone with the Kitkat ROM from Sam firmware taking it back to stock, but then when I search for updates, it says that my device has been modified. I know that SD cards can cause this problem so I removed the SD and rebooted but it was the same.
3: Did a factory reset, cleared partition/Dalvik cache etc then installed 4.4.2 - still says that my device has been modified so no update!
Is it possible that tripping my Knox counter (yes it has/don't care) can prevent OTA updates? I would have thought this unlikely?
Is it possible that Samsung is detecting that the version of Android that I am using, although official has not been released for this country?
Does anyone know where I can get the Three 4G OTA to install it manually? Would it be a case of flashing it with ODIN or is it a zip file?
Thanks in advance for any help on this one.

You won't need the OTA update as the XEO (Poland) firmware has 4G/LTE compatibility on it. You have to wait for Three to roll out your 4G properly, up until now unless you're in London it's only in test phase.
Poland 4G
Many thanks for that info. Will it work OK here though? Is it for same frequencies etc?
I am in London and they have started rolling it out to ordinary members of the public, people online have been saying that they have got it so it may reach me soon.

Three 4G OTA update - Any ideas anyone?
I have been in touch with three and they tell me that apart from enabling 4G in the phone settings and having the latest software etc I do still need to receive a specific OTA update from three, in order for their 4G to work, so I guess my initial questions still stand.Any ideas anyone?

Hi, I am in a very similar situation. I too have a GN3 9005, also on threeUK network. I bought the phone from amazon.co.uk, so I dont have any three stuff on it. I am also rooted and flashed the leaked firmware and so far so good. I am also a bit worried that we might not get the 4G update if we are rooted. I am also waiting for the official firmware for UK model on samfirmware, hopefully if you flash that you should be on the correct track to receive the update.
Can I ask which file did you use to go back to stock? And did you boot into the official samsung recovery and did a factory reset/wipe cache ??
Maybe the solution to your question.
Let us know what happens.
Note 3 Three 4G Update OTA
Thanks for the post. I am trying some things now including your suggestion and I will let you know what happened once I finish.
I bought somebody's unwanted upgrade on O2. I then unlocked it and am now using my 3 PAYG sim.
Currently my network settings don't show 4G as an option either.
Does anybody know if I'll get the 3 OTA update, even though the phone is running an O2 stock 4.3 unrooted ROM?
since your device is rooted , why not just change csc version to your country
On the Polish XEO firmware (custom ROMs also) - I get 4G without any updates on Three and O2... my device status is custom and I've not had an OTA update since the day I bought my phone in Oct and It has been wiped and reset many times since.. So not sure why you cannot get it.
OK I think I have gotten to the bottom of this now
Right here goes:
1. Flashed clean Android 4.4.2 Kitkat official Polish ROM from SamFirmware. Tested OTA Update=Your device has been modified.
2. Rooted via CF Root and then downloaded Chainfire Triangle away (the latest version supports Note 3) then run it to reset flash counter. Please note that I did not reset Knox counter only the flash counter. Tested OTA Update=Your device has been modified.
3.Booted into recovery mode - did a wipe of cache partition, Tested OTA Update=Your device has been modified.
4. Booted back into recovery mode and did a factory reset, Tested OTA Update=SUCCESS! "You have the latest updates" message.
So...nothing to do with Polish ROM, everything to do with Flash counter on 0 and a factory reset using the default recovery.
So I hope this helps you all if you are in a similar position, however for me the main reason for me to be rooted is to have Nandroid backups via clockwork mod. Within 5 mins of the above I had re installed clockwork mod again and then used it to restore my phone exactly the way it was just before I started. The fact that there was no OTA means that I am going to just wait and see if my phone picks up 4G on its own since in network settings I have the option of LTE listed. If not then I now know exactly what I need to to to get the update but if I have to do it I will have to set up my phone again from scratch and I really cant be bothered so I am going to put it off for now.

Three 4G OTA Update on rooted phone
Spoke to Three looking for 4G update info and established that although an update from three is required for 4G, it is not an OTA update, it is via text message, so everyone with a rooted phone does not need to worry as long as 4G or LTE is selectable in the phone menu.
Lastly the text update is slowly being sent to all three customers with a 4G compatible phone between now and the end of March, so everyone should have it before April.
Cheers.

So pretty much APN settings sent via text, same way carriers provide MMS settings updates then.
Hi. Thanks for the info. My problem is that LTE/4G is not appearing in my network options or indeed anywhere else.
Will I still get the text message?

Yeah you'll get it.
Three 4G
In order to get 4G from three you must have 4G or LTE selectable in your phone settings plus the other text from three for settings.
The first one is via OTA update.
If you are rooted you may get it depending on how much your system has changed.
Personally I could not getget OTAs so I downloaded Android Kitkat 4.4.2 from Sammobile which also comes with LTE support. It worked for me.

Nightmare. I really don't want to root this phone. I've rooted every other phone I've had, pretty much as soon I've bought it and although the custom ROMs I've used have been pretty good, there's always been something that has not worked quite well enough with the odd bug here and there. The stock 4.3 ROM seems to be perfect at the moment - no bugs and decent battery life. Hence my reluctance to root and flash anything else.
Surely there must be a way to get the OTA without rooting?
The only reason I bought this phone was for the 4G. I'm beginning to regret it. Other than the LTE support, I honestly haven't seen any serious differences to justify upgrading to the Note 3 from the Note 2, which is an amazing phone. I'm wondering if I might just cut my losses and sell the Note 3, if I can't use the 4G.

Your question has already been answered in a previous thread you started. Your phone is on BOG5 firmware therefore the only firmware you can flash onto your phone is BOG5. BOC4 and BOD5 can be rooted, but you cannot flash either onto your phone. Your phone cannot be rooted.
Ouch! Frosty are we? Must have been a bad day as usual for you..
Anyway, FYI: I didn't ask that question before, I asked about downgrading ans this is about replacing current 5.0 firmwares with other 5.0 firmwares.
Lighten up man, take it easy with life and you won't be so bitter all the the time.

The problem is this question has been asked many times and the answer will never change. If you are on OG5, you cannot downgrade, you cannot flash backwards, and you cannot root. Period. Sorry, but you can thank Verizon and Samsung for that.
Any likely root to come out in the near future then? For example when this version of firmware gets old and they get another update firmware released.
Not unless someone finds a usable exploit. Possible, but not looking very good.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of flashing this onto my smg935u? Is it as simple as downloading the new firmware and flashing through odin? I ask because I tried flashing the previous tmobile firmware onto my phone was unsuccessful. Not sure if I did something wrong. I'm relatively new to this, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm downloading the Tmo firmware now and wondering the same thing. I'm pretty confused about CSC/regional stuff, i think it could possibly depend on what regional firmware and settings you are currently on., maybe. This is what Phone Info has to say about my current firmware, I'm on the generic firmware that came with the phone and using a T-Mobile SIM. Maybe someone will be able to enlighten us

If you are using the g935u version, you'll have to wait until Samsung releases the update specifically for the device. Usually it comes a couple weeks after the carrier update is pushed to their devices. It sucks.
I was able to flash the tmobile nougat update, so I'm happy about that..I was initially going to waiting after my last failed attempt, but I figured I'd give it another try. I don't have any faith in Samsung releasing any updates in a timely fashion for the unlocked version at this point, and it's pretty nice having access to some of the tmobile features like Samsung cloud and FM radio..
What about the language support for this new version?

It's a little ridiculous that the factory unlocked version is getting updates after carrier branded variants. The S7 Edge is my first non-nexus Android phone, and it looks like it may be the last if this is how updates are handled. Hopefully v2 of the Pixel delivers...

Hi All,
I'm a little confused as to where us U firmware users stand with Nougat. I've seen differing reports of what the known plan is with this. I believe some are saying we're waiting for Verizon to release it to the 935u, otherwise I'm reading that we're on a quarterly update schedule and won't be seeing anything until April.
I bought my 935V from VZW and flashed over to unrooted U firmware - actually by using the normal flash method and then doing a firmware restore from verizon's utility to get full unroot. Not exactly a typical method, but it gave me peace of mind knowing everything is completely stock U.
Everything is running great so I'm not in urgent need of an update for any reason, but would like to see some new features.
Lemme know if anyone has any clues here as for what to expect. Thanks in advance!
Not exactly sure what you mean by going full "unroot".. unless you ment, you wanted the U firmware for a smoother "root" can you please clarify bubby?

Good to know. Thanks.
I had to root in order to flash U FW, but the root process we have for GS7 is really process heavy and battery draining. I wanted an unrooted version of the U firmware with no bullsh*t and good battery life so I unrooted and restored using the software tool.

Ah Gotcha, sorry I misunderstood the op. Maybe give the T or V carrier FW a spin till U gets released? I haven't upgraded yet but am tempted. Been using stang 5.0 rom and been pretty impressed. I'd say I would recommend it even with the faults of the eng boot.
I also believe I seen a "no root no bull**** playstore Nougat rom" by jkruse, or something to that effect. If that's something your into
Lots of cry babies over in the Samsung forums. I can see why everyone is so upset but Samsung never promised faster updates for unlocked variants over carrier models. I'm content waiting at least until April for the nougat release of the 935u. Screw Verizon bloat. It's not worth putting up with it for Nougat.
There are some articles with Samsung's new commitment for monthly security updates on unlocked devices. This should mean that the 935U will get Nougat this month with March security update.

Also, I read that someone had been having issues with using LTE while in a phone call, can anyone confirm? And what happened to all the other fix files, since I remember the first time flashing the unlocked software required more subsequent flashes as well.
So, I live out of the US and I don't have an AT&T SIM. I bought an S10+ which is (I assume) unlocked from AT&T, so my SIM is working. Out of the box it updated to g975usqs1asd9. I've read on an AT&T support page that the device must be on AT&T network to update.
Now I'm slightly worried, will I receive more updates in the future because I will not be in the US that often and on AT&T. How did it receive this one?
Is there a way to continue OTA updates in the future with the stock ROM?
You can flash through odin. Unless things have changed, I've never had an (non-iphone)ATT phone update OTA when on another network.

Ok, so that means I should just monitor when new versions show up and then flash them manually. No big deal, I guess . I've done this before, but I was never in this kind of situation.
