Odin, kingo root, towelroot, and framaroot, all fail completely.
But now my device status says custom, and it's still not rooted.
Any ideas?

ExynosAbuse still works in official Jelly Bean [EDIT: No it doesn't]

It seems that after spending a month longer than what they originally said, they still ExynosAbuse exploit wide open.
EDIT: I am wrong, Chainfire's app doesn't check properly to see if the bug can be exploited. It has been fixed

Have you tried running the exploit demo to double check? on fixed custom kernels that app stated the same but chainfires demo doesnt work. aka no exploit.

Ah! You're right. I tried to execute the original binary provided by alephzain and it has failed. I guess the ExynosAbuse app does not have the ability to report the exploitability correctly.

[Q] Root for lollipop

I haven't used my S4 in a while since i got my S6 Edge i was wondering is there a root for the S4 5.0 I've been looking everywhere and no luck yet
I'm seconding this question.
In addition I'm on 4.3 and my system can't even manually pick up on the update. What's up with that?
Third that...
I just got my S4 L720 replacement, came pre-loaded with 5.01 and I can't find a way to root it, cant do anything with it really...
Haaaaallp!
Just use Odin to flash TWRP, then in TWRP flash Chainfire's SuperSU.
It's the same as KitKat, what mattzeller said or Odin CF-AUTO-ROOT by Chainfire

Ok I'm not an expert at all and I don't want to follow the wrong guide and mess everything up. I googled some of the terms and I don't feel confident enough in what I found.
How exactly do I get to KitKat (be it the stock rom or the one really close to it) and root it?

Rooting s8, no oem unlock

Tried to root my S8 sm-g950u, latest software update(qde), with cf auto root. I, however, do not have an oem unlock in developer options. Does this mean it's unlocked or not unlockable? I tried the cf auto root anyway, bad idea i assume, and odin kept failing or giving me a sha256 is invalid. i later realized the cf auto root was for the previous update. can't get twrp on it either. my latest idea was to flash the previous update, but i could not find a sprint version(the only one i found the connection would time out). suggestions?
You can't root it if it's a North American S8 as it have Snapdragon (unlockable bootloader).
You cant root any snapdragon phones.

You require a PC with Odin installed in order to set SE Linux to Permissive, otherwise root will definitely fail. Hope this helps.
