Morning all,
I'm trying to make international (specifically calls to the US) using VoIP in WM6 but it doesn't appear to be working. I've tried a whole range of numbers but all I get is a few seconds of trying to connect, then possibly a connection for a split second, then it drops.
My provider is VoipCheap and I can make calls to the US fine using my laptop.
I can call UK numbers fine (44) and am using the international dialing codes, etc.
Anyone know what's up?
Thanks
I have an unlocked Hero on the o2 network in the UK.
I have been noticing that a lot of calls are diverting straight to voicemail without ringing. It appears that this occurs while in a 2G Network Area.
2G Networks cannot cope with both Data and Voice calls at the same - so if, as you would expect on a "Smart Phone", a data connection is active - i.e. Push Email, Updating Twitter, Facebook or streaming Radio - then you are unable to receive calls!
This is not an issue on a 3G Network.
I have read that a phone should be able to terminate the Data connection if a Phone Call is coming through. It would appear that the HTC Hero does not do this - incidentally I have read of similar issues on the iPhone.
Has anyone found any solution to this? Is there anyway to ensure that the Data Connection IS terminated when necessary?
Thanks in advance.
bump for the Sunday crowd...
It's not the phone that terminates the connection, it's the network. When it knows it needs to route a call to a phone which has an active data connection, it should terminate the data connection, or at least suspend it (HTC's are capable of this if commanded) and then route the call through.
Networks that route through to voice mail without ringing are not doing this, they are simply routing straight to voice mail without bothering to try and contact the phone.
Nothing you can do about it apart from keeping data turned off whenever you are not using it.
I bought unlocked, sim free HD2 inserted the sim of my usual Mobilink network the phone wizards automatically configured the setttings but to my strange I cannot dial or receive phone calls, I am receiving and sending sms perfectly the phone GPRS working alright tried different methods of changing band but nothing is working to dial or receive voice call. In order to check if there is problem itself with the phone I tried different network (Ufone) sim and the phone is working perfectly without any problem so I am stuck that I cannot use my network which I normally use and I dont want to switch network, if somebody can help to fix this problem.
I have LeeDroid installed on my phone with the ElementalX kernel (0.06) and I cannot receive calls when in 4G/LTE mode. I'm not sure if my APN is messed up or what. Calls work fine on 3G.
Same here. Since root and Venom, I can't use HD voice or Wi-Fi Calling.
Is there maybe a way we can change the provisioning in the phone menu settings? For whatever reason it's totally greyed out in the standard settings.
I don't even have HD voice/wifi calling on my plan. Maybe it's trying to use it for me and failing.
I own a SM-G935V that I'm using with Tracfone. It's running 7.0/Nougat, patch level 4/1/2017. On another forum, here's what I wrote:
I've run multiple tests on this and it turns out that if I reboot my phone, I do not get reconnected to cell service unless I make an outgoing telephone call.
The reason why I didn't notice this is because I use Google Voice for about 99% of my SMS communication. So here's the test I ran:
1. Reboot phone, wait until it comes back online and I have bars and 4G on my status bar
2. Call my phone from another phone -- goes straight to voicemail
3. Send SMS via phone's SMS -- goes to pending and is never sent
4. Make an outgoing phone call not using Google Voice but my cell network resolves the issue
I've changed the network from Global to LTE/CDMA, but it makes no difference. I've also turned off the wifi and tried to see if I would be denied for data access, but that is not so -- I can visit websites without any issue. But doing that DOES NOT reconnect me to my cell network. So it seems that since I'm using 4G/LTE for data, that authentication is separate from the cell authentication.
I got a response from another user that's experienced the same issue. He said he had no problems with Verizon prepaid SIM but the same exact thing with a Tracfone Verizon-piggybacked SIM. His solution was to push an unbranded firmware on it.
I'd rather not go this route if I can help it since the phone works well and this is the only issue I've encountered. Any suggestions?
