Hello All -
I recently needed to find a new android phone for use on at&t network in the US - I was looking only at unlocked phones, focusing on quad core phones, preferably 2gb of Ram, and 32gb+ of onboard memory (or at least SD card expansion).
I mostly recently was on the HTC One X and briefly used the Nexus 4 - After some research I decided to give the Xiaomi Mi-2 a shot given its specs:
- 2GB of RAM
- a quad core CPU at 1.5Ghz
- a 2000mAh removable battery
- a 4.3” display
- 32GB Internal Memory (no SD)
- MIUI Jellybean based ROM
Hardware wise the phone hit all my needs - Software wise it is primarily tied into the MIUI Rom. While the bootloader is not unlocked, Xiaomi also offers stock Jellybean android for the phone as well.
The Mi-2 is mostly sold in China, but recent expansion into Australia and the UK has been announced as well. Given I am in the US, my best option was to order from China - As there are fake Mi-2's being produced, it was essential I find a reputable dealer.
After reading great reviews from both XDA and miuiandroid.com, I decided to make the purchase from ibuygou.com
There customer service and communication was great from before buying through delivery - Their customer service rep Anna was in constant communication and updated me on my phone's progress via DHL. In all, from order to delivery took approximately one week from China to Los Angeles.
Additionally, and very important to me, they accepted payment via PayPal so I had some buyer protection in case of issues. Some places in China want money orders/Western Union and I do not trust this at all.
What arrived was a great surprise:

Anna and the team at ibuygou.com went out of their way to deliver a great package!
Once the package was opened I found the phone, a USB cable, and a charger. They do not include headphones with the phone, but I've got a few pairs around so it was no issue at all.
The phone is available in a wide array of colors, but since I knew I would get a case to protect the outside I went with a white backing (to give some contrast against my case) ibuygou.com was great at fulfilling my color request.
The phone's screen is amazingly sharp - While a little smaller than the HTC One X and the Nexus 4, the picture is stunning and has held up relatively well in sunlight.
Additionally, the front glass is dragontrail glass - an Asian competitor to Gorilla glass. There's a great video of its strength shown on the Mi-2 that was created by ibuygou.com: http://youtu.be/84z_BIrLlp4
While staying on the lockscreen, the MIUI ROM has some great features built in:
1. Access to phone, messaging, and camera directly from the lockscreen
2. Music control via the lockscreen (if music is playing)
3. Holding down the home key turns on the torch light - no need to pass the lockscreen to have a handy flashlight
Inside the phone, MIUI uses a look similar to iPhone w/ no launcher. Being a big android fan, I'm not too big of the ios look, so I added Apex launcher to bring back the app drawer.
While some would question why I am using MIUI and then adding a launcher to change the look of MIUI, I have found that MIUI is very stable, offers many great features, has strong development (new ROMs rolled out weekly), as well as being incredibly stable. One of the features I really enjoy is the toggle screen from the menu bar.
While I never would buy a phone for a music player, I've found MIUI's music player to be a really great. Additionally, the phone has Dolby audio built into which, so far, I have found to be somewhat similar to the beats audio on my HTC One X.
The battery life has been pretty solid (especially coming from the One X) and feel its a bit better than what I was able to achieve on the Nexus 4. Additionally, there is an extended 3100mAh battery available from ibuyghou as well, though it does make the phone a big thicker and adds some weight.
Without the extended battery, I feel the phone is a good weight and, while thicker then my most recent devices, it wasn't too thick. In all, the size and feel of the phone is great. The quality is pretty amazing.
The camera has been pretty solid, though I would probably give the edge to my HTC One X.
All-in-all, the Mi-2 has been a great phone so far that has performed amazing well and definitely recommend it as an option for those looking for a new, top of the line android device at a great price.
Let me know if you have any further questions I can answer - hope this helps!
Hi! Congrats for your new phone. I wish I could have it too and I want to buy it , but I am afraid of fake ones.
-But I want to ask you what is the stock version of MIUI when you received it?
-Also is it stable? I mean is it crashing and giving FC so much and frequently?
-Do you void your warranty if you put unofficial MIUI ROM, which is not made and tested from experts from MIUI China?
Thanks in advance!

It ships with MIUI running off of 4.1.1 and there is supposed to be an update coming through in the next month or so.
My original plans were to run stock android once I received the phone, but given the weekly updates and stability I've had with MIUI, I have not tried out stock as I felt it would be a step back.
As for the stability, I havent had any issues on the current version from miuiandroid.com (MIUI 3.1.25) - This version isnt the official Chinese version, but is a build from a group that supports MIUI outside of China - they turn around the China updates very quickly, address issues, as well as add additional language support. Mi-2 ships w/ Chinese and English only (and the English isn't perfect on the Chinese ROM)
That being said, I havent had any FCs myself.
As for warranty void, I don't believe there is an issue, but you're ROM choices are very limited - It is either a variation on the MIUI ROM or it is the stock JB ROM. Bootloader isn't unlocked so there aren't a ton of choices, but so far I have been enjoying MIUI much more than I had anticipated (with the addition of Apex Launcher).
I never tried APEX laucher as i am quite satisfied with buitin ui, maybe I need to have it a try

It definitely gives it more of an android feel (over iOS) while still getting the great features of MIUI.
Thanks for the review....
I own a Mi One myself and have enjoyed using it a great deal, MIUI has some really nice features, the only really let down on the M1 is the camera and the lack of jelly bean so far is a bit annoying.
I had thought about getting a nexus 4 for my next phone just for a change and the fact it has a larger display, but from what I have read the M2 camera seems to actually be superior to the Neuxs 4 so am starting to think that despite the smaller display the M2 might actually be the way to go again.
How would you say the camera compares to the Nexus 4? And how would you say performance compares to the nexus 4 in general ? I have read it has the same sensor as the GS3.

I would say the camera is definitely better than the nexus 4 - overall I prefer the mi-2 over the nexus 4. more memory, bigger battery, resolution is great. the only thing i miss is getting fast updates of stock :/, but I've really come to like miui and is strong development.
There is some reason they send items disguised as gifts, I've heard of places doing it before. I think it may have to do with customs or shipping price.
What I want to know is how is the build quality on this thing? I've been in the market for a high end phone without a gigantic screen and this phone has both of those qualities.

Build quality is great - feels very solid and had a little weight to it. I like the size and feel a lot.

I imagine size is a big factor as the Mi2 has a 4.3" screen and is more compact than the 4.7" Nexus 4.

Hi, You say the bootloader is locked, is there any chance of it being unlocked in near future???
Cause I am using an Atrix 2 now which has a locked bootloader and my sister has Galaxy s Advance, and I am writhing now seeing all the cool custom roms and kernels with unlocked bootloaders!!
Also. How are the VIEWING ANGLES??? It really matters to me. I dont like devices which mess up colours when looked at from angles
(like when put on table top) Which is why I am more inching towards Galaxy S3 or hTC One x...
Thanks!!

In all, I do prefer the Mi-2 over the Nexus. More memory (32gb vs 16gb on the Nexus 4,) better battery life, replaceable battery with extended battery option (3100 mAh,) great screen, better camera, and I've come to like MIUI (w/ the addition of Apex launcher)
The miss about the Nexus: slightly bigger screen, stock android updates directly from Google.
We have stock android available from Xiaomi, but it is still 4.1.1 - We'll probably see 4.1.2 sometime after the Chinese New Year.....
The Xiaomi Mi2 is an awesome bang for the buck, but Ibuygou.com is charging a $105 premium to get the phone. If you want a 100% genuine Mi2 and can have it delivered in China for pickup later, then you can go to http://www.xiaomi.com/mi2 and reserve one for 1999 CNY (available after Chinese New Year). My colleague's friend works at Xiaomi and they said Xiaomi is ramping up production for worldwide expansion, so supply shortages should be a thing of the past soon.
benn using xiaomi MI2 for almost a week.
I'm using development rom 3.2.1.
I'm very satisfied with this phone right now

The issue is that most people do not have a place in China to have the phone shipped to and then picked-up - While ibuygou charged a premium (as most retailers/resellers do) they were able to ship it to me within the US and shipped the 100% genuine phone.
I am gonna make some Chinese friends on FB...:victory:
Hey, mymellowman,
Can you test Mi2 with Androbench and post results here?
Thanks in advance
The new device we already know - Redmi Note 3 - has just been released in new product launch event.

Send a mail to Hugo and Xiaomi officials ask them about kernel sources,
If they refuse to release it don't buy it.
Without sources mediatek devices are pathetic, Xiaomi Redmi Note is still stuck with buggy KitKat, and will stuck forever, same will happen with you.
So ensure sources, without sources even xda will not help.
Best of luck !!

This is not for Redmi Note 3, every device has diff hw although CPU is same , s you need your drivers from Xiaomi.
Ask Xiaomi for source, and they will not provide.
Don't fall in Xiaomi's trap.

So whats the trap.
Get a good device for 200 bugs? Okay it would be better with all thedriver sources released but it is Kind of a flGship killer.
AMD what you expect for that price. A device that beats the crap out of an IPhone 6s?
I need a new Smartphone ( my nexus 5 fell into the water, it still works but slowly dies) and you dont get a better bang for the buck right now. And I think we will get the driver source soon.

Xiaomi is known for excellent hw with poor sw , check Mi pad 1, an awesome hw with very very poor sw without kernel sources, gives very poor performance and Xiaomi do not care.

Hi, (gold, 32gb, redmi note3 5.0.2,MIUI7
MUI 77.0.11.0 215 EURO with shiping)
I will try to give you my feedback, it's my own personal view of the redmi note 3, first some background:
I'm a tech guy, i started using android with one of the first HTC Desire Bravo, i used to root my phones, flash roms, try, optimise as much as possible.
I have brought this phone for my wife, who had previously two Samsung S4, since redmi note3 is dual SIM, it work out quite nice.
I own a Samsung Note 4 , and i will compare the redmi note3 32gb fairly.
the phone costed me 215EUR, it's a flagship, and for that price it's very cheap!
the phone look beautiful, it has an aluminium body, the finition is perfect, the gold (champagne) color is very nice. the aluminium body is very sleepery.
it lack a SD card, which will force you to take the 32gb model (hello 2016)
battery is non removable, but it's more than 4000mAH, it hold with 2 sim cards and full backlight a full day
LCD would be rated 4.5/5 , not the best quality, but almost.
NO Screen protection, honestly if your phone is falling from time to time, do not buy this phone, the LCD will die, buy a housing to get some grip.
the phone is fast for normal apps, messengers, Instagram, phone apps (dialler, phone-book, calendar)
The camera is 13MB pixel in 4/3 format, it's a 10MB pixel in 16/9 format, the camera is not really good, btw i don't understand why xiaomi doesn't set the camera immediately for best quality, you had to go and set both camera by yourself.
same for front camera, not really good, it's a 5MB at 4/3 format, and 3MB on 16/9.
MUI work good, it's fast, some notifications from time to time never appear, i didn't figure out why yet.
Honestly for me that a great phone, because i don't care about the camera and i use my phone for work, but since it's for my wife, she like to do pictures, selfies, and that phone is no good at that point, her old Samsung S4 is doing much better pictures, and that is kinda the deal breaker.
I would recommend this phone to people who don't care about the cameras, it's cheap, look crazy nice, DUAL SIMS.
IF you like to take pictures of any kind, don't waste your time, it is no good.
IF your phone is likely to fall, avoid it, no screen protection, or at least buy some housing.
I like MUI btw, my gf doesn't like it to much, but she doing better every day.
The charger is trash, it's a 0.35mAH, it charge 5% per hour LOL, never seen worse, get your old charger back, or buy a new one immediately.
I forgot to say in my review that the phone is not rooted, but there is a app .apk that root the device in 2min easy and friendly(it''s in chiness, but keep hitting the green button),
Best regards guys!

Thanks for sharing your first impressions! I dont know which rom you are using but I know that other people reporting camera improvements with the latest rom.

Miui7
mui 77.0.11.0
Hi,
i have got my note 3 before christmass. With the same ROM 77.0.11.0 as Lisendra. Got it in a GDA for 199€ with DHL shipping, cover and tempered glass screen protection.
The "original" rom had some bugs, I was unable to sincronize the contacts from gmail etc.
A guy on italian forum helped me with a hint about a custom ROM, the first one was a developer, the second one latest stable 7.0.22.0
It doesnt support OTA, so you have to use flashtool, but the flashing is pretty easy, it comes with ROOT and it is cleaned from the scrap chinese apps.
[ROM] [Stable] SphinX V1d - MIUI7 V7.0.22.0 Global, Multi Language, SuperSU
Since I installed that one, the phone does greatly. There are already guides to unlock bootloader, but to instal this ROM you dont need to do so.
For that money it is really a great phone. My old Galaxy S3 seems to be a toy, compared to this. Signal reception is very good (althought LTE band 20 is missing, so i dont have LTE where I live, but in the towns downhill it works pretty good in LTE). GPS (gps, glonass and the chinese satelites) locks really fast.
With 1 SIM the phone is able to work for 2 full days (until the evening of the second day - with the screen ON for about 5 hours).
After 2 weeks of experience, I would buy it again.
So I found leaks of the MIUI 8 for our phone (one was 6.6.12 and one was 6.6.14). Both are in Chinese and I guess we will have to wait until 17th June to see the full version. Unfortunately by the posts on miui forums and the build.prop it looks like we won't be getting Android M anytime soon.
What is even worse (at least as I see it) we will be staying on the old Android 5.0.2 (not even 5.1) and to my knowledge we don't have any useful sources for building Marshmallow ROMs.

Woooow that's awesome.... (pls..) I think we will never get Marshmallow because of Mediatek closed sources
Remember that HTC A9 has the same Mediatek chipset and somehow received Marsmellow so it is not impossible at most. Let's hope that Xiaomi wont leave this phone without ANY system update, otherwise milions of users will be pissed off and may think twice befor buying their next device.

what version of miui 8? 8.6.6.12 or 6.6.14
this is the last time i bought a phone with mediatek or xiaomi. i hate miui but because they don't release the source codes developers cannot produce decent custom roms. The camera of CM romsis awful andAosp is also not very good. most important is allowing double tap to wake but they don't even allow us this feature to have. My power button reacts really bad because i have to push is so often. I don't care if I have Miui 8, 9, 20 or anything. They should at least update to Marshmallow so we can have some progress. It is so annoying. We live in the year 2016 and there is no real communication or information comming from xiaomi to the users. This is so sad and annoying
they talk too much about MIUI8 , but still using 5.0.2? what's wrong with xiaomi?
even they don't want to release kernel source, so it is small chance for someone to build CM13

HTC A9 has Snapdragon 617, not Mediatek processor.
I think it should be pretty clear by now that if excellent 3rd party ROM support is really important to you, you should steer clear of the Xiaomi+Mediatek combination. That combination produces an amazing price+performance ratio, and is almost unbeatable at that. However, with such low costs and margins, it is unrealistic to expect the kind of development/support that exists for the more expensive devices (i.e., you get what you pay for).
Personally, I am not complaining about lack of sustained development support. I do not like the fact that we are stuck with 5.02 - but I went for the RN2 with my eyes wide open (and probably so did most people who chose to buy it). Battery life could be better - but the same goes for expensive iPhones. The camera could be better, but it is good enough for most things. The device is reasonably well specced, very cheap, reasonably fast, and there are some reasonably good cooked ROMs in this forum. It is an excellent medium-range device, at an entry-level price and with an entry-level support. Premium, it is most certainly not. So what is it realistic to expect? There is always the OnePlus 3 ...
Bottom line: anyone who is really keen on excellent 3rd party ROM support should go for a Snapdragon device. It will cost you more, but you will get what you pay for.
First miui 8 will based on 5.0.2

So you are saying ''well you didn't pay much so you have no right to complain''? Sorry but I think we can expect a descent communication and that we get informed properly from xiaomi. Mm was annouced month ago but till today nobody knows for sure if we will get it. And allowing gestures is not too much to ask for. The device is technically able for that but we don't get this feature or the codes to develope it. I had a cubot x9. It was cheaper than the rn2 but it had this feature. And it was a MTK device too. I'm not that much that it has to offer all that a 700$ device does.

My point is that I am realistic in my expectations. Having a cheaper Cubot that does different (or more) things is beside the point. We bought a cheap phone with a particular ROM installed. I did not expect to be able to change that ROM, or for it to be updated frequently (or even at all). If I could not have lived with what it came with, I would not have bought it. For every person here who wants to change his ROM, there are millions who do not know what a ROM is, or who could not care less. For every person here who would like kernel sources (I certainly would), there are tens of millions who have no idea what a kernel is, and who really do not care. That is why someone can sell the phone so cheaply. By all means, complain if you must - but I doubt that anyone in China is listening!

Hey,
please ask questions if you have any, I gladly will answer.
For the specs of the phone and the shop I got it from look at the following links.
Mod Edit
This review will cover:
- Build quality
- Camera quality
- Day to day performance
- Battery life
- MIUI vs AOSP
- Verdict
Some background information:
Tested for one week ongoing, the Redmi Note 4 replaced the Moto G4 Plus. The Moto G4 Plus is more expensive but not more appealing.
The build quality:
Absolutely great.
Xiaomi does make good phones, they look good, they feel good, the Redmi Note 4 is no exception. It's a solid metal body phone, with a fast unlocking fingerprint sensor on the back. The screen is big, the colors on it are nice and so is the brightness.
The HTC antenna lines (iPhone copied this from HTC), look good on the Redmi Note 4, signal strength is decent. But make sure the phone has your desired 4G bands, before buying.
Camera quality:
I like it.
That's a tricky topic, it's very situational and depends upon opinions. Here is mine: It's good enough, great for the money, but please judge yourself. Later there will be a Redmi Note 4 vs Mi5 vs Moto G4 Plus camera comparison. Click it to make it big.
Link to full size pictures: picture 1 picture 2 picture 3 picture 4 picture 5
Day to day performance:
The Helio X20, a hungry monster if you want it to be.
In Antutu and other the benchmarks the Helio X20 has pretty awesome performance, but such means nothing for day to day use, so how does it perform? It's not a Snapdragon 820 or 821, no that's not what you shall expect.
The flagship MTK Helio X20 is at the level of a SD 617 or 650, it's hard to tell, but doesn't matter. The performance is good enough you won't wish for more throughout the day. But don't have it in performance mode, this mode will eat up your battery fast, very fast!
Battery life:
Just huge, 4100mAh is huge.
Two days of heavy social media and surfing is normal, you don't have to worry about battery backup, quick charging works fine. I do wish all phones start to have huge batteries.
MIUI vs AOSP:
MIUI is feature rich, colorful and gets updates on regular base. But ASOP (that's stock Android) is faster, and will always be the fastest Android available.
Verdict:
Should you buy it, for let's say 165$? -> yes; Should you buy it for let's say 195$? -> yes. (It's on sale right now.)The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is a sweet little thing, good quality, decent specs on paper. Other phone manufactures will have a hard time to compete, this device is sold very cheap but offers much. Give it a thought and ask a question if you have any.
The last question: Where to buy?
Well that's a good question, there are countless Chinese resellers out. Some are scam, some are nice, some are cheap and bad, some are cheap and good... it's difficult. It sucks that Xiaomi does not sell to international customers directly.
When you decide to buy the phone, you have to decide on a Chinese reseller, choose wisely. I did get this phone from Gearbest, shipping was fast, service was good.

Thanks for your review, photos look really good, the stunning locations certainly help too! Was there any post editing or are they as they were shot? On auto on the stock cam? To be honest it looks good enough for day to day stuff, I wouldn't call myself a photographer but need to take good shots of my kids and like to photograph anything else nice when opportunity arises.
I've pretty much convinced myself to get this phone now, just a small niggle to get the redmi note 3 pro purely for custom rom options, but part of me isn't that bothered as I've used the last couple of phones as is and there seems to be plenty of customisation options in miui to tinker about with.

Ya I get you the Redmi Note 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 4 is a tough choice.
usb otg works.. had try it with 3 of my otg and it works like a charm.
So do you think its worth it coming from a gs4? You're saying MIUI is not better than AOSP wich I am currently using, and getting great performance but terrible battery life. Also you compare the proccesor with a mid range snapdragon, let us not forget that the s4 was a flagship in it's release. So what do you think?

Hey,
thank you for asking a question.
Samsung uses TouchWiz what is "as slow as" MIUI is.
Did you install ASOP as a custom ROM? if that's the case you never got the full true ASOP speed.
---
My girlfriend only had true ASOP devices and now is happy with the Redmi Note 4, she keeps it as her daily driver.
(I used it for a couple of days and then she took it, I do have a Mi 5 as my daily driver.)
She used:
- 2 years Google Nexus 5, until the battery broke.
- some months the Moto G4 Plus she liked the battery, but wasn't happy with it in general.
Both devices are very sleek and fast true ASOP devices, such will always be faster then Samsung, Xiaomi or others.
However! She keeps on using the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and the Moto G4 Plus just lays around unused.
I asked her about the speed and she said: The Moto G4 Plus was faster... but this doesn't make her use it.
Or in other words, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is fast enough to be a daily driver, that's for sure.
----
Back on topic.
Ya the Helio X20 is a middle range SoC, the problem is that 10 cores are nice on paper, but the Software can't use it.
This means: It's neither advantage nor disadvantage to have 10 cores... it's just like having 6 or 8 of it (because of the software behind).
If you only used Samsungs Touchwiz thing, you can switch to MIUI, the performance difference won't be much. (Things will look different though, icon and style things.)

All righty, so summing up=its not much of a difference compared with touchwiz. I think I'll buy this one instead of the G4 plus wich was an option too, I need something durable. Thank you!! :good:

Please keep in mind that all phones suck at low lights, all but maybe the Samsung S7, iPhone 7 and google Pixel... but apart from those super super expensive phones pretty much all phones suck at low lights.

Just wondering if the camera supports camera2 API? Also, I've read it has NFC, is this correct? Oh, are you still doing the comparison to the G4 Plus?
Thanks for any replies.

Yeah do yourself a favour & buy one!! I'm more than impressed with mine & I know I would be paying double that for something even close locally.
As for that price I think it's good, it's what I payed 2 weeks ago but if you decide to go with express shipping that's where they will differ a little & I also got a soft gel tpu case, a tempered glass protector & a flip case thrown in as gifts so thats something to look for.

What is your screen on time? Mine is like 4 hours per charge. I only use my redmi note 4 for social media and youtube. I have to charge my phone twice to survive a day. Hello XDA community ,
So my Note 5 is broken , and I'm using an old S4 mini waiting for a new phone .
So I was looking for the best bang for my buck. Around 350 to 400 bucks .Because I'm buying a new laptop too.
I found many smartphones but I don't know which one to choose , a friend who uses a Oneplus 3 advised me to buy an Axon 7 but I'm still confused .
My main requirements are :
-Good Display and audio for multimedia .
-Good Performance and durability.
-A durable Battery.
-best signal reception and WIFI strength .
-An Okay Camera for social media uses(Don't care of low light performance).
That's it please tell me your real experience , and not a biased opinion. , and feel free to give me any alternatives .Thanks a lot.
Best Regards.

It'll be very good for you then. The only thing slightly lacking for some is the battery. But the main problem with it is that the whole UI is light themed, so it uses more battery. On my side, using a totally black theme on lineageOS i managed to get 2 days of battery, and pretty impressive screen on time. And even on stock system I can get close to 3/4 day with intense 3D apps
Take into consideration that it has quick charge. you can squeeze some battery in there pretty fast if you ever find yourself close to a plug
But the stock system is not as bad as everyone says it is. Bloatware? I'd say zero, apart from Google stuff which may be considered bloatware (Duo, Navigation, Keep). Appearance? Yeah, not too good, but a launcher helps if you can't stand MiLauncher. not like you have 200mb of storage for apps like the old Galaxy Y days... Performance? Zero problems whatsoever
The thing that's most lacking on this thing is the tampering-with-the-system part... unlocking the thing is kinda hard, and bricking it is kinda easy
---------- Post added at 04:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:15 AM ----------
I don't know about those LeEco and Umidigi phones with the new mediatek but you might want to go read a bit about them on their own XDA pages if they do have them... to be honest I'd still prefer this thing because of the looks of it and the ridiculously good sound
The AKM DAC and the native Dolby support are too good...

Definitely. Pound for pound among the best out there. I use pretty heavily and have 30 percent at end of day unless I use GPS a lot. Great screen, great audio, 64GB out of the box with SD card or dual SIM. With nova launcher runs great. Less than $400. Can't think of a better phone for the money.

While the Axon 7 is a fantastic phone, this is not one of its strong points. I am seeing average signal strengths, and others are reporting worse.
That being said, I picked mine up barely used on Swappa for $300 a month ago and I feel it was the deal of the century. 2016 flagship level hardware at half the price is pretty amazing.
It's a complete steal right now 260 UK pounds via Ali express. Cannot be beat
I am also looking into axon 7.
1. Is there any difference in eu/us/china models? (I live in Poland, so I can buy european one locally or import chinese version from aliexpress)
2. About the bootloader, am I right that bootloader can be unlocked without unlock code from zte? (so without loosing warranty)

This I'll have to agree with!
GREAT phone, best battery life of any phone I've had to date, great display, the best audio experience available on any phone to date (IMO), decent camera, durable...but just not the best reception. It's not horrible, but is probably one of the weakest signal phones I've had (but not the absolute weakest).

The bootloader is unlockable, but it's a pain on Nougat. The steps I took were:
Set up EDL mode USB drivers on PC
Flash tenfar's signed TWRP via EDL (unsigned recovery won't boot until you unlock, but you need a custom recovery to flash an unlockable bootloader)
Backup original bootloader via TWRP
Flash unlockable bootloader via TWRP
Select the option in Settings to enable unlocking (which doesn't work unless you've done the above)
Unlock the bootloader in fastboot
Flash a more recent TWRP via EDL

1.Jeśli cię to interesuje swojego axona 7 zakupiłem w chinach z aliexpress i jestem z niego zadowolony, lecz podobno najlepszą wersją jest US.
If you are here, you probably will appreciate knowing that this device has really got a lot of dev activity. There are lots of options and, from what I experience, every aspect of this phone is running very well. Sounds very well with my hires, too. So, to me, not only is this phone still a great deal with its low realitive price, it's great compared to other current phones at way higher prices.
Sent from my ZTE A2017U using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I wouldn't buy this anymore because ZTE just released the Axon 7S which matches the OP3T with the SD 821 SOC. One main gripe I've had with the A7 is the signal wasn't good at all and GPS locking not as good. The reason you want the SD821 because it has the newer Qualcomm Radio which I've tested beats out both the older One Plus 3 and ZTE A7.
Another weak area is the Wifi, speeds are just as bad because ZTE used the cheaper budget version of the SD820. Never hit more than 400mbps like my old Note 4 could.
Go take a test at the 3 areas that I mentioned, weaker signal due to older chipset, slow wifi, and signal strength never matches other older flagships.
Keep your expectations in check, this is great phone to get. The price is at a really sweet spot too.
Regarding the 7s, if I'm not mistaken, it's China only and targeted for government employees. If you are really worried about this, then you'd probably wait til they announce the 8.

That is not that bad, on my previous phone motorola XT1080 I had to program an offline modified system image (superSU added to the image on my PC) in serial mode. That could take a whole night. After that phone any other root/unlock method is easy
I am going to be honest here. Personally, I would not have paid MSRP for this phone. The ONLY reason why I bought it for $350 was to flip the free Monster ROC Bluetooth headphones that came with it, which I did for $100. Though, I am a cheapskate.
I got rid of the Axon 7 because the Radios aren't good and Wifi connection speeds are terrible. You can get S7 Edge now for under $400 mint on Swappa. By next year S7E will still receive updates while ZTE traditionally discontinue support after a year.
Funny how so many people claim that signal on LTE are bad.
My zte is better then every previous phone I had.
On WiFi I never use more than 200 mbits. Signal stengh is good enough and comparable to all other phones I had.
I own the G version.
In France I've got a very good reception. And absolutely no problem with the WiFi.
