Hi all
Can I find somewhere the stock kernel of xxu1ane2 official firmware or extract it and flash via odin because I need to make smart view app from samsung to work and it only works with stock kernel? I managed to make mirrorlink work ok with help of a member on custom kernel, but smart view app denies either on lollipop or kitkat!!
If I install it, will it overwrite the cwm I have now installed?
Thanks

I want to update my i9505 to the latest android 4.3 through Odin but I don't want the new Knox bootloader, could someone please give me any instructions of how I could achieve this? I don't want to install the "custom" stock roms.
*EDIT*: Could someone also give me instructions on how to compile the edited firmware.
I tried to Google it but to no avail.
I shall be grateful to anyone who helps.

In order to remain on your old bootloader you will need to root. Any reason why you don't want to? Root, install a custom recovery then flash the pre rooted rom. They are stock based.

Thank you for your reply, I'm rooted with custom recovery. However I wish to create myself a Odin copy for emergency purposes, I currently have the official MGA firmware update for Odin. I want to create a Odin flash-able firmware update without the new bootloader,
EDIT: After going through the thread all the firmware files include the new know bootloader ;(
As far as I know you can't flash via odin. I suggest you flash the CWM version this has no bootloader. As your already rooted using the knox free cwm version is the safest bet at the moment.

Does the flashable one contain the modem and everything?
Thank you for replying.

No modem, you can install that separately via Odin as we can't flash modems using CWM. It contains stock rom and stock kernel.

I've a 4.3 stock rom installed from the box for my s4 let version . I want to install a custom rom. In order to do that I need to install a custom recovery that I'm unable to flash. It does flash but it does not boot into recovery. It only restarts my phone. Knox New security is messy. Any idea guys. Need help urgently?

Hi im wondering if anyone else is having this issue. I just flashed Omega rom 7.0 with no problems but then i flashed the new bootloader using Odin and it was successful too but for some reason when i check the bootloader version its still the old one.
I figured it out. Make sure to power down completely first and then boot into download mode and then flash thru Odin that way.

What is all about that new bootlader? Do I need to flash it? What has changed?
Thank you!
If you want to use the stock kernels you have to flash the new bootloader. Things like screen casting to a smart TV can only be done with stock kernels.

Hi all
Can I find somewhere the stock kernel of xxu1ane2 official firmware (I already have it downloaded from sammobile) or extract it and flash via odin (is it the boot.img if I extract the fw? Can I flash it via odin straight away?) because I need to make smart view app from samsung to work and it only works with stock kernel? I managed to make mirrorlink work ok with help of a member on custom kernel, but smart view app denies either on lollipop or kitkat!!

First of all: flashing a kernel will override the kernel, not the recovery.
Original kernels will mostly only work with Sammy Roms! Otherwise you could run into bootloop.
If you r using CM vor any other NOT Sammy based Rom you should not try to flash the stock kernel because it is not build for AOSP/CM.

Very good, so this will not be the Problem.
But I dont know if you can extract the kernel from an official Firmware!
Try the forum search and Google or wait for someone else to answer this question for you.
I dont think this is possible though.
